Well I've searched a lot before writing this, but it seems I can't find anyone having this.
I face a bootloop when switching off the phone (keeps showing on and off SONY only, not XPERIA).
The only way I can get rid of this is power+volume up.
I'm on 4.4.4 (14.4.A.0.108), rooted with EasyRootTool and locked bootloader.
Already tried a full reinstall (system reset included) with no result.
I'm afraid I'll have to go to sony service...

Have you wiped everything, data, SD card etc, I can replicate this if I use a modified android.policy.jar with the wrong framework, but if it still does it after wiping everything then perhaps you will need a service centre.

Yes, I've wiped everything (also used the phone without SD).
May that be related to xposed framework?

Hi Guys,
I have CID__001 in the UK and received the JB update this morning - great, I've been waiting for it for months, that's why I didn't bother rooting my phone like i did with my desire.
So my phone boots up and EVERYTHING keeps crashing. com.android.phone, android.process.acore, gapps, htc sync etc. Constant error messages, so i can't get rid of them to do anything. The SIM card won't prepare, the home screens never load so I can't access my apps, the battery is draining like crazy, I can't sync my contacts because sync crashes, I called the phone from my landline, the landline phone rang, but the HOX didn't. I also can't access my files on the phone through the computer, the computer recognises it's there, but when i click on it it says 0 files. I don't have a backup, but if i have to lose them to get my phone working, so be it. It's completely messed up.
I have rebooted several times, also in safe mode, but it always happens. I also tried running the RUU because I now have HBOOT 1.36 but it told me it was the wrong RUU and wouldn't update.
I wanted to copy the update file onto the external storage and rename it update.zip so I could flash it from recovery, but i can't access the files through the phone or the computer so that was a bust.
I cleared the cache from the recovery menu, still no joy.
I haven't done a factory reset yet, because I don't want to lose everything and I don't think it would work if I get all the crashes in safe mode.
I need some help, I've got some experience rooting/flashing etc, I did it a lot on my desire, but I am stuck here. I'd like to be able to fix it myself, as all HTC will do is send me a refurbished phone, charge me for the pleasure and I'll lose my data anyway.
My bootloader is unlocked, but I never rooted or flashed anything on it, it was purely stock with an unlocked bootloader.
Any suggestions? I really don't know where to go from here. Typical that I didn't meddle with my phone so I could have the official update and it messes up my phone.
Have you got stock recovery or custom?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
stock
Could be you need a factory reset which is what i would do.
Yep, its gonna have to be a factory reset, if it still don't work contact HTC clearly a fault of theirs, cant see how unlocked bootloader can play a part..
Are you 100% its stock coz you can't clear cache from stock recovery... You need custom recovery.

Factory reset worked
Yes, my recovery is definitely stock. There aren't many options, but erase cache is one of them.
Factory reset worked. I have lost everything, had to reset from the fastboot screen (not sure what it's called) because it would not work from the phone settings - whatever was necessary to factory reset my phone kept crashing. Resetting from there also formatted my external storage, all my photos and music and everything are gone.
Really annoyed at HTC right now. I waited patiently for months, could have easily rooted and flashed a custom JB ROM but I waited and their update has caused me to lose everything.
Does anyone know why this would have happened or have heard of it happening to other people?
On the up-side...Jelly Bean is now rolling out in the UK!

probably there was a problem with some other apps on the phone, so maybie that wasn't htc fault. But wasn't mass storage working? If yes you could backup everything before doing factory reset.

My phone showed up under my computer, but when I tried to access it, it said 0 files...I tried. Failed, but tried.
Greetings,
I would have liked to post this questions, where it belongs to, but I'm new to this forum, so I put it here.
Last September I've updated my DHD following the instructions given in the thread mentioned in the headline and everything was fine. Yesterday in the evening, I got the notification to restart using the recovery mode, because something in the context of the superuser should be updated or modified. Because it was not the first time, I just did it. But this time, after rebooting, the device stopped with the HTC bootscreen (green HTC on white background).
After 10 minutes I took out the battery and restarted again. Again I was able to choose recovery mode, but while starting the DHD got stuck with the bootscreen. I decided to wait and just put it aside showing the boot screen, but the result this morning was that the battery is empty and nothing changed.
Does someone know about that issue and what do I need to do to get the device to work again? Why was this update needed in the first place?
Thanks a lot in advance...
im not sure why
but have you tried re-flashing the ROM?

