[Q] Z1 Compact Reverse Tethering - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys,
i hope someone can help me. I exchanged my HTC One M7 against the Sony Z1 compact. With my HTC One, there was no problem to use reverse tethering.
With the Z1c i tried the AndroidTool. It works, but not for all apps(Threema, PlayStore, Mail etc.). Even with activated HackTool(xposed)...
I hope to get these function back. I tried CandyCat and LiquidSmooth Rom. But there is no reverse tethering option, and same problem with Android Tool..)
Does anyone have an idea how to get reverse tethering fully compatible with all apps?
Thanks!
Cos phi
P.s. Excuse my bad English!

Just use VANIR AOSP 4.4.4 with GDKernel. Everything(Playstore, Threema, Browser) works fine with Android Reverse Tethering Tool and without Xposed Hacking Tool!!!
Edit:
Rom is prerooted without SuperUser app. I'm using SuperSu 2.45. No Xposed. No FakeWifi and after one connect to a 3G Signal after each boot, the Android Reverse Tethering Tool 3.19 is running fine with all apps.

[Q] Help - Portable Wifi Hotspot not working!

My wife's just got a tablet so wants to get it connected via her Wildfire.
We tried turning it on last night but it's not working properly - the hotspot functionality itself seems be enabled properly, but in Wireless and Networks, the text under the 'Mobile network' option keeps cycling between 'Connected' and 'Use phone for data connection...'.
The text 'Wi-Fi hotspot active' keeps appearing and disappearing from the notification area.
We appear to be able to successfully connect the tablet via wifi to the Wildfire but there's no internet access.
The handset is completely stock and unbranded (Froyo, build 2.22.405.1). Internet access in general is fine and my wife's data plan specifically allows tethering (GiffGaff UK, using a Gigabag).
Has anyone else encountered this issue and found a way around this? Am willing to start rooting and flashing other ROMs if it will solve the problem.
for tethering try the Barnacle wifi tethter app from market - works for me
I'll give that a try when I get home and report back here.
Have you ever tried it using the in-built functionality and either found it to work or not? Considering I've not had problems with my own handsets (previously a Desire, now a Sensation) it seems odd that I can't get it to work on my wife's Wildfire.
I used the built in one on stock rom with no problems at all on 2 wildfires, I used to use all mine then leech from the girlfriends. Could it be a problem with her apn setting? Maybe call customer service and check its set correctly for tethering.
Personally I'd tell her its broke though and flash it like I did the girlfriends purely because I'm a flashaholic!!

Just in case anyone was wondering (or for the benefit of future searchers)... I finally got the Hotspot working after I installed a custom ROM (DK Custom Froyo v4.7 - I didn't want anything too different to Stock).
Custom kernels etc. didn't work (in fact, the one I tried destabilised the handset), neither did other options such as Barnacle on the stock ROM.
Thanks everyone for trying.

Possible to connect to an ad-hoc WiFi network?

Hi!
I know google doesn't want to implement this feature into Android, but there are a lot of patched wpa-supplicant around that work on other phones. Is there one for our phone? Has anybody managed to get this working? I looked all over but wasn't able to find a solution for HTC One X.
Thanks!

Just by searching, I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1718053
just by searching, i found this and many other things for other phones but nothing seems to work on hox, at least for me, that's why i asked here. there is surprisingly little discussion about this issue for our phone, so i thought maybe someone managed to get it working some way or the other. thanks anyway!

Well I tested it yesterday on my HOX, and I successfully connected my HOX to the ad-hoc network. The add-hoc network even shows up in the available network list on my HOX.
Edit: I created the add-hoc network on a Macbook Pro running a Windows 8.1 bootcamp.
well, ad-hoc networks, created e.g. with an iphone or some other phone, certainly don't show up in wifi settings, but this is usual android behaviour as far as i know. they show up in wifi manager app, but i can't connect to them, even with static ip, as it's described in some possible solutions like the one you posted before.
well, my sailing trip, where i need such access, because during sailing we use an old windows mobile samsung omnia as a 3g wifi router, is unfortunately slowly coming to an end, and back home i won't be having this problem anymore .
thanks for your help!

[Q] Remove stock wireless tether

Hello, I use my unlimited data as home wifi, and have been for a while, but I am always afraid that somehow the veri$on tether app (more like fee) will somehow trigger, right now I am using the TikTak rom (for around 10 minutes) and it seems like it's not in this rom at all (the verizon tether deal) can anyone confirm if this is the case, or point me to another rom that doesn't have it?
I'm not real particular with my roms, as long as everything major works and I can still tether. my default is the stock rom just rooted, I like sense and all it's features (though I don't use them all) but am as I said impartial.

tiKtaK has working native wifi tethering and bypasses/does not trigger any Verizon specific restrictions.
Hopefully that answers your question...?

