Did you install LG PC Suite?
In addition, you also have to enable USB debugging in Developers settings (tap build number few times).

roflmao i forgot about debugging
Everyone overlooks things from time to time.
Yes remember it might not see it as adb till you switch it to ptp just a heads up
You may also need some of this: http://forums.team-nocturnal.com/index.php/topic/1362-how-to-adb-fastboot-in-windows-xp-7-81/
Don't forget if you use my ROM I remove the USB Debugging Icon from the notification bar. Just an FYI.

So I got my Nexus 7 2013 to work perfectly on my laptop, which runs Windows 7 x64. However, on my desktop, which also runs Win7 x64, I only have the ADB working correctly for the N7. As I recall, sometimes there is a device under Device Manager called "D:/", which is non-descriptive, but seems like the closest thing to the N7. I have tried to update this mysterious device's drivers by pointing to Google's USB drivers and the OEM drivers, but neither was accepted. There are also no devices with missing drivers listed in Device Manager.
At this point, I am not sure how to proceed. Is there a precise way identify under what device name/category the N7 shows up in Device Manager? Please advise. :fingers-crossed:
See if this helps:

Make sure USB Debugging is disabled, device is plugged in, and go to device manager in windows. Then right click on nexus 7 or android adb device, or any similar name. Then after uninstalling everything, unplug device and replug it in. Let windows get the drivers, and MTP should work!

It might sound dumb, but I was literally just having this issue. But apparently certan roms or kernel disable MTP mode when they are installed. i reinstall every driver just now. My fix was as easy as going to Settings > Storage > Menu Button Top right > Enable MTP box.

Going to try a custom rom see if that works!
I have tried a number of the suggestions in this thread, including the deletion of all my google/adb/nexus (and samsung) drivers. None of these steps resolved my problem. However, at the end of the day, I can still use both ADB and MTP, just not at the same time. So it's not a big deal. I think I will mess around with Tasker and/or get a widget for turning ADB on/off.
Are you ale to get a nexus 7 device to show so you can access internal storage? I can only access camera storage.

Are you running stock?
If so, do you have USB debugging turned on?
If you have USB debugging turned on, the USB IDs change and it might not (depending on what you have previously installed) recognize the MTP device anymore.
If you turn off USB debugging, it should recognize MTP.
Now if you are on a custom ROM, there might be some issues on the ROM side causing the MTP problem. Try going back to stock and see if it works.
If you are on stock and have the case where MTP only works with USB debugging disabled, then you can try this driver inf I put together to address that.
It is available in this thread:

I copy shows and things to my tablet to watch and It used to work, but it hasnt in some time and it kinda sucks having to power off tablet and pull sd card out to copy to it. Just getting frustrated with it. I even reset the device and updated it to android 5
Running through options, sounds like the computer. Can you hook up your phone?
Yea, phone shows up ok and just for the hell of it plugged tablet into laptop and it came up fine so i guess i have to figure out what is wrong with my desktop
Hi all,
I'm sure this is the right place to ask, but i'm using xamarin to do some dev, been using it for years and love it, have no problems debugging at all. However with the G4, despite me having USB debugging enabled, it never prompts me to authorize my computer and therefore the G4 never appears in my list of devices which I can debug with. When I connect USB the phone shows the icon to say it's in USB Debugging mode but still makes no difference.
a call to adb devices doesn't list it at all.
Can anyone offer any advice as to why I can't use it for debugging?
Thanks in advance

Linux drivers/firmware?
Anyone seen anything related to linux software support for the phone?
My dev environment is Linux want to adb to phone through linux (in my particular case ubuntu 15.04).
anyone know how to search on LG's site to find the drivers there?
They have one of those sites that pretends everything magically works so why would anyone want scary things like drivers
last night I had to select the third option in the list to get android studio to see my g4. I think it was STP or something about photo mode. When i had it in MTP (or whatever the middle option was) it never worked.
I use Mac 10.10 and didn't need any drivers, just had to select this option on my phone once plugged in.

