[Q] (Q) Battery For SGT-P5210 10.1 - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Here is the thing, I have two "Tabs", Sgt-3 5210 10.1 and a pipo max m9 10.1, I work/ do the same on both, how ever the max m9 usage time is much better, than that of the "SGT3", now I know there are ways to cut down on the usage time, but just strate out, the max m9 is way better.
What I would like to know, is there a "bigger, longer lasting battery for the "SGT3 10.1", that I could put in and if so, please tell me where I can buy it!
I have looked/google, with nothing to show, so I came here hoping that someone here would know.
Thank you,

Changing the Tab 3 10.1 battery would be the HARDEST Job ever !
You need to open the Tab entirely !
And so your Warranty will be void if you do so.
BTW, I have never seen a Tab 3 10.1 Battery on sale :cyclops:
Good luck.

My Warranty was never an issue, as to open the "tab", I always open my tab's to see what I have, the battery isn't that hard to take out. All I would like is to find one that would give me some time to work on what ever I need to, during the time I am at Dialysis, which is about, 4 hours and not need re-charging before I need it again. Unlike the "Max9", this is what happens to the "SGT3" I have, where as the Max9, I can use it all 3 days that I go, then on Friday I will charge it and i'm all set for the next week. Why I dont use the Max9 is because the SGT3 get better wifi than the max9.
Thank you for your reply;

windows mobile 6.1 shuts off

a weird thing has been happening to me and my friends unlocked phones we had t-mobile dashes running a version older copy of kavana 6.1 and our phones always just shut off ar random for no reason at all mostly when on the internet but the weird thing that got me thinking it was either microsoft or t-mobile was doing a remote kill was the fact my friend was over and they both went off at the exact same time anyone else experience this weird event? well anyways i update my rom to the newest one not really using it though have a g1 now so im just asking
You need a new battery. That is all.
I recommend getting a new batttery, when this occurs most likely it is a faulty or used up battery...
It is the battery was doing it to me as well until I gotta new one. Make sure to get a good battery. I bought a generic one on ebay and it works but its buggy. Freezes a lot. would recommend htc battery. Btw there is a thread already on this topic please use search option next time.

Yah this is a weird event I agree with you 100%...
Had the same thing happen here, my wife's battery started going on the same day as mine. I think the batterys have a very limited lifespan.

Yeah they do not tend to last long, especially if they are the stock batteries the phone came with.
Mine lasted for 7 months before I had to switch it out, not very good! Then again my dash is my one stop source of entertainment so it was used heavily.

TP2 Android biggest disapointments... ---> BATTERY METER

Very very thankyou ppls for your hard work... i really appreciate the hard work of the devs.. but can some1 tell me that when the battery metter is fixing.....i only bought this to use android on it but due to unstable battery indcator i m not able to properly get the fun of android on this device.....seriously i have no intrest to use winmo..i liked the keyboard and read that its android compatiable so i bought it .... i know some ppls will say that go buy something else ..... all i need is battery fix and i think many of the ppls here will agree with me....well i for me i m w8ing more 15 days to see if the proper battery fix appears then i will continue it else i will go for Motorola Milestone...i m not saying that these ppls are not working .. all i m saying that all we need is a battery fix with Wifi
w8ing for the ppls opinions
Thanks
honestly man, whats the point of this post? The devs know whats working and what isn't and I'm sure they're working on fixing and improving things. The fact that you can even boot up and run Android on a Windows Mobile phone shows the dedication and work they've put into this so far, its just a matter of work and time until everything is working, have faith and wait it out
dont be surprised if u start gettin some negative responses.
first off, the battery fix wrks great and is very accurate. there must b something u not doing right. i even posted my initial battery readings in the thread with this new build. actually the battery fix is almost dead accurate. i got 8+ hrs. outta of it yesterday. with overclock, with constant use. so nonoverclocked build will probaly bring even longer use.
second, wifi wrks perfectly.
third, why would u buy a device just to run a project build then if u wanted everything wrking? i understand the keyboard thing but unless u got ur device on a good ass deal, kind of silly to buy it just to run something not even fully completed yet. come on now.
Fourth, b4 u bought ur device, did u thoroughly read everything going on with this build or u just jumped in head first?
this is why so many people getting flamed cuz they dont do the research or homework. then come on here posting about why this or that isnt wrking. or what ASSUMPTIONS they have.
dont take this post the wrong way cuz this will probaly be one of the nicer posts towards u. lmfao juss way too many people jumping in and complaining when they wouldve already known the known issues with the build. which in ur case is incorrect. there has to be something u did wrong.
these are questions to ask self why batter fix and wifi not wrking for u.
Am i using the latest builds? Did i thoroughly follow instructions on installing it? Did i install the build with the battery fix in it? Did I break my battery fix by updating the zImage and modules?(which will break the battery fix). if thats not the case, then, Did i update the latest roofts and inirtd files? Did i even troubleshoot the problems b4 posting saying they dont wrk? lol
im not trying to sound like a dckhead..lmfao but im sure the developers would say the same thing basically.
they might have to implement what they doing on the other threads now. if u dont have a certain number of posts, then dont download and try out builds with doing the research first. a moderator stepped in and said that. cuz way too many people complaining about stuff thats already known or complaining about stuff that wrks but they didnt do it correctly.
food for thought, try the latest build. then DO NOT UPDATE THE ZIMAGE AND MODULES AFTERWARDS. only update the roofts and inirtd files.
if u need help getting it running right, let me know. ill be more thn happy to help or assist u, seriously. srry to sound cranky, just woke up n stressed about other things in life..lol
good luck

