I installed the update Monday, cleared cache and ran it all day Tuesday. So far it seems to be better on battery life.

Just a quick FYI guys. If you own an Optus branded HOX you can download 1.29.980.11 ota.
I can't really comment on any fixes yet as my only problem has been WiFi honestly. Will report back once I've used WiFi a little.

Vf aus update to 1.29.xxx.11 has landed too, finally!

Wow finally. My battery is too low to install :/ will have to wait. I hope it fixes the WiFi issue and the buggy camera.

Been playin with my HOX all night and the WiFi seems a little better, but there's definitely still a problem there. Let's hope next update will fix it for good.

What wifi issue? mine is fine on both 1.28 and just updated 1.29 optus. The x takes better photos with the 1.29 update what i can tell.
WiFi issues are hardware related. No update will fix sorry. I had WiFi issues and swapped phone. Not a single WiFi issue now...

Anyone received 4.0.4 update for Optus HOX?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I'm with Virgin here in Australia and recently, i mailed them and asked about their plans to update our phones to Android 4.0.4 with Sense 4.1. Their reply strongly gave me the impression that they didn't even know of an existing update or even what the term "base" means. It makes me glad that i unlocked my bootloader and rooted my phone so that i wouldn't have to wait for their slow service to catch up.
I'm with virgin but my cid is Optus.
You might have the same meaning Optus will be pushing it.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
So have you heard when they are pushing the update?
No mate. Early September on their site but who knows? I don't even care as 1.29 is running well for me.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Any news on the update for optus? Vodafone already phone don't know when optus is going to do it............
Status.. Optus approved 4.0.4.
Awaiting manufacturer deployment.

Hello everyone,
I had a HOX one month ago and everything was ok, no defects at all, the only issue I had is that my device was getting too hot,
it was so annoting, it gets hot over simple tasks, like using facebook app, or whatsapp, so is there any solution for this issue??
I've had mine for more than an month now and it has never been even slightly warm, even while charging...
Might be something wrong with your phone?

Can you please give more info. Like custom rom or stock.
Rooted/"unrooted"
Which rom
Which kernel
Anything else that might be useful. Anyway I had a similar problem, so might be able to help, but remember the more info the better. Its pretty hard to say by just reading the OP.

It's normal that these phones get hot.
They have a lot of power
It's the same with cars. The bigger the engine the more heat gets produced.

Then the best advice I can give you is to lower screen brightness, and have a look at the power option in settings and see what is the power hog.

Once mine got really hot while using FB, too.
But only once, normally not
Maybe it did a heavy task in the background

I guess there is something wrong with the FB app, because i had the same issue while using it.
Today my phone got overheated and the led start blinking as crazy for less than 10 min on FB app, and phone was almost untouchable.
Never been so hot even playing tegra3 game

Kernel is most responsible for the heat. I suggest to change that first. You might want to go for any ROM with base 2.05.x and the stock kernel for that. Those roms include Arhd(7.2), Viper and Maximus by football
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Install faux kernel, and undervolt your CPU.
The problem remain but very very lower.
Your battery will last longer.

what is the best rom for the hox?
different people prefer different roms... i think roms like arhd, cm9 and etc are like comparing a lambo and a ferrari.. most roms are pretty good compared with stock... its more of what u need it for... if u take the lambo maybe it has greater top speeds but suck at cornering and vice versa... hehe... anyway my advice is as long as it is not stock you will definitely feel the difference...

I recall it stating that it needs two days to properly monitor your usage before it actually kicks in and does its thing.

Does anybody else have an issue with their m8 where on occasion it gets stuck showing its charging after unplugging? It doesn't happen all the time , and a reboot fixes it, but I'm planning to send mine in. Just curious if mine is buggy or if it's a known issue. Happened when I originally purchased and continued after rooting/romming as well.

I never charge with my phone off so only with it on. Since a reboot fixes it I can't imagine it would mess up with it off though. I'll try it a couple of times just to see, I'm curious now

and see if that helps. Sounds more software related.

Wake Lock Detector.. but it needs root access.
Never tried WLD, but hear of it being used more and more. I've always used Better Battery Stats. I imagine either one will work just fine.
Batteries do go bad though. So if it's been in use for over a year, might be time to look into a replacement.
