Hey guys, so i took my case off my G3 today to clean up any dust that may have gotten through and i noticed that there is a tiny hair line crack in the bottom where the microphone is at -__- i looked it up and saw that LG is replacing them for you i was wondering if anyone has returned theirs that has a crack and i am advising everyone to look at their G3s bezel and check if there are any cracks on theirs.
I probably need to unroot my G3 before returning it, but was wondering if i have a G3 from Tmobile with the unlocked bootloader will they send me a Tmobile G3?
http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/lg-g3-owners-complain-of-cracking-issues
Actually I I had the same crack only through the ir blaster. I called lg and they told me to send them the phone and they would review it. Who wants to wait 2 weeks to get their phone back, right? So I called T-Mobile and they said it was a known issue ... Received my replacement from them in 3 days! No hassle at all. Hope this helps
Did you have insurance with your phone? And how long after you bought it would you say you noticed the crack and called tmobile?

I have called tmobile customer care twice. Both times said it wasn't showing up as a known issue. Each time they told me to call LG customer care. How did you get them to replace your phone? This is driving me crazy because after 1 month and no drops or careless handling of this phone, I have cracks I. the housing of a $600 phone. And I'm not sending my phone off for 2 weeks too LG to get repaired.
Lg g3 cracking
I also have this issue im waiting on a response from lg service dept to see if there gonna collect my phone or replace it keep us informed if anybody gets a replacement thanx
Wow I also have cracks on both the top and bottom microphones.. What the hell really? Of course T Mobile is no help.
I just got mine yesterday and no cracks but I did see that the usb port is very difficult abd tight. I could see a crack forming easily just because of the usb port.

Omg, I just got this today. Crack by the bottom Mic and one by the ir blaster. T-Mo was no help and when I called LG the lady there was a moron and had no idea what I was talking about. I feel like some compensation is required here for a 2 month old device to get a crack in the body is absurd. This woman couldn't even garuntee they would send me a new device our would give me one of the extra batteries and charger for my trouble. They also wouldn't even pay for the shipping to send it to the repair facility. Fing ridiculous. I'm about to dump this phone on craigslist and get a Moto x

Yeah like I stated before T Mobile was no help LG had no clue of what language I was speaking and only understood the word "crack" and told me they don't replace cracked screens ?
Managed to get a RMA number but I might just hold on to the phone since I don't last with phones longer than a year anyways and just sell it the way it is.
They will repair it but they won't replace a crack if you dropped it.

No I've never dropped it. I take care of this phone like it's my baby. The thing is immaculate and the fact that lg has terrible customer support about a apparent defect in the phone is really making me re-think lg as a company. Samsung, Motorola, Google, and htc I have never had such problems.

Google LG G3 case cracking and articles on different websites and forums will pop up. Even pictures of the said issue. The cracks are in THE SAME spot on all the affected phones. We have not dropped our phones. There is no other physical damage done to the phone. Look it up dude.
I didn't say you did. I just wanted to see some pictures. It is probably a weak area on the phone and a little stress to the area cracks it. It definitely shouldn't happen but this sort of thing seems to happen to many different phones.

Any chance someone could scan theirs for me (blacking out any personal info)?

I'm sorry. I should have been more specific. I've found several places claiming to sell that for which I'm looking. I've posted some below.

What I need, is a reliable seller that has a quality rear housing. My problem is that I've never heard of any of these sellers and I have no idea how well the housings they're selling were made.
Could someone please point me in the right direction? Have any of you ever ordered from one of these sellers? I'm really short on options here. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

