[Q] Which ROM are you using for your DHD? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If I am not mistaken according to the FAQ it's not against the rules to make such a thread, otherwise...
I downgraded, rooted etc my DHD the other day (1st time doing it) and been using for the past days CM-M11 4.4.4 with twrp 2.7.1.0 as the recovery.
The UI looks perfect but it's slow at times, when I open the screen, try to open apps (mail, gallery, camera anything really) it might take up to 3-5secs to do it. Even clicking on hd widgets weather widget takes always 3+ sec.
Maybe 4.4.4 is too much resources wise for the DHD?
So I am interested to see what the majority of the owners use and try the most "popular" ones, as there are way too many roms and not enough time to keep flashing & trying out
I am too used to 2.3.5 so I don't necessarily need to be on the latest version, would rather have my phone be "snappy".

i got fed up of waiting for htc to provide an os update so i rooted and the first rom i tried was asopx ][ICS 4.0.4] aospX 1.0.0-MR1 | IMM76L . i used this for a long time , very stable and works fine.
Now i decided to test out the more recent roms , so using [4.4.2][XPERIA UI]Xperia KitKat ROM for DHD[SMOOTH][Beta#2][OTA2.0.2] . So far its great no issues .
I think dhd is a pretty awesome phone that did not deserve to get abandoned at 2.3 by htc ::crying:

what rom to use

Hope someone can point me in the right direction here, I have a rooted Telus HTC Desire HD. I have tried several ROM's and so far none quite fit the bill. I am looking for a ROM that is basically a rooted version of the stock rom. I only rooted my phone so I could use a clockwork recovery and be able to backup my device. Also Sense is needed as I use google calendar along with pure calendar to display my appointments, contact birthdays and facebook contact birthdays. Facebook for sense seems to be the only way to easily do this. I have RCmixHD which is supposed to be a port of Telus stock rom & I like it except that it does not have Canadian or US English options. If anyone has some ideas on where to look next I sure would like to know.
Hi jmc7895
Since you like sense.. you can try Android Revolution HD and LeeDrOid. Well you can try the Gingerbread version of them, you also have the option to try out the Froyo version.
Cheers. =)
I have to say I am no Android freak, I just started to use Custom Roms for 3 weeks.
But I could honestly recommend Android Revolution HD 5.1.x to everybody.
stable, fast, almost a rooted stock Rom, no trash inside, no problems until you do not install any "Sense 3.0 Addons"
only follow the guides and you will be happy with that rom.
I am currently using Revolution HD.
First custom rom i've tried, I love it. Looks exactly like stock Gingerbread, only waaay faster and with better battery life. Plus there's 24/7 support on the rom's thread
Just follow the tutorials, you'll be fine !
The only downside I could think of is that the rom is not directly available in ROM Manager. Not a big problem anyway =)

Guide to GB ROMS?

Hello all,
I like many others, I have installed the new GB ROM from the RUU supplied by HTC and it is "OK". However, i would like something else.
I have seen many guide to install ROMS and it seems more or less clear.
My problem, and maybe the problem for other noobs if the fact that there are so many ROMs out there. It is difficult to know which one to take.
For example, I am looking for plain old stock android 2.3 for the desire. No sense, no extra HTC apps. Just what google would have on the nexus 1. But, I cant figure out which ROM fits that.
Any ideas?
What would be great is sticky which lists the ROMs and their main features for all us noobs. Unless there is one already and I didnt see it
Get Oxygen Rom mate its nice and basic , if u want to go too basic get DevNull
But for starters i think u shud go with oxygen
Pm me if u want to discuss any other details

Well, if you installed official Gingerbread 3.14.405.1 RUU, you can't get root (yet). No root means that you can't install custom rom.

Isn't there one already?

watch the video tutorial too - but it sounds like you want an AOSP rom
Yup, you definitely wanna try Oxygen + it was recently updated to Android 2.3.5.
It's sense free, all bloatware removed, very fast & minimalistic.
http://forum.oxygen.im/viewtopic.php?id=149 (it wasn't updated on XDA yet, but you can download it from there)
CyanogenMod7 will also fit you.
Should have read into what you were doing before you updated. You can't root now, which means no custom ROMs for you. HTC updated HBOOT so no more rooting for the time being. You're stuck with it till someone cracks it. Unlucky dude.
My recommendation:
Sense (2.1+3.0) : InsertCoin 1.0.9
AOSP: Oxygen
no MIUI from me...sorry..
Thanks for all the replies. I am pretty sure it is only a matter of days or weeks at most until I can root. I recall the same situation last update.
It sounds like oxygen is the way to go. Once the root is available I will give it a shot. Thanks.

newbie here to all this..
last week I finally rooted my DHD to turn s-on to s-off and after days of reading post after post I finally got it done, anyway whilst doing this it has now downgraded my phone software to an older version. 2.3.3 sense 2.1

Best thing if you want Stock ROM is Android Revolution HD, BEST stock based ROM (Sense 3.0, 2.3.5 Gingerbread)
Although you might like to experiment with other Android versions, like AOSP (exactly as Google intended it), AOKP (slightly modified), CyanogenMod (Different thing altogether) or even MIUI (if you like the iPhone's simplicity)

[Q] Is it possible to flash a stock HTC Sense Rom onto tmobile G2? or best Sense ROM?

