Test it out for us:laugh:

HA. No lol

The test is meant to demonstrate that you're not screwed if you accidentally get water in/on your phone. It's not meant to demonstrate or to even say that this phone is waterproof.

I took mine in the shower with me and put it on the seat in there. It got wet, but wasn't completely submerged. The phone still works, no water damage that I can see. I don't know if I'd do it again, but I figured I'd try at least the shower lol.

So now we got two confirmations. Maybe we can get LG to confirm it as well? Can someone record a video of it under running water or inside a pool? If this is true, this is an amazing news and should've been a feature called out by LG against Samsung.
Sent from my LG-D851 using XDA Free mobile app

There's a water damage sticker clearly present on the side of the battery area. I highly doubt they made it a hidden feature. It may do well to protect itself, but i still don't trust it in water until there's more evidence of it not being harmful.
Sent from my LG G3

I kinda like that they didn't mention it. People won't be idiots with their phones, but if something does go crashingly wrong there's protection in place. I really do wonder how many people have been downright stupid with their S5's because of commercials showing them being dropped in the ocean and whatnot.

My case keeps it waterproof, so I am good to go.... I think, lol!

I used mine in a rain storm the other day with no concern or issue. I've done that with all my phones, camera, tablets, etc though and never have had an issue in my life.

There is a video. Maybe LG put most of the waterproofing features in place but couldn't get the certification they wanted and scrapped it?

Who removed their "Digital by Qualcomm" sticker

Its on the top left of the device. Just curious because i always forget about this "digital by Qualcomm" sticker until sometimes months of having a device. I just removed it and now i have a matted spot i can't get to shine! Ahhh! Lol I'm sure it'll work itself out tho.
So who likes it, who hates it and who could give a rats a**?

Yeah I typically remove mine the minute they show any lift from the casing, which is usually pretty early on. The few times I waited longer to remove them I did end up with a sticky spot, drove me insane.
Lol I just took mine off last night. I removed my tpu case and saw it starting to pull up so I just took it off. Had the phone since November

I removed mine. Stickers annoy me. Just rub the residue off if any is left behind, and you're good to go!
Of course I remove all stickers, for this exact reason, that in a few months down the road, it will look stupid when you remove it.
My phone has lived in various cases since day 1, never noticed it
a little off-topic, but my wifes aunt and uncle always leave the stickers on all there new appliances. They recently bought a couple new flatscreens and refuse to take the stickers off the screens and base of the tvs and it annoys the piss out of me.

I don't see any sticker at all so I must have taken it off when I got my E4GT in back October.

[Q] water indicator SG2

Does anyone know if there is more then 1 water indicator on our SG2? And if so where? Can Tmobile actually open the phone apart and see if there was water damage to the phone besides looking at the water mark(s)?

No, t-mobile isn't going to open it.

theoretical. so is there only 1 water mark?
There is the one under the battery which tmobile will check out. There are internal water detectors i believe that the manufacturer should check out if lets say you send it to samsung instead of tmobile. Not quite sure how thorough tmobile is as far as that goes. Better safe that sorry though. I like how people jump to the conclusion that by asking a question they are trying to scam t-mobile. LOL

Very unlikely although it is possible. It would be hard for them to say for certain that any discoloration on labels or anything was caused from liquid. 99% of the components inside the phone cannot be damaged by water unless there is power applied while wet. It the liquid acting as a conductor and shorting pins together that ruins the phone. That is why if you dry a phone well no damage occurs.
We wash all our circuit boards in a dishwasher and dry them before final test, to remove flux and resin, you cain't tell when they are dry that they have been washed.
how about if someone was selling me a phone and i wanted to make sure it was not water damage just because they change the water mark indicator behind the battery?! I have bought other phones then realized it was water damage when i tried to get warranty to cover it (iphone) pretty much got screwed over.
I wanted to know the very same thing when Telus gave me back my phone unrepaired saying that there was water-damage. I was angry because I had never wet the phone and the external indicators were clean.
I yelled and complained and the crappy shop they sent it to sent back photos of my phone's board. They circled some dirt/salt or something, but there were no internal indicators that I saw. When I contacted Samsung directly they fixed it for me and apologized for the 'confusion'.
If your external indicators are clean, then you can always argue that this proves you used your phone properly and normally (and kept it out of water). If internal indicators show liquid, its evidence of some kind of defect that the phone is unable to vent the humidity or something. I think this would stand in small claims court.

By your logic, OP is payed for the phone , he should be covered no matter what. Or he payed for insurance and should be covered even if the phone was dropped in a toilet.
and anyways, maybe he's buying a used phone and wants to check if its damaged. Cant just assume fraud
Either way, its best not to submit a claim if there has been any damage to the device. The fee can get a little large, usually more than the php claim

So he magically goes from recording a video of the S3 to recording FROM the S3 with no cuts, the whole time you can hear him, and then goes back to the recording of the S3 that was supposedly dropped in water? Really now?

Exactly. I saw this a while ago and wondered what was the point. Did the OP completely overlook that this phone is loaded with moisture indicators?
I saw another video like this and apparently the nano coating covers the water damage tags too. So when your phone gets wet the tags don't turn red or orange. However the nano coating has its flaws and your phone will probably get water damage regardless.
The stupid nerd in the video I saw used his own phone in the water test and then cried when it fried...

Ouch dude. I'm sorry that happened...I would be crying if that happened to me. It sounds like a lot of water is inside the phone and would take quiet a while for the rice to do its job. Make sure to not keep the device powered on. Remove the battery ASAP and then toss the phone in a bag of rice and let it sit for a few days. You could try setting it in front of a fan too for a few hours/days. I'm surprised the phone didn't short out yet.

Keeping the phone powered on and trying to charge it was by far the worst thing to do. You should have removed the battery right when you got it from outside and put it into rice or let it air-dry for a long time. Obviously it's too late now but for the future just remember that for any of your electronics.
Sucks about the stripped screw. Been there done that lots of times. Those kinds of screws require a really good screwdriver.
