When you play games, anything ranging from 40-50 is normal AFAIK.
My HTC sensation xe also over heat af. During d over heat my battery drains faster

Battery is classed as "over heated", shown with a red/green flashing notification, when the batter is 48c or higher.
In this state the phone won't charge.

a bit of liquid nitrogen should do the trick

Could disable two cores. That helps a lot of heat with no performance hit, other than in benchmarks.

Although just kissing a bit of liquid nitrogen would lower the temp to about -250 C would definitively solve the heat problems but would kill your battery.
I would suggest dry ice at a more usable -50 C.

Nope afraid not. This would be caused by the 4 processors giving you that performance.
Just think of the winter months when it's cold!!

I made this app that can help with the overheating issue. It allows you to disable/enable the processors cores
Edit: It would help if I posted the link - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652136 ><

isn't it kind of pointless to disable the other cores? and besides there is the fifth core that manages the load...

The 5th core only runs in deep sleep, disabling 2 cores makes phone run cooler and is still smooth only way you can tell is from bench marks.

Not if you don't want to burn your hands when playing games!
Not sure if it has much of an effect on battery life, but the temperature drops quite drastically with 2 cores disabled.

Yeah, don't worry about it. Sense doesn't like it going above 45° but it often does, especially when playing games.
If you are worried about the temperature and your device is rooted you can try using my application CoreControl to disable some of the processors cores. This can help reduce the temperature quite dramatically http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652136

Hello everyone,
I had a HOX one month ago and everything was ok, no defects at all, the only issue I had is that my device was getting too hot,
it was so annoting, it gets hot over simple tasks, like using facebook app, or whatsapp, so is there any solution for this issue??
I've had mine for more than an month now and it has never been even slightly warm, even while charging...
Might be something wrong with your phone?

Can you please give more info. Like custom rom or stock.
Rooted/"unrooted"
Which rom
Which kernel
Anything else that might be useful. Anyway I had a similar problem, so might be able to help, but remember the more info the better. Its pretty hard to say by just reading the OP.

It's normal that these phones get hot.
They have a lot of power
It's the same with cars. The bigger the engine the more heat gets produced.

Kernel is most responsible for the heat. I suggest to change that first. You might want to go for any ROM with base 2.05.x and the stock kernel for that. Those roms include Arhd(7.2), Viper and Maximus by football

Install faux kernel, and undervolt your CPU.
The problem remain but very very lower.
Your battery will last longer.

what is the best rom for the hox?
different people prefer different roms... i think roms like arhd, cm9 and etc are like comparing a lambo and a ferrari.. most roms are pretty good compared with stock... its more of what u need it for... if u take the lambo maybe it has greater top speeds but suck at cornering and vice versa... hehe... anyway my advice is as long as it is not stock you will definitely feel the difference...

Hello.
I'd like to know how many hours your N7 lasts while gaming, from 100% to 10% at least.
Your question is too broad, some games take more power than others.

Alright, let's say 50% brightness while playing games like Modern Combat 4, Nova 3, etc, a game that requires all the power your device can give.
I get around 4 hours of screen time with playing games for 4 hours straight only and doing nothing else. Maybe sometimes 5 hours. Why?

It would increase but I doubt by much unless you super under clock it.

What do you mean by "keeping my device cooler"? What does the heat have to do with battery life, and also, how can it actually decrease the heat?

Keeping a device cooler means less energy Is consumed ( heat is wasted energy). when installing glitch kernel you will be able to decide how thermal control works for your device . beside decreasing temperature produced by device will increase it's life span
At installing I use stock for everything . beside decreasing battery capacity to 93% and super cool feature

I didn't flash the kernel, as I said, ElementalX has this feature. I enabled it, I've seen a reduction on heat, not too much but it's something noticeable. Battery life though, I think I should clock the gpu at stock frequencies and underclock the cpu to at least 1.2ghz.
Normal usage with low brightness could last at least 10 hours of screen usage, it's completely ok, but when I'm playing it's like 15% lost every 30 minutes, which means it lasts 3 hours... if I let it die it might last until 3 hours and half. And I should at least get from 4 to 5 hours, right?

90 minutes of gameplay.
20% lost in that period of time.
Trial Extreme 3, 30% brightness, 30% volume.
1ghz underclock.
If that's accurate, I'd be getting 7.5 hours of gameplay, which is just too much to be true.
Now, I have to test Nova 3, with the same configuration and gameplay time but with 1.5 ghz.
I have a question: If my device is 100% charged, does it discharge quickly than if it were on 50% charge? Because, the problem I was having was that, during 15% battery lost gameplay I achieved 30 minutes, so, doing the maths that would be 3 hours or a little more. So, does this actually happen? Or am I mistaken.
Thanks for answering.
