I've decided to see if there is some Camera touch features like the s6 has to take a selfie and if you tap or touch the rear camera edge or the flash it snaps the front camera .
The weird part is its intermittent!
I can't quite find out where in touching cause it takes awhile whether it's a tap or touch to get a snap...
At any rate its a Find but a odd one!
Anyone confirm the same

So, after I rooted, down graded, upgraded, and rooted again, I noticed my camera makes a click sound when ever I open up the camera app, pic or vid, or even cthruphone live wallpaper... can any one confirm that this has been happening before I rooted?

Not only you. I think its normal, some kind of shutter built into the camera module, I guess.... It clicks when I open the camera app, and when I exit it, or kill tasks if the camera was active. I'd say not a concern, as it has been that way with my phone before and after rooting. The only problem I've had is dust accumulating UNDER the camera glass, which can be blown out with aerosol duster through the four tiny slots around the camera, once the back phone cover (battery cover) is removed.
The phone has a mechanical auto focus instead of digital if you take a picture and look at the lens it will move slightly to focus.
Actually, I sent back my incredible because my speaker was blown (the made me do a battery pull thinking that would help!?) Got my new inc, and the camera does NOT make a sound when opening the camera or other apps that use the camera.

Sounds like your camera is broken! LOL
j/k
Just found my GN front facing camera is not centered, does anybody have this issue? i compared to SGS2 and notice that even with the phone right in front of me, the displays shows me to the side... damn it...
Well the camera is off to the right of the phone. Is that what you are referring to? I highly doubt anything else would cause it to be putting you out of frame.

Well there's your problem, the camera on the GNexus is almost at the right edge of the phone.
i have a problem with my G3. when using the camera to take pictures i see that the picture will not focus. only after knocking the top of the phone on a table the focus snaps in to action. has anyone heard ir had that happen to them ?
Get it replaced if possible, you shouldn't have to tap anything for it to focus, something must be loose

My RN5Pro is running on stock miui version 9.5 the front cam is nice in low lights but the dissappointung part is that the front cams focus is fixed so that the pictures took in front cam has a little blurry nature the details are missing and face looks like painted .. is there any way to make manual or autofocus work on the front cam .. i have tried so many camera apps but while switching to front cam the focus looks locked .. if rooting and enabling camera2api helps it .. im noob here so someone who knows plzz reply.......
....
As you wrote it, its FIXED.
The RN5 has a strange, short focus distance. The distance is about an arm away: if you take a selfie, make sure you hold the phone as far as you can in your hand. But if you use a selfie stick, its too far, and faces will be blurry.
Earlier phones had a front cam, that was fixed to near infinite, so almost everything looked "sharp".
This new objective system provides a natural bokeh effect on the front cam, and if you're in focus, its very sharp. But the focus range is really short, so you're easily fall in or out of the focus point.
I also heard this problem from a Samsung A5 2017 user.
tl;dr: There's no mechanical focus on the front can, you cant change the focuspoint.

Definitely sounds like an issue with the autofocus. To confirm, is this on stock firmware with the OnePlus camera app or gcam mod?
As the OnePlus 9 phones use a laser autofocus, I'd check that nothing is obstructing the focus lens first (to the right of the top camera sensor). If you have a camera glass protector, there ones I've used put a hole there to avoid distortion but with the downside dust builds up and I need a qtip to clean it.
If this is right, the reason it works at first is it goes to its default focus level on boot and tapping to focus then directs the laser
Its a stock firmware with One Plus camera app. No lens protektora used. She uses original case what was un the box.
Assuming the laser isn't at fault, I'd say there's likely defective hardware, multiple parts it could be though. You could try the gcam mod app and see if that helps, if it were better there, then we would know its software and not hardware, but that's unlikely given the problem.
Ok. Will try
