[Q] How To Disable Re-Save for APK Templates? - Zooper Widget General

Hi everyone. I have been getting tips from this forum for quite some time now, so I thought it was best to join the forum. I am uncertain how to disable Re-Save for APK templates. Does this have to be done within Zooper Widget Pro or Eclipse? Thanks in advance!

That has to be done in Eclipse. Check the screenshot to Step 7 in this guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2594973 There you can see the structure of the zooper.xml, which has a member called zooper_pack_allowsave. Setting this to 0 will block users from saving modified widgets from your pack.

Thanks for the quick response. Worked! Is it possible also make bitmaps, text, weather, etc disabled from editing? If so, how? Thanks!

No, the user will always be able to edit the widget. He just can't save the edited version as a template.

Great, thanks. I have one last question. Within the zooper.xml I add a description and author name, but on Zooper Widget Pro, my template appears with its icon but the name of the template is still called Sample Template Pack with the description still saying "Pack Description". I am obviously doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what though.

I am still getting this problem. In the strings.xml I change >Sample Template Pack< to >FUTURE_TECH Theme< and add a description, but in my templates list it is still appearing as Sample Template Pack and the description is still "Pack Description". The only thing that appears correctly is the ic_launcher icon.

Then your probably didn't edit the appropriate values in the zooper.xml (again, see Step 7 of the linked tutorial). If you edited strings.xml but it shows up in the list as "Sample Template Pack", make sure zooper_pack_name is set to @string/app_name, as shown in the screenshot of the tutorial.

I want to know this too!
To my knowledge, this is not able to be done with a reg hack on the smartphone devices.
An add-on application (not free), X-Bar 3.2 will accomplish what your are asking as well as provide other functionality not native with smartphone OS:

^^ Just tried to check that link out but its dead?
remove the double http - it is not dead...
OOpsss! haha way to early in the morning for me to notice that =X sorry
and you guys are sure tehre is no way to add it without this program?

You can set it to 12-hour time by specifying the "-12" parameter. The way you do this is by creating a shortcut to the ClockOnTop_QVGA_WM5.exe file (\Program Files\ClockOnTop\ClockOnTop_QVGA_WM5.exe).
Here is an example shortcut file:
Code:
55#"\Program Files\ClockOnTop\ClockOnTop_QVGA_WM5.exe" -12
Put this in \Windows\Start up.
Only problem with this is that there will be a Chinese character appended to the time, and I am not sure how to get rid of it. If someone could search the registry for this program, maybe there is a language code that can be modified...
hey guys, thanks a lot for this program, its exactly what i needed. however, i'm really sorry, but i'm completly new to this, and i need to change it to the 12 hr format. if you could please explain how to do this in an easier way (i dont know how to make a shortcut?) i would really appreciate it. thanks a lot

Let's talk about fonts. FlipFonts!

Hello everyone. It seems that I can't see any other thread with this topic in my searches so I'm starting a new one.
FlipFonts are built-in to our Samsung Galaxy S's and they're quite nice. What are your thoughts on them, and do you have a favourite one?
My favourites are Dave Gibbons and Soho Gothic. I wish there were free fonts, or better yet, a way to use OpenType/TrueType fonts.
UPDATE /// Create Your Own Flipfonts!

I present you with two threads. The first is my How-To thread with everything you need to start making FlipFonts. First time will probably take you about 20 minutes, After you get use to the steps you can make one in 5 minutes.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745345
The next thread is the Vibrants Master List of user created FlipFonts. All that I ask is that you post your flipfonts in this thread so that they are all located in one location. We have been trying to keep the fonts in the first few posts with links that allow for download in the XDA tapatalk app.

agree, i've been pondering about that as well, there should be a way to convert/import regular TrueType fonts into our phones
I've seen other fonts being and installed by users, but am I right in thinking that you need your phone rooted to be able to use them properly?
Check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=735148 u have to be rooted, but its working with truetype fonts.

the official route is to buy them from Market then
Settings => Display => Font Style
I do like the Helvetica Nueue and Frutiger but none of the flipfonts I've tried seem to include a bold weighting (important for me when seeing what email is unread, also the time in status panel should be bold etc).
Droid Sans (the default) is pretty cool though anyway.

It's a pity no one's figured out how to package them in an apk for installation by non-root users. All good stuff though.
My favorites are Helvetica Neue and Soho Gotic (my #1 favorite), though some applications look a bit ugly when using other fonts than Droid Sans.

Are you guys serious... I created a method for making your own FlipFonts and posted it in every Galaxy S variant forum on XDA, Im a Vibrant user. Hell my howto was even posted on AdroidSpin last week.
This method does NOT need root and works just like the fonts in the market.

