Okay so, earlier today I was running in sweats with my phone in my pocket (yea i know, im stupid) and it fell out onto the cement. Unforunately for me I didnt have a case (lesson learned, order one now). Results of the drop are in the images But yea no damage to the screen at all, just some scratches to the side and the battery door (which im going to replace) but what do I do about the side? Is there anything I can do to fix it, or anywhere I can go to fix it or like anywhere I can send it to fix it? Any help is highly appreciated!

They do scratch fixes? How much is it? Does the warranty cover it?
They gonna replace the bezel. You have to call for price or just stick in a case and forget it.
AWESOME G3
Thank you so much!
I doubt you will get the same phone back so if its still running good you should keep it. You never can know what kind of crappy refurbished phone you will get back. Besides you will never see all of the scratches and scuffs with a case on.
theyd send back a used phone? wouldnt they just replace that one part?
Yeah they probably would but at there own speed. Your phone would most likely become a refurb replacement for somebody else in the future. I might be wrong maybe lg is different from most other manufacturers or maybe the manufacturers are doing it differently than they use to.
oh okay, thanks, you just saved me a **** ton lol
You should still call and ask as I said I could be wrong. But if I am right your phone is probably running better than most refurbs out there.
Ill do that, thanks for the help, much appreciated!

So I droped my phone and now I have a purple spot in my screen.
I was wondering do you think I can get a replacement G2 even if I have S-off. I was thinking about just flashing the stock rooted backup I have and sending it in. Has anyone gotten a replacement with S-off?

you would need to go back to stock to send it back to tmobile or you will be voiding your warrenty

Obvious physical damage is unlikely to be repaired under warranty unless you have paid extra for this kind of protection.
Search around and you can find an LCD to install yourself. This is one EXAMPLE (I don't know the provider and there are other places to buy them from, possibly for less money...)

Thanks for the info but I think the phone gods really like me or something cause the purple spot just disappered...how I have no idea and I don't care but it is awsome...G2 #1 lives on to see another day with me

Yeah, LCD's can be funny like that. Like touching a laptop screen gets you some funny colors. They are somewhat flexible, on a phone, the flexible lcd is somewhat protected by the inflexible digitizer.
Year at first I was very disappointed cause I had the spot there for about 30 mins the posted this thread, went to sleep and it was gone which made me happy...would have sucked ifap I did send it back cause I just put one of those stealth guards on my phone the full body cover one.

I think the best thing to do in this case is to brick the phone to the point it doesnt even turn on. Discreetely of course. I had major water damage on my TP2 with a custom rom before. But the fact that the phone didnt even start up and that I bleached the moisture indicators helped me get a warranty replacement.

You're late to the thread (and obviously didn't read it through). His problem was just temporary. Also, your solution is in extremely poor taste (both ethically and legally).
I sent my g1 in, with a crack all the way across the screen, discoloration everywhere, and lots of other scratches. (fell out of my pocket from a motorcycle) and they offered me the "upgrade" to the click at the time so i took it. I wasnt charged anything, and what they dont tell you is that if you are charged, its only gonna be 100 bucks, which is the same as what you'd pay with insurance.
Well with my g1 any problem I had with it I just sent it in for a replac ement and all it ever costed was $40 but I think that's cause the plan I have. But not sure about my g2 now cause I haven't had to send it in for a replacement yet "knock on wood" but I do wonder how much it will cost me to get a replacement.

It only cost you your soul for 3 years, which should be worth a whole hell of a lot more than a measly $100.

I knew that the OP's original problem did not apply anymore. The purpose of my reply was rather to share my experience with the others reading the post, ethics aside. As far as legality goes, you got me there now that I think about it, so I am forced to advise against doing this. Although in reality I hardly think it's any worse than not claiming the money earned from selling a phone, laptop etc., on your taxes.

That depends... how many phones and laptops are you selling? Your used stuff? Or are you in that business? You may be perfectly OK on that, consult an accountant for precise details.
I keep having an issue with my EVO with constant reboots. The reboots seem like it is the same scenario that everyone else has. Seems like heavy data usage, sometimes while charging, it just bootloops once or could be 20 times. I know I can unroot and take it to a Sprint Store and let them check it out. I am considerng just making a claim on my insurance and just pay the $100.00 deductable. I have never made a claim before. I was going to tell them it has water damage. What kind of run around do they give you? Any advice?
Well if sprint found out that phone was rooted you will have to pay those $100. So if am not wrong there is no need to lie if you already willing to pay those $100. If am wrong please correct me.
If you decide to claim it with Asurion they really don't ask any questions. When I made my claim I just told them "I messed it up somehow" and that was good enough. They don't give a crap.
I would unroot and bring it in to the sprint store first, it's worth a shot. If you can get out of having to drop $100 why not at least try?
File the claim online and there are no hassles.

Asurion doesn't care. They are insurance, that's what its for. It may be worth as the others have said, running the newest full update and taking it in to sprint.
I believe there is a way they can tell if it is water damage inside the phone. A while back when i had a razor phone with Assurion ins i was told that they didnt cover water damage. Dont know about now though?