2nd... right now i m testing the new 2.2 froyo beta build as stock no overclocked no thing just extract to mc... and testing while calling / messing with it...very much stable rather then old builds :d.....very much stable /nice reponse / no battery warming(which i was worried of) / no force close atleast now.. / played assassin creed and many thing works preety nice.. wel right now i have'nt use wifi or data roaming /
3rd..well i got 2 options 1 was TP2 and 2nd was Motorola milestone ... well i dont like to milestone keyboard but i forgot that it was way slimmer then tp2 / also compatiable with new builds by defualt...well i was tp2 in local market then came to xda and saw the thread about android and just go for it.. as seeing the progress i thought that it will be fixed soon...now i cant tolarate windows-mo anymore just want to go to the android again asap...so i started this thread...
4th well i readed all the faqs / tips everything before buying tp2...like 50%

Would you all kindly stop being illiterate? English words are made of letters not numbers.
On topic, jamb, you could have dropped the silly threats (Imma buy another phone) and just asked the question.
Considering this phone wasn't intended to even run android..... and you bought it without clearly reading through and seeing what was working and what wasn't... yeah I can see peoples frustrations with your question.
Your best bet, as I'm sure you know, if you wanted a perfectly working andoid phone was to buy one that was designed for it OR at least play with someones touch pro 2 who has android running on it so you would know what to expect.
It's called development for a reason, its still on going and there is still a LOT of work to be done and no one knows time frames on this. It's like asking when we're going to mars (all be it that might be a very dramatic example)
Regarding the battery. As was discussed... there is a fix and if it isn't working for you then you aren't doing something right. It's accurate and thats all anyone can hope for. As far as becoming warm. Well it probably has something to do with what you are using on your phone. Internet, GPS, etc etc... all at once. overclocking it is a big culprit for the warmness of phones. The more you tax the phone the more it will become warm.
It wont 'ruin' your batter by using the phone... Just be patient and understand that these fixes could come out tomorrow or could never come! Just what it is.

Your title isn't so much directed at andoid as it is the people who spend hours and hours and hours developing a working version for our phone. So, yes it can be taken as being insulting, with that people are going to see this post and think "who is this guy?"

My battery meter seems to be working just dandy. I did a test yesterday and it was dead on. When in Android I looked at the battery meter and it was about 3/4 full. I opened spare parts and it was at 64%. I then rebooted the phone into WM (6.5, energy ROM) and opened tbattery and it was at 64%
I chared my phone to 100% yester afternoon around 5pm and after heavy use; 5 minutes twitter updates, constant facebook, automaticl gmail check, and non-stop text, I'm still sitting around 50%.
The work they are doing is awesome.

Any battery meter needs to have several complete charge/recharge cycles to be completely accurate (charge phone to 100%, drain until it powers off by itself, repeat at least 3 times). So I would think Android on the TP2 is no different.
Anyway, if the OP got the message that the TP2 is "Andriod compatible", that that was the wrong impression, or at least an overstatement. This is an ongoing project. Given, one where some great folks are putting in tons of work and doing a wonderful job (and much appreciated). But its not perfect, and not the same as a phone which natively runs Android. If that was the OPs intent, then big mistake and he should have done more research before buying.
And its always been posted that the battery meter has issues. I don't know how he could puurchase a TP2 for android and didn't even read the 1st post of the thread.

