Softbricked Vanilla M9 Data Recovery issues - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys,
my sisters phone stopped working...
Its a normal M9 with stock recovery thats not rooted, bootloader is still locked and no usb debugging turned on. no SD card.
Its somehow stuck on boot. I have tried wiping cache, but that did not help.
I did not go for a factory reset yet, since my sister really wants to keep her photos (its the first 4 months with her 1st child).
The phone is still under warranty but support says, they would just repair, not recover the data, obviously.
What would be the best way to recover the data?
I know i could try a factory reset and then work with data recovery tools, but is that really reliable?
I also read that a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP can give access to the stored data, but i am unsure if that would void the warranty.
So i am quite torn on what to do with this thing since im really scared of messing something up.
Any help would be really appreaciated
Edit: wrong forum, im so sorry

[Q] Help me: Desperate. EVO completely bad.

I rooted my EVO last night and was playing around trying to Unlock NAND and everything went wrong.
My SD card is completely blank. Nothing on it.
Every time I turn on my phone I just get the bootloader.
I have no idea what to do.
Please help.. What do I do?
Give us more details, explaining what you did up to now, then we might be able to help out.

Sorry. I don't really know how or what because I did so much.
I rooted it using a guide I saw in the Development Forum,
but with ROM Manager I could never get CM6 working so I used Revoked to turn S-OFF.
After I did that, Whenever I rebooted, the bootloader would come up and I couldn't actually boot up my phone. I went to recovery to do a factory reset and it still wouldn't boot.
So now my SD card is completely empty, not a single file.
With Bootloader and ClockworkMod recovery.
How do I get my factory default back?
Details are still a bit sketchy to me, but just turn off your phone, remove the SD card and plug it into your computer. Load one of the stock rooted roms on the evo wiki.

Eject it and put it back into your phone. Boot into recovery, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvic cache, and then install from SD card.
You must have reformatted your SD card when you were messing around earlier.

you should be able to use any rom not just stock. but yea from the sounds of it you formated your sd card your evo is defineatly not completly bad since it boots and gets to the bootloader and recovery there is always hope. Also if you ddint a note for the future ALWAYS nandbackup as soon as you can while everything is working before you change roms etc this way if this happens again in the future you can just nand restore ti back to where you were.

[Q] OTA Update caused phone to not boot

Hi,
I know next to nothing about phones (although am OK when it comes to computers). I've an HTC Desire which I've had a couple of months which I've not touched the operating system on. I received an OTA update yesterday which I duely installed. The phone has been unable to boot since.
From reading around I've discovered that there's a recovery mode which installs a file update.zip from the SD card. I'm assuming this is what's corrupted on the phone (as it won't boot by installing this file either).
HTC have been no help, neither have O2 in the UK. They all seem to think wiping the data is the only solution and if I try anything on my own I'm going to invalidate the warranty. I can't see how installed a working official update file will invalidate anything, but I'd just like a copy of the file to try.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix the phone without having to do a hard reset?
Thanks.
Before the update were you getting an o2 logo when booting up the phone? If so, download the file at the bottom of this post and then:
1. Turn the phone on holding the back button to get into FASTBOOT
2. Connect phone to the PC
3. Once drivers are installed run the file
It should get you back to stock BUT it will mean losing all data on the phone
File to download:
http://ship.ibeta.org/shipped/Bravo...00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_144166_signed.exe
Yes, I still get the O2 logo when I try to boot (it just gets stuck at the logo). The phone is still stock, I've never tried to mess with it before, it's just had an automatic update installed which corrupted it.
Is there any way to get the phone to work WITHOUT losing the data on the phone?
Otherwise I'll try that file (or follow the hard reset instructions).
I'm currently becoming a quick study of all things phone operating systems.
Unfortunately not

Would not an update.zip from another phone be able to fix the problem?
Or is there a way of getting the data off a phone stuck at the boot screen?
I'm beginning to feel that the old expression about microsoft building bridges might be better applied to phones. I can normally fix my computer when things go wrong and not lose the data if I do need to rebuild.
The ONLY way you can get it working is to wipe the cache - which you can't do with a stock ROM. All you can do is either wipe the data as it is or install the RUU
Surely there must be a way to wipe the cache without wiping the data?
Is there a way of getting a working recovery file onto the SD card and getting the phone to boot off that? I'm assuming that won't mean I lose all the data.
As I've already said, there's no way of doing it. You're going to have to lose your data unless you root first, back it up then wipe but to restore you'd have to root again
If there was a way of doing it I think I'd have posted it by now

Galaxy Neuxs Encryption woes!!!

