Hi to everyone.
My name is Tom. I am a former Mt3gs owner, up untill mine broke a few months ago. And refused to pay the $200 for a refurb slide,so I have been using a borrowed non android phone from a co-worker since it broke.
I work at walmart as a tire and lube tech. Went to school for automotive and got an associates from my local community college in 06, I own a 93 celica convertiable and a 89 4runner. Hoping to swap the turbo motor for the car sometime in the next year. I enlisted in the National Guard last year, got chaptered out and am trying to get back in soon.
Well, enough about me. Just saying hi to everyone.
Should I get black or white(haven't seen the white in person but was told its more of a pearl white rather then plain white) any one have a pic of both?
Not gonna wait for the s3 I'm content with the s2, imo no need for quad core yet.
SGS2 yes or no
My opinion, having had a mt3g, mt3gs, mt4gs previously, my answer would be yes. I have grown attached to slide out keyboards but find the on screen buttons large enough to not be a hassle. I also like usb otg, only thing I do not like is needing a mhl adapter to stream video to external monitors. It's a solid phone, one of the most popular android phones ever released actually.
I too liked the keyboard, but that's what broke on mine(ribbon disconnection) rendering it useless, then borrowed my wifes spare side and a few day later the screen froze so that's 2slides broken in a matter or days lol I actually liked swype so I thnk ill adpapt quickly to to lack of keyboard. And our work termnals are all touch.
my wife is also getting an s2. So ill have her old slide to tinker with to learn about this rooting thing.
Now its just a color decision.
Don't upgrade. Save up and get one of the quad cores in a month or get the xperia s, it looks way better.
If you're into large screens then get the note. But really don't get this one. It isn't worth it at this time of the year, we're at the cusp of a generation cycle.

and it only came out 4 months ago lol, you can just never keep up. I would still get it, this phone is amazing and wont be outdated for a long time yet.
upgrade as in signing an extending 2 year contract?
I would get the white one. It has that WOW factor. The back feels like cheap plastic compared to the black back though.... but I use a skin to the protect my phone.
why not get one black and one white.
I've owned both colors and the white one is CLEEEAAAANNN
BTW if you're planning to upgrade (2 years contract)... contact t-mobile's retention department they'll hook you up. Probably $250 credit + bogo phone deal.
The white would be my choice...... Too. Considering ou can sell it for more. And maybe u should wait for the quad core phonea to come out.

Yes signing a new contract. Well we did go into our only local store lastweek and the sales guy acted annoyed that we even came in, then told us they were out of the s2 and wouldn't be getting any in soon (claimed they've beenout for a month) I called bs but my wife told me to just let it go, so we left. Very bad salesman and I was ready to by it outright if he wold had not been a jerk. So maybe ill tell my wife to call them ad speak to a rep.
Because we are again getting the same phone we will end up with one of each, juet to tell em apart like we did with the slides. I had white cuz she picked the red first.
I see no need for a quad core phone, seeing as the dual core isn't even being used at the full potential yet. I give it another year or 2. I don't see the s2 being outdated anytime soon.
Anyone have a pic of both colors?real pic not off google or generic. Want to see the whites finish.
I would take some pics for you but don't have my camera on me right now. You were correct earlier in that it is a ceramic white. Think of like the color of the storm troopers in Star Wars. I am much happier I got mine in white than black. It really stands out in a crowd of cell phones that all look the same nowadays no matter who manufactured them and as someone stated before it is very clean looking.
I got a helluva a deal on mine. I got it when they first brought out the white back in December on sale for 149.99 and after a 50 mail in rebate only paid 99.99 for it.
I got the black, wishing I got the white though, the white looks beautiful, though to be honest my 4.52" screen makes my S2 stand out just about everywhere. Got mine on a free phone deal, paid $250.00 got $250.00 back mail in rebate. Lol

Not to put you down or anything but the last sentence you said really gets me. This is not against you but against everyone who gets trapped into thinking this way.
You did not get the phone for 99.99 at all. You got the phone for 149.99 and had the opportunity to get a $50 Visa gift card from a third party promotions company for remembering to fill the forms out correctly and mailing the rebate form in.
If you had to pay out 149.99 when you got it, that is what you paid for the device. I wish everyone can understand this simple fact as most "rebates" that are sent in are rejected due to a minor spelling mistake or the return address does not exactly meet what is in their systems. The rest never get sent in.
I apologize for my minor diatribe but I just had to say something.
Great Phone, I chose the white.... Looks way better than the black model...

