Too much user around the world of the device but developer? - Sony Xperia T2 Ultra

Hello guys,
I can say as per Sony's continues firmware updates that
Presently there are many users of the t2 ultra device but there are very less development contributers. We know XDA has top position but here total developer and contributer are not more than 10. I am feeling sad about this statistics, development is really slow.
Hope you will consider to contribute 2-3 hours per week for the device.
Sincerely.,
Rajesh

because of this reason i am selling this device and moving to some other

Patience Guys
Developers are working on T2 Ultra..
we gotta wait for a month or 2 for ROMs, once cyanogenmod is released, we can have numerous cyanogen-based ROMs for our device

Looking forward to ion development

Hey Guys, I just wana make a brief comment on some of the issues I'm reading here. Some of which have already been addressed so please excuse any redundancy.
Im sure some of these things will very soon be resolved w sony updates but rest assure soon as a root system is achieved the power to change them will be in the hands of the user. I've been developing on the X10 ever since its release and have watched it become one of the coolest development devices available half of which before Sony was really on-board w independent development.
Most of these things (except for the speaker issues, which just come w the "thin phone" territory I'm afraid) can be related most likely to excessive syncing, etc from att/sony bloat. There are some things that may be able to be done now to help but prob we'll have to wait for root to see any major improvement.
As far as the device goes, if u can deal w the speaker it will most certainly be a hellova phone in the very near future. I just ordered one and will provide a complete review as well as any tips or suggestions I might have just as soon as I can get my hands on it. Prob first of next week sometime is w I expect the shipment.
In the interim Id b happy to help assist anyone w any possible solutions I can provide. earbrain

I was in the X10 community and they did amazing things with what that phone had so I have hope with this one as well

I got my Ion on Sunday and couldn't be happier with it. I've had the X10 since it was released. What an improvement. Big thanks goes out to all of the x10 developers that kept me interested in the phone for the past almost two years!
The Ion is incredibly snappy. I don't mind the lack of ICS at the moment but I really miss the notification dropdown toggle widgets for wifi, data, gps, etc. Once some development occurs, namely root, this phone will be amazing. My only concern is the fragmentation of the Xperia brand. The x10 was available worldwide and had many developers working on it. At the moment, I believe the Ion is only available in Taiwan and the US. It will probably take more time before substantial development occurs for this phone. I just can't wait to remove all of the AT&T garbage off of this thing. Even so, it's a huge improvement over the x10. Just my two cents....
I wouldn't worry about dev (or lack there of) on this phone, it's a given.

So, Galaxy Wonder is dead?

First of all, I want to apologize to all the dedicated devs who invested their time keeping our amazing device alive for all these months. As many of you guys know, our beloved smartphone is on the verge of its 2 years b-day. Since Sir Arco decided to move on, I wanted to start this thread to prospect the community opinions regarding a question: When should we do the same?
I also noticed that, besides Sir Arco, some of our most distinguished are starting to begin parallel projects for other devices and/or other things, and are no longer keeping up. Please, it's not about ETAs, far from that. I'm an app dev too. It just seems that their attention are elsewhere. Altough it's comprehensible (2 years is a long run for any piece of hardware, afterall), I just can't help but wonder (unintentional, xD) if we finally reached our limit.
Please, guys. These are just thoughts. I'm not trying to start a flame here. But, are we now really a legacy device?
Peace.
No and yes. We've shown we can live without arco68 by porting lots and lots of ROMs (Android 4.3 based ROMs, for example) and kernels, but we're coming to an end, mainly because the dated hardware can't keep up with new developments.
For the next few months, I'll keep using my W on CM10.2 as a daily driver, but when I have enough money I'll definitely switch to a more modern device, preferably the next Nexus phone
Its not dead... yet. But we can all see the future...
However, if we try, we can delay the inevitable. It will help others, and make our device still "somewhat" up to date.
App developer? Try to make an app that will help the Galaxy W. I have moved to a Motorola Atrix 4G, so I noticed this.
Try something like that? The point is, instead of being remorseful about the upcoming inevitable, try to pitch in.
I (don't bother to do anything in the Motorola Atrix section as I have no idea of half of what they are doing) pitch in here and there in this section, but I'm not as helpful as arsradu or LeroViten.
In conclusion, the Galaxy W is a phone that will remain in my heart, thus I am trying my best not to let it die.
You should do the same.

Development

I have noticed that at least 2 developers have stopped or postponed development on the ZL.I see that the rooting, and installation of a recovery is much more challenging than for example the S4 or HTC One. I do not see many roms out for the ZL os opposed to the S4 and HTC One. My concerns are that this is not a phone that is going to receive the same attention from Developers as others. I just got the ZL a few days ago and really like the phone itself, but am concerned with the lack of or less development. Does anyone know the reason why?
It took the ZL a while to have any significant amount of development. Bear in mind that the Z1 is very recent and will be several weeks before it is available everywhere. Had to buy mine from Clove because it is going to be at least another month until the US starts to see them.
Since I started developing Android apps at work (been a C# dev for 10 years but novice to Android and Java) I got my own builds of Cyanogen working last week (for the ZL).
Sony does a great job in providing resources for developers. However, it is way less time consuming to develop apps than deal with ROMs... That may explain why you don't see more people doing it ... Some don't want or can invest the time.
Personally, I am happy with the Sony ROMs and would not benefit much for custom. In fact my tablet Z has been stock since day 1. If I was using a bloated Samsung or HTC... Well...

none of the popular custom ROMs?