Hey All,
New to XDA but been using this site years so my level of Android knowledge is not bad.
I am currently having a huge problem with my Nexus. I used Google Apps encryption on it recently and that seems to have bricked my phone. I am unable to reset to factory settings to wipe the encryption as recommended by Google and I am stuck now with a bricked Nexus.
I also tried flashing stock roms with Odin which appears to work but the encryption still remains. All I am trying to do is put the stock back on my phone and re-root but I am having no joy. When using CWM to flash a new rom the system does not mount in recovery mode so I can't load any other roms. I have also tried the fastboot method but it stalls on waiting for device all the time.
If anyone has seen this and can help or if anyone just knows how to fix it please help me! I am stuck now with a useless Nexus. I should have just left it alone but as usual I couldn't.
Any help would be so appreciated. Thank you.
By some chance is your phone both rooted with CWM?
Hey, yeah it was so when I did a factory reset it could'nt use the stock bootloader so it didn't know how to wipe it. Unfortunetly once you apply encryption from a Google Apps the only way to remove is to factory reset.
I got around it by fastbooting the stock bootloader, radio and image from Google. Then I completed a manual reset using the original bootloader.
A world of hurt really! I have learned a lot but never going near Google Apps encryption again. It also slowed down the phone too.
Anyhow all sorted now, re rooted and running revolution rom now.
theres another thread with a guy who had the same problem. I wonder if vzw nexus has an issue with encrypting...
If the phone wasn't rooted I would have had no issues. It is simply a problem when it comes to loading roms. In CWM the recovery cant mount the data/system so you can't flash anything. Also doing a factory reset from settings doesnt work because the phone is looking for a stock bootloader which it doesn't have once you root. So I ended up in a loop and could do nothing. Fortunetly I learned all about adb and fastboot this morning, never heard of them before and that allowed me to reload stock and unroot. I still had to wipe the phone using the bootloader as I couldn't get into the phone or past the encryption.
If anyone is having issues with this I will gladly help as I really thought that my phone was bricked and was very frustrated. The only way I got help was from a guy on this tread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392037&page=3

[Q] Bootloop with stock firmware and usb debug off

Hello,
I have a stock Galaxy Note 3 Neo, I bought it 6 months ago so I have more than a year of warranty. All of a sudden the device didn't boot up, but it got stuck at the boot logo. I tried to erase the cache from recovery but it kept getting stuck at samsung logo. Usb debugging is off, so the computer doesn't see the device, even when I try with adb. I have many files that I need for work and don't want to loose, so I don't want to do a factory reset. I know that I could fix the problem by installing a custom recovery, but I don't want to risk loosing warranty. Do you think there is a solution to recover my data? Maybe a way to enable usb debug from the computer or somenthing? I know that it's a desperate case and that I have to do a factory reset, but I believe in you and your experience
Thank you in advance

Can't boot up an encrypted device

Hello,
I've been using my device normally, when all of a sudden it froze and shut itself down. I've tried booting it up multiple times, but it wouldn't do. I thought that it might be up to the battery, so I've gotten a new one, but it's not up to it.
However, I've been able to enter TWRP Recovery. I thought that wiping data, cache and dalvik would help me get rid of my problems, but it didn't. Obviously, I can't mount anything, because everything seems to be encrypted. I wanted to flash another ROM, but I can't do so without connecting the storage with my PC. Now I'm cluelessly stuck in the Recovery.
Can anyone help me? I'd be very grateful if so. I might have made a foolish mistake somewhere, so please don't get harsh on me. The custom rom I've been using is CandySix
