So I have a rooted and partially debloated G3 and recently I realized that I can't record video. When I start recording the camera stops. I cleared camera.apk data and I also fixed permissions with RomManager but it doesn't helps. My last option is to flash a new .kdz but I better wait if anyone has a solution.
If you use viber 5.0+ try delete it couse I notice that it have affect to camera and my girlfriend have lg l7 II and viber force camera stops.

Here's the problem: Defy is rooted and MS2Ginger 2.0 is installed without any problem. Upgraded to 2.1 via CWM recovery, just the system.
Now, the focus in camera works from time to time. The strange behavior occurs randomly, with stock camera and camera 360 2.5.5 as well. It can be manifested as soon as I start the program as there is no specific clicking (mine Defy is with red lence) on the start of the camera program. Now, it works, but it doesn't mean it will work in 3 hours from now. Tried stopping app and clearing data, tried rebooting as well, tried patching with panorama fix but there's no certain metod for solving this problem. No memory management program used, no app killers.
Anybody else experiencing this strange behavior?
A friend of mine had the same problem. His camera was broken and had to be replaced. But in your case it could also be a software bug. Have you flashed the stock rom and checked the camera there?
Nope,
tried with french retail 2.2.2, the same; focus not working.
try fix permissions , just a suggestion , gotta try n see
OK, how to do that? : )
Ok, fixed permisions via Rom Manager, rebooted, same as before. Now it's not focusing at all so it would be logical to blame hardware. Will take it to repair center on Monday to see what will they tell me.

And now it works again after installing 720 panorama fix, rebooting and clearing data in camera app!?
But I already did full system installations before, with all Walter79's instructions including clearing all kind of cache files in CWM and nothing worked.
I'm waiting to see if it'll stop again. Confused.
P.S. Focus again not working after 22 hours. Above method not working. Anyone, any advice?

I got this issue lately when I try to zoom while recording video the camera app crashes and the recorded video is not saved (is corrupted and not playable). This used to work in the first week I got the phone, I remember using it at least once. I tried clearing data and cache for the app, but no joy.
Anybody else has this issue ?
For me it works just fine on Full Hd - 1080p and UHD - 2160p
This problem appears to be specific to the T-Mobile version. I asked around on Reddit to verify. I too have this same issue. Has anybody found a fix? I'm using the Google camera for right now as I don't need 4k video recording. Maybe a software reimage would help? It's possible they were shipped with a bad image on the device.
I had the same crash in my att device the first time I used it. Exactly the same . video and zoomed and I noticed it didn't refocus then it locked up.

Does it still happen? Were you able to fix it without using another camera app?

I find it hard to believe this phone was even QA'd. Such a basic, useful function was broken out of the factory for almost everyone.
Mine works fine - I will admit I didn't try zoom when I first got it, and now I have updated the media xml files with the ones in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2778570
Not sure if that is making it work or not but works perfect for me.
If I get this same issue will just return my phone...this is crazy!
What I forgot to mention is that I have switched to ART. Could this be the cause ? Anyone with ART enabled on their G3 has this problem ?
Just to answer my own question, I switched back to davlik and still have this problem
I'm having the same issue. Mine is an AT&T LG G3 D850 not rooted and using ART. I was thinking about switching back to DAVLIK but seeing as you tried that and it didn't work for you.... I even restated the phone.
Unfortunately the v10e update doesn't fix this problem we're having
Have you reported it to LG yet ?

Solved
My G3 international version D855 had this problem ... i applied a hard reset and it works ... now it's fine with zooming while recording
I hope that may help
Its a bug in the LG Camera App. I just tried it on the LG camera app = crash, downloaded Google Camera = No crash on zoom while recording.
Edit: LG D850
Just got my G3 on Verizon about a week ago, same problem. Zooming in camera works fine but not with video. It did a few days ago, just noticed today that it doesn't work.
Edit: Tried the files that nest75068 suggested, didn't work for me and ended up making the Camera app crash even when trying to start a video. Google camera worked initially with video, crashed when I tried to switch to the front camera and now crashes on start. Focal also crashes when starting a video.
I'm having this on my unlocked UK (2GB) D855 variant. I've only noticed crashes while zooming while taking 4K video however.
Yesterday got a phone call from LG support. He said he was second line support, but I had to spend 5 minutes explaining to him what ART and Dalvik are and another 5 minutes trying to convince him that sending the phone to LG won't help. Disappointed, but no different from Samsung or HTC support in that respect.
If you have this problem please report it to LG, maybe if they have few more reports they will pull their finger out of their ass and do something about it.
I've called them and they couldn't help me either. I also asked them about there wireless charging stand that they announced along side the G3 announcement and where I could buy it... the person I talked to didn't know what I was talking about... they didn't even understand what PMA and Qi wireless charging was! I asked if they could connect me to someone who knew about there products and they said I had to call back to talk to someone else.... ?WHAT!?!?
I wasn't even aware you COULD zoom while doing video, but tried this at all resolutions except the slowmo and reproduced the bug.

Sadly i have same problem and some times i get camera not available .I am using 4k and slowmo fix.I wonder if thats the case
No, it's not a problem with the mods you're using. I have the same issues with the standard firmware without any mods applied.
Hoping for an update soon to fix these issues.
Don't update to .108 but wipe the system and flash it from scratch.
Try removing sd card and see.My problems went away (delay, stuck etc) after replacing sd card (64g sandisk ultra) back to a g.skill 32g works like charm.
That is normal, since kitkat we all have problem's with camera, there is memory problem i hope sony will fix this soon...
Hadn't any problem with mine so far, also upgraded to .108 via OTA.

I have been able to fix this issue on two Z1C phones using the following steps:
Reboot into safe mode
Clear Data and Cache for all camera apps and services
Turn off "Touch anywhere to capture" in camera settings
Uninstall SnapChat
Uninstall Skype
Reboot and voila!
Various reports online suggested that Skype and Snapchat are causing the Z1C issues, combined with the Touch Anywhere to capture feature.
This should fix your problems - although Sony still have to actually fix the firmware so that you don't have to do that
Doesn't work for me but its a problem of the camera somethimes i do photos with the Google camera and somethimes after i take the foto it freeze the app for 10 second or forever

the initial press from a fresh bootup is slow to open the camera app.
Afterwards its super quick.

I have the Verizon G3 & my camera stopped working recently. Even got the o.t.a. update for something to do with the camera....didnt fix it either way. I've looked for stock firmware updates to no avail. Is your camera app opening, but you just cant do anything? Cuz mine tells me unfortunately camera is not working. 3rd party apps dont help either...ugh
Try disabling "OK Google" hotword detection. It fixed my camera error.

I just rooted my phone last night and I noticed that when I use my camera, the phone would randomly reboot after taking a picture. When it does boot back up, 8-10 percent of the battery life is drained!?! has anybody else had this problem? I do have Xposed installed but I dont have any mods for the camera selected. I have the same problem using both the LG camera app and Googles camera app.. Any help would be appreciated!

Try and delete all exposed mods. Reboot and then try. Remove the google camera to and see. Then add 1 by one till you find the mod or app giving you the issue
BAD ASS G3
cool i uninstalled googles camera app and everything seems to be working just fine now thanks!