Ya', cnn.cn carries the housing. It's actually one of the links I included in my previous post. I appreciate you letting me know that they're a straight-forward business though. That was my main worry. However, location is also another big worry for me. Are you aware of any suppliers in the United States or Europe? Communication, shipping times, and reliability are just so much better when you're not dealing with potential scammers in China; and for some reason, it's always China.
I've worked with businesses and eBay sellers in South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, India, Australia, the U.K., Germany, and China, and it's always China. I've had a chinese business try to scam me. I've had a chinese business ship me shawdy replacement parts and claim that they're original. If it's not one thing, it's another. Then on the flipside, all of the best stuff comes from China. I have a supplier in China that gets me all of my replacement iPhone parts for my business, and they're fantastic; so is his customer service! It's just so difficult to determine which sellers are good and which sellers are total crap.
Anyway, I should wrap this up. If I don't, it'll turn into a neverending rant. So, if you say that cnn.cn is a good, reliable seller, I guess I'll go ahead and give them a shot. I appreciate your post, and hope you have a pleasant day. Take care and have a good one!
Thank you,
Ed

Sorry Ed, I am not aware of any other suppliers to recommend. I live here in the US as well and have purchased from them many times all without any issue. Still it can be concerning when ordering something from overseas and waiting and waiting and waiting some more for it to arrive.

Well, sad day today. A golf ball landed on my galaxy s3's screen. Needless to say, golf ball > galaxy s3.
Called customer service to see how much it is to be replaced, and with my insurance, its a big 166$. Ridiculous.
EDIT:
My brother works at a Radio shack, and they'll fix it for like 100$.
Has anyone used Radio shack before to get a screen replacement? If so, how long did it take, and did they do a goob job?

Purchase the replacement screen on eBay, watch a video on youtube on the screen replacement. It's easier than you think and wouldn't cost much at all. If your opposed to that I would trust them, it's not difficult.

The 100$ is what my brother said, after looking online it actually ends up to being 329$.
I'm thinking I'll let T-Mobile do it... I don't want to risk destroying it myself..
Kind of sucks though, a golf ball dropped and cracked it as bad as it did, it's at the bottom, like right on the home button, but the crack went to nearly the top of the screen.
Did you check eBay?? I would think they were way under $100 for the screen.

Well I checked Amazon, I have Amazon Prime for free for being a student.. and they are around $15-20.
I just don't want to take the chance that i make it worse than it already is... I'm not good at all at doing things like that, I'd rather it be done by someone who knows what they are doing.
Also, they said I could use a phone from the T-Mobile store until mine is replaced, which is pretty cool..
Understandable you don't want to make it worse than it already is. Try looking for places in your local area, there are repair shops that fix phones and video game systems for a fraction of the cost. Some times on Groupon they have Groupons for say $60 for a screen replacement, that's always another option you could check out.

Yea, I will look around.. But I do like that I can take it to T-Mobile, and they will loan me a phone while it's being fixed. I'll have to odin it back to stock though. Oh well.

Ontop of having Radio Shack doing it...it will void your warranty...to keep your warranty either have T-Mobile or Samsung fix it.

Well I called the insurance company this morning. They said $150, and that my replacement phone will be here tomorrow.
All is well, atleast it still works so I can use it until the new one comes tomorrow. Glad im getting a new one as well, instead of just getting this one fixed and sent back.

Asurion sometimes sends out BNIB devices but only if a) they don't have a refurb on hand or b) you've gone through a few refurbs in a short time.
I tried fixing my Nexus One's cracked screen...ROYALLY ****ed it up (just a little too much glue & ripped a ribbon) and ended up wasting $150 even after selling it for parts on eBay.
I would say if you are thinking about doing it yourself and don't have a lot of patience/manual dexterity/proper tools & work environment, don't try.
Also I figure the S3 is probably a lot harder to take apart than my old N1.

I sent my new Nexus 7 back due to massive, intermittent screen flickering and I was wondering if anybody else has done the same?
The status of repair is:

I am wondering if they even fixed anything or if they are just sending it back. I was hoping they would replace it altogether but it doesn't that way.
Thanks for any responses.
Probably they changed the whole screen.
Most tablet manufacturers will just replace the tablet. Because of the amount of time it will take. Unless someone actually works for the warehouse issuing out Nexus 7 replacements you will not get a solid answer. Just check the serial number when you get your Nexus 7 back.

