[Q] Is it bricked? If not what is it? What do I need to do? My life can depend on it. - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hi friends!!
After my S4 decided to run away without insurance I had to revert back to my s2. It still had Hellybean on it so I upgraded it to PA 4.45 just to check it out on my phone. Then I went into the instructions on how to unlock the phone. I went to revert it back to stock ICS that it came with to do so and when I rebooted it gets stuck at the samsung logo that pulses. I can't get into recovery but I still can get into download mode but nothing works when flashed. I tried using ODIN for every stock ROM available and still nothing. I never bricked a phone before and this doesn't seem like one to me since the bricks I fixed before have never been able to go into DL mode without being jigged, Can somebody help me. I need this running asap for medical reasons. I'm a sitting duck without this phone if something should happen to me. I live alone and have no land line if I need to call 911.

Of course not. But I think the problem may be that I didn't know that Kies was still installed in this computer.
And removing Kies didn't work either. I was talking to a guy that does jtag repair near me he said try that first. Gave me a pit file and it didn't help.

Here is something something that has worked for me twice. Use JOdin3 ( https://builds.casual-dev.com/jodin3/) Plug your phone in before going to the websute and put the TWRP tar file in PDA. Click start. It will say it needs to obtain a pit file. Click OK. Ignore the part about using in the download mode combo. It should bootloop your phone and you then might be able to unplug your phone and boot into recovery. I use this as a last resort but it has worked twice for me.

S3 won't boot - black screen

Hey folks,
I was trying to flash a custom kernel (Phenomenal Extreme 4.0) from Clockworkmod on a rooted stock 4.1.2 rom and kernel. I placed the zips on my sd card, then flashed, but it was unsuccessful. Then, when I rebooted from CWM's main menu, the phone went dead. Nothing worked, no buttons, no nothing. Any combination I tried failed, from a simple reboot, to reboot into recovery, to a reboot into download mode. Took battery out, and placed it back in, still nothing.
I'd appreciate any help you can give me! If there's anything like a factory cable, that is still better than nothing. I think I bricked it, and no warranty (Samsung's 3 month is quite short). When I plug the phone in, the laptop responds with a sound but it's not the usual sound when you dock the device. A balloon says that device driver installation failed. Then nothing happens. In any case, I rooted it and there's a flash counter of 1 on it, even if I'm running stock everything. Again, I appreciate any help!

What forum did you find that kernel? Hopefully it was made for d2tmo.
+Bound for Valhalla!
I just checked, it wasn't. It's actually made for the international version -- my fault. Oh crap, I'm totally screwed, aren't I? *rolling eyes and a long sigh*
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1917234 My question is, it failed regardless, and why would it die AFTER I reboot the phone? It should've died right when I tried to install it through CWM.

Google jtag repair.
That's an expensive paper weight.
|When Emotion Goes Up, Logic Goes Down|
I made a Nandroid before messing around.
Once I do the JTAG repair, can I restore using that Nandroid after re-rooting and flashing CWM? The guy who will be doing the JTAG said that it's dangerous because there's a risk of bricking involved.
I would just restore things individually, personally. I don't know what you had on there, but is there anything that you can't restore some other way ?
That happened to me when i flash wromg kernel. And I had a panic attack...but I somehow manage to go into recovery mod....if you can go into recovery mod...have no fear back up is there lol
Just wipe everything and restore your backup.

I had the same problem when I first got my S3. I flashed a file that was for my S2 not realizing and the phone responded the same way or didnt respond at all. Im not saying this will work but you can try. Do the proper button combo to get into download. It wont show anything on your scrren but the phone could still be in download mode. Go ahead and try connecting it to your computer and see if odin will recognize it. Make sure you have your drivers installed and dont forget to push volume up to get all the way into download mode. It worked for me once before and I hope to never have to try it again. If you have already tried this then your out of luck and will have to jtag.
JTAG is no scam. It is a VERY reliable source! Go for it.

