Anyone else had their display loosen at the top? - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

I've noticed this on my phone, and my Nan's. Both 3's, not 3T's. Both have loose screens at the top. - I can lift it up a lot. See photos.

Wonder if this is a more widespread problem, I've bought a Tudia case as it wraps over the edges of the display and holds it together, preventing it from worsening and falling apart.

Yep, i have the same issue on the top right side of the phone.

Seems to be a common issue. Wish OnePlus would approach it like apple does their "gates". But that'll never happen.

They can't even push more than one or two updates, let alone make a phone like they did during the days of the op1.

This sucks. I run LineageOS with a Locked BL, my friends and family also do with the 3 & 3T.

That sucks. If spontaneous and not from damage... it's a manufacturing defect.
&
It could be a battery failure although that battery is in the lower quadrant I think.
Especially after a year old keep an eye open for signs of swelling.
Any battery swelling is a battery failure, replace immediately.

No battery swelling on 3 units with this issue.
End of that theory

Been an easy fix... that really sucks☹
On some phones it bulges and/or pushes out the display, on others the rear cover*.
At that point it may have already damaged the display or more.
This type of battery failure is fairly common.
Replace degraded Li's once they reach 80% on their original capacity.
Degraded Li's are more likely to fail.
Failures include thermal runaways...
*I had a failure on my 10+ recently and was luckily it didn't damage the display. The battery wasn't quit 1.5 years old.
Erratic fast charging is another sign of a failed Li.

Correct. I always charge at 2A and use Accubattery for monitoring. Unless I am in a rush, then I fast charge.
And yes, it is an easy fix, when it isn't the battery. But the displays are weak on the OP3 & 3T - and as a result, its easy to fek this up.
I once had a HTC One X bulge so badly it pulled the screen up about 2cm and broke the entire phone. Since then I've always taken care of batteries.

HTC One X - Bigger Batteries

After a long time waiting I heard a word from mugen batteries that , huge capacity battery for HTC is going to release soon. Any more info you know about this share it here.

The only way the battery could be "huge" is if Mugen develops an alternative design shell that replaces the original.
Here's their extended battery solution for the Sensation XL. It doubles the thickness of the phone. For every phone Mugen offers it for, it attaches where the original back cover goes. It would have to be a replacement shell on the One X.

There's no room in the One X chassis to expand the physical size of the battery so they could probably get no more than 25% more amperage in the same foot print if they went with just a more powerful than stock solution. The problem with any solution that requires opening the phone and using third party parts is that your warranty is voided.
If they offer a pogo connector solution that would be pretty cool. The only one available's pretty crappy so something high quality from Mugen would be popular.

Honestly, **** warranty if I can get an extra 25% out of my phone. Needless to say but I would jump at the chance if some reputable company comes out with a replacement internal battery for it, but I don't think it's very likely.

They put out a poll asking people if they'd want the option you described. That was in April and there's been no news since. So at least we know their working on something.

The latest news is they are going to release two version of battery , one is which doesnt increase the phone size but have higher capacity and another version is which will increase phone size and have more than 4000mah capacity.

The only way to increase capacity without the size would be to replace the battery internally with another one with a higher capacity. This of course means removing the back cover plus removing the motherboard to get at the battery connector to replace it. This isn't for the faint hearted and could cause damage to the phone in the process, not to mention invalidate the warranty. Seems odd they promote such a system to increase capacity?
Perhaps they mean, 'doesn't increase the phone size much' by having a much slimmer lower capacity increase using a back cover.

(SM-T325) Tab Pro 8.4: Reboot due to overheating??

Hi guys, so a few weeks back, I experienced reboots and I classified them as 'random'. Thought maybe it was TouchWiz so I changed to CM11. Still had reboots. The only way to stop them was either put it on charge as it rebooted or leave it off for a while. I thought, maybe my battery percentage is just wrong.
Then after a while on CM11, the issue was gone. And it was, until today. I downloaded my games that I had before and I experienced reboots again and I thought maybe it was just this specific game (Sky Force 2014). So I tried Need For Speed. And it rebooted after a while in the game.
Every time I play these games, the device gets very hot. They are quite high graphic games and obviously require a lot of process power. Do you think that these reboots are caused because the tab overheats? Has anyone been in a similar situation?
I don't live in a hot country?
Thanks

sounds like a hardware issue. but it could be caused by glitchy software too!
a few weeks back i had an "overheat" issue but it didn't get so bad that the device started rebooting.
i noticed it pretty early on and although i'm not sure which APP caused it, it hasn't repeated since then.
i confirmed that my overheat issue was due to CPU: when i checked my cpu status in "CPU-Z" i found that two of my four cores were "locked" at 2.3GHz and never idled, even if i closed all the apps on my device! very strange.
maybe you should install CPU-Z too and see what it reports about your CPU cores. it also has a temperature monitor, but it only reports battery temperature.
I'm having exactly the same problem. Any guess on how to fix it?

Most of Samsung tablet's overheat problem is causing by cracked battery connector.
Resolder the battery connector will fix this issue. Imagine this, you're running an application which requires 20 amperes wire on a power cord which can only handle 10 amperes, it will overheat and burn. The same thing happens when current runs through cracked solder joints of battery connector.

This is an example, more solders added to secure this connector which is prone to crack in most Samsung tablets
This overheating problem I just fixed yesterday by resoldering the battery connector, this fix is applied
to all Samsung tablets as they use the same connector

Aggressive design caused Samsung Galaxy Note 7 battery explosions

Awesome read for those seeking answers as to why Samsung took the action they did on the Note 7.