Lol...in your opinion. I am the opposite. The white one looks FUGLY to me.
Also some things I noticed while comparing black to white side by side.....
1. Black phone makes the screen "pop" more.
2. Black phone has way less light leaking from the touch buttons.
And then two other reasons I dislike the white.
3. White phone gets dirty VERY easily
4. White phone makes me think of Apple's white head phones and white ipod and stupid commercials.

I understand where you are coming from but, after receiving the rebate I got 50.00 of that 149.99 back so in the end I did only pay 99.99 for the phone. If people can't read and understand directions well enough to fill out a simple rebate form correctly then they shouldn't have a smart phone in the first place!! On another note though, 149.99 was still cheaper than I could have gotten the black one for(199.99). I also am glad that it was on sale for the 149.99 price or I probably would have bought the HTC Amaze(229.99 at the time). After reading on here how many people swapped it out for this phone, i am glad I got the GSII from the get go.

This is what my wife and I did...she got the white one. The back of the white one is smooth whereas the black one is texturized. I find it easier to operate one handed because of this.
I share your feelings on the quad core. I'm a light gamer otherwise don't do anything super CPU intensive so a quad core would not help me at all. I also agree the GS2 will be a strong phone for quite some time.

1) perhaps but regardless of the color, the screen is super vibrant.
2) not only that but when in the dark, the touchkeys illuminate the entire front white faceplate which i think makes for a very neat effect.
3) False, things dont stick to this particular phone. Dont make assumptions on things you dont own ( I suppose since ypu have yhe black version)
4) Thats marketting for ya, it works. Kudos to apple for having such successful campaigns and time for you to stop hating

Has anybody else run into this?
I noticed it the other day when I was out in the sun. It is more prominent when viewing a white background. It looks similar to a phone screen that has suffered water damage, but my phone has never been exposed to water.
There are streaks of grey and white swirls in long squarish patterns. I looked it up and this has also been an issue for some note 5 users. It looks perfectly fine under normal conditions, but at certain angles with the brightness up or under the sun specifically, it is very noticeable.
My guess is uneven coating of glue on panel to glass maybe? I'm returning mine. They (tmo) at first tried to argue that I was past my 20 day deadline. I argued that this isn't a matter of preference but rather defect in workmanship or materials. Then they said to call insurance. Escalated it repeatedly until they agreed to send me a new one under warranty and I also refused to pay the 5 dollar fee, so they waved it. So if anybody else experiences this, just be firm and persistent. Still love t mobile. But business is still business.

Everyone has that issue... it's annoying to say the least and I make sure to tell everyone who has something positive to say about this phone that it has this issue because Samsung seems to think it's okay to release phones like this into the wild.

I got my replacement yesterday. This one has minor* blotches, but nowhere near as bad as the device I swapped for. I can live with this one, though I shouldn't have to.
This phone is fantastic, but I'm not so sure about any future devices. At least not amoled. My note 4 had uneven colors, and was very yellowish. I'm really not impressed with Samsung panels.
Okay now that the snow has cleared up and Denver is getting real sun... this isn't much better. Disappointed in QC. They should offer returns for other devices no questions asked. This is absurd considering the price. I love very thing about this phone, except this particular issue. It could indeed be my last samsung. Between this and the issues with SIM on the S4. Next time I think I'm going to go for a nexus.

Damn. I just want a flagship that is by merit worth the money. I'm looking at the S7 edge. But I'm for sure going to have to take it outside and look at it before I purchase.
These phones are way too expensive to have issues like this be so prevalent. That's just crazy.

