It Keeps saying "Sorry, no data connection is available" I looked in my settings and said Mobile Data is disconnected.... Is this normal? Thanks In Advance.

127 people viewed this and not even a simple yes or no or even post a link to a thread thats relevant to my problem? Posted this on another forum this morning and got 7 people that don't know if you can but are still trying to help me figure it out. Thought the whole reason for these website were to share ideas, develop things for the community and help other out with their issues. It's not like I didn't search all over the Internet before coming as a last resort instead of thinking of it and just posting it here first. What a pathetic place to get help. Have a nice day doing whatever it is ya'll people do.

Hmm... to be fair sometimes a lack of response is more a lack of confidence in any particular response that might be given. At times repercussions get ...awkward... for saying things that others might find ill informed, and as such a tendency to not say anything unless rather certain on the answer develops.
Anyhoo - I hadn't noticed the fact that the mobile network state listed itself as disconnected when connected to wifi... but ultimately (opens self up to possibly saying something stupid...) I can think of no good reason certain functions of the phone (at least mms or the tmobile app) would depend on mobile data being connected while wifi disconnected. Doing a quick test on my end - both of these functions seem to be behaving as expected while on wifi (tested with wifi calling NOT on, not sure that would throw a wrench in anything but you never know) - does the issue exist across wifi sources? That sort of thing might be something to bring up to a TMo service rep - not sure they will be of any help but given the response you've had here it couldn't be much worse, right?

Thank you for your response. I finally called Tmobile and they told me that their apps will only work on mobile data and are not meant to work over wifi even though they say my mobile data will always be on it just goes into a low power state and that MMS has to be set to auto receive which somehow was not checked. Everything seems to work fine. Just one question for you. Did i read that you said you could get on your tmobile account app with WiFi on? Again thank you very much for answering me back. I was able to, but perhaps it was just a trick of app cache as opposed to it actually working... strange they require data, you'd think if it was that much of a need they'd force it to engage and wake up the low power state instead of forcing you to turn off wifi. Ah well, learn something new everyday Sorry I wasn't more help

Does anyone know the name of the three processes that report bandwidth usage to t-mobile. . .
And the wifi tethering manager app?
someone showed me an easy method for defeating all of these in person, but I don't remember the app/process names.
FOR CLARIFICATION THIS NOT AN APN TRICK OR WORKAROUND
1. I am aware of the APN tricks, but there is a simple software workaround that I have seen.
2. There is a lack of info on this procedure and the willingness of those in the know to share.
I have seen a demonstration and have personally inspected the device I saw it executed on with no APN change and zero data usage displayed and or detected for the month.
I have found some posts where people spoke of the process in cryptic codes, but that's it. I know it involves killing three processes which seem like they normally belong on the phone to allow normal operation . . .
You can't do anything about the throttling. I think you're mistaking it for tethering

Yeah you can't just uninstall an app and get rid of the the reporting. All of your data that they measure goes through them, so they measure it on their end. You can change the APN to try and not have it count, but I think they closed down most of them.
I am aware of all of the apn tricks, but there is a simple software workaround that I have seen.
The problem is lack of info on this procedure and the willingness of those in the know to share.
I have seen a demonstration and have personally inspected the device I saw it executed on with no apn change and zero data usage displayed and detected for the month every month.
I have found some posts where people spoke of the process in cryptic codes, but that's it.
It may also be worth mentioning that the device I witnessed was an SGH-T989 running a port of at&t skyrocket ICS with no bloatware.
All apns were the default, it was a very simple software mod.
It is possible. Perhaps something in the data packets. A minor change. A simple omission of certain bits, scrambling the sequence. . . something, but all I remember is it worked.

Regardless of what makes it work, I remember that it involved three separate processes.

And they have a good reason not to. Not sure how you guys feel about this but I'm with them if they don't want to share because as soon as the word is out, there are some that abuse the exploit and its the reason why its patched at a faster pace. Might sound greedy and selfish but a lot of people are just leeches (like myself) who often times don't give anything in return, not even a simple thanks

Since everyone here is essentially on the same hardware and network, I want to know if anyone else is having the same issues I am.
I can not get the 1.fm app to work on the Sprint network (3G or 4G). It will only work if I am on a WiFi network.
I enjoy listening to Chillout Lounge, and I'd like to listen to the station in my car, but I keep getting a message saying "Internet Connection Lost.....Reconnecting".
I want to see if it's a problem with my phone, a problem with the sprint network, or maybe a problem with my modem firmware.
If anyone can get it to work, let me know what Modem you have.
Thanks.

