Sounds like it died some how. Get a warranty replacement. If it is fully dead with no physical damage they should replace it no questions asked.
Might want to check the voltage off your charger, or just go ahead and get a new charger for it also. A bad htc charger killed one of mine.

Hi i recently had my desire repaired by HTC, i had the rebooting issue and they replaced the motherboard everything was working fine for two weeks then last night while browsing the internet the phone froze, None of the buttons would work couldnt power off i had to remove the battery, now it wont switch on at all at first i thought it was a dead battery but i have tried another battery and it still wont start.
I plugged my charger in and the orange led came up but as soon as i press the power button it goes off i left it charging overnight and now the led light is green but it still wont turn on.
I havent rooted it and it came back from HTC with the latest firmware installed
As its compleyely syock, Id send it back to htc again and give them hell.

Hello.
I have a SLCD PVT3 HTC Desire
S-OFF, HBOOT 0.93 Data++, InsertCoin 1.08 stable, 32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.23 radio
I was shooting a video with my phone, battery was about 40% when I started, I recorded maybe 5minutes. Then suddenly phone shutdown, I try to reboot, it won't so I suspect it just ran out of battery.
I put it on charger, orange led lights up and I go for a cigarette. Come back 10minutes after and I try to power on, it won't, orange led disappears and nothing happens.
I remove battery, try to boot=no work.
I remove battery, plug in ac charger, phone flashes green and orange led one after another and when I try to power on it won't.
I remove the charger cord and put battery back, try to power it, no work.
I plug in charger cord, orange led comes, I try to power it on, led disappears and phone will not boot.
Then I take charger cord off and remove battery and put battery back, and charger cord back, orange led comes.
I leave it there since it looks like it's charging, an hour or 1½ I come back and there is green led and I try to power on but to no avail.
vol down+power and back+power doesn't work.
So I can't get to fastboot/bootloader/recovery/or boot the phone.
And it doesn't even vibrate when I try to power it.
Is it totally dead?? Help?
Warranty still in place?

Have you check the battery? the desire does not power up when there is no battery even when on plugged into AC. so it is possible for a faulty battery could make the phone not turn on and not charge.
Yeah, I do have warranty on this thing.
Since the phone won't even power up, is there a way the repair place is gonna find out that the phone is s-off, rooted and has custom rom on it and custom splash screen?
If I could even get the phone to fastboot I could undo all of that but blargh not even that.
Do you really think it would be the battery fault? :S
I don't have a spare battery so I can't try that.
When I connect the charger to the phone while the battery is in, the orange light comes up so it should be charging it.
I don't even have a multimeter to try and see if the battery is dead.
it is possibility that it could be the battery..or maybe even the charging circuitry on the phone. there is no way to say for sure. I am only offering a suggestion.
since you can't even get into the recovery or bootloader. this does not sound like a software issue

Only way is if your friend has desire, or you can buy my new battery, charged only once! Ha
But they probably won't even try and boot it and will probably change it.

Almost exact same thing happened to me. Desire died for no reason, and it was not the battery. HTC have no way of telling if your phone's rooted if it's dead (or I don't think so anyway), I just sent it off and they repaired it for me under warranty Good luck.
Okay, thanks for your input guys!
I'll be sending it to warranty on wednesday.
Hi all,
I have exactly the similar problem with my HTC Desire.
I do not think so it is a battery problem because when it died it has been already full powered 2 hours ago.
How long would it take to get your phone back from warranty?
Thanks and regards.

Completely forgot about this thread.
SCF Repair fixed my phone under warranty.
Yet again they replaced the mobo
I got the phone back sometime around august 25 or something like that.
Came back as PVT4
Also, after I had it for exactly 2weeks, put it in my pocket accidentally wrong way aka screen not against my thigh->boom slcd broken against table corner..
Shhhhhhhh.. argh.
Sat like 1hr on my ass cursing in my mind and occasionally aloud.
After that, I pulled it together D), inspected the damage and only slcd was broken the digitiser for some miracle was undamaged (huh?) ordered new slcd from uk-hitech, it arrived couple days ago.
Was about to start disassembling it, was staring at the void stickers for few seconds-> bah screw it and screeech scraped them off and continued. Took around 1hr10mins.
And as you can see:

Hi i have the same problem, i was listening to music when suddenly the phone froze i gave it a minuet to settle but no response, so i pulled the battery and pressed power and it turned on. it got stuck on the htc screen and was stuck their for good 5 minuets, so i pulled the battery again(intending to hard reset from clock work) but this time the phone does not power on at all! only orange led comes when i plug the phone on charge if i press power button the led goes off but the phone does not seem to come on at all. this happened to me when i was abroad few weeks ago, the odd thing was when it happened first time around i left it for like an hour and it turned on like nothing ever happened and worked since untill today. its been good 4 hours since it died =[. its still under warranty but its been s-off will HTC still repair it? did you find out what they repaired on your one ? incase HTC dont repair i can get third party store to repair it but id like to know what the cause is? and by the way the mother board was replaced by HTC before(it died after 2 days when i first bought it, this is the second mother board)
My HTC One X isn't charging, the red flashing light flashes red and green when i plug it in and continues to do that. Can anyone help me?
try volume and power and see if it resets it,
if not then you have a faulty battery or connection or something, return and replace

Mine just did that then. I have been using it while charging though and it's gotten quite hot. I suspect it's an overheating warning for me at least.

Same for me! Is there a way so it actually charges

I've only gotten it to do it once. Was using the phone quite heavily. Perhaps more moderate use would not make it overheat during charge at least.
Mines charging fine now that I'm not hammering it..
The only way is to wait until it cool down, or use it on a cool room

Seriously? Is this supposed to be constructive?
Help a guy out, say you have the same issues or feel for the guy.
But what do yo mean with volume and power?
Do you mean go into recovery and delete batterystats?
I am probably gonna return my HOX.
I also have major screen flickering issues.
HTC have also said that there have been manufacturing faults
It's an HTC overheat warning - holding the power button whilst plugged in & selecting reboot should stop the flashing lights, then allow it to cool down for just a few minutes.
I've seen this, only when doing multiple benching.

Since you said that the phone meet the floor I can guess that may be a hardware fault. If with the phone off you connect to the charger an no reacction, you only can chek for another charger. Its OK if you use almost any usb charger, but the minimal power of the charger (see the label on the charger) need to be 750 mah, and the recommended is 1 A. (always at 5v). I use a asus nexus 7 charger witch is 2A, so I can handle charge and power consumption. Anyway. If your phone is not charging and you tried at least 3 chargers and 2 cables its time to open the phone. There is a guide on youtube (sorry I cant search for it right now), that show you how to open the HTC One X, so you can check the battery connection to the phone. Trty to disconnect and connect it again, and without reassemble the phone connect carefully to the charger and see what happen. If not charging and assuming that you dont have where to carry the phone, I would try to charge the battery pack outside the phone (3.7v Li battery charger) and then put it again on the phone and see what happen. I'm like 70/30 % that is the connector (30% that some on the mainboard broken)
Hope I help you
Since long time I had a problem with charging. I had it on charger and didn't charge. It said that I use more power than charger can give me. It was the same when the fine was off some times. It looks like charging but after some hours power was complete down. Be four some days it switched of batter and never opened again. Neither charging. I tried before some months and changed the battery but still had the problems. I tried yesterday to change again the battery and put the old one that had some power to take my files from mobile. I tried to put it to charger and the light goes green and red and don't charging. The fine has no power no and it's close again
Hi guys i badly need your help. My phone died on me two days ago. I was just charging and it was 32% when i tried to download something from google playstore it hung up and i restarted it but it will only boot up to the HTC logo alone. Then i tried to boot it to bootloader, it did boot, and i wanted to boot into recovery mode. When i entered recovery mode. It shut down and the phone was so hot and some sound was whirling up inside. It was about 5 mins. After it cooled down the sound went off. But i cannot turn it on anymore. I did everything soft hard resets and also thr battery reset troubleshooting power volume up and down at the same time for two to three minutes.
Can anybody help me whats wrong? Led light wont turn on also when charger is plugged in.

Hey guys,
I was setting up a sound system with large speakers and microphone, amps, the works, earlier today. I attempted to test it by playing some music from my HTC phone, and it worked for a while, and then my phone suddenly shut off, never to revive again. I've tried every combination of pressing buttons, for every reasonably possible length of time and nothing works. My phone is effectively dead, and can't be switched to recovery, download or bootloader mode. It doesn't even turn on. Pressing the power button for a while makes the vibration motor buzz weakly and the capacitive buttons light up weakly, then the whole thing dies again. My phone's charging LED works when it is plugged in to AC power.
How do I fix this? Or is my phone as good as dead, and I need a replacement?
Phantom power killed it perhaps?
If it's the case it's probably dead