I'm still debating whether to upgrade or not. The s7 edge and the s6 edge plus are way more similar than different. I wish google would make a phone that has the same build quality as the s7 edge or s6 edge plus with vanilla android. Phones are getting way too expensive. The s7 edge in Canada is 1000 dollars lol

I am so glad someone else pointed this out, as I was driving myself crazy trying to think if I had done something to it. It is truly unfortunate that they would consider this satisfactory build quality.
In a weird way, this thread has provided me with a scintilla of closure. I love this phone, but I -- like you -- cannot justify the price with the workmanship.

I thought maybe I did something to damage it as well until I got a second and third one. So no, you aren't crazy, nor did you do anything to it. Just an amazingly absurd QC issue on Samsung's part. I blown away by the lack of quality control and that they would even release these. Its sad because it is a beautiful phone.
I noticed the same thing with my device in bright sunlight! It's really only noticeable outside, which is very weird. Anyway, it didnt bother enough to make a fuss about it, but I'm getting the S7 edge today, so... water under the bridge at this point
Just got my note 7 in the mail. Looks amazing. However I do see the light around the sides hitting the metal bezel and on the top right there's a bit more of a gap and I'm actually able to squeeze the screen closer to the bezel and close the gap. Is this normal? I can fit paper in between quite a bit too
Why won't this XDA app let me upload pics! Keeps saying network error.
The gap is a manufacturing intention according to the user manual, page 228. I guess it depends on your expectation and willingness to take the Note as it is. Mine is sealed on the replacement, I feel that Samsung made mention of the gap in the user manual to cover manufacturing tolerances this time around.
I think this because the S7 Edge and S6 Edge+ had wide ranging display fitments between identical models, in my experience.
Can you slide a piece of paper inside?
With the rush to get replacement units out, I expect the defect rate will be higher than usual. You should do an exchange, otherwise you'll have crap under that screen eventually.
Sent from my SM-N930T using Tapatalk
I dont think that gap is normal, I'm looking at my device right now and I can tell you there shouldnt be a gap large enough for paper to get through, or that will be some low level IP68 rating...
God I'm pissed. Why can't I upload pics on here? Yes I can fit paper through all around. Only top right spot can I push the screen and close the gap a bit. I called Verizon and they won't ship me out a new one unless I pay $215 again. Upgrade crap. I can't afford another $215 our of my account and wait 10 days for a refund!
Ya that's BS. If that were to happen to me I'd walk into my retailer and demand a new unit especially when it's still under warranty. To me it would clearly be an imperfect device and when I'm paying that much money for it I expect the best it can be.

Yeah i can slide paper inside but it stops a few mm in and doesn't extend so I can see it under the screen or anything. Only the top right can I push the screen down and close the gap more. Everywhere else is tight but can still see light reflecting off bezel. Idk if that's normal or not. At this point idk what to do. I can't even upload pics on here.

Good luck man hopefully all goes well and you get a device you're happy with. If they give you another one I'd inspect it in store too.
Why the hell can't I upload a pic of the gap...tried with the note and my s6... says network error.
Here is the original thread on the topic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-7/help/please-check-phone-build-quality-issue-t3451813
Idk what to do at this point. I bet most of them have somewhat of a gap. Maybe I should just keep it.
Have a read of that thread, it's perfectly normal on some units and doesn't affect the device. If you're worried, give it a bath and take action in these early days. Enjoy your phone, it's stunning and I'm sure it's water resistant still.
Okay. Im feeling better about it after reading that thread.... the neo hybrid case I order will cover up the leaks anyway...
So I shouldnt worry that one spot of the gap(top right) I can pinch and see the gap decrease a bit? I cant do this to any other spot.
Just upload to an image host site and post a link...
I would try out the device in water, it's likely very well sealed but will give you peace of mind, if it fails, new device, otherwise it's a device you know is perfectly fine.

