So i cannot update or install any apps even with 4gb left in phone storage. It is the second that this happens to me and both times after moving some big games with folder mount to sd card. How can solve this? First time i reinstall the rom(stock 108) with wipe, not i tried the same without wipe and it didn't help, obviously i don't want to wipe and want to find a solution.
Why did it happened when mounting some games? I did move them to sdcard1/Android/obb anything has to do with that?
Please help

So I'm not the most amateur guy our there with rooting, and I've flashed roms countless amounts of times, but I'm now getting the "Download failed" error whenever trying to download from the market.
I've had the issue before and wiping cache from the market app, google Talk, browser and the phone cache solved the problem in the past. This newest rom I have (B.O.S. Kingdom Port RC3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1088908) is not responding when I try these things. I haven't been able to find a solution when searching through the threads on here... Any suggestions to things I might try?

Check to see how much internal and sd card space you have left. I believe that ROM is too big for all of it to fit on the system partition so some of it gets put where your apps normally are. You may need to add an ext partition to your sd card to free up some space.

I can tell you right off the bat you hit that right on the nose. This rom is HUGE.
After checking, there are 101MB on the internal memory and 5.87/16 gigs on my SD card. I've noticed some people create tis partition. I know it wipes the card when it is performed. Can you direct me to detailed instructions on performing the partition? I don't mind wiping the phone out. (I do it frequently)
And Thank you very much for the help!
good day every one and i hope that u help me some how
my mobile is DHD android revulotion 6.1 and tried 6.3

that was the first strike now when i open the sd and phone storage beside the sd and internal memory space there isn't any numbers ( imean it has to show number like for say 515 mb free and so on right ) insted of that there is 2 letters PB and nothing more

Try wiping everything and reflashing the rom.

If you have a LOT of apps, and re-install them all at the same time, sometimes the dalvik cache seems to get full and the phone reports that it is out of memory when you try to install another app. If that's the case, try clearing data from Market and wiping the dalvik cache in Recovery.
thnx
thanks every one but can u tell me how can i delet a thread ???
i did what u told u but nothing changed still the same problem
sone one told me to do partitions in the ext4 or it is some thing related to this fact can any one tell me what did he mean ?

The DHD has a lot of internal memory so can handle a lot of apps installed. However if you have a really large amount of apps, it is possible to make a special partition on your SD card that acts as an extension to the internal memory. This is called an sd-ext partition and it can be done in recovery. However you also need special scripts to make it work. It's mostly used on older phones like the Desire that have less memory than the DHD, or on older versions of Android. Since Froyo came out, if they start to run low on internal memory, most people just use the "Move to SD" feature that is built-in to Android (Settings/Applications/Manager Applications then select an app to see if the "Move to SD Card" button is enabled).
However it sounds like you still have a lot of internal memory free, so it's more likely to be a problem with the Android system and the Market not recognising that you have free space. Try clearing Market data as well as clearing the Dalvik cache. If you haven't already tried it, go to Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/All Applications and find the Market, select it and press the "Clear Data" button. Then go into Recovery and wipe dalvik cache again and reboot. You might need to wipe Market data again. Someone else had this in the ARHD thread and had to do this more than once before it settled down.
As for MD5, it's a checksum - a way to make sure the file downloaded correctly. Just google "how to check md5" for loads of useful info.
Hello, I seem to be having a common problem, but so far no solutions have worked:
When initially downloading or updating a large app (Iron Man digital comic, Temple Run, Where's my Water, etc.) in the Google Play Store, I get the error "Insufficient Space on the Device". However, when I check my free space, I have more than enough space on the system rom, internal space, and internal and external SD cards. Regarding the common solutions, I have tried wiping the cache and data on my play store and download manager apps, wiping cache and dalvik cache, and even using both wifi and cell connections. Oddly enough, I was able to download the Iron Man digital comic over the amazon app store (which doesn't help me with the apps requiring updates through Google Play).
For reference, I am using Calk's EL29 v2.9.2 rom with the EL29 radio and standard kernel.
Thank you for your help in advance.
unmount sd card, install apps, remount sd
I'm still trying to find a fix for this... been having this insufficient space issue for weeks now.
.Do like dices said and un mount sd card then download. If that doesn't work, back up your data and format your sd. Then return data and download.
If you've installed the programs before try sd maid from the store. Check for 'corpses' and remove.

