i have a problem with my G3. when using the camera to take pictures i see that the picture will not focus. only after knocking the top of the phone on a table the focus snaps in to action. has anyone heard ir had that happen to them ?
Get it replaced if possible, you shouldn't have to tap anything for it to focus, something must be loose

Hello,
I'm using Leedroid 2.3b and the latest radio update. My cam can't focus correct. Is there an solution for it? The only thing that works is to focus manually something in the foreground to get a sharp background. It's very annoying because so casual shots are impossible.
Also my lense cover is a bit blurry but I think that's not a big problem because he focus of my friends phone is working and his cover is much more blurred.
Thanks for any help!

take a look here about cover http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1025942 i used toothpaste and its like new.
I have a problem with the auto focus, not really with the cover of the lens. When I remove the cover the focus problem still exists.

I think I had a similar problem before, the camera kept trying to focus constantly and I could not make a decent picture, the solution was either somewhere in the camera settings or it was a rom flash (a different rom), hope this helps
I've tested it multiple times. I'll get a perfectly sharp/clear focus, take the pic with absolutely no movement, and as soon as I check the pic in the gallery, it's really soft and somewhat blurry.
I hope Google fixes this because the camera seems to be very capable. Before taking the pic, I can get it to focus perfectly and look very sharp on anything, but as soon as the pic is taken, it's all messed up.
Anyone know if a 3rd party app would fix this?

Not having any issue with the pics. Switching from the camera to the gallery lowers the brightness and also the pictures take a second to process. I showed a professional photographer a picture snapped with this camera and she was impressed. I'll post it, one sec.
EDIT: Picture was double compressed from Google+ so doesn't do it justice. Bottom line is, not having issues over here.

The camera does seem....blurry...if not grainy? It seems much more like a software problem more than anything though...hope it does get fixed.
I also hope there is a software bug with the camera
It always doesn't want to focus properly, only does its job well when macro shots.

This camera absolutely sucks in comparison to the atrix I just sent for repair.
Both have 5mp.
Nexus takes pics quick but they are very grainy and low quality.
I am not impressed.
with GN camera i think you need to properly focus on subject, i took great pictures yesterday in broad daylight and night, which is the best batch of pictures i've taken so far.
Download the MIUI camera application. Image quality is a bit better and the chances of getting a clear shot are much higher. You don't get the fast shutter speed thought. Its what I use for serious photo attempts.

I cannot see it in the market.
You will have to install the apk by yourself

I don't know if anyone knows of a way, or not as the case may be, to access the laser autofocus sensor for use in developing an app.
I'm personally assuming that the sensor records distance data in order to change the focus of the camera. I want to be able to access that distance data for use in a Range Finder app. Any help in this would be greatly appreciated! And if this isn't in the right forum, do let me know

PS: I tried the autofocus laser...
and i find it really strange...
The first time i tried it without covering the laser sensor, and i got a fast and precise focus.
Then the second time i tried to cover (with a finger) the autofocus sensor and i still got a fast and precise focus...
(the test was done on a low light ambient)
Can someone explain this?

The camera falls back on software in situations where the laser can't get an accurate reading similar to how the S5 and all other phones focus normally. It's possible that our wasn't using the laser for this reason when you tested it even though its on.

Is it just me and I happen to have a faulty camera, or does the camera still sorta suck?
I mean, don't get me wrong, the pictures are sharper than ever due to the bump in megapixels, but from my experience, I can't get too close to a subject, or else the camera just won't focus. I have to pull back slightly to get a good macro shot. Not only that, but usually when you're in a dark room with a single light source, you have to tap on the light in order for the exposure to adjust to the light so you can get a clear picture. With my phone, its actually the opposite. You have to tap on a dark spot in order for the exposure to adjust to the light source. If you tap on the light source, then the exposure gets blown WAYYYYY TF (the ****) out. It's... Actually kinda weird.
Maybe I'm not camering right or something. Or maybe this is something that can be fixed in a future update and/or a different camera app. I will admit though, however, that before I got my N5X, I was using my Galaxy S6 for about a week, so I might have been slightly spoiled by that, lol.

Which camera app are you using? Exposure works as expected and not how you describe in Google Camera for me.

I've decided to see if there is some Camera touch features like the s6 has to take a selfie and if you tap or touch the rear camera edge or the flash it snaps the front camera .
The weird part is its intermittent!
I can't quite find out where in touching cause it takes awhile whether it's a tap or touch to get a snap...
At any rate its a Find but a odd one!
Anyone confirm the same
