Sure, but you'll lose root. Just wait until a developer cooks gingerbread into your favorite ROM.

You should always wipe when flashing a new ROM. Just back up all your apps with titanium backup or mybackup pro. Your contacts should be back up'd by Google.
No. well you can use apps like Titanium Backup, that you can use to backup any apps and their data, but other than that, you just need to sign back in to e-mail and gmail and fb,twitter, ect...
Use your Nandroid

If you're fully rooted with recovery, reboot your phone while holding the volume down button and you should be in either the Amon-Ra or Clockworkmod recovery.
From there explore your menus a bit, and you'll find a place to do a Nandroid backup.
Do that - it will literally back up everything - your kernel, your stock ROM, your apps, your data, all to a nandroid image file on your SDCard.
Then you can wipe everything in your recovery and flash whatever you want.
Now you can play with other ROMS, learn to flash alternatives and such, and if you ever need/want to go back to how it was, just go back into recovery and choose a Nandroid restore.
Also if you use clockwork nand you can restore your apps after youve changed the rom. Flash your current rom first, then wipe everything the new rom needs you to. After flashing the new rom to the nandroid and select advanced restore. Select data and your done. Reboot and enjoy.

If your going to back up your rom to flash another one use RA recovery to wipe and backup your phone. Clockworkmod does not do a proper wipe of your phone and will leave remnants of your old rom on your phone.

I lost u guys . Lol ;-)
I'm new to this & not sure exactly how to do it .
I rooted my Evo with UnrEVOked 3
& using the stock 2.2 Froyo Rom
I followed the rooting process from a YouTube video & I did back up during the root process .
I'm not sure what's a nandroid & I think I had to go through some part that had clockwork mod but again as I said I'm not sure what it is . ( I'm sill a rookie with this sorry )
What should I do next ? Did I back up the stock Rom properly via UnrEVOked 3 rooting method ?

HTC Desire HD Won't startup anymore

Hi all,
Today I installed HDRevo 2.0.11, before this I had 2.0.8. Made a backup and wiped data and cache. When I launched my phone I noticed that all my apps ect. where gona so I thought if I restore the backup I can backup my apps too with titanium. However I reinstalled the restore point, but now my phone won't launch anymore. It stays at the green HTC logo and nothing happens :S
Is there anybody that would be able to help me?
Thanx!
If I were you,I'd reinstall 2.0.11 from scratch first. If it boots ok we go on.Then,go to recovery. When in recovery,go to backup-restore(or whatever it's called)/advanced restore and select to restore only data.See if that works.
When flashing new roms backups or new you need to also do an erase and clear dalvic cache from recovery.

Did you possibly install CWM 3.0.0.5?
I had the same problem last night.
Solution, reflash CWM 2.5. Then restore.

Backup + Restore Nandroid

Ive got my Desire setup pretty good but want to try some new roms out.
it was rooted using revoked and running clockwork recovery v2.5.0.7.
Can i just do a Nandroid backup and restore it no problem if i dont like the new roms? or do i need my desire s-off?
You can just restore providing you have backed up the stock rom.
S-OFF not needed. Just backup and experiment away!

Reverting from Sense 3.0

Wondering if i install Leedroids HTC Sense 3.0 All in 1 and decide i dont like it, Is it easy to revert back to the standard Leedroid?
Or would i need to reflash the Rom? (Full Wipe Needed?)
Anyone?

My opinion is:
Always perform a full wipe when making big changes, like flashing from Sense 2.1 to Sense 3.0 and back.
Perform in recovery a Nandroid backup and you can flash your old working ROM back with all the settings correct.
I also recommend that you perform with Titanium backup a backup of your personal stuff.. Always comes in handy.

Nandroid backup GPE and Stock

I converted to Full GPE and I'm happy with it so far. Before the conversion I made a stock nandroid. I have also made a GPE NANDROID backup with all my settings and apps.
My question is: Can I just restore the stock backup through Twrp or do I have to go through the conversion process back to stock before restoring my backup. I ask this before because the GPE conversion changed the partition size. I don't know if the can cause issues with what I'm trying to do.
I just think it will be pretty cool if I can just switch backups whenever I feel like through TWRP. Plus I'm in a situation where I like using both the GPE and Stock sense.
Please let me know .
Thanks again.

You must convert back to sense but the gpe backup will work in sense.

So need to convert to sense to enable restore from both backup. I don't understand as to why I can't do it without converting back to sense. Any ideas

because your partition size is locked. sense partition size is larger. Go ahead and try and it will fail. Zero advantage to converting to gpe. There is a sense rom that runs on gpe. Team nocturnal made one that is stripped down to work on gpe partition.
OK got it. So I can convert to my stock and then use either of my nandroid backup for whichever one I feel. Thanks mate.