I also read that Samsung actually knew the risk but decided to "push it". They paid for it dearly if that is true.
In any case, I returned my device long ago because there is no chance I would pay that much money for a possibly compromised device with many disadvantages. For the future, I hope Samsung wises up, starts making safe phones again and explains the situation, otherwise I can't buy from them anymore.
This isn't new "news", but having a major article highlight what we have pretty much known was the issue is nice. Hopefully Samsung sheds some official light on the subject, but they are probably hoping it just fades away so they won't bring attention to it. I really hope they don't lower the Display to body ratio on they next phones - one of the nicest things about the N7 is the high display to body size ratio. They were able to get a very high display to body ratio in the S7, with a bigger battery than the N7 even, without problems, so they can do it. Yes the N7 has the S Pen which takes up space, but there has to be a way to get a 3600 size battery (or bigger) into the next Note phone without having this issue. Maybe if they go with a slightly bigger display (5.8 to 5.9) that will allow more room to work with. Same high display to body ratio but slightly bigger display and internal room to work with. Very interested to see what the S8 has in store, as that will likely give us an idea on what the N8 will be looking like.
I just can't quite understand why making the size of the phone so thin is of such overriding importance, especially considering that most people want a phone with a decent sized battery that will last for a decent amount of time. Seriously, what is the difference if they put a 4 or 5k sized battery and the phone is .5mm thicker.
This is a bull**** article written by hacks who have zero journalistic or scientific credentials, or even skills. None of it is true.
The original batteries did indeed caught on fire ( not exploded) because of a manufacturing defect by Samsung SDI, which was fixed after the first recall by switching to a different manufacturer.
To get at the truth one only needs to look at the, GASP - FACTS.
There were five "explosions" after the first recall, and ZERO after the second.
complete bs and samsung knows it.
Agreed. The people saying it was an aggressive design are idiots. Other phones use the same aggressive design and even higher mAH batteries. We wont know the truth until samsung releases their findings.

We were promised official results before the end of the year. Let's hope that holds true.
Why do people feel so threatened by the possibility that this is actually true? It is obvious it wasn't batteries alone, since they x-rayed every single battery yet the still went pop. It is still obiously a rare problem and whoever wants may still keep their phone regardless??
We want the results from SAMSUNG themselves. Honestly, considering the very small amount of failures out of the number of devices sold....

Horrible Battery Life on Moto 360(1st Gen)

Hello,
I own a moto 360(2014) and I am barely able to get more than 6 hours of battery life.
Things I have tried to do :
Factory Resetting
Paring to different phones with different android versions
Using it just as a watch without bluetooth and Wifi
Below are some screenshots :

Guys Please help me..
Did this just start for you?
I've owned my watch for years, and last week suddenly started having issues. I can't help but wonder if there was a software change that is causing excessive drain.

Not really no.
I've not got any software update over a year I think.
The watch was off for a while, about a month.
But since then it's got really bad.
I've faced similar issues with android phones, where wiping the battery stats makes the battery life as good as stock. If there is a way to achieve this it would be the ideal solution.
Get your battery replaced. I did mine and now Im getting full day outof it compared to half day before.

Did you go to the service centre?
or purchased the battery online and fitted it from outside?
if you did purchase online a link would be helpful
I did get this battery some time ago on ebay. Im in uk. It wasnt genuine battery but VHBW brand which for my experience is reliable.
Replaced it by myself. There is some guide on the web for doing it. Hardest thing is to get back cover without breaking it. I actually broken my one being carefull, its so fragile.
after another phone side android wear update my battery life is back to normal. Off the charger at 7 AM, and at 7 PM I still have 40% left in the tank.

yes, now on 2.7.0.177669439
I've had these issues for about a year now. No updates have made a difference for me. It's not that my battery depletes quickly though, it's that the watch powers off with plenty of battery left and doesn't come back on until charged, usually at the 50-60% mark.
It's nearly 2pm here, been off the charger since maybe 8am, still at 69% battery but I bet it'll be gone in an hour or so.
Is it possible to get a custom ROM for these in case it's a software issue?
UPDATE: couple of minutes later, at 67% it has died.....
ht tps://ww w.youtu be.com/watch?v=wl61mDJlu9E
use this guide! Its so easy to replace the battery!
I also replaced my battery but I used this guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1as_h5jnBM he explains very well and some steps explained poorly in the ifixit guide are shown here detailed. The hardest part is removing the backcover without cracking it. I failed and cracked mine but battery is perfectly fine now, for the cracked backcover there are some replacements for about 20€. However I own a 3D printer and will print me a new backcover by myself, I hope it will be fine, i will provide some pictures at the end of the week just in case someone is interested

Swollen battery

Just thought I'd share with you all pictures of my wife's Note 4 with a swollen 3rd party battery.
Before I begin, I personally never had problems with the few Anker brand products I've used. As such, when shopping around for a replacement battery for her, I opted for Anker..
Early last week, she told me her phone is falling apart. The screen is separating from the body. I reviewed a few teardown videos on YouTube and, before I had an opportunity for a closer inspection of the unit, I came to the conclusion that the separation occurred due to one of two things; 1) her overcharging caused the battery to swell, or 2) the heat from overcharging has caused the adhesive to give way.
Today, I had her remove the battery cover and, low and behold, the battery is swollen pretty severe.
I told her to not charge it unless it gets below 50% and not let it go over 50% until we get her a new battery.
Do you all think it may be possible to insert a new strip of adhesive without tearing it down?

I wouldn't risk using that battery. You should just safely dispose it off. It could explode or catch fire imho
