Has anyone tried to use wifi calling feature yet? Every time I try to turn it on I get a dialog box that says "Not Available. Unable to connect to a network. Please move to a new location and try again."
I don't know how to get wifi calling to work. I'm going to take my phone in to the sprint store to see if they can do something but if anyone on here know a solution it would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Just got my phone today and it worked first try. Setup and usage was exactly the same as my Note 3.
In my one short call, both parties comment on very good sound quality and I felt the latency as good as I'd ever heard it.
Try using your city state and zip only. Leave the address blank and it should work. Or click locate me and it give you options to choose from and choose from the list.
I put my exact address in and it give me that error you had too.

When I'm at work, I turn my 3G off because I get terrible service inside. If I receive a MMS message during that time, obviously it's not going to download. But once I step outside and turn 3G on to try to download the message, it just says it's downloading...but it never does. Is there a way to refresh the download so that I can view the picture? I looked and looked but can't find ANYTHING so any help or suggestions would be great.
Oh, and it doesn't have anything to do with my phone going haywire because if I'm connected to 3G when a MMS message comes in, it downloads perfectly fine.

I run into that problem as well sometimes when using my phone because I always use juice defender to preserve battery, just restart the phone it should give you the option to redownload

you could temp download another sms manager such as hancent or gosms and see if it gives you the option to download
So I recently got this phone and it came with Android 2.3.6
I stand next to my old school and it catches the router TP-LINK### and connects, gathers IP address and the signal bar displays as good.
Finally, when I try to access the web it doesn't seem to work and says I need to check settings. What else would I need to check? Anyone know?

Nope, I've tried that app WiFi Manager but it's still the same. Minutes ago I was next to another building with good signal and again, the same problem.

I will check those and try tomorrow, thanks. In the mean time more suggestions are welcome.
So I just succesfully connected to my current school's router and the web is accessable and downloading is just perfect. That sure is a relief that it's not a problem of my phone.
Gonna try checking the static IP address option later on the other school.
Is there a way to setup the phone so it will only use your home wifi when it is available? I don't want to manually have to change this all the time. I want it to use my home network when it can connect to it. If it can't then use 4g. Anyone?

In cyanogen there are profiles you can set.
But if you're stock there are third party apps that you can use. I believe they even track your location to know if you're home or not.
Or just leave WiFi on all the time and it will connect when in range. But might kill your battery quicker since it will be scanning constantly

Thanks for your response. How do you give someone a thank you or whatever its called? Someone flipped me **** because I hadnt given any. I dont know how.
I use LLama ---> https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5rZWJhYi5MbGFtYSJd
My wife uses [email protected] ---> https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5hZWJlaW5yb3RoLndpZmlob21lIl0.
They both work. LLama does so much more than what you desire and [email protected] only does what you want.

Click the thanks button on the left side under the name and post count. If you're on the xda app just click the post.
I'm pretty sure the phone will only connect to a network when you tell it to so you can just leave wifi on. From my experience wifi didn't really use that much more power. It'll just connect automatically within range.
Additionally, there's ways to change the scan interval times so it doesn't check constantly.
If you wanna impress some folks buy some Nfc tags and set them up.

Does this happen to anyone else? Quite often if I've been using the N2 in my home, when I go out and about my phone will not be connected to mobile data (3G) and I have to toggle airplane mode for it to kick in?

Not had this myself, sounds like the cellular connection is going to sleep and not waking when your note 2 polls for a connection. Are you on a stock rom or a custom, can you post your android version number as well, will help anyone else who posts who may have more information for you.
If your rooted you could try pulling a log at the time you switch connections see if that yields any useful data.
Same here on a german device. I use manually select the Provider. Then it connect. Thank you for the tip with the airplane mode. But I search a way to kick this big. In a german forum a member says that a Fullwipe helps.

Its a stock rooted ROM version JRO03C.N7100XXALJ1
Can anyone tell me what to look for in order to create a log? (I don't expect a tutorial just someone point me in the right direction).
The problem is intermittent.

Give this a go, should allow you to create a log during the time you have the problem then you can see what android is or is not doing at the time.

Not something I have had myself but my gf has this same problem with her gs3. After having a look around our seems to be fairly common on the gs3 so any help with a fix would be great. I can only assume that it's something that will be fixed with a fw update from Samsung.

I have the same issue and so does my girlfriend on her SIII.. Can be really annoying as I might leave somewhere with wifi connectivity expecting the phone to automatically connect to 3g and I miss things like whatsapp messages with no warning :/
When I realise I do use the flight mode trick to fix it but it's annoying that it happens.

127 people viewed this and not even a simple yes or no or even post a link to a thread thats relevant to my problem? Posted this on another forum this morning and got 7 people that don't know if you can but are still trying to help me figure it out. Thought the whole reason for these website were to share ideas, develop things for the community and help other out with their issues. It's not like I didn't search all over the Internet before coming as a last resort instead of thinking of it and just posting it here first. What a pathetic place to get help. Have a nice day doing whatever it is ya'll people do.

Hmm... to be fair sometimes a lack of response is more a lack of confidence in any particular response that might be given. At times repercussions get ...awkward... for saying things that others might find ill informed, and as such a tendency to not say anything unless rather certain on the answer develops.
Anyhoo - I hadn't noticed the fact that the mobile network state listed itself as disconnected when connected to wifi... but ultimately (opens self up to possibly saying something stupid...) I can think of no good reason certain functions of the phone (at least mms or the tmobile app) would depend on mobile data being connected while wifi disconnected. Doing a quick test on my end - both of these functions seem to be behaving as expected while on wifi (tested with wifi calling NOT on, not sure that would throw a wrench in anything but you never know) - does the issue exist across wifi sources? That sort of thing might be something to bring up to a TMo service rep - not sure they will be of any help but given the response you've had here it couldn't be much worse, right?

Thank you for your response. I finally called Tmobile and they told me that their apps will only work on mobile data and are not meant to work over wifi even though they say my mobile data will always be on it just goes into a low power state and that MMS has to be set to auto receive which somehow was not checked. Everything seems to work fine. Just one question for you. Did i read that you said you could get on your tmobile account app with WiFi on? Again thank you very much for answering me back. Just was have a bad morning because i get alot of MMS messages for work and it got to me... Also I'm one of those guys that no believe in a stupid answer. I was able to, but perhaps it was just a trick of app cache as opposed to it actually working... strange they require data, you'd think if it was that much of a need they'd force it to engage and wake up the low power state instead of forcing you to turn off wifi. Ah well, learn something new everyday Sorry I wasn't more help
