Dev. ed converted to GPE. radio bands? - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Quickie:
If a developer edition is converted to a GPE edition (GPE radios, system, recovery, cid, etc.) Does this reassign the bands and enable AWS on 1700 MHz?

I want to know this as well, my Dev Edition is converted.

[Q] HTC One M8 Developer Edition

Hi
I am thinking of getting the HTC one M8 Developer Edition. Do all models have the same chipset just to be sure. if so is to possible to mod or change the radio file to an Europe or Asia radio file since the boot loader is unlocked.
I have found that in HTC middle east site it says LTE AT&T: 700/850/AWS/1800/1900/2600 is that correct can some with a Developer Edition confirm ?

If you S-OFF and Super CID you'll be able to flash the WWE firmware if you wish.

So with this i can access the LTE band(3) and Band (7) ?
So it changes radio file ?
Super edition for HTC.
Can anyone confirm if it is possible to change the LTE band by flashing a WWE firmware?

[Q] HTC One M8 Developer/Unlocked version with AWS 3G

So I'm curious, is it possible to flash the modem (with GPe modem) to enable AWS on the Developer/Unlocked version? Or is there fundamentally different in the hardware with Developer Edition and the GPe/T-Mobile phones?

[Q] Why is the Developer Edition different from WWE?

Hello.
I read a guide on how to convert anything to a Developer Edition device running Lollipop. I noticed something interesting: y'know that the WWE M8s are all SKU 401? Then why is the Developer Edition 1540? The CID is different too: WWE ones all start with HTC__ (e.g HTC__032) wile the Developer Edition is BS_US002? So what is going on here and why is the Developer Edition M8 different from the WWE one?

They're sold as different phones and need to be identified as such. Different updates come downstream for them. Basically the same reason my Rogers HTC One has yet another CID/MID, as do the T-Mobile, Orange, Telus, O2, etc.

OK, I get why there carriers have different versions. But isn't the Developer Edition pretty much the same as a WWE Unlocked one, just with an unlocked bootloader? And if the bootloader isn't unlocked, why does it even exist?

There are different ROMs. Yeah, they're probably almost identical, but not quite. I doubt I can get more specific than that... maybe they have different APNs installed? Possibly different levels of bloatware? It might just be that the dev edition gets updates first, so customers can pay extra to have a phone that updates a week or two before their WWE/Carrier counterparts.
I'm pretty sure the bootloader comes locked on the dev edition, just like all the other phones, and you have to unlock it at htcdev.com. I might be wrong though.
Are you facing some sort of technical issue, or just curious?

I'm just curious. I have heard that Developer Edition devices with CID BS_US002 ship with an unlocked bootloader. So, there is almost no difference, just HTC trying to sell it?
x.xx.401.x is the European ROM build, not World Wide English (WWE) as it used to be (which also used to be x.xx.405.x when it was WWE but that's going back a few years)
The US Developer Edition is their version of the EU SIM-free handset but has a different software build, CID and MID and has different radio frequencies so not all 4G bands are covered for EU use. It also only covers a few languages as opposed to the EU languages covered in the EU SIM-free version

Ok.. So .401 is the EU unlocked version, . 1540 is US unlocked with CID BS_US002 also having the bootloader unlocked (BS_US001 only has SIM unlock). Am I correct?
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Free mobile app
Yes, the US DE comes with the bootloader pre-unlocked. The EU model is supplied locked but can be unlocked via HTC Dev

Dev Edition Pros and Cocs

Hello,
I have AT&T unlocked phone with changed MID to be european unlocked version, but I'm thinking about changing MID back to DEV edition.
What are benefits of DEV edition?
Thanks

help roms list that can be installed in S-on?

which fit my m8 t-mobile s-on?
You don't need a list. S-off is not needed to flash any ROM.
Any ROM for the "GSM" version M8 will work on the T-Mob version. That means most M8 ROMs, but excludes ROMs specifically intended for the "CDMA" variants (Sprint, Verizon), M8s, dual SIM, M8 Eye (most of which are really different hardware, so usually not confused with the "standard" M8).
But if you are unsure, just stick to the T-Mob Development section. Or read through the thread for the desired ROM, to confirm if other T-Mob users were able to use the ROM.
