Overheating Problem - HTC One X

Hello everyone,
I had a HOX one month ago and everything was ok, no defects at all, the only issue I had is that my device was getting too hot,
it was so annoting, it gets hot over simple tasks, like using facebook app, or whatsapp, so is there any solution for this issue??

I've had mine for more than an month now and it has never been even slightly warm, even while charging...
Might be something wrong with your phone?

Can you please give more info. Like custom rom or stock.
Rooted/"unrooted"
Which rom
Which kernel
Anything else that might be useful. Anyway I had a similar problem, so might be able to help, but remember the more info the better. Its pretty hard to say by just reading the OP.

It's normal that these phones get hot.
They have a lot of power
It's the same with cars. The bigger the engine the more heat gets produced.

Yes, but not with something like fb. Maybe with intensive gaming.

Then the best advice I can give you is to lower screen brightness, and have a look at the power option in settings and see what is the power hog.

Once mine got really hot while using FB, too.
But only once, normally not
Maybe it did a heavy task in the background

I guess there is something wrong with the FB app, because i had the same issue while using it.
Today my phone got overheated and the led start blinking as crazy for less than 10 min on FB app, and phone was almost untouchable.
Never been so hot even playing tegra3 game

Kernel is most responsible for the heat. I suggest to change that first. You might want to go for any ROM with base 2.05.x and the stock kernel for that. Those roms include Arhd(7.2), Viper and Maximus by football

Install faux kernel, and undervolt your CPU.
The problem remain but very very lower.
Your battery will last longer.

what is the best rom for the hox?

different people prefer different roms... i think roms like arhd, cm9 and etc are like comparing a lambo and a ferrari.. most roms are pretty good compared with stock... its more of what u need it for... if u take the lambo maybe it has greater top speeds but suck at cornering and vice versa... hehe... anyway my advice is as long as it is not stock you will definitely feel the difference...

Yeah, don't worry about it. Sense doesn't like it going above 45° but it often does, especially when playing games.
If you are worried about the temperature and your device is rooted you can try using my application CoreControl to disable some of the processors cores. This can help reduce the temperature quite dramatically http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652136

Screen issue need advice plz

Sup guys/gals, this is my first issue with hardware or build quality today I noticed my screen rocks side to side mainly when pressing the top 2 corners of the device I just updated arhd 9.4.0 with st and noticed a price drop on mc3 so I played that for 30min the device become extremely hot then I noticed the screen issue. I would like to hear if you've had this issue and how you got it fixed was it covered under warranty even with bootloader relocked? btw I'm on three UK

That is clearly a hardware / manufacturing defect, so they will most probably fix it despite the unlocked bootloader. But like the poster above me said, relock the bootloader and flash the correct RUU before taking it back.
Lol definitely shouldn't move I think gameloft killed my screen as I've never noticed any problem before I'm more worried about three saying I must cover the costs as they've tried several times with my n96, n97, x10i but I stood my ground and got all of these phones for free in one contract at no extra cost I'm guessing it wont be as smooth when they see bootloader relocked

Yes I had asked this question in the past and the random selections do occur to many people.
Also, I want all of you to test this, if you run your finger along the chin of one v while its charging, (and you're not wearing any rubber paddings on your foot), can you feel a mild electric current? It goes away when not on charge.

How to efficiently use/improve battery life of my HTC One X?

Please suggest any ideas in simple words. I am a new member here and to such techinical words, plz explain in simple words.
Even after using easy battery saver and easy task killer with screen brightness at the minimum, I still face this problem with battery life.
Thank you.

Uninstall both. They don't help. Adjust you brightness manually. Use wifi instead of 3g.

Is your phone unlocked and rooted? If so use a custom kernel. I get 4.5 hours of screen on time even with an AOSP Rom.

No, not rooted. If it is done, then warranty won't be applicable?

Only if the software caused hardware damage and the seller has to prove it. Had to send in my phone a few times and never had any problems

Also depends on how the law is applied in your own respective countries. Like in my country, hardly anyone customers or suppliers know anything about any law regarding warranty. Most just follow a black and white FAQ to solve **** -_-

Hi there. Are you sure you are using the latest firmware? Might be worth checking in the "about" area of settings.
Might seem like a lot of effort to go to, but if it is causing you so much trouble I would recommend a complete factory reset and then not installing any third party apps for a couple of days to rule that out.
Can be a nightmare to track the cause though - good luck!
Install better battery stats and see if anything is keeping your phone awake under partial wakelocks. Sometimes apps can keep your phone awake even if you think it's asleep.
To be honest I sync Facebook, Google Now, Weather, and such and my battery is fine. It can last me a working day with normal usage.
It's a smartphone at the end of day having sync off for me would be pointless in having a smart phone.
As a caution you can always buy a portable charger if battery is such a major issue.

Although just kissing a bit of liquid nitrogen would lower the temp to about -250 C would definitively solve the heat problems but would kill your battery.
I would suggest dry ice at a more usable -50 C.
