Hey guys, does anyone know how to solve the quiet in call volume in cyanogenmod 11?
Really loving the rom, but this is my old bugbare with it.
Thank you.
Flash a custom kernel like agni and use boeffla or wolfson. In it increase the speaker amplification to increase the volume

You can also try viper 4 Android and in that use Dolby pro irs file
Search I mean google viper4 Android and irs files
Hey, I have tried a custom kernel. No results so I flashed back to a stock kernel because it was more stable.
Thanks mate, any other suggestions? Should I add that if I decrease and then increase my volume in call it goes back to being loud.

I found out this is a common issue for cm 11 stable, the nightly version fixes this but what else will be wrong with the unstable version. So I am still trying to figure out this.
Thanks guys.

It appears the nightly does now fix it. Any other ideas?

You could use it never hurt if you have backup
Tried it, increased volume a little bit. But it is no where near the Samsung rom.
Can anyone give me any other suggestions I'm really racking my brain.

Posted on the Cyanogenmod forums, there are a decent amount of people having this issue too.
I am running Cyanogenmod M9, sound is not good in call.

I keep switching between Twiz and AOSP because of two big problems I'm having with AOSP 3.4.x based ROMs.
1. Call quality is poor often.
2. Most if not all custom kernels are causing SODs.
3. AOSP Messaging client doesn't send MMS through WiFi. I have to shut off WiFi and leave the toggle for data on. (Is this normal?)
I have clean wiped (wiped cache, dalvik, system, etc) before each of my installs of AOSP based ROMs.
Additional information : I'm using TWRP 2.5.0.0 and the latest modem. I'm not undervolting when the crashes occur or when poor call quality happens.
Thanks for your time and please let me know of theres other information I can give to assist you in assisting me.

Someome who can compile a rom and such always baffles me when they have questions lol, if you'd like I have LiquidSmooth rc2 with my headphone fix (headphones were broken cause of the usr/keylayout and I stumbled across and fixed it, so that you can control calls and changing music tracks and such) that was the only bug I saw with rc2 so its my go to stable AOSP rom. It is a 3.0 kernel and I have no complaints from people on call quality. If you would like I can dig up the link for you.

Please do. And lol, yeah I can be quite a noob sometimes. Compiling a ROM on Linux is easy though, it doesn't require any particular skills other than reading and following directions. Until you run into a stupid error, than you spend about 5 hours on that one error alone.

N7105. rooted. poweramp. blackbox m16 headphones.
I previously used a HtC desire Z, never rooted. My favourite app was was volume boost https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kiboweb.android.desiresoundunlock. It noticeably increasd the maximum volume with out affecting the sound quality and did not require a rooted device.
Now with the note2 rooted it does not work! I have tried several other volume boosters in the market but none of them seem to do anything. I dont care to change the capabilities of the devices speaker. The more eq apps i use with my music the lower the volume of the track, i am not willing to sacrifice bass for volume.... can anyone help?
thanks

If your phone is rooted, you can just edit a conf file to increase the volume. From memory, I think its default_gain.conf in the system/etc folder. But, I maybe wrong about the specific file. If you don't find the above file using ESFileExplorer (or whatever root explorer you are using), just google for this. The issue has been addressed quite extensively. Once you find the right file, there is a section for volumes where you just increase whatever number is next to Headphone and you are done. Be careful about how much you increase it. Good luck...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722136 might help... Its for the GS3, but the same applies to my N7100, and I imagine should stand true for your 7105 as well.

Which custom rom run the smoothest & doesnt eat up all the battery? Out of curiosity cos I tried them all I think & I cant tell >.< lool

Can't help you there buddy. Every phone is different and every user has their different tastes. Asking which is smoother is like asking which is better. I know you said you've tried them all but if you can't tell the difference then why is it a problem? As long as it isn't freezing up on you or stuttering I'd say they are all smooth. Want smoother? Play around with the CPU and Governer settings. Just dont set them too low. Good luck

Hi everyone,
Tried a few ROMs for the T989 and for me DU is the most stable and feature rich so I'm sticking to it, the only downside is the low overall volume: ringer, notifications, loudspeaker, etc.
Is there a workaround I'm missing?
Thanks!!
I'm not very familiar with Dirty Unicorns. It was always on my list of Roms I should try. But anyways, on Cyanogenmod we have DSP Manger, which controls audio effects. Does Dirty Unicorn have one? Is so you may want to play with the settings and see if you could fix it. If it doesn't have one I'm sure there's a fantastic one on the play store.

I forgot to ask. Did you ever try the volume on different Roms you installed?
I guess DU isn't the most stable ??

Thanks for you reply.
With all the roms I tried before settling for DU volume was not an issue, but on many the GPS lock was horrible. So far it's been very stable and y really dig the lockscreen expanded notifications which I couldn't get working with other roms.
Dirty Unicorns does not come with a DSP manager (or I haven't found it) but the few apps I've tried (like volume boosters or DSP managers) didn't make any difference.
I'm always glad to help.
Have you tried PacMan? I recently was using thus Rom and it was fairly stable, had various customizations, and was pretty feature filled. It had locksreen notifications.
Well considering it wasn't an issue on other Roms, it isn't hardware related. Are you running on the latest build? Did you do a full system wipe when switching between Roms? You can always try reflashing the latest DU build after wiping the cache, this may fix your issue.
Have you looked on the thread dedicated to the DU ROM? This may be an issue the Dev is aware of. If he hasn't stated knowing this and nobody had pointed it out, it would be wise to post your issue in the thread. Its possible someone might offer you a solution or confirm the issue on their device.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it for the last week with mixed results but today it became very laggy and some GPS apps (as Waze) would not run. This ROM does have better volume than DU but it's way slower.
Right now I'm switching to the latest stable Paranoid Android ROM released today, I hope it's stable, fast enough and with good volume.
Always happy to help. I don't play around much with apps that rely on GPS so I am not sure which have the most stability GPS wise.

After trying a few more ROMs (AOKP, PA, Carbon) I think I'll just go back to DU and try to boost the volume of the ringtone and notification files before uploading them to my phone.
Thanks for the help!
OK so I flashed the PAC ROM for hlte then I noticed my screen would stay asleep after every phone call forcing me to press home to wake it up pull down my notification bar and hanging up through the notification now I recently changed to the latest snapshot from cyanogenmod and flashed the latest lean kernel hoping that oy would be fixed and nope still does the same thing. Just wondering if I can fix it or is it my phone that's busted?
Also my screens is cracked pretty bad don't know of that matters any replies would be nice! Thank you

Hello, I also had this issue 2 days ago. I was on HyperDrive Rom and I couldn't get my screen to turn on at all after a call. It happen when I downloaded a nightly of Cyanogenmod and had it fail. What I had to do was restore a week old back up and haven't had it return yet. Maybe CM related? I'm not sure but been fine since.

Well then I'm going to say ALWAYS MAKE A BACK UP!! then you can delete it if ur new Rom works good but u should always keep at least ONE. If you do have that one back up I would say yes, go do that or the better and easier option is to just start completely fresh with a full wipe and new Rom. Hope this helps. Btw I have not had that problem since I used a week old back up

Its a kernel issue, and it could possibly be a cm source issue. Meaning most cm based kernels could have the hard sleep issue. So if its on one cm kernel its almost going to be on all. Since source commits are the same, just added features per kernel. I highly recommend yank 555 kernel, then you can tune your max off freq and hardlimit etc. May help you out a bit.. Pm me for link to thread if needed
