I've seen images of this strap adapter show up several times on various Sony sites (see attached picture), but I have never heard of anyone actually owning it.
Does anyone own the watch holder/strap adapter shown in the attached image?
If so, does it have pins that can be unscrewed to allow the user to use whatever strap they want?
Does anyone know anywhere this thing can be purchased (alone, without the watch)?

With this adapter you can indeed use any band you want. Sony should start selling these any moment now. I don't what is keeping them so long!

Being able to use the band you want is the meaning of this adapter so no surprise there.
The adapter was announced in the beginning of this year next to the "steel" version of the smartwatch 3 which just entered in stores here in The Netherlands. Because I really want the adapter (as it makes the watch more classy imo) I phoned with Sony and they promised me that the waiting is almost over. No specific dates but very soon...
Sony has been selling the watch bundled with the holder and leather strap for the past week or so in several European countries. It's a matter of time before they release the holder/strap as a standalone accessory.
I'm honestly quite worried that Sony will retire this watch before they manage to release this

I've been hearing this since January/February. Care to explain how you know this?
And to OP: Sony UK is selling all versions of the Smartwatch 3 now. Steel band, adapter with 2 colors of leather, and multiple colors of the same band we've had all along. Sadly, only with the full watch, not the individual bands.
I have no doubts supac is correct (though, want more info). Sony has stated since February, at the least, that the bands will be available "early spring." The timeline was wrong, but they are coming, I hope, soon. Unless the Smartwatch 3 is going to end up like the Vita, only supported elsewhere, and to a small degree.
Xperia media replied to my query in twitter, they said that they were aiming for 2nd or 3rd week of May.....kinda late but hey

Maybe they're not planning on selling the universal strap adapter standalone.
That would suck for those of us who already own the watch

Pure speculation:
The watch hasn't sold well enough for Sony to justify spending the resources needed to release this.
and/or
Sony has decided to spend the resources instead on the Smartwatch 4.
or
Sony has decided to exit the smartwatch market.

Sony are incompetent. This is the one I'm going for. They can show off a product, sell a watch with a steel band but not the band by itself and the white band has been for sale on their website for a while but no sign of the lime green one? Sonys products are great but the marketing and supply chain is terrible.

Yeah, good one. Let's add another option (however unlikely) just for fun: They're malicious; They released the rendering of the adapter to generate interest for their watch with no intention of ever releasing the accessory!

If any of these are true then they are intentionally lying by still insisting the adaptor will be available which is malicious. Personally I can't see this which means incompetence is more likely due to the fact that this small piece of plastic is not difficult to make or distribute yet they blow through published release dates regularly.
@rob_h
I think you mistook my post for being sarcastic. Sorry about that. None of it was sarcastic.
I honestly agree with you that it's very likely they've been unable to release this because of their incompetence. I also honestly think there's a chance (however small) that they're being malicious/disingenuous here by releasing that rendering of the strap adapter with little or no intention of actually selling it one day.

After three failed displays on three MBW-150s (two Executives and one Classic), I may try the MW-200. Someone on another thread said that the display on his MBW-200 hasn't faded (yet), while his MBW-150 did. Since the MBW-200 uses a different display, I wonder if Sony knew this all along, and that's why they came out with it?
FYI, when I called the local Fossil shop to see about the possibility of getting replacement displays for my MBW-150s, the tech said they DID NOT make the MBW series for Sony-Ericsson, another vendor did. He said they did make the MetaWatch, but as stated elsewhere, it doesn't work very well with OpenWatch.

After some searches, it seems that the MBW-200 is designed to be a woman's watch. Can someone compare the size of it to the MBW-150? I'm a big guy with large wrists, so I don't want a little sissy watch on my wrist.

Let's wait
This one is VERY expensive!!!
I think I'm going to wait for the Pebble smartwatch as an ultimatum, and if something worthy comes out in the meantime, I'll get it.
The sony smartwatch DOES work just fine with the HTC One X, but it does not support email notification for HTC's email app as each vendor makes their own email app. I am sure at some point someone will come up with an HTC compatible notifier as it has an open API. Someone has written one for Gmail.

I know every technology needs it's first users... But isn't this a little soon for that type of things ?
My points are :
- My new One X with a quadcore, a camera,etc... will be thinner than my watch
- Having to reload it every night or so will be a pain
- It's ridiculously expensive
- What will it bring ? If you see you have a mail or a SMS, you'll check it on the large beautiful screen of your phone
(BUT, if they were less expesive, I'd definitively buy one of thoose )
Yep I ordered the Pebble, I know people with the Sony Smartwatch and the imWatch, which are ust too big and need frequent charging. The Pebble is most importantly a watch with other functions secondary.

