What do you need the dock for? Straight-thru USB?
If so, wouldn't be difficult to design one to 3D print. Use a local mail-order 3d print service.

I discussed with Akinaro in the thishttp://forum.xda-developers.com/xper...2167089/page28 thread about options and products.
It would be interesting to hear your opinion on the design

I have updated to 2.3.4 and i was in the service menu (press *#*#7378423#*#* ) and it has an option to turn on/off HDMI and also it gives a few setting to mess around with.
So my question is has anybody tried this? or if you have a Micro USB to HDMI cable hanging around can you try it and see if it works.

that would be awsome I would donate
there is a HDMI port just below the left touchpad, but they concealed it and marketed it as no-HDMI device to avoid further competition with the Arc.. only expo PLAYs have the HDMI port.. besides, if you added HDMI to the Play, it would be the all-around phone overshadowing the arc, which i suppose, is marketing strategy at its best..
Sux Bout no hdmi but imo we shoudlve got the panaroma apk
I used the XDA App to post this, what did you use?

Have you torn up your Play to back this up? Or is it that they add this port for a limited batch of demo units and developers?
Is there seriously an HDMI port under the left touchpad?

who knows they made it all that way, besides why would they put HDMI settings under *#*#7378423#*#* anyway?

In which sense is asking for proof being a prick? You need not to tear up your Play yourself, you can show us someone else doing it with his own retail model.
And about why there is an HDMI menu under that code, given that the whole 2011 Xperia range comes with the same architecture, it would be fully unsurprising to find that menu in Xperia Ray, mini, Mango (mini pro), and Active, which are the phones without HDMI capability.
So Sony Ericsson is hiding HDMI and an FM Radio from us? I have seen the FM Radio app and tried to install it, but it failed.
tones get easily changed by the wind pretty fast, as always..

The FM-Radio app won't ever work as it's disabled at hardware level, though it supports it. You'll need some dev to enable it, prob in a kernel, but don't think it's high on the to do dev/modding list
SE should've had the HDMI on our devices at release, but they chose not to, nothing to do about that really, though it defo would've been nice with that feature

HDMI on the XPlay would've made it a 'full grown' Mobile PlayStation..
and the perfect handheld for EVERY gamer. And i mean EVERY gamer.
If we could all have dev kits. Kudos to any dev that can make that happen.
Why don't just solder your own HDMI port. If there are connections on the pcb it should be possible.

Where in the states can I buy one? This is super cool!!!
yea, i want to pick one up too
nice that looks pretty cool. I wonder how long shipping takes?
i guess you gotta import one from the UK. there's some on ebay.
Very nice!
But very expensive. The exchange rate makes it effectively $60-70.

At that price you're better off using a PS3 controller + USB OTG adapter.
Even easier than that and much more convenient..get a Sixaxis ps3 wireless controller and reprogram the Bluetooth on it to match you s3 .. I use it all the time

What's easier with this option? You would need to use rubber band to use it (as the title says) as a handheld console

also, imagine the bad user experience u would get in a train or everywhere else, where u can't put your phone on a stand
Hi guys,
I know there are some threads on this already, but I wanted to start a new one.
I'm looking for a real specific kind of mount, since I already have a swan neck & bicycle mount from my previous Xperia.
I've been browsing the internet, trying to find a holder like the one in the picture:
So far, I'm unable to locate one. Has anybody seen these for a Z1 compact? If yes, please provide me a link !
Thanks!!!
The fixing system reminds me of HR (Herbert Richter) and AFAIK they do car & bike holders. Should be available on amazon and eBay...

Well yes, the fixing system is indeed HR compatible, but the holder itself isn't Richter.
I've been looking on Amazon & eBay first of all, but even in other webshops I'm unable to locate it for the Z1 compact.

It is very similar, but your link is an active holder. I need a passive holder, since I'm also using it on my bicycle.
Maybe it just takes some more time to be available...
I assume you looked for Z1f as well?

Oh..., you must have one of those new 3D wood-printers, huh. Ever thought of making a bamboo rear battery cover for the phone maybe--I think it'd look really cool.
I've seen images of this strap adapter show up several times on various Sony sites (see attached picture), but I have never heard of anyone actually owning it.
Does anyone own the watch holder/strap adapter shown in the attached image?
If so, does it have pins that can be unscrewed to allow the user to use whatever strap they want?
Does anyone know anywhere this thing can be purchased (alone, without the watch)?

With this adapter you can indeed use any band you want. Sony should start selling these any moment now. I don't what is keeping them so long!

Being able to use the band you want is the meaning of this adapter so no surprise there.
The adapter was announced in the beginning of this year next to the "steel" version of the smartwatch 3 which just entered in stores here in The Netherlands. Because I really want the adapter (as it makes the watch more classy imo) I phoned with Sony and they promised me that the waiting is almost over. No specific dates but very soon...
Sony has been selling the watch bundled with the holder and leather strap for the past week or so in several European countries. It's a matter of time before they release the holder/strap as a standalone accessory.
I'm honestly quite worried that Sony will retire this watch before they manage to release this

I've been hearing this since January/February. Care to explain how you know this?
And to OP: Sony UK is selling all versions of the Smartwatch 3 now. Steel band, adapter with 2 colors of leather, and multiple colors of the same band we've had all along. Sadly, only with the full watch, not the individual bands.
I have no doubts supac is correct (though, want more info). Sony has stated since February, at the least, that the bands will be available "early spring." The timeline was wrong, but they are coming, I hope, soon. Unless the Smartwatch 3 is going to end up like the Vita, only supported elsewhere, and to a small degree.
Xperia media replied to my query in twitter, they said that they were aiming for 2nd or 3rd week of May.....kinda late but hey

Maybe they're not planning on selling the universal strap adapter standalone.
That would suck for those of us who already own the watch

Pure speculation:
The watch hasn't sold well enough for Sony to justify spending the resources needed to release this.
and/or
Sony has decided to spend the resources instead on the Smartwatch 4.
or
Sony has decided to exit the smartwatch market.

or
Sony are incompetent. This is the one I'm going for. They can show off a product, sell a watch with a steel band but not the band by itself and the white band has been for sale on their website for a while but no sign of the lime green one? Sonys products are great but the marketing and supply chain is terrible.

Yeah, good one. Let's add another option (however unlikely) just for fun: They're malicious; They released the rendering of the adapter to generate interest for their watch with no intention of ever releasing the accessory!

If any of these are true then they are intentionally lying by still insisting the adaptor will be available which is malicious. Personally I can't see this which means incompetence is more likely due to the fact that this small piece of plastic is not difficult to make or distribute yet they blow through published release dates regularly.
@rob_h
I think you mistook my post for being sarcastic. Sorry about that. None of it was sarcastic.
I honestly agree with you that it's very likely they've been unable to release this because of their incompetence. I also honestly think there's a chance (however small) that they're being malicious/disingenuous here by releasing that rendering of the strap adapter with little or no intention of actually selling it one day.

I think we are probably thinking similar things :highfive:
The whole thing will make me think about Sony products next time I swap my phone, watch or tablet all of which are Sony at the moment.

Looks great where to buy?
