List icons name of installed apps - HTC One X

Hello everyone
Let me know if I can get a list of names of the icons displayed on the menu.
I want to create a theme icons but it is hard to see any apps that name carries.
For example facebook: icon_launcher_facebook.png but there are applications that do not respond to this syntax.
Any idea?

Maybe this helps a bit, there is a icon set theming tutorial in one of first posts of the following thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747433
There is a activity finder and a tutorial.

Yes I read the details of the post.
My idea is to create a theme for the stock sense and not for the venom (using a framework for the icons).

I know but i thought it might be helpful to understand some more about the logic behind it......

I think it's completely different.
I'm looking on google for days but could not find anything about it.
I avoid using rom with non-standard options (see venom, virtuous, etc.) simply because these options change from smartphone to smartphone.
So it is more logical to rely on the standard android instead of trying mods that are born and die in the same way.

Then im afraid i can't give you the answer how to do it atm......ah well at least i tried

iReflect icons for WM6.5

I had a few people asking for icon packs. I resized the first half of the 200+ icons entitled iReflect to fit the panels for WM6.5 without stretching them. Download it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?c3xmtmdjjawI'll be finishing the rest tomorrow night and posting the second pack in this thread. Additionally for all who have been wanting icons and backgrounds and are new to XDA check out the thread from dash users aimed specifically for icon pack request and background images http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=415528
Hallo. It would be nice to give me some credits for creating all of this icons. This are the rules as i wrote in my first post. Thank you.

Alright well here is what you wrote, "If you use this for a ROM, Application or a theme here, just give me some credits, no need to ask. It is not allowed to post this icons anywere else or use them for commercial apps without my permission."
As you can see I neither made a ROM, App, nor a theme. And certainly didn't use it for commercial use. So I won't give you credit. I clearly mentioned the name that you branded your icon pack and everyone knows I didn't make them. I resized them. So live with it. I got no problem just taking the link down and not letting the fruits of your labor be seen by others. I was trying to help you out. So don't troll forums for your own stuff and see who violated your rules, just be happy your work is appreciated.

Great looking icons
Hey there... I need help if you may, I want to know how to replace the icons on my phone with these?

Let's talk about fonts. FlipFonts!

Hello everyone. It seems that I can't see any other thread with this topic in my searches so I'm starting a new one.
FlipFonts are built-in to our Samsung Galaxy S's and they're quite nice. What are your thoughts on them, and do you have a favourite one?
My favourites are Dave Gibbons and Soho Gothic. I wish there were free fonts, or better yet, a way to use OpenType/TrueType fonts.
UPDATE /// Create Your Own Flipfonts!

I present you with two threads. The first is my How-To thread with everything you need to start making FlipFonts. First time will probably take you about 20 minutes, After you get use to the steps you can make one in 5 minutes.

The next thread is the Vibrants Master List of user created FlipFonts. All that I ask is that you post your flipfonts in this thread so that they are all located in one location. We have been trying to keep the fonts in the first few posts with links that allow for download in the XDA tapatalk app.

agree, i've been pondering about that as well, there should be a way to convert/import regular TrueType fonts into our phones
I've seen other fonts being and installed by users, but am I right in thinking that you need your phone rooted to be able to use them properly?
Check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=735148 u have to be rooted, but its working with truetype fonts.

the official route is to buy them from Market then
Settings => Display => Font Style
I do like the Helvetica Nueue and Frutiger but none of the flipfonts I've tried seem to include a bold weighting (important for me when seeing what email is unread, also the time in status panel should be bold etc).
Droid Sans (the default) is pretty cool though anyway.

It's a pity no one's figured out how to package them in an apk for installation by non-root users. All good stuff though.
My favorites are Helvetica Neue and Soho Gotic (my #1 favorite), though some applications look a bit ugly when using other fonts than Droid Sans.

Are you guys serious... I created a method for making your own FlipFonts and posted it in every Galaxy S variant forum on XDA, Im a Vibrant user. Hell my howto was even posted on AdroidSpin last week.

