I converted to Full GPE and I'm happy with it so far. Before the conversion I made a stock nandroid. I have also made a GPE NANDROID backup with all my settings and apps.
My question is: Can I just restore the stock backup through Twrp or do I have to go through the conversion process back to stock before restoring my backup. I ask this before because the GPE conversion changed the partition size. I don't know if the can cause issues with what I'm trying to do.
I just think it will be pretty cool if I can just switch backups whenever I feel like through TWRP. Plus I'm in a situation where I like using both the GPE and Stock sense.
Please let me know .
Thanks again.

You must convert back to sense but the gpe backup will work in sense.

because your partition size is locked. sense partition size is larger. Go ahead and try and it will fail. Zero advantage to converting to gpe. There is a sense rom that runs on gpe. Team nocturnal made one that is stripped down to work on gpe partition.
OK got it. So I can convert to my stock and then use either of my nandroid backup for whichever one I feel. Thanks mate.

I have used nand to backup my stock build and settings and then to restore after trying out a custom ROM. I know THAT works. My question is, can you restore custom Roms just the same way? I'm sure this is elementary, but I wanted to know before I did it just in case it wouldn't work if I backed one up.
What I am trying to do is restore back to Skyraider v1.9. I had to do a restore to stock last night because Pandora was sounding like crap and mixzing wasn't finding all of my albums and I really just needed music. BUT I like how skyraider is running otherwise and would like to go back to it until the OFFICIAL Froyo is out. I just don't want to lose all of my settings in case I end up reverting to stock again for something.
Also would it hurt my phone to do so many restores? Not like I'm doing it a lot, but I have done maybe 4 restores in as many days this week.
Thanks in advance for info
I RUU'ed back to stock so verizon could check my battery. Then did a nandroid restore to get back to SkyRaider 1.9 no problem.

Wondering if i install Leedroids HTC Sense 3.0 All in 1 and decide i dont like it, Is it easy to revert back to the standard Leedroid?
Or would i need to reflash the Rom? (Full Wipe Needed?)
Anyone?

My opinion is:
Always perform a full wipe when making big changes, like flashing from Sense 2.1 to Sense 3.0 and back.
Perform in recovery a Nandroid backup and you can flash your old working ROM back with all the settings correct.
I also recommend that you perform with Titanium backup a backup of your personal stuff.. Always comes in handy.
I will be installing a rom from this site http://galnetmiui.co.uk/landing/stables/ . I know i will need to be changing hboot but what hboot would be best for this rom? thanks
The link you provided doesn't list Desire as a supported device.
Oh wait what the hell is Desire G7?!

edit: scratch that, see post below....
htc desire g7 seems to be a cheap Chinese clone of the standard desire... why that's supported and not standard desires is beyond me? :S

All HTC android devices have a g number. The HTC desire is the G7. It is NOT a Chinese clone. However Chinese clones tend to use the "g7" badge for identification. G7 is official.

You dont need to change Hboot, that rom will work perfectly well on the stock Hboot. but if you are wanting more spaces for apps, I recommend cm7r2.
As always before any changes, remember to do a complete nadroid backup before flashing hboot. and you can always switch back to stock. Bear in mind that once you have flashed your new Hboot your current nandroid backup may not work on cm7r2 depending on what ROM it is.

It would be best to nandroid backup current rom, flash New rom. Nandroid backup new rom, flash new hboot. Then if needs be, nandroid restore new rom.
Hey guys i just updated to the ICS 8.5 final final version, i just wanna know if i want to switch back to the CM7 can i copy the rom onto my sdcard install the zip file through the recovery mod? Or do i have to make a restore to the cm7?
I am a bit confused wanna clear that up a little

You could have used the same thread buddy
Either way is fine with any rom.
You can mske a backup of whatever you are using, flash a new rom and then revert to the backup if you want.
Or you can just start all over and flash another rom. You need to full wipe always.

I've never found any bugs with a nandroid backup and have used it on multiple devices.
Sometimes if you restore app data using something like titanium you can get probs depending on the rom but nandroid backups are fine.
last time i used nandroid on sabsa prime 3.0 i got bootloop... just wanted to warn prospect since lots of people got those problems even with nandroid.

So technically the only time one should perform a nandroid backup is when he/she wants to switch back to the stock fimware otherwise "install zip from sdcard" is better

No.
You can make a nandroid backup anytime you want and restore it. It is advisable to make backups before flashing anything to the phone. Mods, scripts, etc. Just in case something goes wrong. That way yoy can go back right where you left it.
The other member, seems to have been talking about that particular rom, however strange it may sound. And there is always the possibility that in that case, either the member did something wrong or it was an isolated case.
