Stock Rom at the s3?
Did just send and receive files from a Xperia z1 compact just fine. Will check it later with my old s3, but it's running paranoid.

Tried it with my s3, receiving and sending works fine, also tried if smart share turned on makes any problems and it doesn't, my s3 runs on paranoid android though, so it's must probably that Samsung messed something up at beam with touchwiz and their own beam alternative, which only works with Samsung devices.

So I was looking through the app store and don't even see an app called Google Talk yet it comes on our phones. Did this app get replaced by Google voice? I was looking to see if any updates were available and now I don't think it's supported anymore and that maybe my wife and I should switch to gvoice? The only thing we need is video chat and both Tango and Skype don't perform well for us. There is a chirping noise when 2 ions ate used for some reason. Thanks

i think i just heard that gtalk wouldn't support video calls anymore.. i could be wrong. bummer about tango.. works great on mine.. but then again i'm not calling another ION... that is certainly weird
I just used talk about 5 minutes ago and it worked fine. Yea Tango and Skype both work terribly from one ion to another but work fine if you have 1 ion to something else.

looks like you'll just need to wait till we get 4.0
Google Talk gets a Facelift
System apps are often missing from the market. I remember them making a big deal out of adding Gmail a while back. Until then we had to rely on apks.
For video chat you should be able to use Google+. Talk is for chat, and Voice makes calls over IP, but like a regular phone. I use Talk and Voice on my ion with no issues, but haven't had the chance to test a Google+ hangout. I'll try it tomorrow and see how it goes.

I would like to get back the Messaging App that was available prior to 4.3, can it be restored?
Is there a way to used the messsaging apk that is on the Samsung Galaxy S4 and prior?
It was simple, easy, and worked.
Does such a messaging app live in the exposed mods?

There is no stock messaging app besides Hangouts. As far as I know, you cannot text on a tablet without Hangouts, Google Voice etc. The messaging app for a phone is not on a tablet. There are apps out there that will let you pair your tablet with your Android device though so you might want to try that. The messaging app from phones are not able to work on a tablet for a few reasons.
1. Not Supported
2. You need a texting plan for your tablet. ( I'm not sure if you can do this or not. I have the wifi version)
3. Texting someone means you need a phone number to text from and obviously our Nexus 7s aren't phones so you can see where that goes wrong.
I was able to get sms messaging on my 3G nexus 7 using the apk posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2178697
I am able to send and receive sms as its enabled on my data plan, it also has a phone number but it unable to accept calls
Thanks for the reply but I use wifi with my Nexus 7 and would like to have a messaging program like exists on the phone. Currently I'm using Mighty Text. It works alright and also works with the computer but it's not as simple and easy to use as the messaging app on Galaxy S 4

I use Google voice. Works pretty good

the N7 is my only phone so mighty text 'tablet version' is useless. the phone version is not white-listed for the n7 on the play store.
I pulled mighty text 'phone version' off my previous phone with 'apk extractor'. installed and works great along with go SMS pro.

How is the N7 working out for you as your only phone? What setting did you have to change in go sms pro to get it to work because mine wont send or receive anything? thanks

Unfortunately Skype is crap on the N7 and the reliability & call quality is nothing like the iPhone version of Skype.
Hence I then pulled the new Android Skype 4 from a whitelisted phone with apk extractor app and installed on the N7 .. unfortunately Skype reliability and call quality is still crap.
I am now using a SIP VOIP option (PennyTel) and it is much more reliable with better call quality.
Unforunately the Samsung HM5000 does not answer calls using the pick-up button .. but perhaps there are some hacks or apps to make it work.
No changes to Go SMS Pro .. just intstalled my mobile phone SIM and it worked .. perhaps there are differences between carriers.
Does anyone know what causes this? my MMS worked fine on 4.1.2 but now on 4.3 whenever I attached a 8mp picture it says compressing, then says file too large must be emailed. Nothing has changed with picture quality as it works fine on 8mp when attaching to 4.1.2 mms.
thanks. oh also, i just upgraded my sim and change APN, if that could be an issue.

No one has this issue on 4.3?
I believe I had this same issue with an asop ROM some time ago. A third party SMS app solved/proved that it was something surrounding the native MMS app. Try a different app, then you can dig through what might be the cause from there. Is it leaked Sammy or akop/asop?

Samsung mi5 4.3 hurricane rom. I seem to be able to send pics under 2mb but anything over fails after compressing.
Not sure if this is a Tablet 's phone, or a G3, or a Cloudy issue.
but on my N7 i get my hotmail notifications thru gmail-app and i can click the link and come straight here when a thread is subscribed.
On my G3 i get the same email, but the hyperlink is just black text and cannot click.. sounds silly but im unsure whats going on as i setup my hotmail on my n7 and G3 the same way, so why is Gmail picking it up as a hyperlink on one but not the other?? I don't seem to have any options in the setup for plain text etc, and even then hyperlinks should work anyway.
My N7 is running oem 5.0.1 and rooted with CF-Auto, my G3 is running latest Cloudy based on ?20f?(sorry new to g3 )
I have an unlocked HTC 10 that I use on T-Mobile's network here in the U.S. The phone works great, but I notice my 10 has the same issue that the LG V20 and sometimes Sony Xperia phones have...............every like 12-15th MMS (group and/or photo) message I send out to a bunch of ppl will show that it's loading but never go through until I close my texting app (Textra) out, activate it again, and then resend it (no need to reboot fortunately).
My cousin who has the LG V20 also has this issue, and he said other apps like stock and Google Messenger still have the same problem come up too.
Is ANYONE else having this issue? If so, any resolutions?! Don't understand why it's happening cuz the majority of the time it's fine.
Thanks!

I've tried using Stock before on other phones and it usually doesn't help.
Textra (my texting app) sent an update a few days ago with bug fixes included. Since then it hasn't happened. If it does though, I'll try Stock perhaps.
Thanks!