Dude, I'd give you 3 stars and a pint of your favourite drink for sharing this with us.
--- EDIT ---
Already created my first FlipFont! I'll be posting it in that thread. Off to create screenshots now. It didn't come out as good as I wanted, it looks a bit too small, but hey.
No problems... I'm glad so many people have found the how to useful.
If you want to check your font size before making the apk double click on any of the capital letter glyphs after you do the paste special. This will open up the edit window for that glyph. You should see the original guides for android fonts listed there. Use the cap height and other to see if the new characters are too small or too big.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
did something happen to the font thread?
yes, why are the fonts missing?
Wondering too.I created some flipfonts.now where to post?maybe I'm allowed to share them here again.
post to keep this thread up or shall I start a new one with a collection of all flipfonts/my flipfonts?
Thanks for the tutorial.
Soon, i'm converting the fonts on my PC to my SGS!

Why are you reposting someone else's rom whose thread is like 5 links above yours?
What is wrong with you?
Yeah, just release the theme. Entire ROM is insane in the membrain ~P
USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. THIS THEME OR ROM IS IN NO WAY CONNECTED TO DOCS OFFICIAL ROM.
THIS IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED, AND NO SUPPORT WILL BE GIVEN TO USERS OF THIS THREAD. THE END.

Well maybe it would be nice for beginners not to have to change the theme themselves.
On the other hand, maybe it would be a little bit dangerous for complete nOObs to be messing around with firmwares....

Yes I agree with the open source comment, but this is very misleading and unclear. There are no credits or any other important information to avoid confusion. For a start the title says DOC...therefore users would automatically think its directly from doc, when this is not the case. And secondly the paste should create a different title and then post the necessary details in the thread.

But that's a mistake, something that can be fixed easily by adding a few extra lines in the title. However, some member seems to have it wrapped around their head that no one else should be allowed to modify Doc's ROM and release a different version of it (Yes, I am pointing my finger at SOMEONE).

then the poster should edit that asap. I am all for open source - Beauty comes with freedom.
But my main point is... if there is something wrong with this rom along with the title...is the poster going to accept responsibility and provide advice and assistance ? or will the users of this misleading thread rush across and spam for help.. and again who would help ? Cause i damn sure wont because for one..i dont even know what this rom consists of, what is inside, and features and so on..
that is my main argument... the poster should make it clear and not misleading... or its gonna cause problems mainly for users when supposedly phones start getting bricked etc..
where is all the break down of details in the first post... jesus!

The open source doesn't mean you can fix someone's effort without his permission. Maybe Pepi just want to make this ROM better, but please don't use the product number 7.6.2.1 , it was very easy to let user confusing the vendor of ROM.
please put more info, credit listing and all that in the first post.
also, please ask doc / kalpik and whoever is involved in your "remake" of the rom for permissions before proceeding, it's just good gesture.

If you're pointing at me, you don't know what my argument is.. I am all for opensource.. But creating 10000001 same ROMs just by changing theme and keyboards absolutely makes no sense, and serves to just fragment the users/help/issues/support/bugs etc.. Just because you *can* do something doesn't mean you *should*..

Sorry Kalpik. I didn't mean you at all. My apologies if I caused any bad feelings.
I am just annoyed at some users who seem to have a habit of walking into every single thread that's about a modification of Doc's rom and telling the developer to basically stop whatever him/her is doing. Argue, yes, discuss yes, but don't just drop a line or two telling the developer to stop.
No need for sorry mate, basically no one wants anyone to have spent few hundred of whatever currency on a super dupa SGS, and just end up bricking there bundle of joy because of someones error, ignorance or whatever..

appeal to all ROM cooks

Hello dear Rom Cooks
Its just annoying that every ROM cook use different location for (as example) the bootanimation
So i want to make an appeal, that we make a standard for some things!
For bootanimation, why we don't use simply:
System/media/bootloader
So, please, use this Thread as a meeting place to make a standard. If anyone got more Ideas, just Post it.
i gonna make an answer, where i put in the results from the "meetings"

Reserved for the standards
just my opinion...but don't you think developers have enough issues to worry about when creating their roms? why add another thing to do on their list and create standards for them?
Not trying to cause an argument, but I think people who do this in their spare time shouldn't be confined to a "standard"
by the way htc's standard for boot animation is system/customize/resource.
so, that should be the standard. but I believe the user should just ask the dev what folder things are in in their forum if they cannot figure it out on their own.