** CORRECTED TITLE **
Hey guys
I just got my Note 10+ I think judging by the pictures some Note10+ models have a top alignment defect. It's very hard to see sometimes but can be seen. If you look at the top side where the glass meets the top bezel you will see a gap which looks normal but had a white or grayish line that goes between the glass and frame. I'm not sure it's it's normal or not but it's more visible in daylight or shining a light on it. Check this out
https://imgur.com/a/1Q1wn53
I went out to see if other Note 10+ had these issue and they did some are less noticeable but is still present. I also checked the S10 and Note 9 and does not seem to have this issue
Thought I might share a photo to show you my point. Look at the photo you will see that the white line is visible between the gap on the top. This white line starts from both sides of the ear speaker cutout and runs till just about the corner almost and stops.
I am trying to see if this is a known issue. If others have the same issue. Please comment.
My Note 10+ does not have such a big gap.
I can barley put a piece of paper between the display and the metal frame
Also what you are see is probably the water proofing rubber ring.
Where did you get the Note 10 plus?

Nope not a fake Note 10+ at all. That photo I posted was taken at a Best buy demo that they had standing up. So took the photo of that. And I really zoomed in. That's not mine, but I have the similar problem. And I buy all my phone's from carries and them too they have this issue. You just can't see it cause it's in the small gap on top. I will try to get some more photos of different models including mine. I just posted that one cause it was the best shot as a reference.
Here are two more shots of the same phone posted above at Best buy
https://imgur.com/a/d9Ftr8h
You can still see the gap. Left and right side of the ear speaker cutout. When not really zoomed that much.
Demo unit. Disregard.
Could be bent, could be something else.
Retail does not have a gap between the frame and glass.

Well mine does and I will post a picture with that too. And mine is a carrier version. Soon will be posted. There should be no gap at all maybe the one you guys received doest have that issue but mine does. So maybe I'll see if they can exchange mine.
As mafy31 says, the title of your post is highly missleading, sound as if ALL note 10+ have a flaw that only YOU could find, which clearly is not the case, yes, your device may be a flawed one, if so, go to exchange it, or whatever solution your vendor is willing to provide
Well it might be the screen protector that Samsung installed.

Nope it's not cause I have the whitedome screen installed. I took of the original one off. I have always had Samsung product and never had issue. Just this and the other model S6 that had an issue of being scratched out of the box. I was the first one to notice this staright out of the box and posted which later escalated being here. And people were noticing. Obviously this is nowhere near the same but was a manufacturing defect. Which I put into motion where I live and eventually they brought that to the attention of the Samsung rep and later had it swapped when they say indeed was a defect and swapped out mine after 5 phones or so later. They needed to bring 5 phones only 1 was perfect after the second batch arrived at the carrier store. It was then all over xda this issue.
Trust me guys I have been using Samsung mobile since the first release. I just want people to tell me if they have this issue too and have the bad units not all to be replaced. Like I said it's hard to see it, but it's present on the carrier demo phones and mine. But later on when I post mine you will see it's there. And I am someone very picky about phones to be perfect. I always buy from carriers. My mistake was I should have maybe bought from the store and examine there. Then to have it shipped. But they didn't have in store so had no choice. Sorry for the long post.
Well, then, you admit that your unit is flawed, but the title of the post sugests that ALL devices are that way, which is not the case

They all have it, it's hard to see it. Some are worst than others. It's still a flaw, since on 5 units I looked at has the same issue. This line can be seen on all units. I checked more today and they all have it. The only difference is some show more gap space then others. People think that the gap space shown are big, when it's not. That has been zoomed in. So yes most have it. I checked today as well 10 of them have it just lesser gap. I don't come on these forums to create things that does not exist. Provide me a close up shot of the top bezel like I mentioned above. You will see it's there. The gap is small when using the phone in a regular position. When looking closer you can see it. So therefore
A) The first batch got this issue which is maybe what is supplied here or what I got that had this issue (first run)
B) The second batch corrected the issue.
That is my conclusions.

Can you verify when the production date is on your model. Thank you for the update!
I hate that I'm inspecting my 10+, that I got from Samsung, for any little thing. No gaps or irregularities that I can see. I agree that you should not make it sound as though all devices have a problem when they do not!

