Have you checked to see if connections optimizer is running? If so, its probably the cause.

Uninstall app? I could be wrong, but I thought connections optimizer had to be uninstalled through root browser or titanium backup.

Hey everyone - I have a few questions, but first - I have less than zero experience in rooting a phone, I've only ever worked with just below surface level PC apps/etc. - Running developer apps to remove stock programs, mostly out of fear of bricking a $700 phone that I use daily as my only phone and the data capability for work related functions, worries me when I don't have enough answers with the possibilities of +/- being laid out ahead of time. I have no problem working on stuff if it WORKS, but I can't have a higher than average risk having a phone crap out on me.
1) Is there any way to stop the WiFi auto-on feature without messing with the Connections Optimizer feature?
2) If there isn't, what options do I have to do the rooting option and taking out CO software (which is admittedly awful and always has been)?
I was much happier before Android upgraded and took away some of the base functionality of the G3 (and gave me stupid Playstation controller logos) that no longer work - along with now a host of other problems like massive battery draining and the WiFi automatically coming on even if I am turning it off.
Suggestions? Advice? Shoot!
Thank you.
wifi turns on automatically
I have a LG G3 D-852 (Canada version).
Running stock 5.0.1.
For some reason wifi turns on even though I manually turned it off. Some people said I need to trun off "Connection Optimizer". But I don't have "Connection Optimizer" Please help!
Yeah same thing here with my DUAL SIM LG G3. I do not have the "Connection Optimiser" on my phone. Mine is an unlocked Malaysian phone with no TELCO apps associated.
Its begining to annoy me and battery sucks. It used to turn on when I had my 2nd SIM as default when boot up, but when i change it to SIM 1 and reboot, its ok. Now I have another SIM in my 2nd SIM slot and its gone berserk and does not follow my process.

Despite checking off Never, my phone is keeping Wi-Fi active and the phone isn't sleeping. Is there a way to fix this glitch? Also despite having an airave at home, my device shows constantly under the battery setting that i have no mobile signal. This is possibly making the phone search for signal, and explains why it often find a weird roaming signal. Anyone know any fixes?

Yep, what this guy said.
It was bugging me for a while too, not sure if its a feature of 4.1.x Android, but my understanding is if the device senses a Wi-Fi connection it turns on the radio and might ask you to try to configure. At the office, while driving, etc etc.

Ive disabled it countless times... it turns itself back on. There are other tiny little hickups Im having. The first device was flawless until an App Installation went corrupt and ruined it... Now I actually have a minor dud. Gotta try for "third times a charm"...

I just noticed that too. It does, or seems to want to turn itself back on. Pretty lame of Sprint to do this if you ask me.

It is a feature of the OTA Samung update that put your device to LJC .. After you installed the update whether it was Automatic over the air or even manually once you device said Update installation successful then a box was up that you had to hit "Ok" and it was the box that read about the new Sprint Optimization option.
So, if you have the wifi on in the house it still causes a problem? Or is this an issue when you are out and have the wifi off, and it still searches for wifi location no matter what killing the battery?
Hey is there a way to turn off WiFi from automatically turning on all the time. Thanks

That's the Sprint Connection Optimizer turning your wifi on all the time. Just disable it in settings (not sure exactly where in settings, but it's definitely there, I'd assume in "more" under wireless settings).

Thanks for the clarification, Rocker of Dragons. I've been running AOSP Roms for so long I've forgotten where all of the settings are in stock TW.
And just a quick question: I noticed in your sig that you used Mskip's Toolkit when rooting. Did you have the same issues with Wifi being borked when you rooted it using the toolkit? I've stopped recommending it because of the issues people have has with it. I currently recommend Skunk Ape's guide, since it's easy to follow and walks you through each step with pictures and everything.
You can remove it via Titanium Backup, if you think its as useless as I do

Ok thanks for your help.

If your on a TW rom I recommend freezing it and not removing. Removing it has caused issues because it is linked to other tw based apps within the system.
On my two cents I love it I pick up wifi hot spots everywhere and the phone just connects automatically once you have already set it up. I go to Target I'm connected, I go to grocery store I'm connected, I go to mall I'm connected, I go to bookstore I'm connected, I go to Home Depot I'm connected, I go to Bahamas Breeze I'm connected... Lol see the advantages to using it.