I said popular in the title but actually, there is no ongoing development or custom ROMs at all..
Why is that? Is Z5 Premium abandoned with X series incoming? Even lineage OS, which was the continuum of Cyanogenmod, the biggest device supporting custom ROM group does not list any Xperia Z derivative on their list. There are no unofficial ports either. Simply, nothing...
I have witnessed communities and developers letting phones die quickly, but that seems like a new record.
Maybe being a not very common phone and as the official rom works good, just a few have time and willingness to créate custom roms

Alot of free time required for creating a ROM, as well as the unthankful forceful questions that people have after its not perfect.
I imagine that discourages most.

I hope you are not implying me as unthankful. Because I truly am thankful to every single person here for every single thing they do about the community, for years. I have used more than 10 Android phones so far and all of them had a taste of XDA goodies (except for my locked G4).
Now I just wish the same thing for Xperia Z5 Premium, hopefully with brand new Lineage OS..
No directional implications just a generality.

[Discussion] Hello Devs - Request for Custom Rom

I've never seen such a big community and a lot of custom ROMs like this. OK, it is a good, cheap phone. But a lot of people cannot buy it and have to choose another cheaper one.
So @ all Devs here: Don't forget us!!!
Have a look at Mi Max 3 for example, or others. There is not only one custom ROM since half a year! It is frustrating...frustrating not have the money for God-Phone PocoF1 and have to use only MIUI! Please look and help us...
Donate some phones on developers and they might start working on it on free time. They can't just buy and work on a phone without a good number of user base to start with. Oh yes, emphasis on term 'free time' because they do it as free extra work without forcing you to pay and most of them work on multiple devices.
Poco F1 had a good start because it was marketed as custom development friendly and sponsored by Poco Gobal itself. They started giving out phones to known developers voted by users.
If in the first place you were prioritizing custom development as criteria for new phone, then you should had waited for Poco to get cheaper or just saved more money. Mi Max series were never that attractive to developers to start with.

Thats not truth...there a lot of MiMax3 users and Devs...donate without ROM? No way...! Why 150.000 ROMs for only ONE phone here?!?!?!?!

That's because the devs here are willing to spend their free time on development. And if you want custom development for your device, request it to the respective XDA channel. This channel is for Poco F1.
To be honest I see the major point for such big community is the 3 day bootloader unlock. Obviusly apart from the giveaway Poco themeselves promoted and even the community has bought throught donations phones for some great developers who started their work blind building... It's a community builded thanks to the company efforts in making it possible (it's not like they do it perfectly but the results are here to be seen.)
Even if your community bought today a mi max 3 for some great developers there would be at least 3 months away from trying the roms in their own devices...
I don't know man... if you look up for mi max 3 on internet prices are around 220€ and today i have seen offers for pocohone at 250€. While I'm sorry for you I strongly recommend to look up to the community a phone gets before buying it.
Have a good day sir.

agreed i buy phones that i know will have good development, not buy and then moan about it on the internet afterwards when there are no custom roms available.
lesson learnt the hard way
Don't demand, contribute. You should start developing for your device so that other devs can join in. If you don't know how to do so, then learn. If you want an active dev community, check the forums before buying a phone.
Remember, we get custom kernels and ROMs because the devs want to share the product of their hobby. They can keep it all for themselves and it's still totally fine. Please have some respect.

No, sorry , I won't. I can do what I prefer to do, what I think it is right, not you! There are a lot of things I don't like on Pocophone (missing L1, ugly notch, plastic all over, smaller display and accu) I never buy a Xiaomi phone in future, thats it!

Well thats your money and what you do with it it's your decision but how can we expect someone to spend their free time without some sort of motivation to do so ? in Poco case the company contacted all popular devs and send then free phones to kick start it .
One should always search for "Popular devices of particular year". Many tech websites including xda and gsmarena(dot)com display most popular devices on their websites. Also while making a buying decision always check how many devices sold or reviewed on shopping websites. This way you eliminate lesser popular phones and arrive at conclusion.:good:
All the best.:fingers-crossed:
lesson learned after buying a phone without active community makes your phone lonely and it was a long time ago. and now before buying new phone i always check if community is active on that kind model then i buy.. too bad this is your first time experiencing that.
Why don't you learn how to cook and port roms, and do so for your phone?
There are a lot of devs who said they will cook for my phone but nothing happend...THIS is frustrating a lot of people here...

My gf has a RN6 Pro, which I thought would have a big community and a lot of devs will work on it, custom roms, etc just like it's successor, RN5 Pro. But it's not. Should I say that it's not fair? Come on, nobody ever asked you to buy that phone or to use custom rom. Maybe next time you'd better wait before buying a phone.
dev is human, they have life, most of them do it for free,,

Please STOP creating a redundant thread and more so post in the wrong section. If you want custom roms for your device please post in your device section. I suggest you read the forum rules before you post and always request for something you desire in the correct device specific section.
Please be respectful to the community when you post and never post in a demanding way. I have cleaned up the thread, Edited the Tittle and moved it to the Mi Max 3 Section, Please continue the discussion here on a positive note and request for developer assistance.
Help us keep the forum clean and do not clutter the other device sections with irrelevant threads. If you still want to know why Poco F1 is a desired choice you can check the existing discussions and contribute towards a healthy discussion and outlook.
I also recommend you do some research before making your purchase decision for your next device. Some Developer Friendly Devices that i can suggest are OnePlus & Pixel Devices. Just in case you dont like them or find them expensive, you can wait for the Poco F2 to be announced later this year.
Thank you for your consideration,

It's not anybody's fault that there are no more dev working on other phone. You're just whiny that the reality doesn't work the way you want. Don't blame others. Just sell your phone and buy a new one.

You are one of a few people, who don"t understand the message...never mind...
poco screen not big enough. and cpu overkill for alot of things.
also max users prefer to have a phone no need to charge up to 2 days with mid/heavy usage.
a phone without battery is useless. max series just too good for travelling and gaming.
then again...EU has saved Max3 with their rom all we need just an undervolt kernel with more cpu governor options.