Not yet. I was afraid to loose all data and maybe exchaning a file would also do the job. I mean, the update of the superuser component has changed something and this could be corrected again.
If you don't wipe your data partition (dirty flash) and you flash the exact same ROM, you shouldn't lose data.

try to back up your ROM
do a clean install..then restore only the data (advanced restore)..wipe dalvik and cashe
if it didnt boot..you can restore your data using titanium backup pro from the CWM back up

Tried to make a backup, but it recovering did not work. Doesn't matter. I just flashed the same image again, downloaded 'my' apps and restored the status from before the crash.
Nevertheless the same notification showed up, saying that the superuser kernel needs to be updated and I should use 'recovery mode' again. With a bad feeling, I did it again, but this time it works.
So to sum it up: device was useless for some days, restored it with some effort and now it works again. But I need to get prepared for the next time and to think of an app to backup all apps including app-data.
...but as always, this is a task for laaaaater
Thx,
Karl
I rooted my Sony Xperia S with .96 kernel (usually impossible to root) with a chinese software... it worked but it also installed a kind of trojan in my phone, which from time to time will install some useless softwares in my phone (and who knows what else will do)...i hard reset the phone with Sony PC Companion, then format the whole memory and hard reset again from the phone options, including internal memory deletion...but the day after, a new chinese app appeared in my phone, so, the virus survived... (i tried antiviruses but they havent found anything)
anyone able to help me?

Take backup of only required files(images, videos, songs) and format sdcard too. Don't take backup of any apps or even the backup of apps.
Be warned though, install ROM first before You format sdcard, You won't be install the ROM after doing it. You can also try to flash stock ftf and clearing everything.

Help ! I own an LG G3 and randomly had a problem with the stock messaging app as it was failing and crashing, so then I decided to reboot my phone but as it rebooted, it was still the same except it had a stock background, no knock code, and my home + recent apps buttons do not function at all but show touch feedback... also when I long press my recent apps button it brings up the settings tab which it should do, which is odd, also my return/back button still works fine. I switched my background to my original one and enabled knock code again, then tried rebooting, hot booting, and powering off and on the phone but nothing worked it even reset my background again to stock and disabled my knock code. I can answer any questions other questions, Any help would be appreciated, Thank You !
Edit: Notifications do not show and the stock camera shortcut ( Hold volume down ) stopped working.
I'd probably try a factory reset if you haven't already. Also list your current software version and carrier info., which might be helpful to us in helping you.

Be sure to backup your messages/address book, that problem sounds like an excellent candidate for a factory reset solution.

It's a Sprint phone, software version LS990ZV4
I was gonna use that as a last resort, but I'll give it a try. Guess I'll have to reroot my phone... Again

Well, if you are rooted, you might try going into your custom recovery and wiping cache and dalvik-cache.
Since you suspect the messaging app, maybe wipe the data for that one as well? You'd lose all your messages, of course.

I don't have a custom recovery, whoops. The messaging app was fixed after the first reboot, which is when my phone booted that all the other problems occurred. Thinking of just backing everything up and factory resetting, although I wonder if I back up my phone and reset it then load my back up would the problem persist ? as maybe it stems off the soft/firmware, feel like this is the problem since the buttons show touch feedback but do not work.

Glad you seem to have it resolved.
BTW, a couple of notes and suggestions on best practices:
1. If you root and intend in any way on using the elevated permissions to modify your system, you should install a custom recovery, such as TWRP. This will allow you to backup your entire system at any time and restore in the event of an oooops! event.
2. If/when you have a custom recovery:
NEVER accept an OTA (over the air) update. It will bork your phone.
NEVER perform a factory reset from a stock ROM. It will bork your phone.
Got a little too cocky with my limited knowledge of messing with androids, decided I wanted some nifty new locking sounds for my phone. Replaced the Lock and Unlock ogg files and wiped the dalvik, as the guide I was following said to do. It also said to fix permissions, but that was a vague statement and is most likely causing my problems. Anyway, now I can't download anything from the browser. I've tried stock/FF/Chrome/Dolphin and a few others, none work. I tried using the Download all files app and got a download failed (disk failure) error code. Not too worried if I have to factory reset, but wanted to try here to see if anyone could help before I nuke it.
Try flashing a stock rom from sammobile.com using Odin. After flashing, boot into recovery and wipe cache only, reboot, and see if the phone is back to normal. If not, a factory reset may be the only solution.

If all else fails, then STOCK ROM IS YOUR KEY TO PHONEAGE! Either go here and click on the most active post which will ultimately send you over to SamMobile. Just remember... be sure to flash the correct model number as stock firmware might damage the phone even more by being careless about choosing something which is not correct. Always check twice before getting your flash on!

I think there is an option actually called "fix permissions" in TWRP recovery under "Advanced"
Good luck!
If your phone is running a stock ROM, reflash the same ROM with Odin, wipe cache but not data and you should not lose anything.
