well i tried to use n7105 pit file on my i317 but unfortunately it failed the process and since then my mobile troubles me a lot to charge and my mobile is not recognized by my pc whatsoever.. but the thing is if i connect my mobile in downloading mode with odin, it works perfectly.. even when it gets charging from pc, pc does not recognize it even though i have installed kies and samsung drivers.. is there anyway to find the solution please?
Sounds like you need a new charging port
Usually caused by plugging in a slightly wet usb cord.
Or the female end (your phone) is dirty andbor corroded.
Theyre not expensive to fix.

I would have agreed with you completely if my phone was making same troubles connecting with odin in downloading mode..
It connects in downloading with odin with no problems whatsoever that is what making me think that hardware part should be alright on the other hand it rarely connects in mtp mode with pc for barely 15 seconds and suddenly goes to dock mode.. sometimes nothing pops up.. do you still think it has to be something with charging port only? If it is so I am ready to pay for it...
Thanks for reply btw..
Its my best guess. Without seeing the phone I can only speculate. I replaced mine for around $65. Depending on where you live theres likely a few cell repair shops around

Yes man! You are absolutely right... I went to samsung service centre and that guy said its problems with charging socket so i simply told him to replace it for just 1250 INR which is just over 20 us dollars... Well but he is unsure as i317 is not available in india so his unsurity is new charging socket of n7100 may work or not.. Let me hope it will do the trick and i will get my phone working as good as brand new...

I don't understand, if you bought the phone new then the charging port should be covered under warranty. Just take it back to where you bought it or send it in to sammy for exchange.

Galaxy note 2 - usb charging port defective from new?
Just received a galaxy note BNIB and it appears to have a faulty USB socket on the phone as will only charge intermitently and getting worse after 2 days - now won't charge at all. On its way back to supplier for refund. Question - is this a common problem with these devices?
It was an issue with the Note 1,and I was told by sammy cs that the supplier of the usb socket was changed. But this is the nature of micro usb, they just wear out.

Hi,
I hard bricked my phone and cannot get into download mode.
However, I do believe my battery is dead.
Would I be able to get into download mode without a charged battery?
Many thanks in advance.
*edit: yes, it was a stupid noob mistake
*edit 2: battery charged but still no download mode
*edit 3: purchased a jig from Amazon (arrives in 2 days)
You'll need to get a néw one if its hard bricked because you'll need to put in a USB jig. Or get your repaired at jtag

If you can find a display model set up in a store with that battery you can swap them out and charge yours, then replace it after charging.
Ive done this at local retailers with nonremovable batteries, but i always clear it with store staff.
The people at best buy just laugh and roll their eyes when i walk in with a torx wrench.

I was able to charge the battery in another phone, and it doesn't seem to help.
I ordered a jig from Amazon that should arrive in 2 days for a last attempt at download mode.
This should teach me not to accidentally flash ROMs for the international version of the Galaxy S II

The standard USB JIG which has been around for years now is perfectly compatible with all the variants of the Galaxy S4.
I have a jig myself and it's working just perfectly with all the android phones I have now and all the others I had in the past.
Go to eBay and you can buy one there for under $5.00 bucks which includes shipping.
Good luck!

Got mine the other day, tested it out just to make sure it worked. Takes me right into download mode, so I now have an extra safety net incase I soft brick my phone.
Read up on jtag boxes as well. Might get one of those in case of worst case scenario. Anyone know if a good cheap one that doesn't require soldering? Haven't soldered in years.