My 3G and 4G connections are quite good actually. I've even tethered my laptop through 4G and used RDP to connect to a remote machine and it seems quite stable. RDP can certainly have issues if the connection has issues.
But I've also seen issues when tying to use Rad.io. Which makes me think it's not just a software issue.

Okay what about like Pandora or Ihart or any of those? I could be a memory issue on your phone but I doubt it. It just might be how those apps work are written etc.

Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate the help, but have you taken a moment to load the app I mentioned? It would be a lot more helpful if someone can test this app on their phone.
I honestly don't care about Pandora. It's not the program that is giving me a problem. What I need is for someone to confirm they are having similar issues that I am having with the programs I am trying to run. I don't want to run a ton of tests on my phone before it is determined the issue is even in my phone.
Just to let you know, Pandora does seem to work, but I'm not trying to get that program to work.

How on earth does that lead to more questions. You are seriously over-complicating a simple request. Download the app, try using it on the cell network, let me know the results. That's all I am asking for.
I'm just trying to collect information. You are doing everything except give me the information I am requesting. So if you aren't willing to help me by doing this simple task and give me the results, then please go away.

I'm sorry, sometimes the only way to get the message across to people is to just be blunt about it. I was just trying to get some information that he was refusing to provide.
He was making suggestions that were aimed at diagnosing my phone. Before I can take that step, I need to determine if the problem is even in my phone. For that, I need people to try the app on their phones. If the majority of people that test the app say it is working for them, then I can determine my next step and go from there.
I'm not asking for anyone to do anything that would harm their phone or have them invest more than a couple of minutes of effort. The reviews on the Play Store page do not provide the information I am looking for. They are just commenting that it doesn't work. I am trying to find commonality.
If you were cooking something and go up to another person and ask them if what you are cooking needed a little salt, and without even doing a taste test, they start asking if I used a lot of garlic or have the temperature set up to high, then they are not being helpful. And having to remind them that all you want is their opinion on the salt, and they still refuse to do a taste test, it gets a little annoying.

Thanks,
I just noticed something new when I tried to play that station
While at home, when I play a station, I get a little message saying "Lost Internet Connection....reconnecting" and it does try to reconnect, but just keeps looping the same error. Now that I'm at work, I get a new message saying "Internet Connection Error. Please try again later" and it stops trying to play anything.
This kinda leads me to thinking it might be an issue with the actual sprint network in my area. But I'd still like some more people to try it out to get a clearer picture.

Other streaming apps are NOT working. I already stated the Rad.io will not stream the same stations in post #3.
And those reviews don't have enough information to conclude it is a problem with the app. Only that it is not working for them. If I could talk to those people I would, but I can only talk to the people here, which is why I want to see if anyone else has the same problem. If I can find someone with the same problem, then we can go to the next step, which would be looking for the common elements (modem, rom, location, etc)
Knowing if the app works or not for other people is far more helpful for me. Through all this, have you even tried the app on your phone? Hell, you might even like the app because most of those stations play some really good stuff you don't normally hear on a typical radio station.

Trust me I understand what you are saying in post 5# you answered Pandora another streaming app is working. I know you don't want or care about Pandora it was to test if Sprint was the issue which appear to not be the case. And honestly at the time I was not in a position to d/l or test had crappy reception at where I was when I answered you the last time. And at home is bogus because I have a Airrave. I am at work now and d/l to test. To me reviews show a possible issue seeing one was like 2 days ago complaining about the same thing even some of the good comments suggest connection issues. (did have another review but after rereading it the user had other issues)
Testing right now got 5 or 6 bars 4g and same issue and I am in the bean. So I stand by what I said in post 7 (See screenshot)

GREAT!!** Nice variety of styles rangeing numerous channels w/crystal clarity! [**SOLE negative] I can/able to get internet access/connection ONLY via community TWC WiFi "hotspot" (@times: mobile network... barely!!) Thus, constant buffering / gaps occur. But, my connection limitation aside, 1.FM still allows for great listening!! {{ especially after phone's positioned for optimum reception }}

Thank you. That screenshot tells me a lot. I am assuming you are rooted, so I'm hoping someone who isn't rooted can try it (fat chance of that considering this is XDA, but I can hope).
And one of the issues with those reviews is there is almost no mention of what network they are running on, so I can't use them to determine if it's a problem with the program on certain networks.
The reason I didn't care for Pandora is because it doesn't work like the 1.fm program (or other internet radio station apps). Pandora can't tune into the broadcast stations I like to listen to.

