[Q] MMS Picture Too Large - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know what causes this? my MMS worked fine on 4.1.2 but now on 4.3 whenever I attached a 8mp picture it says compressing, then says file too large must be emailed. Nothing has changed with picture quality as it works fine on 8mp when attaching to 4.1.2 mms.
thanks. oh also, i just upgraded my sim and change APN, if that could be an issue.

No one has this issue on 4.3?

I believe I had this same issue with an asop ROM some time ago. A third party SMS app solved/proved that it was something surrounding the native MMS app. Try a different app, then you can dig through what might be the cause from there. Is it leaked Sammy or akop/asop?

Samsung mi5 4.3 hurricane rom. I seem to be able to send pics under 2mb but anything over fails after compressing.

Mms on JB roms

I have been unable to receive mms messages on every JB rom with every modem and kernel out there while I AM NOT ON WIFI. Is there a fix for this I may have missed? They notify me but stay as "Downloading" permenantly?

I started with CM10 Nightly 0906 Nightly and I was in same boat. By clearing app data in settings I started receiving some of the pics. Still not able to get video. Will have some one try again tomm. Also I can't send video tells me "Message Size Limit Reached" "You can't add this video to your message"
So made some progress but not 100% yet! I have read all kinds of things. Also found this stuff but have not tried any of it yet and not sure any of it will help!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756464 Says for ICS so not sure.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622055 This one is for different carriers but maybe something useful. Got tired and going to bed so stopped reading!
Have a great night and hope we find a fix for it! Please keep us posted if you do!

Ya, I tried that to and it works for my Pics but still cant send or receive video. So who knows. I guess since a lot of people are not complaining it seems to be hit or miss!
Kind of like the photos in gallery. I here some complaints about old pics not showing up. But mine has been working perfect.
I am thinking about wiping everything and starting on the latest build just to see. But who knows!

On cm10 clean install with the first nightly onward, I've never been able to send or receive MMS until the following finally worked for me on sprint. YMMV:
Got mms working finally by deleting mms.db and telephony.db in /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony in databases folder (delete the 4 files in that directory). . I also happened to clear messaging app and phone app data by force stop and then clear data thru settings / apps / (scroll to rightmost category to find all apps / scroll down to find phone and messaging apps). Reboot Also did the voice dialer app --> open apns voice command and edit sprint mms proxy to 68.28.31.7 and mms port 80. Save (settings->save) and reboot. Not sure if all these steps needed or just first one.
UPDATE: It works but gets stuck again and requires a repeat of the above. Not sure this is really a fix.

Can receive mms from iphone. cannot receive from android

I have had this issue ever since I first flashed root box. When someone using an android sends me a picture (whether automatic retrieve is on or not) all that shows up is the grey box that usually surrounds the picture. If I send a pic from my iPhone, I receive the picture. I have always clean flashed and this happens on official and nightly builds of root box. I recently tried pa and I was able to receive pictures. Does anyone know if this is a known issue? Or something specific to me? -now on beanstalk and issue persists
Any suggestions would be appreciated. If you need any other info to actually be able to help me please ask and I'll gladly supply it.

I have now attached logcats. MMS.txt is when the MMS failed (from android phone), MMS2.txt is from when the MMS succeeded (from Iphone)
I can send MMS to anyone and it works.
Bump.
I have checked my APN settings (even though there is a lot of contradicting info about this, i tried it all) and still no luck.
Anyone? I love this rom but can't stand this. New update.. I can long press the message and save it to my gallery and view the picture there. I would much prefer a fix than a workaround tho.
I am now using beanstalk and I still have this issue! I can send no problem, but can only receive from I phones. Help someone!

[Q] AOKP mms not working (AT&T galaxy S3)

I just flashed the most recent AOKP on my AT&T GS3 and can't receive MMS. the issue is the same on the stock messaging app as well as handcent, my APN settings are all correct, and every other option that I've researched (here and elsewhere) yields no positive results. I didn't have an issue with an older version of AOKP, but I updated because other aspects of the ROM were getting a little glitchy. This version is much smoother, but now MMS isn't working. what the heck is going on?
unable to send recently as well...

Dirty flash?
Check your apn settings

clean flash, all apn settings are the same as before the flash
I believe the default sms app might not be compressing the image to fit your carriers mms limit. Try using a different sms app and see if it sends. If that's the problem you could use an alternative sms app or try decreasing your cameras quality to make the images smaller.
update: I did a factory reset, and mms started working again... for about a day. it then started doing the same things as before, so I'm totally lost. same issue arises whether I use handcent or the stock app. will attempt a third messaging app for the purpose of covering all bases
no other third party messaging apps work either. I can't think of anything else that could be an issue. any more help?
Had similar issues do you use ad blocker? Apparently it's a common issue ad blocker has

good heavens! I never would've guessed adblock plus would be affecting messaging! I disabled adblock and after a reboot was able to receive an mms. thank you for that little pearl of wisdom!

Took me forever to figure it out customized it how I wanted tested then had to add apps back one at a time until it stopped working my friend got really sick of getting mms from me while testing. It's a known issues listed on their Web page apparently the block port 80 and that's what mms goes thru

*Solved*Google messenger not sending images.

Running stock and unmodified edge.
No updates to uninstall. Don't want to uninstall and reinstall.
Searched around and found that the app has some issues with apn's, and that it's a Google issue but could not find an apn workaround.
It was fine a month ago, had sent some images to wife's note 4 that I had downloaded from Google images, still having the same images in the gallery I tried resending images, but now it fails to send, WiFi or regular data.
Size of image makes no difference, small, med, or large it doesn't want to send any image just text.
I can receive any image or video, not a problem receiving, just sending, even images that get sent to me thru messenger I can't send.
Any help will be appreciated. ?
Pp.
Could it be sim card related?
Pp.
No it was not sim card related, it was apn settings needed to be changed.
Don't know why but that's what fixed it.

Unable to attach file (MMS)

So, I've been using the Note 3 for the past 2 weeks and mms has been working fine. Up until this morning I tried to send a picture but I got the message saying "Unable to attach file" when the night before I sent the exact same picture to someone else. I have tried a restart, that didn't work.
Anyone have any ideas?
I have tried picking a differnet picture to send but now every picture says that same thing.
If it matters, I am using the Google Photos app, not the stock gallery.
I am also not rooted, on stock rom, stock everything basically.
Thanks for your help!