No idea xD If you are getting it from AT&T Chances are it's the SGH-I317. Which is our model. ROMs for our device and Tmo, and even teh N7105 will work on our phone. Something we don't have that I really wanna see? A MIUI Rom that has everything working. D:

The Note 2 original is the n7100 which is an international phone, our phone falls under the n7105 variants (which are all LTE-enabled devices which include N7105T, SGH-I317, SGH-T889, SGH-I317M, etc.) There is a porting guide to use a n7100 rom on our phones by madmack, but the rest of the devices rom work good on our phone.
Hmm kind of confusing. I'll look at my phone tomorrow when it comes in. I need to learn all the kernels and stuff for the note. Infuse only has 1 for jellybean lol

Yeah it can seem confusing at first. If your picking up from AT&T then you'll be getting the sgh-i317, but our last update is much older than more recent ones to the international variants, thus why some developers choose to use those firmwares as a base. Just shoot me a pm if you have any questions
I'm a former Infuse user as well. Getting a Note 2 was like taking a breath of fresh air.
While all the Jelly Bean ROMs brought new life to the Infuse, at the end of the day it was still and underpowered phone, and because of Samsung's unwillingness to support it, several things remained broken on it. I was more than happy to move on from that thing.

I bought the phone on Craigslist, knowing the button was broken. The phone itself was on, and worked fine while on CM10.1 (When you lose power, if you plug in to USB it will turn on automatically). Well I wanted to go back to stock so I did via recovery, and then afterwards realized that on stock, you have to press power button to turn the phone on.
So, I ordered a replacement button circuit, which cost about $4 shipped. Came in to day, popped it on, and... still not working.
Like I said I know the phone works, and this part SHOULD work since I just ordered it... When I plug the phone in it goes to the battery charging screen (Battery should be just about full anyway) and the power button does not get it to boot.
Might want to double check that ribbon cable that you had to plug in. When you replaced it! That's the only possible problem I could see it could be. Sometimes we rush to do things not realizing, we actually made a mistake!

The ribbon cable is a snap-in type, and I double checked/un/replugged it twice...
The only thing it could be is the circuit on the board I guess, but the rest of the board is fine...

I don't suppose there is any other crazy way I can at least turn the phone on? Any way at all? That doesn't require power button? I know with CM 10.1 you just have to plug it in with battery out and it starts boot up automatically but such is not the case with stock Samsung.

I just figured... I could use a jig to kick it in to ODIN mode then just cancel ODIN mode and it would boot in to OS.
I guess if nothing else I can sell it on Craigslist as such - power button doesn't work, as-is..
Sorry. ...
Bad luck for sure. ..
But a new power button assembly should do the trick. .
They are of course different between models. ..and you may have been sold the wrong one ..
Likely a pin out connection problem. ..

Hi guys, after having a faulty Note 3 for about a month I have requested a new phone from Tmobile.
They have promised me a "Like New" device, not refurbished.
But I do not really trust them, I have a feeling like even my phone is not new.
I know that there must be a way to check if my phone is new or refurbished. I have 4.3 android installed.
All the standard codes do not work ... ##786# etc .... can anyone help? Maybe point me to some app?
P.S.
Nova launcher did not help either.
Thank you.
after a month, yes you're getting a refurbished device. new exchange is 14 days or less, everyone knows that. stop worrying if its refurbished, if it works better than your last one then all is fine... just focus on testing the replacement and make sure that it works for you. if it works fine then move on. its a refurbished replacement. its replacing your damaged device.
it'll be fine

My whole question is how to test the new device ....
Just regular check ... ? Or maybe there is some kind of an app.
And I do not think its fair that I should get a refurbished device if I received a bad one since day one.
No app can test a phone like fully. It is under warranty. Plus you won't have it long enough. Just enjoy it

I wonder if I got a refurb when I bought my note from mobile. I had an issue with the phone not wanting to boot after pulling the battery and replacing. I didn't notice this until months after. I recently left tmobile for straight talk so I couldn't take it back to them. So I decided to send into Samsung even though I tripped Knox. They fixed it (according to the service website) and its on its way back. I'll test out out to make sure, then sell it.

any phone you get from tmobile from exchangers are going to be refurbs. I got one but I'm not complaining. This refurb is better than my new one. No more Unstable wifi. And it can handle being uv so much better
Also all the S pens are hard to get out. It will get easier over time.
As for the scratch call and *****. They will replace it

Ill keep that in mind.... Want to have phone that is not refurbished.. I bought this one for $700 refurbished is half price.
WTF they steal 50% of the value for nothing?
Another point: Refurbished phones are 90 days warranty while normal ones 1 year...
