Hi guys i badly need your help. My phone died on me two days ago. I was just charging and it was 32% when i tried to download something from google playstore it hung up and i restarted it but it will only boot up to the HTC logo alone. Then i tried to boot it to bootloader, it did boot, and i wanted to boot into recovery mode. When i entered recovery mode. It shut down and the phone was so hot and some sound was whirling up inside. It was about 5 mins. After it cooled down the sound went off. But i cannot turn it on anymore. I did everything soft hard resets and also thr battery reset troubleshooting power volume up and down at the same time for two to three minutes.
Can anybody help me whats wrong? Led light wont turn on also when charger is plugged in.

any way to charge a phone once completely dead
as the title states, once in the bootloop issue if your battery ends up at 0% and can't be charged is there a way out of this. Here is my issue. I can't get into recovery. Hboot or fastboot are the only options available. Sometimes it boots into the ROM but instantly dies once restarting. No clue as to the trigger as I've tried pretty much all the combinations of factory reset, reboot-bootloader, erase cache etc etc etc trying to get this into a non on mode so it can charge.
In addition to this of course anytime I plug the phone in it automatically turns on in either bootloader or fastboot which gives it no opportunity to charge at all otherwise I would simply run the RUU which won't let me until it hits 30%. I've more or less come to the conclusion I have to send it in because its not quite the same situation that others have experienced. But was hoping to get an answer/fix so I don't have to send it in to HTC to get repaired since the RMA guys just told me it'll be 10 business days before they even get in parts to the texas facility to get it sent there for repairs.
also of note, I had managed to relock the bootloader but can't get enough juice to run the RUU
What about borrowing a battery or getting one and charging it. That would be better than sending it in.

if only it were that simple, the one x doesn't have a removable battery or I would have solved this by now
Forgot about that, sorry about that.

With the current recovery. The phone can't charge while off. You can't let it die
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
yeah so far I've tried literally everything out there. I almost need a way to figure out how to wipe the rom so it can't restart and sit on the loading screen so it can charge, but so far no luck with anything in the forum. I've literally tried it all.
Could be worse, my replacement comes today (but cost the same sadly, looks like the gf will get a new one when I can send it out to htc for repairs and get it back)
So, when you plug the charger in, the phone starts up into hboot or something? And can you not press and hold power for 10 secs to force it to power off while still plugged in? My phone was charging while it was completely off. That's after I discharged it completely, it shut itself off.
any time I plug it in it automatically turns back on. If I hold down the power button for 10 seconds it simply reboots.

By either plugging in every time it stops charging or rebooting it like that you should be able to gradually charge it over 30%, that's what I heard. So it's not as easy as plug in and wait, but rather plug in, unplug, plug back in.
I have this same issue. Arent their any recoveries that charge while in recovery mode??
Yes.. The stock recovery. You need to flash that.
again, can't flash diddly because of low battery. So flashing stock recovery does nothing as it would end in an error.
Very possible solution! Worked for me!
It seems my reply via the XDA-App did not come through.. As I wanted to reply.
My H0X was also dead. Wouldn't charge nor boot, with wall charger or by pc.. but I thought.. well let's give it a chance by using my iPhone 4 charger (with HTC cable of course)
Guess what: It worked!
SO TO ALL WHO IS HAVING THIS 'WILL NOT CHARGE' PROBLEM:
Try an other charger, even try your wireless mouse, or other phone chargers.. Anything!

you don't think something silly like this idea has been done? When the phone is plugged into any outside source of charge, it turns on in bootloader. This does not charge it...
Get into fastboot and try charge ..same happened to me when I tried to install Mike's Rom. So what I ended up doing was after trying a millions things to get a little charge so I could flash stock recovery and relock bootloader. I turn phone off. Plug charge for 2 seconds unplug. Plug again unplug. Big pain in the ass. Don't let charger to long cause it boots phone againg. So usually u see led turn on then few seconds later it goes off that's when u have to unplug charger. Do that again a few times. Enough to get a little charge again to flash stock recover. Once u flash stock recover phone charges normally. You also need the correct RUU for ur phone. That's after flashing stock recovery then relock bootloader then flash ruu. Then u can try again a custom Rom or whatever u were doing

get into the bootloader and flash back the official recovery
I have bought a htc one X a day ago, which was imported from some eastern country. The phone ran well for an hour or something.. and after that, it just dropped dead. The battery was about 60% when it dropped dead. And when I charge, the red light keeps on blinking. It won't turn on, or the red light will not be stable.
When i try to boot into bootloader, the phone does go into bootlader. But I have to keep my charging plug on. If i remove even for a second. the phones switches off again.
I can't go to warranty as this is a replacement. Some guidence will be appreciated. Thank you.

1. Charge the device for at least 10 minutes
2. With the device truly OFF (NOT ON STANDBY) , push in and hold volume up and volume down AND power button And HOLD for 2 minutes and let go once 2 Minutes has passed.
Doing this will calibrate the Circuit within the battery charging system.