I don't want to bind them on a standard. Just think it would be easyer. I agree that they have much other problems and i don't want to critizise their work.
Seems Like a Good Idea. Why don’t we give this a try?
maybe a cook find some other things, which would be able to standardize

Of course this is a possible variant. BUT:
I think every one would agree, that in a thread which is about 8000 sites, no one would read anything and find the correct path. And much people don't use the thread search bar. So with one ROM, many people would ask the same. And when it works, and we could create "a standard" for things like this, its possible to make a sticky, so everyone can go there and watch, where which datas are.
And by the way: i tried this phath wigh ARHD but the zip file (the bootanimation) don't works... i had to take a app.
There are just 2 place where you can find bootanimation.zip in HTC ROMs
/data/local/bootanimation.zip
/system/customize/resources/bootanimation.zip
So...2 places, not much I think. First place is common for custom ROMs, 2nd place is common for stock ROMs.

+1 I would rather the Devs focus more on increasing the performance etc... on our phones as they do already rather than messing around standardising the location of bootanimations. All Devs produce different work and if they were all the same it would be pointless much like this thread is.
EDIT: Also I understand the thinking behind posting this in the Development section however a discussion like this really belongs in General

If you previously had a HTC device and prefer running custom Sense ROMs, you would know what Mike has pointed out.
All you need do to find the bootanimation.zip is just open the ROM zip with your choice of archiver 7Zip or WinRAR and search the folders and replace it with your choice of bootanimation, that is if you wana change the animation.
As for your suggestion regarding where to place the bootanimation, why do you want to re-invent the wheel, if that is where you would prefer it, cook a ROM and put it there.
I'm happy where it is and know where to find it if i wana change it, i prefer to have my phone in a booted state, i mean c'mon how many times a day are you gona boot and reboot your phone?

Nopa. I dont write about that all devs must make the same. a work is characterized by tweaks, gui, perfomance etc etc etc. not by the folders. so i I have to disagree with you

Rom Development / Modding How to get started?

Hey everybody,
I recently bought the galaxy nexus because I wanted to start getting into Rom Development.
I can programm Java and also programmed some simple apps..
But what I really wanted to do is to modify a Rom.
Can anybody tell me where to start? I read guides on how to compile from source and so on, but I don't know if that's what I need.
I want to add things like Notification bar quick settings to the rom.. Are there tutorials on how to develop these things?
Every help is appreciated, maybe you've got some great links for me, thanks!

start with decompiling apks (SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk for example) , if u've wrote android apps before (and u said u did), then it shouldn't be that hard to look into the .xml and .jar files. when u finish, compile the .apk back. if u've worked with Eclipse then u probably know the android structure.
Edit: Here is an example of a "ROM modification" - just posting it to give u an example..
Well first thing is first. You need to have the bare basics of Android thoroughly understood obviously. Often overlooked as a first step in this process, just learning about(different than knowing about)the Android Open Source Project first will give you a specific sense of direction, purpose, as well as an identity in the community..
So again- I don't just mean knowing about it- I mean knowing exactlyhow the whole project is structured. Read about all the different types of contributions you/anyone can make to the Android ecosystem. Are you an aesthetics kind of person who would excel at UI designs for apps or whatever; Are you a person who has a good eye for problem solving? Maybe you should be scouring source code, trying to fix little-noticed "bugs" that "bug" the hell out of you. Once you know what you want to do, make sure you find out exactly how much Google provides for you, and what your own roles/responsibilities would be in the whole scheme of things.) This should give you a good idea of where you might fit in (with your current skill-set)and hopefully, it gives you some inspiration about the direction you might want to take it in the future.
Once you do this and "find your calling", post back here, and I'm sure that others qualified in that field will be more than happy to share how they got started.
There is no substitute to just jumping in and trying things though. Everybody makes their own journey differently, so do what comes naturally, and you can't go wrong.
Here ya go

and maybe this as well?

Wow thank you every body for these great comments! I think I'll compile a Rom from source first and look through all the files..
Decompiling apks looks interesting too.
Thanks for the fast responses & links, you're awesome!
Okay so I've got another question..
One thing I always liked on some custom roms was the lockscreen flashlight..
If I would hold power for 3 seconds, the flashlight would turn on until I let go the power button.
I decompiled the framework-res.apk but didn't find anything there, just .xml files.
Where are the files where I can actually code / programm something for the lockscreen?
Try android.policy.jar
Usually the jar files contain the code, xml are for visual stuff.
But my question is, are u sure it is a lockscreen feature? (I mean the torch option) . Tbh this is the first time i hear of such a mod and i've been using android devices for over 2 yrs