I thought about posing this question in the Q&A section but since it is an accessory I thought I’d list it here. Has anyone heard of a planned release date for the Allshare Cast dongle? I saw Amazon is taking orders at $100 saying it “usually ships within 1-2 months” but that’s not exactly precise.

Did you ever find out your answer? I need to buy on of these asap. I saw it on amazon too and it says 1-3 months now. Are they not available in the USA yet? Also I called the Official Samsung Accessories department today and the guy was very helpful, but had NEVER heard of this device. Seriously, I sent him a few links of the device on Amazon and the Review of the device off Engadget. He called me back to let me know, no one there had ever heard of it either.....Weird!
It's available in Poland
From all I've heard it should be last week of August in UK, and I just don't get why we get the high end phones released and announced first over here because we are one of the biggest markets, but Samsung always give us the accessories last and not bother with any firm release dates, I mean a lot of people are already pissed off with lack of Mass storage mode and External App moving so you'd think they'd have enough sense to get the accessories out as quick as possible to divert attention away from everything else they messed up.

Yeah I know what you mean... I mean stupid HTC has there Media Link out already. It does practically the same thing, but from what I have seen, it isnt quite as good. I wonder if it is even compatible with with other android devices. I want the Allshare Dongle because as a teacher I want to use its presentation mode for power point.
Hey guys, one more thing, I also Have a Nexus 7, you think I could install Allshare on the Tab an use the dongle with the tab as well? That would be ideal!
Allshare funcion uses wireless lan (router) to stream only videos, photos and music.
Allshare cast dongle uses Wi-Fi Direct technology to create mirror of the phone on the TV screen (you can also play games). You don't have to be in the area with wi-fi network.

We are back this time more prepared with three manufacturer in hand. Will definitely looking for more backups XD. We feel excited too

Hi @SamDeKyro. Good day! It will definitely simplify the way you change your strap. There is two way you can do, either you get a strap with quick release or just use a 1mm pin to remove from the quick release lug whole lug of SteelConnect M. In addition it will reduce your chances of scratching your Moto360 everytime you change it. Cheers!

Hi GTiceman, Yes you could always opt for the Nato or Zulu straps, however you need to sacrifice the function of heart rate sensor. We do have some tricks which could help some of you with smaller hand to still use your heart rate sensor while having nato strap on board. Everything is flexible, stay tune XD

Hi @nonmindo. We do have the same concern, and thats the first intention of making SteelConnect M. Moto 360 lug just allowed straps that are below 3.5mm thickness, so there is a little constrain there. We do see that some of the fans out there manage to get some 3rd party strap that looks cool; but if your choice of strap are more than 3.5mm, we can help you . There is more possibilities that you could think of. Cheers!

Hi @Suzzook, Thanks for your interest in SteelConnect M. The campaign will be launched on next week in Kickstarter. Kickstarter is basically a platform for people to pledge funds to support a project. Just head to the Kickstarter website and have a look at their FAQ. Example: https://www.kickstarter.com/help/faq/backer+questions?ref=faq_nav#BackAProj
I believe that Steelconnect has yet to create the project in Kickstarter for the Moto 360 adaptor. Just be patience, and wait for him to tell us know once the project has been started. I'm waiting too.

Hi @Suzzook, Thanks for your interest in SteelConnect M. The campaign will be launched on next week in Kickstarter. If everything goes well, the production will start on end November after the campaign. We estimated to shipped it out latest by Jan or mid Feb 2015. This is how it works in Kickstarter.

Could you consider abandon KickStarter and straight go for pre-order ? That way we could get it much sooner, and you may batch produce for lower cost
Dear all,
as some of you know, SteelConnect has recently launched an accessory (the M180 and M225) that reduces the risk of backcracking of the Moto 360 while also making it easier to switch bands.
However, I and several other people love the idea but I don't really like the gap between the device itself and the curve of the M180.
I sent them a mail and they told me they were open to suggestions and were willing to listen to other ideas if it got enough support.
At the time of posting this poll, there are already over 160 votes on Google Plus.
Make sure to also head there to click on the options.
Thats what this is for: I would like to know how many of you would love a similar concept to this, but with a downward facing slope. So instead of going along with the body of the 360, leading to the gap, I would suggest a paperclip shape.
What do you think? Make sure to leave your feedback here or in the G+ discussion
PS: Thanks for participating guys. I am sure that if we reach, let's say 200 people who'd be willing to buy it, Steelconnect will do it. They were pretty happy with the results so far. Great company!
I think I'd like to get the one I already ordered in hand before thinking about another product from them.

Haha, sure!
From what I understood their batches are ready (?) Saw something on their Facebook page.
Yup, they've started shipping. I backed the Kickstarter project and should be receiving my 2 x M180 tomorrow!

So i'm not 100% on this but what is the point of the M225 vs the M180? In the pictures it looks like the M225 would be for smaller wrists vs M180 for larger wrists. Am I seeing that correctly?