Never mind, warranty exchange. I don't want to send my phone to strangers, even if it's legitimate. Still $45-$60 on the credit card.
I have a question though, as long as the phone is under warranty, I can exchange for a replacement an unlimited number of times, right?

Yes you can...I did it with my S2 until I got one that did'nt have any signs of being refurbished. It looked brand new! I have even told them that something was wrong with the phone (hardware issue) when there was nothing wrong just because the one year warranty was about to run out and it had a few cosmedic blemishes..I have given them a lot of money in the past 9 years so I do'nt feel too bad... I did it with my Vibrant as well.

[Q] Unroot Galaxy S3 mobile odin. Unique problem Charging port broken

I've done my fair share of searching and I couldn't come up with much so I strongly believe I have a unique problem. I hope someone can point me in the right direction
Im have a rooted GS3 747 running Paranoid Android. A couple days ago the phone wouldn't charge. I tried different cables and batteries and after some testing with other GS3's I realized that my phone's charging port was broken. As a result I couldn't even connect my phone to the computer to unroot it with odin. I want to unroot so I can send in the phone for repair under warranty. So I downloaded mobile odin pro and proceeded to unroot my phone. I copied the original rogers rom to the external sd, followed the instructions and started the process. Everything looked like it was going fine until I got stuck on the samsung screen. Did some more research and learned that I had to do a factory data restart by booting into recovery mode. Did that. By now I'm feeling pretty good about all this. I followed the instructions all the way and I'm thinking that I'm gonna get a stock phone shortly. Wrong! The phone was still stuck on the samsung screen.
Now since I cant connect my phone to the PC cuz the charging port is broken I dont know what to do. I would have just flashed Clockwork Mod like I did when I first rooted and started all over but I cant.
If no one has a solution then Im just thinking of sending it in as is. Maybe they wont be able to see that the phone is rooted since they wont be able to connect it their PC without swapping out the motherboard to fix the problem.
I should add that I went to a repair store to try and fix it and they told me that the only way would be swap out your mobo.

You will want to be sure that your flash counter says 0. This can be found by entering download mode (vol down, home, power) and you will see "custom binary count". that is how they will tell that you have rooted. Have you entered recovery and done a factory reset to get past the boot screen? If you can full wipe/ factory reset and get back into Android, I recommend you use "triangle away" app to clear your flash counter.

I entered download mode and dont see flash counter anywhere. I got the warning screen were you have the option to restart or download.
Ya I entered recovery and did a factory reset but nothing. Really cant do anything with charging port broken.
I sent it in anyways for repairs. Hopefully they just replace it
I'm having the same problem with my Gs3 with CM10 4.2.2 running. Thought this would help.

Rogers S3 Won't boot. HELP!?

Gentlemen,
I was playing with ROMs as I typically did in the past, when the phone is now stuck on the SAMSUNG logo. I reflashed the stock ROM for my i747Rogers device using ODIN. I had the PDA field with the ROM in it, and Autoreboot and F.Reset.Time checked. Hit start.
Everything went fine and it rebooted. IT's stuck........HELP?
I can get it into Download mode and ODIN will recognize. Now what??
Thanks
DSSKing
Help? I need this phone for work..... Just need to get into it with ANY rom...
If you can boot into recovery try wiping/factory reset from the boot menu. This happened to me a while back when flashing cm 10

Worst case scenario, get riff jtag done. I brick my galaxy s captivate a few years ago and that fixed it. Basically they plug the motherboard into a computer and push the ROM onto it. If you're in Toronto, I had it done at Ming Wireless downtown.
I took it to Pacific Mall (for those not in Toronto, It's THEE place for tech). A gentleman did a key sequence consisting of
the home, power and volume buttons..... got it to boot.
Wish I knew what he did. Moving forward, it's on 4.1.1 and rooted, so it won't take the update from Rogers. What's recomended>? What ROM to go with? I don't want to run into this again........
Suggestions?? Thanks guys.