I understand they don't work the same but streaming is streaming proves network is good (which is my only point). I know there is a lot of unknown with the reviews but it can be a indication that it isn't you.
And to answer your question yes I am on TPR a stockish ROM.
After the first blissful week of my note 2 working properly, my wifi started a trend where it like to constantly download who knows what (orange arrow constantly blinking), which is a problem many others are having.
I've been scouring these (and others) forums for a while and am about to lose my sanity.
I have read through every thread on the issue and have tried every fix mentioned, nothing works. From what I can see, there are many people who STILL cant get their wifi to stop acting this way.
Any up to date info on this? My resources are exhausted, and I feel like throwing this phone into a wall.
Chances are if it wasn't answered in the places you looked. It will not help by opening a new thread.
Where is the issue in WiFi data icons being on? Sorry don't see how this is a problem.
so many factors...im not sure you can classify this as an issue, and i havent heard any complaints around here...from background sync to push data I mean cmon

I don't use a MVNO, so I am not sure which regular troubleshooting steps would clear away your carrier settings. (I'm thinking using EFS Clear in Odin is the only concern, but that is sometimes needed for modem issues.)
Based off that rom's thread, you must be using the NS4G modem. Since your issue is with connectivity:
Perform a CWM backup of your current setup.
Flash an Epic modem rom and FC09 modem. (You can flash the modem using CWM. There's a thread in the dev forum w/ links.)
Try testing connection again.
I'd normally tell a Sprint Epic user to boot into FC09 multiboot and update profile & PRL, but I don't even think the PRL update would work for you. I'd then say, start from scratch by using Odin to flash FC09 with repartition checked. If they still had issues with connectivity, then I'd recommend using EFS clear in Odin when reflashing either just the FC09 modem or the entire FC09 tar.
Because you are on another carrier, I'm weary of suggesting you use Odin so quickly. If you haven't already, dive into your phone settings and document your carrier specific info you changed to get it working. This way, if you end up doing something that resets your original changes, then you can reconfigure it.
So give the suggestion that is listed above a try.
Since I'm very much a noob myself, I'm only tossing this out to possibly trigger an idea for someone else: Would perhaps the issue lie in the Build.prop or one of those similar files? I've poked around so many of them I can't remember which hold what tidbits of info... I know the Build.prop holds most of the primary carrier info, but I seem to recall another one that stored a bunch of info for a bunch of the other carriers (though that might have been for roaming and may not be of any help here).
*shrug* Otherwise, I's gots nothin' lol
Hi guys,
Few days ago my S3 received official 4.3 android update, and weird things happening after that.
When I connect to internet, via wi-fi or data, phone automatically download a small file named "files.zip". And it happening every time I turn on wi-fi or data... I can`t find this file in downloads or anywhere else. When I try to open, it says "cannot open".
Second weird thing - browser often redirect me to a advertising or span webs. For instance, I try to open youtube.com, it opens different web with advertisement.
Anyone have an ideas how can I fix this?
We need proof screen shots video something

You might be in the wrong forum. Your profile says you're in Lithuania, using a GSM provider there. Is that still the case?

damn your luck were still stuck on 4.1.2 if your having the issues you say you are with what sounds like maleware. have you installed anything to check phone. over here we have apps like lookout security. i kno nod makes a phone app. you could always do a factory reset back to out the box state. reinstall apps one by one to check it out. sound like you have a app with crap in it.

Factory reset helped to solve "files.zip" autodownload problem, but phone is still laggy. It takes 3-5 seconds to turn on screen when I press power button in sleep mode. Applications become laggy. I will try to reflash 4.3 via KIES, if the problem remain, back to 4.1.2 will be optimal decision.
Thanks for help guys, and sorry again for getting lost in galaxy s3 forums