Some folks are touchy about them. If the company actually goes through the returned units and really does refurbish them, they can be better than new. Unfortunately, a lot of companies like to power them up, see that something is displayed and call them "refurbished". Dunno where ASUS fails in that spectrum...

No. There's no knowing 'for sure' unless they tell you (and even then).
There's no stated policy concerning it, so it's entirely case by case.
If you send a unit for repair, be sure to record the serial #.
That's the only way you'll know for certain.
The refurbished ones are generally indistinguishable from new.
Most places will send a refurbished unit unless there are absolutely no refurbished ones available.
Last month I sent my 2012 32GB N7 back to ASUS for warranty repair. I had been living with bad external speakers for a couple months. While transitioning from portrait to landscape when I was watching a video the tablet froze up and started making a high pitched squealing noise. Only thing I could do is long press the power button. Long story short...a little over 2 weeks after sending the N7 away I got the same tablet back with new speakers.
What a fail company Asus is...
Got my tablet back with "TEST OK/NO TROUBLE FOUND" so they call 7 dead pixels NO TROUBLE FOUND?? They pulled this **** on my before with the Prime so they are in for another discussion... WTF do they employ monkeys there??
I got my Nexus 7 back from repair yesterday and is not the same unit I sent in. I can't tell if it is a refurbished unit or new but either way I'm happy it's a different one.... for now.

Yeah well I contacted HTC and because it is a US phone it's gonna cost me $100 to get it shipped to Taiwan to be repaired as local New Zealand stores will not cover it.
It's a real pain in the ass. I could get it replaced by Amazon but then I have to ship it to someone in the US to ship to Amazon to replace it .and then get it shipped back to me as they will not replace it if I ship it directly to them.
I literally just got this phone last night and so disappointed that it just happened to be one of the unlucky phones. :'(

Man that sucks
You can always try self repair.
That is cosmetic part only. If you see iFixit teardown, that strip is basically held down by simple glue. You can take it all out carefully (use hair dryer to soften rest of the glue). Make sure that stripe is straight. If it isn't, make it straight and put it back on using fresh glue (dont use super glue, use hot melt adhesive minimally, spread it using match stick or something small on the back of the strip. Or you can use any water based adhesive that dries to clear finish).
It is not that difficult repair job. You can always take help of local repair shop. This is rather simple fix.

I have the same with mine, but not that bad.
It's quiet simple to repair with super glue and one razor. You just have to put a very tiny bit of glue in the razor and spare it, but be carefully to do not split glue over the screen or the camera!
I'm just watching mine, if it gets worst I'll try to fix, but seems to be same since I bought it.
This sort of tampering results in a warranty void though doesn't it? I'd be really keen to try it out. But then if something really bad does happen to my phone I wanna be able to fix it. Haha man if only everything was just perfect
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Free mobile app
My phone has the exact same issue. Does not seem to get worse, but over a span of a year or two I could see that peeling off substantially more. It is held on by simple adhesive, I'm put off by the issue but then again it is an easy fix.

Can you not replace yours either? I'm tempted to fix it, but I dont want to void the warranty if its needed. This is covered under warranty I assume? Since its happening to multiple people it should be anyway! Itll cost me $99 if I wanna replace it since I bought it from Overseas. I could get a free replacement from Amazon but that requires the US address to send it to. Any trustworthy people out there?? haha

My phone has the exact same issue. Does not seem to get worse, but over a span of a year or two I could see that peeling off substantially more. It is held on by simple adhesive, I'm put off by the issue but then again it is an easy fix.

Grizraz, did you eventually repair it yourself or did you send it in? My friend bought an m8 and has this problem as well. She's going to bring it back to the carrier to see if they can do something for her. Otherwise she might go the warranty route. I'm considering helping with the repair because it seems easy..
Everyone else who repaired it themselves.. Was it easy?

I took the phone to the local Sprint dealer, a mall kiosk, they never heard of this happening and simply referred me out to some support number. I have not attempted to fix it yet, will post when I do with photos etc. Hopefully if someone else fixes it, they will do the same