If the phone doesn't power on & If the red led doesn't turn on while charging your phone then you should take it to service centre.. Might be a problem in battery or the motherboard
There is a batch file running about that helps charge from boot loader.
On phone so can't find it currently.

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? I'm currently in this situation myself. I read the thread suggested here, but it helps very little if you can't even get to fastboot. For what it's worth, I do have a custom recovery, but a stock image. And the mother board is okay - I've swapped in a different battery and that seems to work, but I do want to get my original battery to work...
guys i have a solution i guess .. put your phone connected to laptop or computer for several minutes dont remove . it might take sometime and afterwards you will listen the usb connecting voice and the blinking will stop and will be stable and then you can turn on the mobile
If you have a flashing power light
This is when your device has overheated and wont let you start up your OS.
Plug your phone in for afew minutes then hold down the power, volume up and down buttons at the same time untill a white developers screen comes up, disconnected your device from cable and click on recover and leave for a minute then plug you power lead back in and leave again. When you come back to you phone it the LED should be a solid color and you can then boot your device.
Any problems Message me, any time.
Thanks

And then?
After doing reset\calibration of battery circuit we put phone on the wall charger and wait until green LED.
Right?
Edit: wrong section, sorry
In most cases, must to change the cable or adapter, or both. I had the same problem twice.
I am having big problems with my HTC One X..it all started when I updated my phone to jellybean..I normally put my phone to charge when the battery is about on 20%..I put my phone on charging and give it atleast 2,3 continuous hours to charge itself..now when I disconnect it from charging, it shows the battery still at 20%..I discussed this problem once before on this page and someone suggested me to do a soft restart by holding down the power button for about 5 seconds..I do that and then my phone restarts and shows the correct level of battery at 80% or more..this problem has been continuously happening to me from some time now and I have made a habit of myself to charge my phone for 3 hours and then perform a soft restart in order to see the correct battery level..Today I have charged my phone for 4 hours and have performed soft restarts on my device as well but it showed my batter level still at yellow and while on charging, I unlocked the screen and a message came up "your phone is using more current than your charger is able to deliver. Please turn off the unused applications or power off your phone during charging". I opened task manager, closed all applications and put it on charge again but again I got the same message so I turned off my phone and let it charge for 2 hours..then when I started my set, it showed the battery level at 3% and then restarted unexpectedly..since then I have been trying to restart my phone but it is not even starting itself and shuts down after showing the white HTC logo screen.. anybody explain my problems with HTC One X and I hope somebody can help me..Please tell me what to do..I am not sure whether this started happening after I updated to 4.2.2 sense5 or is there some problem with my charger..I do use original charger and USB cable so I am not sure what the problem is here..please help My phone CID: HTC_Y13
Maybe you messed up your charging cable or smithing idk never happens to me......O the problem is... ITS A HTC ONE lol.

Hi,
I tried to search the forum but couldn't get mine working.
I got HTC One M8 partially dead from my friend, so that I can check it. TWRP recovery is installed. HTC Boot logo show " This build is for development purpose only..."
Now I have three different genuine chargers with me. One from HTC One M8, another from HTC ONE Max and third is from HTC Evo 3D. If I plug the charger in computer to get it detected and then try some adb cmd on it. It will just keep restarting after showing first boot logo. Then when I put it to its own wall charger it get on and the TWRP recovery screen appears for 1 sec and then the battery information that it is charging. few seconds later TWRP recovery screen just appear again for 1 sec and goes away while the phone is yet charging.
The battery charging information shows that is phone is charging up and the LED is stable. I let it charge over night and was 100% in the morning. As soon as I removed the wall charger. The phone went off. I tried to power it on but it didn't. I put the phone again to charge with wall charger but it again started from 1%. The phone goes off as soon as I remove it from wall charger and then start charging again from 1% if I put it back.
It is not water damaged, neither it has been hit hard, nor dissembled.
What I have tried it to get into hboot by holding POWER+Vol Down. Also Tried POWER+Vol up for 10-20 sec. I also tried to go through Battery calibration by holding VOL Down+VOL UP and Power for 2min+. Phone doesn't show any life if I try it on battery, not even vibration. Only on wall charger it start doing it regular procedure as said above.
Now the question is if it charging the Battery at all? Because I don't feel the phone heating up a bit while charging. Or is it some other problem?!
Thanks
Any help?

Hello!
Yesterday my note 2 froze during youtube video playback but sound kept on going. I held down power button key for approximately 10 seconds until it powered down. I've tried to power it up again but it did not. I've connected it to the charger and nothing happens, not even red light lights up to show that it is charging. I've tried to boot it into download mode but nothing happens. I am running TWRP, agni kernel and eclipse rom. Is there something I can do ? Thanks in advance.

Your battery could be dead, or better your charger. Try using your friend's charger.

Hey! Thanks for the reply. I' ve tried different charger and battery. Still no sign of life. I guess that's it. Phone is dead.
it happened to me in exactly same way I was scrolling through facebook and it froze, I remember about three years ago there was a service called j-tag in uk and they were fixing this but they don't do it anymore for note 2, is there anyone on this forum who knows where this can be done ?
