HTC sense backing up help

I have been using the stock froyo htc sense rom for a while, i have everything on there, contacts configutations saves..etc........is there anyway to backup my data and the restore them on another htc sense rom(im using aurax)

yes do a nandroid, then use the advanced restore function to just restore data and sd-ext

Update a Rooted HTC Evo with stock Rom to Gingerbread

Will I be able to Update a Rooted HTC Evo with stock Froyo 2.2 Rom to Gingerbread 2.3 through sprint update ?
I rooted my phone with UnrEVOked about 2 weeks ago , so I'm still in a learning the hole rooting process .

Sure, but you'll lose root. Just wait until a developer cooks gingerbread into your favorite ROM.

You should always wipe when flashing a new ROM. Just back up all your apps with titanium backup or mybackup pro. Your contacts should be back up'd by Google.

No. well you can use apps like Titanium Backup, that you can use to backup any apps and their data, but other than that, you just need to sign back in to e-mail and gmail and fb,twitter, ect...

If you're fully rooted with recovery, reboot your phone while holding the volume down button and you should be in either the Amon-Ra or Clockworkmod recovery.
From there explore your menus a bit, and you'll find a place to do a Nandroid backup.
Do that - it will literally back up everything - your kernel, your stock ROM, your apps, your data, all to a nandroid image file on your SDCard.
Then you can wipe everything in your recovery and flash whatever you want.
Now you can play with other ROMS, learn to flash alternatives and such, and if you ever need/want to go back to how it was, just go back into recovery and choose a Nandroid restore.

Also if you use clockwork nand you can restore your apps after youve changed the rom. Flash your current rom first, then wipe everything the new rom needs you to. After flashing the new rom to the nandroid and select advanced restore. Select data and your done. Reboot and enjoy.

If your going to back up your rom to flash another one use RA recovery to wipe and backup your phone. Clockworkmod does not do a proper wipe of your phone and will leave remnants of your old rom on your phone.

I'm new to this & not sure exactly how to do it .
I rooted my Evo with UnrEVOked 3
& using the stock 2.2 Froyo Rom
I followed the rooting process from a YouTube video & I did back up during the root process .
I'm not sure what's a nandroid & I think I had to go through some part that had clockwork mod but again as I said I'm not sure what it is . ( I'm sill a rookie with this sorry )
What should I do next ? Did I back up the stock Rom properly via UnrEVOked 3 rooting method ?

[Q] how to uninstall a flashed .zip theme?

I am running CM7 RC4 on an htc desire Z from bell.
I just flashed mattedblues .zip and it is not working properly for me (probably because it was for rc3 and not rc4) so is there a way to uninstall it or flash the standard cm7 rc4 theme overtop of it?

Did you do a nandroid before you flashed? If you didn't you really should get in the habbit before flash anything. If there iis no nandroid best bet is to wipe cache the reflash the ROM

He is right, but if it's easier for you flash a theme that is for rc3 and you'll be fine after catch wipe.

1. Always make a nandroid backup before flashing something, think of it like doing a Ctrl-z.
2. Alternatively, you can just re-flash your rom again. (If you're on CM7 RC4, just re-flash it, and you should be good)
But seriously, nandroid backups. If you don't have much SD Card space, just delete your old one before making a new one (real easy to do all from Rom Manager)

[Q] Is it ok to reinstall a rom without clearing anything?

I flashed Sandvold's ICS 0.8.1 yesterday, but after reading a few threads today I saw that it's better to do the custom install instead of the typical one. I did a nandroid and decided to simply flash the rom again without clearing anything.
It seems fine so far, but I'm wondering if this can lead to any problems?
Also, do I need to reinstall a2sd after re-flashing?

I think that if you downgrade from ics to gb than you need to make a full wipe but if you upgrade than I think it's ok

If you are with the exact same rom then a wipe shouldn't be needed and a2sd should stay if you don't wipe.

Try it and if it doesn't work do a full wipe I've never seen anyone say you'll break your phone if you don't wipe. Someone on Sandvold's thread recommended app extractor from play store as an easy way to restore after a full wipe. Didn't work for me but I only tried it once so you could check that out. It just restores everything from your nandroid

If u are flashing the same rom (newer version) u still have to wipe dalvik. Its better anyway just to do a backup then full wipe and flash the rom then restore

Always wipe Dalvik, sometimes, the rom setup menu does it automaticly.

ICS 8.5 to CM7

Hey guys i just updated to the ICS 8.5 final final version, i just wanna know if i want to switch back to the CM7 can i copy the rom onto my sdcard install the zip file through the recovery mod? Or do i have to make a restore to the cm7?
I am a bit confused wanna clear that up a little

You could have used the same thread buddy
Either way is fine with any rom.
You can mske a backup of whatever you are using, flash a new rom and then revert to the backup if you want.
Or you can just start all over and flash another rom. You need to full wipe always.

I've never found any bugs with a nandroid backup and have used it on multiple devices.
Sometimes if you restore app data using something like titanium you can get probs depending on the rom but nandroid backups are fine.

last time i used nandroid on sabsa prime 3.0 i got bootloop... just wanted to warn prospect since lots of people got those problems even with nandroid.

So technically the only time one should perform a nandroid backup is when he/she wants to switch back to the stock fimware otherwise "install zip from sdcard" is better

No.
You can make a nandroid backup anytime you want and restore it. It is advisable to make backups before flashing anything to the phone. Mods, scripts, etc. Just in case something goes wrong. That way yoy can go back right where you left it.
The other member, seems to have been talking about that particular rom, however strange it may sound. And there is always the possibility that in that case, either the member did something wrong or it was an isolated case.
