Hi
May be its not the best place to post this question but I will try it any way
I'm looking for a solution to manage and restrict centrally the attachment from the Exchange Server, a way to enforce a policy which restrict the sync of an attachment or even allowing just syncing the calender and preventing syncing the inbox
do any one have a solution or a name of a product?
10x
I will be amazed if there's a third party product/app that does this. I would just play with the Exchange Server settings and see if you select which folders can be synced?
How about just downloading the first 10k of the messages??
My emails dont arrive with attachments unless i tap the attachment, which then makes the device download it.
the main problem is that a corporate may allow to expose its business assets through the use of PDA's. restricting the sync of attachment in the mail, contact , task or calender may allow a safer use of the push mail. today i have seen that many corporate disallow the use of PDA's because of this.
I haven't seen a solution for this issue except encrypting the PIM which holds the data, but this solution have its own disadvantage.
Did any one tried parsing the HTTP communication and block some request without impacting the sync process ?, something like a reverse proxy
Hi,
My touch is used for work.
Everytime I do an upgrade that requires a hard reset, I have to wait until our IT person comes to the office once a week to get my emails setup again.
They will not give me the password as it's the exchange server password I guess.
Anyway to do a backup that will keep the setup/password for after I do the update so I don't have to wait until the guy is in the office?
Thanks.

Hmm. I have an exchange server at my home (I'm an MCSE/MCT). I don't have this problem.
I don't understand why he won't give you the password. That password should be unique to you. Personally, I don't know any of my client's passwords and I don't want to. Any administrator who knows their client's passwords has set themselves up for a legal mess.
Anyways. Are you connecting through a VPN?
Hi,
I don't understand this either to be honest but I'm not an expert with exchange (I know nothing about it to be honest).
He needed my password as well so I'm not sure what other password he is on about.
We use VPN but I don't know how this works with windows mobile devices.
Thanks.
LIP
There is not a server specific password with exchange, unless for some reason he has isolated exchange on it's own AD Structure and manually creates usersnames in that domain for your email. I've seen IT guys do weird things, so I never put anything to chance.
Here is something you can do before an upgrade.
Go into activesync, then menu->configure server.
Write down all the options and configured settings.
And pay close attention to the username\domain field in the second screen. If that is the same as what you sign in with at work, then there is not another password.
The only problem I see you running into if it is the same password you normally use, is maybe he did not use a trusted CA for the server's certificate.
If that is the case, you will get the yellow exclamation error saying there is a problem with the server's certificate.
Easy fix for that, go to the server's address on your laptop/desktop, and save the certificate to a file. Then import it on your phone and you should be good to go.
Now in regards to the VPN... You normally do not see a vpn in use unless they allow you to access the resources on the domain from your phone. (Sharepoint, and exch2007 shared folder access for example)
If they are, you would have some additional vpn software installed or are using the built in vpn configuration.
That would be under Start->Settings->Connections. Under "My Work Network" tap "Manage existing connections". At the bottom, tap VPN.
If you see something in here you are using a vpn. If you don't, you probably are not, unless you see some vpn client installed in your programs.
Hope this gives you enough info to give it a try yourself after the next upgrade.
Good luck, and best wishes.
Hi all,
i just released a free version of dyndns client for windows mobile at my site
remorftpmobile dot wordpress dot com
Finally... I've been desperate to find a dyndns client for winmo.
Unfortunately your client does not seem to work on my blackstone/touch hd
After initial installation it updated the test account but after putting my account details the text in the main window just keeps flickering and reads....
Found IP: x.x.x.x
Contacting DynDNS Server....
Also, the on screen keyboard doesnt activate when any of the text fields get focus and IMO, the password field should be starred out.
IF there is anything I can do to help resolve the issue then I'm more than happy to do so, I really am quite desperate for a dyndns client and have had no luck so far. There's definitely a donation in it for you if you can get it running well on my HD (Well, HD2 later today yay!)
After watching that flickering text for a while, it looks like it's trying but to connect to dyndns api but getting connection refused.
Edit: Got it updating by increasing the update interval, next problem though It must be updating with the internal interface address as it's updating with an RFC1918 address in 10.0.0.0/
Hello,
Well, I think I should start with the basics. I Have a Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2, with WM 6.5 and a few tweaks and add ons but still with the default ROM. I could update but simply have not really had the courage to test the idea of updating the rom with one of the many possibilities out there.
Now, I also have my own domain names, one of which is my contact email for xda-developers.com. Of the two domains, we'll simply call them Domain1 and Domain2, Domain1 expired on Feb 11, due to a delay in funds to renew my registration. Given the economy i don't believe anyone should be surprised, however I have quite a few email addresses attached to this domain and thus planned and did renew my registration. For about two weeks the domain was non functioning, as Network Solutions re-routed the DNS to point to their internal "Domain Expired" page, as opposed to my actual web hosting service. This is not new, I've dealt with it before. Now, early Thursday morning, I made a payment to renew the registration. By this morning, My home PC using Thunderbird & Firefox was able to receive emails from all addresses associated with Domain1.com, and I was able to browse to this Domain for the website.
However, currently my HTC TP2, which is configured to manage all of my emails for this domain, cannot communicate with the server, and Opera still redirects me to the Network Solutions "Domain Expired" page. I believe this is due to some "DNS Cache" that still remembers the redirect DNS for Domain1.com as opposed to the actual DNS for the domain as it should be. However, I cannot simple go to a windows command prompt and clear the DNS cache as I can on XP. So, any suggestions on how to tell my phone to re-lookup the DNS address for the Domain1.com emails and website would be GREATLY appreciated. I mean, this should be a part of the INternet and if my home Desktop was able to browse to my website after i've renewed the domain registration, my phone's browser should do the same.
Thanks for the help,

I'm trying to use my phones wifi hotspot for my computer, but I can't get into sites like gmail!
Code:
You attempted to reach gmail.com, but the server presented a certificate that is not yet valid. No information is available to indicate whether that certificate can be trusted. Google Chrome cannot reliably guarantee that you are communicating with gmail.com and not an attacker. Your computer's clock is currently set to Tuesday, January 1, 2002 12:27:12 AM. Does that look right? If not, you should correct any error the refresh this page.
You cannot proceed because the website operator has requested heightened security for this domain.
Same thing for facebook but it lets me proceed. I assume I'm just a stupid user that has a high security setting that doesn't know where to change it. Using AOKP build 39 6/23-03 build.
Looks like any HTTPS site I cannot connect to but any http site I can. Weird. Actually, I can get to google just fine... And that is https. But it would not let me into the google play store site without adding exceptions.
