Hello.
I'd like to know how many hours your N7 lasts while gaming, from 100% to 10% at least.
Your question is too broad, some games take more power than others.

Alright, let's say 50% brightness while playing games like Modern Combat 4, Nova 3, etc, a game that requires all the power your device can give.
I get around 4 hours of screen time with playing games for 4 hours straight only and doing nothing else. Maybe sometimes 5 hours. Why?

My battery burns when I play, I wonder if underclocking could increase that.
It would increase but I doubt by much unless you super under clock it.

What do you mean by "keeping my device cooler"? What does the heat have to do with battery life, and also, how can it actually decrease the heat?

Keeping a device cooler means less energy Is consumed ( heat is wasted energy). when installing glitch kernel you will be able to decide how thermal control works for your device . beside decreasing temperature produced by device will increase it's life span
At installing I use stock for everything . beside decreasing battery capacity to 93% and super cool feature

I mean, can I still have this cooler feature without the 93% battery capacity?

I didn't flash the kernel, as I said, ElementalX has this feature. I enabled it, I've seen a reduction on heat, not too much but it's something noticeable. Battery life though, I think I should clock the gpu at stock frequencies and underclock the cpu to at least 1.2ghz.
Normal usage with low brightness could last at least 10 hours of screen usage, it's completely ok, but when I'm playing it's like 15% lost every 30 minutes, which means it lasts 3 hours... if I let it die it might last until 3 hours and half. And I should at least get from 4 to 5 hours, right?

90 minutes of gameplay.
20% lost in that period of time.
Trial Extreme 3, 30% brightness, 30% volume.
1ghz underclock.
If that's accurate, I'd be getting 7.5 hours of gameplay, which is just too much to be true.
Now, I have to test Nova 3, with the same configuration and gameplay time but with 1.5 ghz.
I have a question: If my device is 100% charged, does it discharge quickly than if it were on 50% charge? Because, the problem I was having was that, during 15% battery lost gameplay I achieved 30 minutes, so, doing the maths that would be 3 hours or a little more. So, does this actually happen? Or am I mistaken.
Thanks for answering.

I don't see a thread like this for the T-mobile variant so I figured we can have our own. It would be nice if you included the following with your posts:
screenshots including on screen time, information about your rom, kernel, etc. and estimated talk, text, browsing, and gaming time, and what brightness you had your screen on (auto, full, etc.). If you use something like SetCpu with profiles list your profiles and settings here too.
I'll start:
This is only my second cycle charge on this device. I only got it 2 days ago now which means it still has room for improvement
My sig has my rom info and I basically did a lot of twitter browsing, about 100 texts a few short minute phone calls including an hour long call when it was at around 10%, a lot of XDA reading, and no gaming today.
I have the device overclocked to 1.89ghz with this kernel with min set at 384mhz ondemand governor. I have a profile that clocks down to 1.5ghz at 50% battery life and another that clocks down to 1ghz at less than 10%.
I've never had a device give me 4h on screen time especially with the abuse I give this device. I can't wait to try out other kernels and roms to see these numbers rise.
I could get a day and a half with no tweaking and low usage, on an average day I'm getting ~15 hours before it starts whining about the battery
Yeah but what's your on screen time?

I agree, best battery life I have had out of all of my previous smartphones. I am still testing roms and kernel combinations to figure out what works best for how I use my device. I'm in the middle of testing FSG3 rom with trinity kernel. Will post up battery usage within the next 2 days to compare to my previous Stock rom with Adama 003 kernel battery life.
My Screen
Pretty Good so far, Stock Rom - Rooted - Still 40% left.
This is with the fsg3 rom and trinity kernel. First and only cycle so far. Brightness 100% wifi on most of the time, and data and gps always on. Played music for about half an hour and browsed xda for half an hour.
Edit: screen on time was just over 4 hours deleted the ss by accident.
Will post up the 2nd cycle when it's done.

I don’t play intense 3D games, only few simple 2D puzzle type games, With those games the phone only gets barley warm (nothing out of the ordinary). When using WiFi for browsing, youtube or audio streaming its even better. NOw I'm on Viper X 4.0.4 custom ROM. but I had stock 4.0.3 for couple of months before that and I didn't notice a difference.
Stock everything and battery regularly hits 110° both charging and just listening to music off charger
Monitor the heck out if it but runs hot. Had no real heat problems with gs3.

Mine gets quite hot too. Before the latest update, I noticed it would hit 56-57 °C and the battery health would say 'Overheat', but now it's better. I haven't seen it get over 48 and the screen doesn't heat up so much (before, I actually had to let it cool for a while because it would burn my fingers), but the battery isn't too different - it goes down about 1% / minute when playing THD or graphically-intensive games.

Is it for real or is it just an general rule in Android? I mean, is it really not supposed to go into overheat, or does the system just report that for all phones and the Tegra is fine even at higher temps?

htc have added that, once the battery hits 48c it counts as over heating and stop charging until in drops below 48c, most batteries are meant to be kept under 60c so 48 seems a bit low, maybe you could email HTC about it.

Usually forcing the use of GPU does cause a difference in battery life, but the difference is unnoticeable. Maybe half a millisecond less of battery life.
Edit: My info may be wrong. I just read this in ICS days in a similar thread.

It should increase battery life since hardware acceleration usually means less stuff for the CPU to process which equals power savings.

I dont think the op's battery is that far off. An hour of screen on time plus an hour of streaming music. Streaming uses a lot of battery.

If anyone rally thinks the battery is an issue try stock and try removing the apps that run all the time. This would at least tell you if it is your battery out just processes. It is tough these days to not have a bunch of crap running all the time. Many of the app devs add these things trying to find info, etc
Also.. Sometimes will run the battery down faster than others. Streaming media is a killer, video, gaming, etc.. Don't expect mega screen time doing that.
Also.. Check your brightness.

I've got to say, battery life is pretty bad with this phone. I bought it brand new yesterday so not sure if it needs to condition itself or not but I came from a LG G2 which has a 3000mah battery, which is slightly smaller than this but battery life was far better. Granted the screen was slightly smaller but still. Is there any Roms that improve battery life but still relatively stock?

Ya, this sounds bizarre.. I've found this battery to be amazing. How long is it lasting? I've had mine for less than a week and I've used it heavily everyday. I have not even had to worry about charging during the day. 24 hours no problem.
Same here. The first week it was lasting all day but with only 3 hours of screen on time. After some tweaking, I'm currently getting still 20ish hours with 5-6 hours screen on time.

I'm just using the stock ROM, rooted with the Kingo Root app. Installed TWRP and then Faux Kernel (hltetmo-faux123-003u)
Be warned, TWRP did trip the Knox counter to 0x1. I had to install Knox Disabler so it would stop complaining.
I was getting about 24 hours per charge, until remembered about the FauxClock app and enabled the Intelliplug driver and Intellithermal manager. About this time, I also installed Advanced Task Killer after going without it for a few years.
Screen brightness is on auto, WiFi and mobile data are both on constantly. I have not had to make many calls though, so I'm not sure how this may affect battery life...

Because of adjustments... Custom ROM and kernel, Screen is at 35%, gps and all location services off, NFC off, all the phones extras like air gestures multi window etc are off, I use greenify to freeze apps and I have most Google syncs off and I'm only able to achieve this. I know a lady who knows nothing about phones and has everything/feature on the phone turned on with full brightness and gets 15.5 off charge with 5.5 screen on time by the time she's at 30%.