Anyone tried buying those larger batteries off ebay? I saw one that's lager but isn't larger in size where you'd need a new back case.
How much difference is 1800mAh compared to 1500mAh anyway? Another hour of life?

Should I try to get a replacement EVO?

I just got an Evo last week and I have been loving it aside from the battery issues. I just noticed that this evo only support 3 point multitouch and some users had claimed that 5 point multitouch works for them.
Should I call Best Buy or Sprint and ask for one that support 5 point multitouch?
Is that even worth it?
Please advise.
A note on multitouch:
Some of you may have used my 5point multitouch test builds with success, others with failure. Research has shown that the Evo's contain at least 2 different versions of the touch sensor, one of which does not support 5point multitouch (but it DOES support 3point). You can check which sensor you have using adb by issuing the following command: "adb shell cat /sys/android_touch/vendor" and examining the result. If your result is ATMEL_x0080_x0016, your phone can support 5point. If your result is ATMEL_x004F_x0016, your phone will only support up to 3point.

Oh yeah, DEFINITELY take it back. I don't know what I would do without those 2 extra points.

sad part is i can't tell if your being a smart ass of dead serious lol
I doubt you can return it as it doesnt effect performance unless there is such an app that supports 5 point touch. BTW this is due to the new batch of EVO's coming with the new screens, different connectors etc.

Nah, you're fine. My old Evo had 5 point, my replacement that I just got has 3. There is no real world difference, no apps besides multipoint visualizer even make use of 3, and that's just a test program. Keep your Evo, and cherish and protect it with your life.

Runs great, but having some strange battery issues. Running the latest flipz rom and kings cfs #11 and the battery drops 20% within 10 minutes with hardly any use.
I performed a full reboot and didn't launch any apps and it did the same thing. I just Flashed netarchy-toastmod-4.1.9.1-cfs-havs-universal-signed so hopefully I get different results.
20% in the first 10 minutes is a little unusual, most people's Evo's tend to drop 10%. It has something to do with the way the phone charges the battery, once it gets up to 100% it stops charging altogether (no trickle) and doesn't start charging again till the battery drops down till about 90% (I believe). If you unplug your phone at 100%, turn it off and plug it back in until the light turns green and then turn it back on, you should get a full charge out of it. Also, your phone is new, so I'm sure it hasn't profiled the battery fully yet, which is probably where that extra 10% is coming from. Give it a few days and I'm sure you'll see it level out.

If you are running a stock kernel then you will only have 2 points. You need to flash a custom kernel in order to have 3 or 5. Honestly though, there is no use for any more than 2 touchpoints.

I dunno, I'm not on cm6 so I don't know what that kernel supports. Seriously though, have you come into any situation that required you to have more than 2? Didn't think so.

[Q] Question about the battery

Hi all,
I currently have a Samsung GS3, but I've been thinking about moving over to the one x. I much prefer the design and general feel of the handset. The main thing that's bugging me is the battery, I understand it'll be a down step from the GS3, I'm willing to sacrifice that, I'm just wondering how people deal with it... Custom kernels helping with battery etc.
I usually charge my phone every night, so will that be ok to live with the one x?

Battery life is really good with the custom kernels and roms
Standby time is amazing. I left my phone overnight, started at 60% battery, about 6 or so hours later, guess how much I had left? 59%.
Screen on time isn't brilliant, but the average is 3-4 hours screen on time for most people.
The battery life is a massive step up from my dhd, certainly the gs2, and this is mainly down to the companion core in the tegra 3.
Don't fret about the battery life. I can't say for definite, but it's probably better than GS3 imo. This companion core really does do wonders
Edit: you mention you normally charge overnight, I do if I want to have a full charge for the next day, but with this phone its not actually necessary to charge overnight. Assuming you have at least some battery left lol

Brilliant cheers for the reply. I'll give it ago I think and see what happens.
Seems to me that the rooting and installing custom ROM method is a lot more complicated on the HOX... Is that the case or am I just thinking its a lot more difficult?
It's not too complicated, just make sure you read instructions carefully. The only problem is no s-off yet, so you have to flash boot.img in fastboot mode using computer and unlock via HTC.dev
About battery. It's a biggest problem for me, but I'm a heavy user and sometimes charge during the day. But using it for music, sometimes browser, mail it should last during the day. Just make sure in the evening you have charger I mean, using auto brightness and switching off connections when not needed. despite of this, I really love this phone.
You'll fall in love too
I'm having great battery life with the OrDroid ROM. Averaging almost 4.5 hours of on screen time. Not anywhere near my 6.5 hours with the GS3, but I prefer the One X in most situations.