Finally
None of the above solutions worked for me. I had to go and free up a gig of internal space... yes, internal space not sd card space.. so I could install and update large apps. When I was getting the insufficient space error I had..
800+ megs internal space
3.51 gigs on internal sd card
1.75 gigs on external sd
I tried remounting installing app and remounting, clearing play store cache, uninstalling market updates, and wiping davlik cache with no results.
So basically free up a buttload of internal space to get rid of the "insufficient space" error code from Google Play.
Hope this helps somebody from pulling their hair out like I did... wait, I dont have any hair
Thank you for all of your help to posted. I was able to download and update the apps previously mentioned only by unmounting, removing, and rebooting my phone. However, now I'm still having the same problem. I have even tried the SD maid app, freeing up internal memory space to nearly 2GB, and even redownloading and re-applying the rom, with no success. In addition, I now randomly get a "package file is invalid" message.
Since the only resolution that worked involved removing the SD card, I'm assuming the SD card is the culprit. However, I can't do that every time I need to update an app. I'm also assuming that backing up, reformatting, and reloading everything onto the card would leave me with the same issues. Does anyone know what the actual root cause is and how to permanently fix it?
Thank you in advance.
@ op next time just uninstall titanium backup if you have it installed, then reinstall it and should fix your problem.

i had this issue a few weeks ago. In my situation, juice defender was somehow conflicting with my rom and giving me that error. I uninstalled juice defender and everything was fine
Hi ,
This morning I had the same issue with my phone.
I tryed all sort of things and nothing worked.
What did work at the end was to boot in recovery menu and clear the cache and the dalvik cache as well.
Boot back on (slow to start as it has to rebuild the caches) then all worked again, can now install apps.
Most easy fix, if you are rooted and you have a root explorer installed. Just delete the .odex file of that package in your /Data/App folder
or if you are rooted but dont have root explorer,
Open Terminal
Code:
su
cd /data
cd /app
ls
rm (package exact name).odex
It happens that u have previously installed package, u unisntall it but its previous odex stays there. If you do a fresh install again, and odex is corrupted one, you end up in insufficient storage.

This happens on almost all android phones why don't Google just let you choose the option of downloading to your SD card though?
The way I understand it is, only custom roms are privileged to be odexed, and thats why we land into problems.
Hi,
I am getting the annoying "Insufficient Space" errors whenever I install some things from app market. One thing can be 1mb and not work while others that are bigger will randomly work! It's just random .. but also seems to be a trend of apps i installed in the past, or ones that i have already that are trying to update. YES it tried wiping cache/dalvik cache, so no tips on factory reset/cache etc ty
There are many OUTDATED/broken tutorials for making an external partition for app data and such, and I am having trouble finding a good guide on how to do this.
Can anyone show me a good guide/video that is recent, using TWRP, that can show me how to accomplish this?
Other info:
* I do NOT use cyanogenmod (some of the App2SD apps are only for CM9/10)
* TWRP 2.6.0.0 is missing the SD card partition button! So I flashed CWM and made a 4gb partition in my extSD card. Now what?
Thanks mates

Related (had a new thread for this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2359039 - I can't find the 'partition SD card' under advanced settings .. it's just not there! I think my version is too new; perhaps they moved it but i can't find it).

Ok, so I have my external SD card partitioned. In regards to my related post, it was a bug so CWM was able to partition.
Now i have this 4gb partitioned space with 0 swap space as instructed. Now I want to make it so that apps install there instead of the emulated SDcard and also have the dalvik cache/cache there as well or whatever the heck it is that takes away the "INSUFFICIENT SPACE" bug when I 100% have space.... Help

Thankyou and sorry for my bad english
Have you tried installing and running SD Maid.
It's very good at recovering space from 'generally' used areas.
You already have root access, so you should be good to go.
Have you cleared, cache, app data and Davilk cache using Link2SD??
It's in the left side menu of Link2SD.
