I have a triangle popping up in my status bar that I've been trying to identify. It only pops up sporadically and usually when I'm in a bad service area so I'm thinking roaming or something similar. I'm on Verizon, btw.
It means roaming

Is there any way I can get the notification bar to display the network service provider?
The area I work in has difficult coverage, but T-Mobile switch over to Orange if there is no signal.
I would like to know when I'm on Orange without having to dial out.
Cheers
Paul
App or a mod for that. Why would you want to know. It tells you in the lockscreen anyway.
I've normally got it on the dashboard, for sat nav use.
Knowing which provider I'm with at that precise moment would save wasted time & data - better to move to somewhere with my home provider signal, rather than try a connection that isn't up to it.
switch to a custom rooted ROM
Guys im kinda worried here , i just got my Gnex from Negri and i slided my Fido sim(Canadian provider ) and on my roaming status it says Roaming (but my signal bar doesnt show the roaming sign) but im very sure I have signal (obviously) in my area , so i dont know why its saying this and im afraid to make calls incase Fido actually charges me for roaming. It also recognizes im on Fido. so whats the deal here?
Also i tested this out on my Nexus One and on its roaming status it says "not roaming" .... f*** i hope i dont have to return this
Can anybody on fido attest to this?
EDIT: k another thing i just found out , when I turn wifi on my signal bar turns blue and doesnt show the R . but when i turn wifi off it shows the R and a grey signal bar...what the freakk
Anyone else having this? The only icons I have in my status bar on the right are:
WiFi
Battery
Battery percentage
If I turn off WiFi, I only have battery and battery percentage.
Is this an Android 10 thing? My wife has the exact same device, same carrier, just a bigger storage, yet her Pixel 2 XL has the signal bars in the status bar.

Have you confirmed that LTE is on? My phone shows a triangle with bars; if I turn off wifi and I have an LTE signal, it also shows lte.

Might wanna hide that phone number my friend
You can try getting a "network switcher" that does 4G & 3G and goes into the "secret" network settings, and toggle between "CDMA auto (PRL)", and then back to "LTE/CMDA/UMTS auto (PRL)".
I do this all the time to force 3G and then to re-enable 4G/LTE...Hope this helps...
I've seen screen shot where people seem to have this.. but I just got my OP7T (used the OP migration too to move from OP6), and I do not have any "bars" in my status bar to indicate cell signal strength.
Tmobile, USA.
I *can* add the upload/download speed to the status bar... but again, normally you have the 1-5 bars of cell reception strength.
I can't find anything wiich clearly says there were purposely removed.
I'm on build 10.0.7.HD65AA
thanks!
Mike
EDIT: I can add my own bars thru an app like LTE Discovery.. but again, I thought this was part of the stock OS?
EDIT2: ok, solved.. Status bar.. Icon manager... Cellular data.
I don't care very much for the mobile data connection type in the status bar, specifically the up/down indicators. I like Google Pixel where the mobile data connection type is merged with the signal bar indicator.
Anyway to get this same look? I tried QuickStar but it just hides the icons.
