I took a bunch of photos today. Looking them over on my computer monitor this evening I noticed something odd. All my photos are blurry on the left side but sharp in the center and on the right side. This is for the photos taken with the phone sideways (landscape). Photos that were taken with the phone vertical (portrait) show blurriness on the top of the phone but the middle and bottom look sharp. I checked the camera lens and it is clean, no dirt or smudges. Anybody else have this problem?
I just checked mine to be sure. Nope, no problem with mine. I might be a hardware defect or something. How about pictures taken using a different camera app?

I am having the same problem?
Hi Guys.
What do you guys think of the photo quality? My front camera is fine but my back camera seems to have a serious problem focusing- the front actually takes clearer pics than the back. For some reason most if not all of my pics are coming out not completely focus with whitey haze to them - even the 1080 P videos are hazy. I have checked for plastic on the back several times as well as wiped off the lens. I have had just about, and I mean literally just about every superphone in the last four years and I know what a good camera looks like, this camera does not perform like it should and I thinks its not the phone but some issue that must/can be fixed.
I have read about every review of the phone and all indications are that this phone's camera should be great and rival the EVO LTE which I also have and takes gorgeous- stunningly sharp pics. This is the same on the GS3 and that is also very highly rated. It supposed to be better than the original note which I also had and its looks the complete opposite right now. Well my EVO LTE, GS2, and original Note makes this look like a pinhhole camera. It's obviously not the camera hardware as I think it might be software related or I might even possibly have a defective unit.
I googled the issue and found an interesting forum on the GS3 which seem to explain my issue to a T. The person said it was a software issue and the camera took excellent pics when using other camera apps from the playstore. I tried that and while I see an improvement, the pics still aren't remotely up to par for a camera with this pedigree. I called the Sprint store to exchange my phone but they are all sold out and I may be lucky to get one next week. I just wanted to know if no one else experienced this since I haven't heard any complaints. Thanks in advance for the feedback as this is a real bummer.
Remove the plastic on the lense?

Is there a plastic film on the inside of the lens that wasn't taken off before assembly?

Is anyone else experiencing front facing camera distortion?
I'm too embarrassed to take selfies or even use snapchat because of the craziness it does to my head and face.
Try it and tell me if yours does it, put your forehead in the top of the frame, or your chin at the bottom. It totally warps your face. The camera makes my head small when it's in the middle yet makes my nose huge when it's up close. Stock camera app or third party app, it's still there. The distortions are actually ridiculous.
This is too unacceptable for a phone which was supposed to have an awesome front-facing camera. I'm probably going to take it back and wait for 64-bit phones if there is no solution for this. I'll take a low field of view versus such heavy distortion any day.
I have not experienced anything like that ever - for me it's actually been the best front facing camera I've had.
Beauty face was on by default by quite a bit which can make pictures look really weird sometimes, so maybe check that? I'm not sure what else could cause that.

This was a known issue in GS5, but it turned out that it wasn't an actual problem! it's a wide angle lens on the front camera that the edges distort the image a little bit. So if you use different resolution, the faces won't look distorted!! hope this helps~
Maybe ya ain't such a BEAUTY FACE after all... ?

I can't use a different resolution in apps such as Snapchat (the only time I actually take selfies). Hopefully a custom rom/app will fix this later. For certain angles the distortion is just terrible, though.

I have a beautiful face, the Note 4 is worse than an unflattering camera, it literally distorts the hell out of it.
I ran your picture thru my note 4

The face is squished on one side, and stretched on the other.

I have the same problem, had a lg g3 and I am disappointed
Yeah I have this problem too. It's distorted and also very laggy. It's a very wide camera angle too. I'm hoping there's going to be a module to fix it.
The one solution that I have is to turn a filter on the front facing camera and see if that fixes it. I know you can't use those filters on Snapchat but try it and see if it's any better.
That's odd there's multiple people reporting this. When I read the OP I assumed you had a faulty front camera. My front camera is MUCH better than any other phone I've had! I didn't think even had a wide angle lense but simply offered the option for "Wide-Selfie", which is similar to Panorama on the rear camera.
Wide angle lenses all suffer from this issue. The note has a wide angle lens, the only way to avoid this is to stay away from the edges of the screen.
Note 4 camera distortion
My note 4 is experiencing the same problems, I absolutely love this phone but I am so disappointed with the front camera distortion, especially in snap chat. If anyone can help. please let me know.
Note 4 camera distortion SOLVED!
I know this thread is quite old but I wanted to share the solution I found which is simply to change the picture size or more specifically the aspect ratio. I believe the default photo size on Note 4 is 3.7 M with 16:9 aspect ratio, if you change to 4:3 aspect ratio the distortion goes away. No more cone head

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Your solution worked for me on my LG V20!!! I've been wondering about this issue for the last couple of years actually, especially when I had the S3 and S5. I didn't realize it was actual problem with Android phones until I Googled a couple days ago and found this thread! Thanks again for saving my sanity! LOL! ???
Hello there Android Gurus.
I'm wondering if anyone has had any complications with their front facing camera. I'm not sure when it happened, but for some reason, unless I'm outside in really bright daylight, the front facing camera on my Note 4 is almost so dark you can't make out the picture. When I first got this phone, it was wonderful. I'd be snapping pics with my friends on Snap Chat, or using it for Google Hangouts, but now, it's just dark.
My rear facing camera works great, thankfully.
Anyone else have this issue and find a fix?
Post an example picture.
using the front camera vs the rear camera, I notice the front camera makes everyone look ghostly pale. the color tone is way off.
has anyone else noticed this?
also is there a way to calibrate or adjust the color tones of the front camera? (adjust it so it'll stay when using both front camera and Skype calls?)
thanks!

A lot of custom ROMS have issues with Camera. With stock nobody has issues, unless there is a hardware issue. I don't bother with front camera any way. I use a Logitech C930 1080p usb web camera, for front cam. It has a cool clip that mounts on edges of flat surfaces really well.
I had the chance to compare my camera vs someone else's s8 and my front camera is definitely pale. like lacking saturation or something..
might anyone know of a way i can adjust/ calibrate the front camera?
any leads are super welcomed, thanks.

S8??? WTF! This is for Note 8.0 tabets. For help go to the right thread on S8 forums. Diff hardware, and diff FW will have diff results.

lol I'm using a note 8, I just had a chance to compare it to someone's s8 today and side by side the colors on mine are super pale.

Nobody has ever complained about note 8.0 camera being pale in colors, for 3 years now. What ROM are you running. You can always flash back to stock, which I have done because it is stable and doesn't break things.