Seems to me that the rooting and installing custom ROM method is a lot more complicated on the HOX... Is that the case or am I just thinking its a lot more difficult?

To be honest, rooting the Samsung phones looks complicated (I've never done it) however I'm sure it's fairly straightforward to do, once you know how Likewise with the hox, pretty easy once you know how.
Don't be put off by that, the rooting of hox is pretty easy, there's a good guide here that says literally everything you need to do it. Just read it a few times before attempting anything (do this with any of these sorta things imo) I think it's in general section you should be able to find it easily enough

I have them both. The Samsung can be rooted right out of the box in one step. A whole lot easier.
But, once you get the hang of both of them, it's not that difficult to work with either.
Just ordered one

Gotta say, this whole thing with HTC unnecessarily locking them down is gonna make me think hard when it comes to next phone
If it's the same as now, won't be that bad, it's just what else are htc going to do in future to restrict this development?
From their point of view I guess they have unlocked them, previous phones were just locked down but not very well.. They've just done the job properly on locking it down this time (pity not on qc lol)
Gah damn these stupid policies
Probably the wrong place for my little rant lol ^_^

Original Note 7

Hey guys, so....
I don't know if I'm screwed or what. I have an original notes of a not a replacement 1. I got it about a week before The 1st recall. I returned to Verizon about 4 times in the past month and a half to try to get a replacement device [ with the new battery or whatever they did to the replacements ]. However every visit I was told they didn't have my color, gray, in stock. Now it's two months out and there's a total recall on it and I have an original device. I like the phone and wanted to keep it. What the heck do I do now? I've read through some of the threads about keeping the replacement note 7 or not, but I haven't seen anybody with an original one. Is your anybody else with an original note 7 that's going to keep it? And do you guys think that development will continue after all that's happened?
TLR - I still have an original note 7, not replaced (they never had my color), Do you guys think it's safe to keep it and do you think development will continue or die off early ?
Thanks for any advice. Man I really like this stylus ....

I'm in the exact same situation as you. I still have the original model Note 7 and have tried multiple times to exchange it for the "safe" model. At this point given the evidence, I believe that both models are equally safe (relatively). New models and old models catching on fire combined equaled around 90 cases out of about 2,000,000. I'm not sure if the failure rate on the updated models went down, but I feel that failure rate in general is about on par with other devices.
I have read about Apple phones in the past catching on fire. The difference is Samsung tried to be super responsible in this situation by taking ownership and the media and such has definitely exacerbated the situation. Apple never took ownership of any of the battery failures that happened with their devices, and mostly blamed it on the user using 3rd party accessories and such.
I may be wrong, but I believe the issue was blown out of proportion. I'm not saying the phone is safe, but I'm also not saying that this phone is way more unsafe than any of the others.
So, given the statistics and history of the two different models, if you disable fast charging on the device I believe the two different models are on equal ground as far as failure rates go. Which are higher than they should be but still fairly low.

I even thought it was less than that and I'd take those odds, I don't think theyre too bad . However, I did think that my battery was kind of sub-par; this note 7 sucks down quite a bit of juice. I was hoping at the replacements had a better battery or longer-lasting one or something ????.

Is v1 any more prone to failure than v2 though? They sourced the battery from a different manufacturer for v2 to try to head off the problem and there were still fire reports. I'm thinking that the failure rate is probably the same as any other phone, only with Samsung trying to be super careful by calling a recall, actually put themselves under a microscope in the media. They even said that they could not replicate the issue in their labs. V2 was just hoping that the battery was the problem. Which it seems that it wasn't.

they had a lot more reports with v1.. I think it was 90+ then v2 I think is under 10... not sure if time is the culprit or not however