Situation:I've read through most of the HTC Sense roms on our forums and most of them show at least a few problems with missing/broken features. Currently on Virtuous Sense 2.1 which I love since the only thing that bothers me is: the "www./.com" is now a tab, one widget resets the htc sense UI(removed it though), and a small amount of lag. Currently I'm intent on having the latest HTC Sense Rom on my G2.
Question: Is it possible to just flash the stock HTC Sense roms onto the G2 and have it update on its own after I flash and unroot itself?
Question: If not, anyone have an HTC Sense rom available that is stable, full features working, little to no lag, and the procedure is forgiving(as in my G2 won't brick easily if I incorrectly executed a step)?
Notes: I used this procedure for rooting from XDA wiki: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik...sion#Rooting_the_Vision_.28G2.2FDZ.29_and_DHD). I really liked it because I failed a couple of times and pulled the battery and it still didn't brick however after I flashed, I wiped the sd card(kept backup files though) and replaced it with a higher capacity sd card.
For sense roms on a G2, you need to have the Desire Z hboot. Which from your description, you must already be having. You can go ahead and flash any rom of your choice.

Then after I should unroot and let htc sense update itself?
More than likely you will be better off not going stock if you want to keep root access and leave security flags off. If you do go back to stock you will not be able to run anything more advanced then what you have now, stock is still gingerbread and will never be updated past that unless you use a custom rom. There are many sense roms that are pretty good for the vision, almost all are better than stock in some way, I would suggest trying a few out to find what works best for you

That's just it, I'm tired of going through and flashing roms that are missing features/bugged/slow. Some I like, for instance Gen.Y R3, trickdroid, revolution(all snappy and quick) but they just miss that one feature I need most(eg auto rotate screen or htc locations is broken). Unless someone recommends one that fits the G2 on dzhboot perfectly I'm willing to flash one last time.
Honestly Virtuous Sense 2.1 was probably the best custom rom experience I've had because it had the least problems for my specific needs. It also happened to be the first rom I ever flashed to break my android rooting cherry =P.
Personally, I'm not into a lot of customizing right now, I just want a rom that I am satisfied with and forget about. I'm going back to Virtuous Sense in the meantime while I look for stock HTC sense roms that will update itself so I never have to worry about it again. (anyone know where to find a stock htc sense rom that is going to work on a G2?)
Like I said it won't update it self, htc will never update date this phone again the rom you are using (in my opinion) is better than stock, there are lots of others to try out if you would like, if you want stock that's fine but it will never update past android 2.3.x if you want more features, more stable, better battery life etc... go with a custom rom based off of stock

Thanks, I guess I skimmed over you mentioning the inability to update, alright time to get back on the flashing rom binge, watch me brick
Its real hard to brick your phone just flashing roms, be sure to do a full wipe!
If you need extra help rizzoizzo made a nice tutorial on how to flash roms for beginners, check in the first few pages of general section and be sure to thank him if it helps ya

[HELP!] Camera Problems with MildWild Jelly-Gingerbread

So recently I decided to get back to some of my older android devices, and why not try out the good o'l HTC Desire.
Now at one point I thought that installing a custom ROM was a good idea to get some of the newer apps or what not... and managed to screw up the camera somehow. Now the problem is, this was done around 3/4 years ago and the phone was left as it was.
Another issue it had with this ROM is the insane battery leakage. It lasts MAX 1 hour... Starts to heat up after a couple of minutes of usage.
I've tried several different things, including:
1. Camera Restarter application that many people recommend.
2. Wipe Dalvik/Cache, Factory Reset, Wipe Data... etc
3. Force closing the app, getting rid of the data/cache within the OS application settings...
The ROM I'm using is the old MildWild GingerBread v.2.3.7 JellyBean based version of the ROM.
Kernel version: [email protected]#1
Mod version: MildWild Jelly-Gingerbread
Build date: November 2013
Recovery: CVM Revolutionary 4.0.1.4
Phone model, obviously the HTC Desire Bravo, the original.
I'd love to try and fix this rom's issue... but what I'd like more than anything is, if someone could post a mirror to this custom ROM too:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2204681
I'd like to give that a try too, as it has the HTC Sense feel to it. Miss the good ol' rainbow blur live wallpaper, square weather widget... (the closest to the original)
And if not that, someone that knows how to revert this thing back to the original stock ROM.
Already tried doing that, but couldn't flash any of the RRU zip files provided on the Android Development section.
The phone should be from the European Region, as it was bought from there. Specifically don't know the operator... so WWE.
If none other options are avalible... may someone recommend me a very good ROM that atleast looks like the old HTC Sense and has a fully working Camera, without any Battery leakage issues.
Thanks in advance.
