Hi there, i just got myself a Note 3 Neo (SM-N7505), but there is something strange when i connect it to the PC. Nothing happens... downloaded Kies, and everything, but as i connect the USB cable, there is only charging on the phone, no option to select USB mode... nothing... just charging.
I'm new on Touchwiz, and Samsung in general, so all help is appreciated.
Thanks.
And have a nice day.
Just download usb drivers for note neo

Maybe I wasn't clear in my question, I downloaded all recommended software to establish connection. Drivers are up to date. The funny part is on the phones' side. There are no USB options on my phone, just plain charging.
As I said I'm new to Samsung, not to Android.
Did you try different usb ports?

Yupp, tried multiple cables with different PCs, same result. I think i'm gonna send it back for repairs, i believe it may be a hardware problem.
Yeah seems to be a hardware issue.. keep us posted..

Thank you for all the replies.
The story so far: the phone is in transit for diagnostics and eventual repairs in service. I'll see what's wrong with it.
Honestly i'm a bit anxious, because the services here in Romania often just throw a factory reset, and they call it a day. I hope that it wont be the case this time.
Off topic: I quite like this device. Got used to it in a few days (despite it's large size). And tho there are a lot of negative vibes regarding this phone, I honestly think it feels and acts as a high end phone. Yea.. the pricing.... i got mine for about $410, when the Note 3 costs around $600. So there is still a great price diff. at least in Romania. (the phone was "resealed" but in new condition, with a price drop of about 15% at a big online store)
Maybe this hardware issue is inherited from this "re-sealing" of a faulty product? I don't know. Anyhow i have 24 months warranty so i'm not concerned.
You bought the resealed version for 400$ you mean?

Yupp. But it was in brand spanking new condition, it even had the plastic on the screen and camera lens.
Hmm.. brand new Note 3 Neos' are available in India for that price..

Okay it seems that it was a hardware issue. The phone was repaired, and it's been shipped back home.

What kind of puter? You got the right samsung drivers?
I tried on my laptop (Mac) and desktop (windows) and yes they have the right drivers
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Well your mac laptop won't need drivers. If it's plugged in and your phone has the settings box checked for "MTP" then it'll be recognized. Did you download Android File Transfer? You'll need it to transfer files.
Is USB debugging checked? If so, uncheck it and try to install the drivers again. If you can't, shoot me your Gmail and I'll help you through G Talk.
Custom kernel? Make sure USB fast charge is off.

"Made in Korea" means it was manufactured by Samsung directly and not outsourced to some factory in China.
If you're unhappy with the signal drops you can try to get another replacement, or look at the threads here on signal drops for solutions

If you're within the return period, they will replace your device no questions asked. If you're over it, it would depend on the store you go to but more likely than not you have a good chance.
Just make sure you're stock and not rooted

Crazy story but my nexus started having this crazy charging issue which spread into a USB issue no matter the computer they would all say could not recognize This device ..I thought my phone was through because it was the international version therefore I'd have to get in contact with another country to get this resolved *sidenote I tried mobile Odin and made my phone sort of unusable for a while * ..after much debate I figured I could fix this myself ..scouring the internet seeing tons of people with the same problem I decided to repair this because it was not software and it was not gunk inside the port ..so I ordered the part and saw how relatively easy it was to repair it was ridiculously simple and here I was going to pay someone to fix it lol...thanks google and Samsung for simplicity..that being said ill fix other peoples problem if anyone has it hit me up anytime

actually yea it was pretty simple i think anyone could do it, also does ur pc recognize it? thats when i realized i had a usb port issue
well i tried to use n7105 pit file on my i317 but unfortunately it failed the process and since then my mobile troubles me a lot to charge and my mobile is not recognized by my pc whatsoever.. but the thing is if i connect my mobile in downloading mode with odin, it works perfectly.. even when it gets charging from pc, pc does not recognize it even though i have installed kies and samsung drivers.. is there anyway to find the solution please?
Sounds like you need a new charging port
Usually caused by plugging in a slightly wet usb cord.
Or the female end (your phone) is dirty andbor corroded.
Theyre not expensive to fix.

I would have agreed with you completely if my phone was making same troubles connecting with odin in downloading mode..
It connects in downloading with odin with no problems whatsoever that is what making me think that hardware part should be alright on the other hand it rarely connects in mtp mode with pc for barely 15 seconds and suddenly goes to dock mode.. sometimes nothing pops up.. do you still think it has to be something with charging port only? If it is so I am ready to pay for it...
Thanks for reply btw..
Its my best guess. Without seeing the phone I can only speculate. I replaced mine for around $65. Depending on where you live theres likely a few cell repair shops around

I don't understand, if you bought the phone new then the charging port should be covered under warranty. Just take it back to where you bought it or send it in to sammy for exchange.