Yes, I also try to understand why I have a hard brick in the same day after making a jtag.
Root and flash TWRP-openrecovery-2.6.3.0-d2can trwp flash slim bean 4.2 with kernel-dkp aosp43 2013-09-20 steady hard bricked after 4.3 and also try to slim bean and still a hard brick.
Suggestions, thank you
I'm working on it now. I updated the 4.1.1 Rogers to 4.1.2 (Why, I don't know), but it wiped out my recovery. And, I'm guessing the root
too. So, starting over. I just don't want to run into what happened yesterday.
I have not been able to have a screen and I am dead brick to another jtag still do it as an idea of what to do to get back in touch bootloader mode or if I have to make a third jtag.
The only forum on xda that's being repaired, to make a sd card but no picture still works.
I never had a problem before
I forgot to tell that everything was fine and I wanted to restart and I stayed with a black screen.

[Q] SPH-L710 Tried almost every single way to unroot/unbrick this phone

ON 11/19/13 i was having problems with my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 the wifi wouldnt work, couldnt get service on it and a list of other things. I was stock rooted with TWRP recovery before and flashed the stock MD4 with flashcount reset to take it back to Sprint so they can try to fix this which they did. After it was fixed I recieved it back and right after rooted it using the Samsung S3 Tool Kit. It was a success, but now my wifi, and bluetooth wouldnt work. So i was convinced to just not do anything and keep it stock and just wait till my next upgrade which is very soon. I did a factory reset and it booted me into the stock recovery and then i proceeded with the process. So as i was doing a factory reset it kept bring a TON of red error messages. NOTHING would mount, NOTHING would wipe, NOTHING happend. But in the end it said it said that it was a success. I was very confused to what was happening ive never seen anything like this. So i was very worried hoping it would boot back up like nothing happend, and thats exactly what happend. Nothing. All it did was boot up and stayed on the Samsung logo screen. The only thing i can do was boot into download mode and recovery. I then put my phone into DL MODE and downloaded the stock sprint rom from AdamLange and flashed it using Odin. That failed obviously. So I re-installed the CORRECT drivers, tried different USB cables and USB ports, and flashed again. That still didnt work. I then used the Samsung toolkit to unroot/unbrick my phone, that didnt work either. I read every forum related to this problem and beleive me i did, i stayed up all day and night trying to figure something out, trying to get information and re-did the process at least 2 times. I am on my last resort id never thought it ended up to me asking a question on here, i dont want to sound like an idiot but i am out of options...
Sorry i made this too long but id thought id put every single thing that i did to my phone that maybe i did wrong. Id appreciate it if anyone had any tips on what to do here, any feedback and any suggestions that can help me is appreciated, thank you.
See if THIS method works for you. Then you can start the process over.

Yes i tried this. That's what I use whenever I take it to Sprint for fixes. And also if i were to try it again it wouldn't mount my sd card or the internal memory, maybe flash it through Odin even if its a .zip file? My flash count is at 3, will sprint still be able to replace the devise or at least fix it? Thank you for the suggestion though.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-T989 with no OS

I bought this phone from a classmate because he said it was hardbricked and I wanted to fix it.. I tried to turn it on and by some miracle it cut on. But I could tell it had some custom Rom on it. I use iPhones mostly but I knew the boot screen wouldn't look like that. The phone had a silver icon that looked like a trident or something. So I proceeded to go to TRPW and wipe everything. I got to system and wiped it thinking it would erase the custom rom which I think it did but now the phone has no os. I can get to TRPW but I want to restore this SGH-T989 to the way it was when it was bought or stock firmware. I've tried many different threads but I can't understand what to do. II download 4.1.2 and tried to install it in TRPW but it won't work. Can someone please tell me what to do?
Wrong forum, US variants have their own fora, which in your case is here. I've asked mods to move your thread, sit tight until they do (might be a few hrs given it's night on your side of the world & most of the mods are there).
Use Odin to upload the factory image to the phone. That's the best way to get it back to out of the box stock.

I don't know how but in trying to get to recovery I went into download mode. I finally got the phone to get recognized and right now on Odin it says mdm.bin. I double checked the firmware rom so I think this should work.