Yes it is that little red and white sticker by the battery, just tell them you lost it down an ice fishing hole and pay the $100
Do you have to send them the damaged phone back to them? That is if I tell them it's broken and not lost.

If the phone isn't lost or stolen, you have to send it back to them. If its lost and you find it, you then are suppose to send it to them.

The only way I fixed my reboot problem was by getting a new EVO.
The EVO you wish you had
I went online after I came home from work and filed a claim. I told them it doesn't charge right, that it has bent pins in the port. I know it cost a hundred bucks but getting tired of the bootloops. Now I just have to root my new one when it gets here. I have downloaded the Unrevolked files and I still have the origional files that I rooted this one with. I believe it was the toast method. Thanks for the info guys...

I still dont understand why you wouldnt spend a half hour, unroot, and take it into a sprint store. The WORST case, they send you to asurion. The BEST case, you get a brand new phone for free. That's why your phone has a one year warranty, for issues like this...
When you get your replacement and send in your old one make sure you remove the battery and sd card. All they want back is the phone, keep all cables and batteries, etc.
So I notice the screen lifting up on the bottom left corner of my phone, and I can feel it moving around when I push on the corners. It's starting to concern me, and well... it shouldn't be happening; I don't appreciate paying for something that seems like it's going to fall apart.
Apparently this is a common problem... which is weird since people give Samsung so much crap.
Anyhoo... I'm past my 30 days (they ran out at the beginning of the month, new Sprint customer as of early Feb '11) what would happen if I took this back to Sprint's store? Would they just give me a new one, or make me go through HTC?
Hardware version 0003.
They should give you a refurb, as you still have warranty for 1 year for hardware defect just like that. Take it to the store-unrooted and all rooting files removed, and you should be fine.

Basically the only thing I'm concerned about is having to send my phone into HTC and having to wait to get one sent to me. You think they'll just switch it out in the store?

Yea, they should just switch it out in the store. or worst case if they don't have one in stock, they'd order a refurb and you'd have it in a day or two, but you won't need to send it to HTC.
Maybe I'll just deal with it.
The problem I have is... I wouldn't accept a refurbished phone. It's just a pet peeve... I paid for a new phone, I want a new phone. I don't like the idea of buying a new one that's defective somehow and getting given a refurbished phone as a replacement. It might not bother some, but I'm just anal like that.
Then again... I haven't talked to Sprint about it, so maybe they would give me a new one.
EDIT: I'll un-root and flash back to stock tomorrow then take it to Sprint on Monday and see what happens.
duplicate post, sorry

I've always had better luck with calling into sprint over the phone then dealing with the sprint store people
I got a HTC hero that was a referb, worried that the phone was trash I kept waiting for it to go bad. It never did, in fact I sold it on eBay some time later. Refurbs are hit and miss, you will know within a few days if its a keeper. If not raise hell and get another one!

My father-in-law recently bought an S3 and his screen cracked in the corner. He called it in and they said that they would replace it for him for $XX, and that he didn't need to send in the broke one. This is what he told me the insurance people said to him mind you, I've never heard of anything like that before but who knows. The phone still works perfectly but the cracked screen is an eye sore for such a great looking phone.
I want to see if he will sell me his screen cracked phone but that's only if I'm able to get it fixed. So........ [Q] Is there anywhere to send the phone in to get a new screen? And if so.... Does anyone know around how much it'll run?
I appreciate any legitimate info anyone can give me.
I know the iphone 4s the screens were $100 to get fixed. So at least twice that.

what they do is send you a replacement and in the same box you place your old one. if not they will give you information on what store or samsung place to go where they will fix it for you in about 15 min. like actually replace the screen only. since it is insured most of it will be covered except for about 100$ roughly.
Hi
I'm running an international unlocked M8. just got it from the service repair center for a battery-related repair. Immediately upgraded it to OTA Lollipop. The microphone isn't working. Google Now & Phone calls just pick up static. Speaker phone works fine. Tried cleaning the grill to no avail. Tried factory reset. Nothing.
Do you think this is related to Lollipop? Can I count on an update to follow to solve this? Because I would really hate to send it back to the service center.
Thanks :fingers-crossed:
I would recommend you to try install the previous version you got and if the problem still exists then sorry mate but you have to send it back.
I know it sucks! :/
I guess there's no way to avoid it. Phone's going back not even one day after I got it back I was hoping it was a widespread software issue that would get a speedy patch but seems like it's not. Thanks for the reply.

I'd not only send it back, but I would also let them know that you are angry about it. They obviously sent you something that was sent in to them and refurbished. Tell them you want a NEW phone.

And yes they did send me the same phone I sent to be repaired. It even has the decal I put on the back. And you can see a small indentation from where they opened it up, and the screen is veeeeeery slightly wobbly when I touch it in a corner.
They told me they don't do replacements unless it is wholly beyond repair. Usually the carrier does that but I got this off contract. Though I have heard informally after the third repair they will just send a new one.
I really admire you for your strength . And I would love for this to be a tale of righteous customer overcoming the evil customer support. In my experience the person behind the desk just doesn't care and will only take it out on you if you disrespect him. Whereas being cordial seems to garner astonishment "wow he actually treats me like I am human". I've tried being angry and I've tried being kind.
Thank you very much for your reply.