Galaxy note 2 - usb charging port defective from new?
Just received a galaxy note BNIB and it appears to have a faulty USB socket on the phone as will only charge intermitently and getting worse after 2 days - now won't charge at all. On its way back to supplier for refund. Question - is this a common problem with these devices?
It was an issue with the Note 1,and I was told by sammy cs that the supplier of the usb socket was changed. But this is the nature of micro usb, they just wear out.

Hello
5 month Note 2 user that had almost no complaints till early april where my phone started lagging, restarting every few hours(it did restart once every 2-3 days since they day i bought it) and touch screen not being responsive. Result was the problem becoming worse and me having to search for it and finding out about SDS. I checked my phone through EMMC and it says my chip is insane... as soon as I saw that I tried backing everything up but as it turned out, it was too late..I've lost all my game data (I've managed to copy a few games but its a few stages back..for example my subway surfers save is like 2-3 months back...), i've lost ALL of my contacts and my smscontact backup says it has no contacts on the backupfile...
regardless, I sent it to the local Samsung retail and they kept it for a week, got it back today, same thing happening...They told me they found humidity + errors on my phone and they had to clear/wipe it out completely. Its been like 3-4 hours since i got it and it already got stuck at a black home screen error + unable to swap applications and once on a non-responsive touch screen. I contacted the Samsung retailer and he told me that it could be an error from my SD card. I highly doubt that, am using a san disk 32gb ultra speed and I only have movies on it actually so...
Now my 'questions'...What can I do? Rooting it can fix it? Or will it void my warranty completely? If I root and it breaks again can I unroot and send it to have it fixed? And if they cant fix it, do they replace my phone with another one? Like a new note 2 or a new samsung phone?
Thanks
Ps: already posted this on sprint forums by mistake and it was suggested to me to try removing my sd card..no difference

well it is what people say "symptoms of the sudden death" so probably and all says that( 5 months, strange behaviour. .) if they dont fix you can talk to them that probably it is SDS if not you'll have to wait until the phone dies or send lots of times (like a guy who said that here in xda) and they probably replace the motherboard. theres nothing at the moment to do if it have been affected by the corrupted data but you can update to the latest firmware which is suposed to have the fix
hope I answered your question

well the problem is that if the phone send some corrupted data to the chip when you were at 4.1.1 there's nothing to do.
The repair centre "doesn't know about it" because if they do know they'll have to asume that problem and they will lose money. The correct procediment is to change de motherboard however sometimes they just put an old one with the insane chip again. If you really want this phone and I assume that you do like it, when they replace and send it back update to 4.1.2 ASAP therefore they usually update before sending back.

You should have a new imei if they changed mb i think.
I bought note because of the screen, dont mind using it with both hands thats the price you have to pay if you want that commodity of big display.
And its charging like every phone, maybe a little longer but instead you have great battery life.

Nobody loses money but Samsung. Your local samsung service center is not Samsung company. They are third companies that have an agreement with Samsung to fix samsung phones officially in your country.
They lose money only if they replace a motherboard that is already working or not covered under warranty (user faults).
Once I talked(personally) to one of Samsung services in my country, they said mostly they are not able to understand these new generation smartphones. Most of the time all they do is just replacing motherboards, they said
My suggestion to you, print several sudden death syndrome reported web pages and show them or email them if you can. Samsung is replacing bricked motherboards with no question asked (even rooted ones).

take it to the carrier's service center. if it has not been rooted at all, there should be no problem. they can see if it's the battery or the device. either way, it'll get taken care of.
I forgot to mention this but she won the phone on a Samsung event so I'm guessing there's no warranty on it. She was using the phone on tmobile btw since it was unlocked but had the att logo on it.

+1 Try checking with Samsung. Look up on Samsung site. Based on IMEI, they should be able to make out its manufacture date, if not sale date. Plus, its been less than an year since device release date. So you should be covered here.

A short battery or a damaged battery could block the charging and not get the light on. But since using a different battery too didn't help, it might not be the case. Look at battery connectors. Try using air blow on it and check if there any particle shorting them. Try using an alcohol swab and wiping connectors.

I had a feeling that it was the battery until she told me that she already tried changing it. Hopefully Samsung would still take it even without proof of purchase. Otherwise I would have to take our apart myself.