I've had days problem since day one. Haven't been able to find a fix.
This may not be related but I found in my case that disabling Android Firewall on my LG G3 solved the hotspot internet connection problem.
Mine is not working as well.
Using 3rd party app called Wifi tether router, it works, but it is not freeware.

To disable, click on the 3-dots menu (top right) - assuming, of course, that you've actually got Android Firewall installed.
i also had the same problem. but i installed "wifi tethering" which then got me to install "OpenGarden", however, none of them helped me activate wifi tethering and hence I removed them. But right after that, when I re-enabled hotspot, it started working perfectly fine!! Not sure what happened there, but I thought i'd share it anyway.
Hello -- I was trying out a MDM in the office on my G3, and after disassociating my device with it, I started getting FCs on "vzwavsservice". Mainly when the phone boots up. I can't really find any information online as to what this actually does. I have just disabled it. I have not noticed anything different or malfunctioning on my G3.
Anyone have any ideas what it could be? Obviously it is some sort of VZ Addon...But wondering what its functionality or reasoning is.
Thanks in advance.

I'll be honest. After I posted this, and I froze/disabled this "Service"...I haven't noticed anything not working or acting funny. I would say this is safe to disable. It is likely some type of Verizon add-on.
If you do disable it and see something act up, let me know. Would love to know what it does lol. But for now -- Mine remains disabled. :good:

Try opening the verizon mobile application (the app you would use to check your data...etc)...
Does that give you an error after logging in?
I think that is what it is for...
I started getting this today too. Most of my Verizon stuff is frozen however. Wonder if VZW is pushing an OTA today. Those of us getting it, are we all rooted?
I just got this force close today after updating some apps on the play store. Posting in the Verizon LG G3 section might get more responces.

Rooted, got this. Frozen, no more problem. I'm betting it's a silent update service.
It appears to be conflict with new Google+ update

You can disable the VZWAVSService without being rooted. Which likely means it is really really pointless.
I get it sometimes on stock unrooted, but also always when I have stuck a T-Mobile or ATT sim in the Verizon LG G3.
VZWAVSService caused by Google+ Update
The VZWAVSService error ceased when I went to application manager and uninstalled the Google+ updates.
Once the updates were uninstalled, my mobile hotspot and USB tether functions returned.
It seems that this service is an address verification process. This explains why, when my phone checked my subscription status for Mobile Hotspot and Tethering service, the functions did not activate.

My hotspot service works with VZWAVSService disabled. I do not think that hotspot and this app are related since I had also disabled this service on my Galaxy S3 for months and the hotspot service still worked the entire time.
I have a Verizon LG G3. I just uninstalled the Google+ updates and reverted back to an "Original Version" to see if that goofy message will cease to continue. I am rooted and i have Wifi Tether Router installed. I used Stump Root to root the device.

Just freeze the app, you can even do it in the stock settings. Vzwavservice-Verizon's anti virus software that McAfee makes and it is strait garbage.
The 11c update fixed this issue?
After flashing beans 11c and using if for a while I realized that I had not re-frozen vzwavsservice. It isn't closing on boot anymore. I believe Verizon fixed this issue in the latest software release.
I know there are custom roms to improve battery life and id like to get rid of the cruft but my experience with connections optimizer in the past is that despite my 110mb cable modem and ac wireless router it still wants to go to the cellular data and i havent tried it on my s6 yet. So i still get the popups for this connections optimizer and i close it. Mostly i want that gone. Im not sure if i want root though. Ive seen on the internet that samsung pay doesnt work on rooted devices. Is this true? Still not sure what real advantage 8 core gets anyone.
In the mean time could someone advise about the samsung pay not working with rooted devices?

That is correct, liz.beth. Telling you more than perhaps you want to know, rooting will trip Knox, Samsung's protection system. Once that is tripped, you will not be able to use Samsung Pay on that device, even if you disable root.
I do have a suggestion for you regarding Connections Optimizer. First try going to your Wifi settings, click advanced and disable Wifi from turning on automatically. After that go to settings, to "more", mobile network, the Connection Optimizer and uncheck the box.
Hmm... well i guess we wouldnt like to be tripping knox in that case
I dont actually see an option to prevent wifi from turning on automatically
but i do see a smart network switch option and set it to off