Sorry if my title seems misleading, I was just putting the awareness out that the Note 10+ has some screen alignment issues on the top side. I know maybe lots with disagree or maybe might not see it, but I have gotten in touch with the manager at the carrier, and they looking into the issue, them too they see it as an issue. They said, its not a big issue or a big major flaw, but according what the manager said, it does looks like there is a gap and is visible when looking closely. Yes its not a big deal, but if I am putting down more than 1000+ down, I expect the phone to be flawless. If this was a phone that was $200 -$400 I wouldn't careless.
I'm just put the statement out there so that if you guys do have an issue, I can bring that to the attention to Samsung. I do not know if you guys can remember, the S6 did not have a major design flaw too, but what it did have was a manufacturing defect from the company that the phones, straight out of the carries box, was coming all scratched up. After investigation the issue, I once again, got in touch with the manager, which the manager got in touch with the Samsung rep, and sent all the received units that the carrier got, sent back, and the next bunch came out of the factory perfect.
Like I said, I am a big fan of Samsung, I practically have all the models, minus the Note 7. So just putting the word out, like I said before, sorry if the title seems misleading. It has been corrected.
Thread title made me curious. Investigated my N975-F. Damn you,OP.
I know what you mean cause I am seeing it on my device.
Maybe it allows for the glass to expand in hotter/warmer environments and contracting in colder/less warmer.
I don't necessarily think it's a flaw.
Anyway here are 2 pics of my phone.

I'm glad you found what I am talking about ?. At least we have found someone in here that finally understands my point. People in here jump to conclusions without having to do the homework. You can see clearly on yours, you have the same issue as mine.
People told me the Note 10+ shot I posted earlier a fake lol. Yep that's right the best buy put a fake replica Note 10+ functional device.
It's not very visible but to me it is cause I see the little imperfections. Maybe it's a water seal maybe it's the adhesive glue but whatever it maybe it's right between the gap of the glass and frame. Beside the speaker and right before the curve of the glass it stops. Once you see it. It annoys you lol.
I can bet you probably its on all Note 10+ devices. So far I seen it on more than a dozen devices. I dunno how wide spread it is.
Prior to the release of the Galaxy Fold I held a high interest in the device, it looked to be the next evolution in smartphones and in some ways it is on the cutting edge. On an International flight the guy sitting next to me allowed to examine his Fold Device. My first impression was this is pretty slick until I unfolded it. I had suspicions the display wasn't going to be the seamless beauty seen in the promotional videos Samsung distributed prior to it's release. I didn't ask the user how long he had the device but it had only been released a few months earlier. Maybe it's just me but the crease running down the middle of the display is very pronounced and tough to ignore. Here's Samsung's official statement regarding the crease.
"You may notice the crease at the center of the main screen due to characteristic of new Polymer material but it is a normal characteristic of device designed for the Infinity Flex Display. It will not affect the display’s quality"
"You may notice the crease" You'd be blind if you didn't notice it and I'm curious about their definition of the quality of the display.
I held off on acquiring a Fold and happy I did based feedback I've read. Also I was surprised to read Samsung is releasing the Fold Special Edition which is identical to the current Fold for $1,090 USD. That's close to half the price of it at release! A big price reduction is concerning but understandable since the device had a number of quality issues, hopefully Samsung has addressed most of these.
My biggest deal killer is the crease so my question is how bad is it for people using it as their daily driver? Any word the soon to arrive Fold 2 has improved on this obvious blemish? I know if I dropped two stacks on a smartphone I might be hesitant to throw shade on it but seriously, how bad is the crease?
no disrespect, but ill be blunt here.
you dont have a clue about what you're talking about, you're just scared to throw down "2 stacks". looking for small excuses to keep yourself from pulling the trigger.
you're letting all the stupid reviews from the big "reviewers" (most of them who are useless), influence your views.
it seems like you did less with it in your hands than at a samsung experience store which is a shame.
if you had actually turned on the screen, turned up/down the brightness to suit the atmosphere, it would be evident that the crease you call an "obvious blemish" is pretty much no where to be seen.
once you tilt the phone, then yes, you can see it, but who uses their phone tilted?
you sound so sure in your post, yet your lack of knowledge is all telling.
fyi, that special edition you talk about? its rumored to have the same design as the first fold, with this years processor. it has nothing to do with the z fold 2.
the z fold 2 should be at the same price as the fold, possibly a tad bit higher.
good luck with waiting for the fold to be perfect, quite a few years away, probably never id assume.

