Hi guys, so a few weeks back, I experienced reboots and I classified them as 'random'. Thought maybe it was TouchWiz so I changed to CM11. Still had reboots. The only way to stop them was either put it on charge as it rebooted or leave it off for a while. I thought, maybe my battery percentage is just wrong.
Then after a while on CM11, the issue was gone. And it was, until today. I downloaded my games that I had before and I experienced reboots again and I thought maybe it was just this specific game (Sky Force 2014). So I tried Need For Speed. And it rebooted after a while in the game.
Every time I play these games, the device gets very hot. They are quite high graphic games and obviously require a lot of process power. Do you think that these reboots are caused because the tab overheats? Has anyone been in a similar situation?
I don't live in a hot country?
Thanks

sounds like a hardware issue. but it could be caused by glitchy software too!
a few weeks back i had an "overheat" issue but it didn't get so bad that the device started rebooting.
i noticed it pretty early on and although i'm not sure which APP caused it, it hasn't repeated since then.
i confirmed that my overheat issue was due to CPU: when i checked my cpu status in "CPU-Z" i found that two of my four cores were "locked" at 2.3GHz and never idled, even if i closed all the apps on my device! very strange.
maybe you should install CPU-Z too and see what it reports about your CPU cores. it also has a temperature monitor, but it only reports battery temperature.
I'm having exactly the same problem. Any guess on how to fix it?

Most of Samsung tablet's overheat problem is causing by cracked battery connector.
Resolder the battery connector will fix this issue. Imagine this, you're running an application which requires 20 amperes wire on a power cord which can only handle 10 amperes, it will overheat and burn. The same thing happens when current runs through cracked solder joints of battery connector.

This is an example, more solders added to secure this connector which is prone to crack in most Samsung tablets
This overheating problem I just fixed yesterday by resoldering the battery connector, this fix is applied
to all Samsung tablets as they use the same connector

Hi,
i've been using the GNEX for almost 3 months, it had been rooted and used the AOKP ROM since i have bought my phone. And just last night, while i charge my phone as usual when i got home then i went to a bath, then when i came out and pick up the phone, the back left hand corner is producing a lot of heat!! then i unplug the usb cable immediately and turn off my phone, after around 3 mins, till the phone had cooled down and i thought it was just the cable's problem, so i switch the Nexus S' usb cable instead of the GNEX original one, and it happens again in just 3mins!! so i switched the battery again which both of them are original ones, charge it with my phone on. and it just happens again!!! so i switched off my phone and charge it, and it just charge normally without generating weird heat...! strange!! so do anyone know what's going on with my phone?? should i unroot it and take it back to samsung? please, needed help!! THX!!

weird heat... that doesnt say much since the way you described it might be weird for someone and normal for someone else. whats the battery temperature? whats the cpu temperature?
You've had your phone for nearly 3 months and this is the first time it's getting hot? LOL anyway sounds like something is using the cpu...

hows this for weird heat? but its not really weird, its normal for being at 1689/1689mhz, running a bunch of benchmarks, wirelessly tethering, and being plugged in.. 100C cpu temp and 109.4 battery temp

(i did turn off heat throttling, btw, or the cpu would never get that hot)
nope, i set the cpu at 1Ghz and turned on Airplane mode.

Hello guys. I'm currently trying to fix a friends HOX that fell and now the screen doesn't always display image although we can see it always lighting up (it turns on but stays black) .
If I press hardly the HOX's area in red while turning it ON, it works fine. I'm assuming this could be some broken welding points but would like your opinion.

I'm thinking of heating the area with a heat gun, but I'm afraid I'll kill the rest of the phone... what do you think?
Also, after disassembling the phone, the vibration stopped working and I've checked every flat cable and every connector I could find...no ideas to fix this one since it was working before I cracked the phone open.
Any comments are greatly appreciated.
Tks

Possibly a chip has become partly detached from the solder ball grid array due to the shock of the fall. You will not be able to repair this by heating, even if you could reach the melting point of the solder.
The manufacturer would repair by replacing the circuit board and the existing one would be considered unserviceable.

Phil
So in resume, my friend has a HOX for spare parts... damn...
Couldn't you pack the inside of the housing at the point where you need to apply pressure? Using a piece of card or something. Hardly ideal but would make it functional again
That has been my first attempt, and it's better but still, not enough.
I'm going to disassemble it for the tenth time in a final effort...
tks for the tip though!
So, I've just realized the back metal plate comes out nicely and I think I've found the problem for the GPU issue... that small component on the red area has a broken piece lol (WTF!)
I have applied pressure directly on top of it and I think it will be usable like this, but it now needs a bit of daily use to check if I'm right or wrong.
Can anyone identify what component type is that?
Also, unfortunately (and I don't have a clue how this has happened), the vibration stopped working after opening the phone on the first time, any one has any ideas of what to look for? I don't see any flex cable cut or any other damaged parts...
Tks guys.
Problem solved, some back pressure on the broken piece and the hox is good to go.
The only thing still not working is the vibration...