Hi - I did get the AndroidSDK working, including ADB, with the LG G4. So there's that. Have been able to read all the information off the phone, but haven't done much beyond that to repartition the file system.

Thank you! That is exactly what I had to do. I could never successfully run "adb devices" on my Xubuntu system against my G4. Once I set it to PTP instead of MTP (USB debugging already enabled), my phone popped up asking for permission to allow USB debugging from the computer. Click OK, ran "adb devices" and the device is listed.
Hi all,
I rooted my M8 recently with the Windroid toolkit. Everything worked great, and I flashed the digitalhigh GPE rom and love it.
Now when I try to connect my phone to my computer, I do not receive the prompt for RSA key trust. My phone shows offline on my 8.1 VM and it is just not found on my Windows 7 machine. It also shows offline on a Macbook Air. I have tried everything I can find to get USB debugging to start working again but I just can't seem to find out what needs to be done. I have the latest version of the HTC drivers I believe and I should have the latest add drivers. On Sense, I had to turn on USB debugging and select the phone to be mounted as a disk drive for WinDroid to be able to root my phone.
So, how can I get this fixed? Is it an issue with the ROM? Is there some way that I can turn on a disk drive mode on the rom.
Any help is appreciated!
Thank you.

Looking at device manager, it shows my phone in two different places. It shows once in 'other devices' as just android phone and then under 'portable devices' as the name of the phone.
When I go into detail under 'other devices', device manager show that drivers are not installed but says everything is installed correctly under 'portable devices'.
I have the latest version of Sync Manager, so by that reasoning I should have the latest version of the HTC drivers. What else would I need to get my phone to not show as offline?
Thank you

Uninstall Sync Manager. It doesn't play nice with ADB. The only thing it is good for if you are rooted is installing the drivers. After that, get rid of it.

Still having issues
Hello all,
I am still having issues with getting my computer to recognize that USB debugging is on and getting it connected to my computer with adb. I have uninstalled sync manager, and yet my phone is still not recognized.
Under debugging in developer options, the only thing I have checked is USB debugging.
Is there something else that needs to be checked in the developer options? Why do I still have this issue?
P.S. I would post pictures, but I can't unfortunately :\

Thanks for the reply bford152. Oddly, I do not have this option available to me.
I would like to post pictures of the options I have under USB debug. But even posting a link and not having it parse still tries to read it and says I cannot post outside links. Next question, how do I attach photos without adding it as a link to the post. Maybe I'm blind, because I cannot see an option to do this.
Thanks everyone!
What's your adb version ?
It needs 1.0.31 for Android 5.1 and 1.0.32 for Android 6.0 (minimum requirement)
Have you tried with a secured kernel/boot.img ? If you don't have "Revoke USB debugging authorizations" in Developer options - means that you have insecure kernel installed.

I have adb version 1.0.32, so all good there.
I don't seem to have "Revoke USB debugging authorizations". So, I have Elite kernel right now and I guess that's the issue. I will get a different kernel and see if that helps.
Thanks!

Hey guys,
I'm trying to root my Huawei watch 1 since a week but with no success. The problem is that I'm not even able to unlock the bootloader.
As stated in the title the watch is not recognized at all by the PC, when I plug it in nothing happens not even a sound. I tried with at least 5 different computers running Windows 10 and one computer running Linux (Ubuntu) and I also tried different cables. In Windows Device Manager there is no sign of the watch and in Ubuntu using "lsusb" all the usb ports are shown as empty.
The watch is working perfectly btw with the latest Wear Os update (2.23.0.238044309) and Android 7.1.1
Is there anything I can do to make the PC recognize the watch ? Or are there any workaround to root the watch / unlock the bootloader ?
Any help would be appreciated

Have you enabled Developer Options and ADB debugging on your watch? If not, here's how to do it:
Open the Settings menu on the watch.
Scroll to the bottom of the menu. If no Developer Options item is provided, tap About.
Tap the build number 7 times.
From the Settings menu, tap the Developer Options item.
Enable ADB debugging.