"You're just scared to throw down 2 stacks"
Wow, a certified mind reader! Money is only a problem when you don't have any...
"If you had actually turned on the screen"
YOU have no clue what you're talking about, the device was powered up. I spent at least 20 minutes using controls and features.
"Once you tilt the phone, then yes, you can see it, but who uses their phone tilted"
The crease was visible regardless of the viewing angle.
"You're letting all the stupid reviews from the big "reviewers" (most of them who are useless), influence your views"
So the "reviewer's" are useless and I should disregard them and put my faith in YOU?
Next time you respond to a post do everyone a favor, stick to what you KNOW, not what you ASSUME! You contributed very little to my inquiry about the crease, instead tossing around childish insults. Very inappropriate in this forum, get a grip or zip it!
Easy now guys. While it's ok to disagree, lets do it in a civil and respectful manner. Thank you.

I you have the money and you are fine with the small front display, it will easily be your daily phone.
For me, it's also a perfect desktop replacement, too.
Samsung shipped my Fold 5G with free buds and an assurance for a display replacement with worldwide premium concierge service.

hmmm.. so you spend 20 mins with the fold, and in your eyes, now you've experienced the fold. YET, you still come to a forum and say "how bad is the crease?"
makes no sense to me.

you'll have yet another year to think about if you want to drop two stacks or not.
good luck

Thanks for the helpful input. With respect to the Display Replacement, any information as to whether or not Samsung would offer warranty replacement for a visible crease? It would seem they won't, implying it's a known defect they can't yet address. That's my biggest issue. Font Size can be increased, in doing so does it alter the symmetry of the entire display composition? Also, which model are you using? I'm leaning towards a Fold 2 variant of the SMF9070.
From my point of view of owning the phone, the crease does not bother me in the slightest, I literally don't even notice it any more. Everyone has mentioned the crease in all reviews and most also say within a day of using it you don't even notice that it is there
I've also added a screen protector to the front screen and the folding screen which keeps it clean and fresh (can be peeled off it needed), I also have the free screen replacement within the first 12 months.
In terms of the quality of the display I can't fault it, colour accuracy is very good as well as low light, it's very easy to view in sunlight as well. The hinge is very solid and I don't feel like I have to baby the device when using it.
You seem more hung up on the crease so just to say again, I literally forget it is there when I am using the device, it doesn't impact the phone at all. A visible crease is not a defect, it's there by design for the folding screen, don't forget this is new technology, it's likely the next few versions will have this crease, maybe it will get slightly better as they go forward.
In terms of font size, I have changed the dpi to 712 in developer setting and that works well for me, that's my sweet spot for using the phone.
With the larger front screen on the Fold 2, I would highly recommend picking that up when it's released. However if you are hung up on a crease on the screen, you might be best just getting say the new Note 20 and sticking with a normal form factor. For new technology, there has to be a small compromise for early generation products.

This is great input, thanks for sharing your experience. As mentioned I did have an opportunity to demo the Fold but it's the only one I've used to date. On this particular device the crease wasn't subtle, it would be difficult for most to ignore. Not sure what the owner's usage patterns are or other measures he may have employed. It's possible he used a screen protector which enhanced the crease, I didn't ask. When the Fold 2 is released I'll spend some time with it. I don't expect a virtually creaseless display but I would be very disappointed if it was similar to the one I've used.
I'm thinking it should look more like the flip which is less pronounced in video; I've not had a personal fondling of either so my view's here are strictly vicarious. I'm pretty sure I'm in though, I talked myself into it for round one but eventually bailed out with the delays. This time I'm hopeful the launch wont give me enough time to get antsy and I'm make it to pay dirt. Just got to find out about root...
I have had the fold for months, there is a crease, doesn't bother me at all, your mileage may vary!
I have the Fold and I never see the crease when used in front of me, you only see it when you're about to close it looking at it on an angle. It's not a problem at all, and trust me I'm very fussy with smartphones. It's not a deal breaker.