Hi my tablet is crashing every time the battery is lower than 80% (it turns off immediately) end keeps crashing every time i restart it and begin using it after 2 or 3 seconds and the battery drains every restart .Is it surely a battery problem or it could be caused by anything else?

Probably you have a cracked battery connector, common problem of Samsung tablet. Re solder will fix this problem, you can verify by removing the back cover, apply directly pressure on the black battery connector and turn your tablet on; if it works, problem solved, just find someone or a repair shop to help you to re solder the battery connector.
Don't forget to fix the white battery connector too, it's also the source of problem

Unplugged and re-plugged battery helps to solve problem, then you may need to do this little fix of the white battery connector. I had one battery which didn't take charge, after this simple fix , it works normal again.

Wonder if this is a more widespread problem, I've bought a Tudia case as it wraps over the edges of the display and holds it together, preventing it from worsening and falling apart.
Yep, i have the same issue on the top right side of the phone.

Seems to be a common issue. Wish OnePlus would approach it like apple does their "gates". But that'll never happen.

This sucks. I run LineageOS with a Locked BL, my friends and family also do with the 3 & 3T.
That sucks. If spontaneous and not from damage... it's a manufacturing defect.
&
It could be a battery failure although that battery is in the lower quadrant I think.
Especially after a year old keep an eye open for signs of swelling.
Any battery swelling is a battery failure, replace immediately.

Been an easy fix... that really sucks☹
On some phones it bulges and/or pushes out the display, on others the rear cover*.
At that point it may have already damaged the display or more.
This type of battery failure is fairly common.
Replace degraded Li's once they reach 80% on their original capacity.
Degraded Li's are more likely to fail.
Failures include thermal runaways...
*I had a failure on my 10+ recently and was luckily it didn't damage the display. The battery wasn't quit 1.5 years old.
Erratic fast charging is another sign of a failed Li.

Correct. I always charge at 2A and use Accubattery for monitoring. Unless I am in a rush, then I fast charge.
And yes, it is an easy fix, when it isn't the battery. But the displays are weak on the OP3 & 3T - and as a result, its easy to fek this up.
I once had a HTC One X bulge so badly it pulled the screen up about 2cm and broke the entire phone. Since then I've always taken care of batteries.
Hello,
Apparently my Samsung Note 10+ battery temperature sensor stopped working and I need to ask you a question.
Whenever I try to charge my Note 10+ I get an error message saying that my battery temperature is too cold, it prevents me from charging the phone.
I downloaded an app that measures the temperature of the battery and it says that the temperature is at -20C.
I've already tried to leave it turned off, on, near a heat source, near the hair dryer and so on, none of that works, the cell phone is too hot, but this warning that the battery is too cold continues...
I also tried to disable fast charging/wireless charging, formatting etc, but nothing had any effect, the only thing I didn't do was unmount the phone.
Anyway, my question is, the message that prevents my phone from charging is probably from the operating system (OneUi or Android 11), my doubt is: if I install another operating system/Custom Rom, there is a possibility of " cheat" this message that prevents the cell phone from charging?
Thanks !
Replace battery. Pretty sure that's where the failed sensor is located. See if you can find a source toverify this.
If so it may indicate a battery failure as well.
Samsung has a thermistor that communicates with the power IC that is probably damaged. Replacing it will help you resolve the problem.

I tried to find the thermistor for the battery temperature with DevChek. All the reported ones didn't correspond to the reported battery temperature. My deduction was it was the battery it's self. Probably more likely for better responsiveness.
An easy fix if so... the C port pcb is also cheap and relatively easy to replace.
Regardless until it's fixed, it won't charge. It's an important safety feature.
You could try a hard reboot in the off chance it's a freak glitch.

In order to overcome the water damage problem, all you have to do is to:Clean charging dock strip and check.
If the problem persists or if the pins are damaged then you need to replace the entire charging dock strip.
Now check the voltage of the 1st pin (from right) of the charging connector with the help of a Multi-Meter, if there is a problem then re-solder the charging pin.
Now check voltage at the capacitor, if it is zero then check whether it is short or not if it then changes the capacitor. If not then:
Check the connection between the charging pin and Capacitor, if the connection is broken re-solder it or place a jumper.
The charge is provided to the Samsung Galaxy Note10+ board via Capacitor.

Use DevChek to try to ID the failed thermistor circuit. No circuit schematic makes troubleshooting more difficult...
It could be something other than a failed thermistor. Low temperature thermistors seldom fail; a failed or loose connector, solder crack or mobo trace failure are just as possible.