Really? I didn't see that on there, I had a .apk for FoxFi on my storage, and it didn't seem to work on tiktak, so I switched back to wifi tether (the app) I'll pry a little more into that and see how well the native tether works.
also, is there a way to turn off fastboot in tiktak? I had trouble booting into recovery.

Wireless hotspot will not work

Hi Guys,
I'm all shiny and new to this forum, so let me introduce myself real quick. My name is Saragn, I'm a security engineer from South Africa and I recently decided to start modding my HTC One M8. I produce music professionally in my spare time and have released music internationally under three different genres on various labels. I love tech and love playing with anything that is powered and has lights ha ha ha...
So, on Friday I installed the following ROM from Skydragon: "SkyDragon M8 v 3.1 WWE Sense 7.zip". It works REALLY WELL, I love how it has opened up the phone for modding. The only gripe I have is the wireless hotspot function does not work anymore. If I try enable it, it simply flicks between on and off repetitively. It is as if it cannot switch on. To stop it from doing that I have to enable the wireless, it then stops and the wireless enables. If I try switch on the hotspot again it does the same thing. I've re installed the ROM twice now and each time it does the same thing.
Firstly, apologies if this is the wrong part of the forum to start this thread, if so, please could one of you be so kind as to point me in the right direction? Thank you.
If it is the right place to post this question then some guidance would be highly appreciated. What can I do to get the wireless hotspot feature to work again? Thanks!!
Ciao for now,
Saragn
Try updating the ROM. Skydragon Sense 7 is now on version 4.1
Changelog for version 4.0 says "Fixed Wifi-HotSpot - may not work, will provide fix zip asap"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59633002&postcount=3
So apparently this is a known issue. But some folks report that WiFi hotspot (tethering) is working. Seems to be working for me on version 4.1, but I haven't testing it extensively.

There was a fix posted for v3.1 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59521467&postcount=2666
But it is advisable to flash a new updated ROM v4.1 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/development/rom-sd-4-0-sense7-port-sdkernel-t3062378
You'll have better experience with the updated one
Hi,
Thank you very much for the feedback. I'll try out 4.1 as per your suggestion. I'll let you know how it goes.
Regards,
Saragn

Hi there...Okay so another update for you. The wireless hotspot switches on now, so I thought it would be okay. It isn't. Even though it switches on and accepts connections, what ever end point I connect to the hotspot cannot browse the Internet and while the hotspot is on the phone itself cannot connect to anything so it seems that enabling the hotspot disconnects the phone from the Internet. I am not sure if you guys have picked this up yet on 4.1 ?

Wifi Calling on non-EE handset

I saw over in the Galaxy S6 forum that the clever folks there had figured out how to enable the EE wifi calling feature on handsets that weren't on official EE software. This then seemed to work on other similar handsets (S5 etc).
So I'm wondering if anyone here has figured out how to get it working on the M7?

I would be very interested in a solution to this.
EE now support Wifi Calling on the M9 (http://ee.co.uk/help/phones-and-device/htc/htc-one-m9/setting-up-wifi-calling-on-the-htc-one-m9), and I've just had wifi calling enabled on my account, after I rang EE. They did not ask about my phone, but I was told that after they enabled it on their end, I would have the option pop up in my Phone settings. Needless to say that has not happened on my Eragon ROM.
Does anyone have a stock M9 with Wifi Calling working on EE? Would you mind uploading a copy of your CSC folder?
Regards,
Daniel
Anyone got any updates on this? I have an M9 on EE but bought from another retailer and am keen to get WiFi calling if possible.
I managed to get this working by installing an EE RUU and then updating to the latest firmware.

In your opinion is it worth the hassle? I'm completely stock still at the moment, no root or nothing.
Thanks

It was worth it for me as I have no mobile signal at home, but otherwise I would have stayed with a custom ROM.

Progress, managed to get wifi calling on a non EE HTC m9 using the following RUU:
http://androidruu.com/getdownload.php?file=M9/0PJAIMG_HIMA_UHL_L50_SENSE70_Orange_UK_1.32.61.6_R1_Radio_01.01_U11440261_56.01.50303G_3_F_release_425089_signed.zip
I got it installed using the sd card card method (0PJAIMG.zip) but every time it got to the setup wizard it would reset after about 5 to 10 secs of loading. I couldn't work out why it was bootloop and thought the rom was bad. Turns out that the ROM checks the CID. I was supercid (11111111) however it needs to be ORANG001. Once I'd done that it works great. Than I got the OTA to get to the latest 2.10.61.6 and wifi calling is working great. Need to make sure it's turned on with EE too by speaking with customer services.
Looking for someone who knows about ROMs and how they are built so we can try and get the required bits out to allow custom ROMs to be modded. Anyone out there who can help? I'm out of my depth, but looking to get better at all of this!