Dude, I'd give you 3 stars and a pint of your favourite drink for sharing this with us.
--- EDIT ---
Already created my first FlipFont! I'll be posting it in that thread. Off to create screenshots now. It didn't come out as good as I wanted, it looks a bit too small, but hey.
No problems... I'm glad so many people have found the how to useful.
If you want to check your font size before making the apk double click on any of the capital letter glyphs after you do the paste special. This will open up the edit window for that glyph. You should see the original guides for android fonts listed there. Use the cap height and other to see if the new characters are too small or too big.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
did something happen to the font thread?
yes, why are the fonts missing?
Wondering too.I created some flipfonts.now where to post?maybe I'm allowed to share them here again.
post to keep this thread up or shall I start a new one with a collection of all flipfonts/my flipfonts?
Thanks for the tutorial.
Soon, i'm converting the fonts on my PC to my SGS!

Accent changer for Focus & other Samsung devices

Thanks to the code by RustyGrum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914055), I've put together an accent changer app for the Focus and other Samsung devices.
http://www.daveamenta.com/2011-01/change-accent-colors-on-windows-phone-7-samsung-devices/
I have a version here that should work on HTC, LG and Samsung devices! Please test and let me know if it works
I can confirm that it works on the OMNIA 7 ! Many thanks for this.
The app changes the color in the registry but not the name of the accent.
If I start my settings app for changing the theme the color is changed but the name is still the same but the theme changer shows the changed name.
Cheers

No problem here when changing the names etc. I created a dark blue theme. Looks very clean. I changed the pink theme to dark blue. It replaced the naming for me.

It looks like that there are differences between Focus and OMNIA 7.
For example I have changed the pink accent to darkblue.
On my OMNIA 7:
1. the name of the accent isn´t change.
2. The color of the homescreen tabs is changed to darkblue
3. If I run e.g. Voice to text the tabs are still pink and not darkblue.
Any ideas ?
Cheers contable
The reason it's likely not working for you is the regional code for your language (german.) In the registry, the names for the colors are stored on a per-language basis, in different locations. En-US, for example, is 0409. You'll need to go to the correct location yourself, and edit the entry. I made an editor tonight that can edit the values, get it here.

Thanks for the information. If I change the region/language settings to en-us also the name of the accent color has been changed. Confirmed.
But if I run Voice to text app on my OMNIA 7 the color of the tabs is still not changed...

This doesn´t help.
It´s strange that some apps have changed the new color and others not.
apps which didn´t change the accent color:
1. Voice to text
2. MSN Germany
3. MSN Messenger
apps which changed the color:
1. Pictures
2. Contacts
3. Email
4. Messaging
any idea ?

Thanks for this. Will try on my Omnia 7 later and report back
Ive also updated my app to make it work on different devices.
It seems to work on both Samsung and HTC.
I'm looking for someone with a LG device to test it.

Note : I'm also writing a cross device library for registry and provxml access. This is the first app using it.

It's not device-specific anymore, and it never was. It was intended for all Samsung phones, and now includes Samsung and HTC.

Are you moderator ?
I think posts which are related to the development of all devices are allowed...
I´m member of the moderator team at modaco.com so I suggest that you report posts which are - in your opinion - against the xda forum rules to tito, the moderator of this WP7 section.
Thanks.

Sure, I'll package it later tonight.
I'm also thinking about your idea (I think it was yours) to mimic .Net namespace.
It would be nice to have a cross device lib with the same API as standard .Net on the PC.

I have already started this (I did run into some COM threading issues I am not quite sure how to best handle, though). I have much support for System.Net.Sockets and System.IO. I wasn't sure if we should handle Registry like Microsoft.Win32.Registry or what, so I just made some basic Samsung-specific APIs for now.
I believe someone else is working on a cross-platform library as well, but I don't t know if the plan is to mimic .Net[CF]. I would much like to work together though, I'm planning to update this app later today (restore to default, some stuff I didn't finish because it was too late ), and it'd suck if we forked for essentially no reason.

List icons name of installed apps

Hello everyone
Let me know if I can get a list of names of the icons displayed on the menu.
I want to create a theme icons but it is hard to see any apps that name carries.
For example facebook: icon_launcher_facebook.png but there are applications that do not respond to this syntax.
Any idea?
Maybe this helps a bit, there is a icon set theming tutorial in one of first posts of the following thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747433
There is a activity finder and a tutorial.

Yes I read the details of the post.
My idea is to create a theme for the stock sense and not for the venom (using a framework for the icons).
I know but i thought it might be helpful to understand some more about the logic behind it......

I think it's completely different.
I'm looking on google for days but could not find anything about it.
I avoid using rom with non-standard options (see venom, virtuous, etc.) simply because these options change from smartphone to smartphone.
So it is more logical to rely on the standard android instead of trying mods that are born and die in the same way.
Then im afraid i can't give you the answer how to do it atm......ah well at least i tried

Is there a chance to add support for them?
