I am using a Samsung Galaxy Note II. Weeks ago I dropped my phone by accident (which caused the dead pixels). There are a few black lines and small dots near the bottom left of the screen. I heard about a method when you put it in the freezer and it gets rid of the dead pixels. I've read other posts about people having the same problem and there were others saying the freezer method works like a charm. I tried for two nights but no results can anyone give me a step by step instruction with the freezer method please? I wanna get this problem fixed as it is annoying and I cannot get it fixed at repair shops as someone who works at one told me they cannot fix it because its not Australian model and is from overseas.
Also, does it matter if the screen protector stays on or do I need to remove it for when I put it in the freezer?
Thanks guys.
Hello anyone?
Somebody please respond!!.......

My Hermes 8525 display has gone fully white.. I cant see or do anything on it.. Anyone got any idea why this is so ??

typed in " white screen hermes" and came up with a heap of links... heres 1 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2254487
Did the display fade to white? Or did you turn your screen back on and find it was all white?
There's a known problem for HTC Hermes with the D-pas causing white screen, and a little mod to fix it by putting something behind the D-Pad itself such as a small very thin piece of foam. Obviously this requires taking your mobile apart.
If you flashed and then got a white screen I'd try getting into your bootloader and take it from there....

Hi,
had the same problem. I took the battery out (read this in one post somewhere here) and then everything went ok. I also saw the post about the dpad, but was not nessesary. Although I think I was just lucky. I think that it happens often, you should do that.
Regards,
They display faded into White.. It was working fine. one fine day, as i was replying to a text message.. or when searching phone book.. or any action.. slowly the entire screen faded into white.. once i did a restart and removed the battery a cpl of times and it seemed ok.. but now its permanently white.. i cant even enter boot logger mode.. or even if i did, i wont know or cant see that i am in bootlogger mode...
Any ideas??

1st, scuse please 1st post, bad day at work...
1. Does it get hot anywhere on the front of the hermes. A mate of mine had a capacitor burn out that caused white screen...
2. Try opening the keypad then reseting. This worked for mine BUT it is a pressure issue and as I closed it found that touching a certain spot in the bottom right corner of the casing would make it whitescreen again.
Other than that you might have to open up your hermes to try and fix...
Heres how to open up :http://michael-channon.spaces.live.com/PersonalSpace.aspx?_c02_owner=1
Make sure you have the correct tools though as it makes life easier. No. 6 torque key and a flat bladed screwdriver are good..
Cheers...
I just had the same problem on my TyTN. Everything but the cover and battery was replaced in warranty and now it is solved. It seem to be the connectors to the screen that crack.

Read the thread for this and see if you are having the same problem as many of these people. It helped me figure my own problem out a lot. Good luck

This is the same thing that happened to me At&T told me it was the D-pad because that broke before my white screen issue and they replaced it for me
white screen probs
had the same problem on a few hermes now....replaced the screen to no availl....after many other trials i replaced the circuit board under the d-pad and problem sloved.....i havnt got the know how to test the board for faults but i would agree that the board is the problem any one know what the function of the part is exactly....screen controller????
screws...
I had the same problem and was able to fix it temporarily using the foam-behind-the-Dpad-connector trick several (like 6 or 7) times but it always went white again within a few days. I finally got it to stick by loosening the tiny screws on the connector very slightly...haven't had a problem since. I'm not entirely convinced it wasn't just completely luck though. But seriously after so many times trying different thicknesses of foam and banging my head against the wall, I'm glad something worked. And now I can take it apart and put it back together in about 7 minutes, so that's a bonus! Might be worth a try if the foam thing doesn't work. Good luck.

Hey thanks all you guys.. I guess its the D-Pad connector issue.. will follow the resolution suggestions.. I will let you know if that helped...
mine fades to white everyonce in a while then comes back or i have to take the battery out and all is fine. it did it when i put wm6.1 on it. was perfect before i did that.
hi there
ive been having this issue for ages and have opened my handset to reseat the connector no fewer than 14 times in the last 2 weeks
today i had a breakthrough though,
what i did was completely cleaned the connectors using rubbing alcohol and a q-tip
the important bit: RESEAT the connector properly. it may look like its reseated but look at it side on and it should be perfectly flat, and if necessary push on it a little to make sure its seated
then, on the back cover (which you removed to get access to th d-pad) you'll notice a little rectangle 'pad' there roughly in the same place as the d-pad connector
get a white sticky label, or a post-it note or whatever and stick a little piece over that
then seal your phone back up and it should work.
i cant promise anything though, and any damage you do to your phone is entirely your responsibility
Hey guys i need some help please.
I opened my phone up a few weeks ago to blow out some dust that got in behind the screen. But when I put it all back together again. The phone wouldn't boot, but somehow i got it going again. But since then, whilst using the phone the screen will randomly stop responding and then the phone itself will just crash,
Now, when I go to reboot (I have to take battery out and back in) HTC spalshscreen comes on then the screen just slowly goes off within 15 secs (my splash screen is usually on for about 20 secs and the miui splash comes on straight after when working).
I have to keep rebooting until the phone comes on and then it would work fine for 1-2 days before it plays up again.
If trawled through similar problem but still can find an answer. Please help me out guys, I need to get my phone working again as I can't afford a new one as good as this.
If it helps I have been running on miui xj for about 8 months
Many thanks in advance
Hi i read the other day in the desire s threads and when u took the lcd screen off the digitizer (front of the phone) did u damage the tape glue around the edge that holds them both together? Because if u damage it even the slightest bit it and theres the tiniest gap, it will cause the screen to not work properly and give faulse/positive touchs and the phone to not work correct. Maybe this is not ur problem but i thought id say.

Well you theory does make sense, I didn't actually take the digitizer out but I did notice looking through the screen that theres a little gap there thats allowing all the dust to get in there. I have reinstalled ROMs a couple of times now but its still hit and miss. So you could be very right as I don't know what else the problem can be.
Thanks for the response cos I never would have thought of that. I'm gonna strip it properly now and hope to fix it :good:
Nope im still having problems. I reinstall the the rom and itll be ok for a few weeks maybe then itll go on the blink again.
Im starting to wonder if there an issue with the software somewhere. But ive been using this rom for ages and not had a problem with it untill now
My screen started having all those kind of dead spots where i just couldn't use anymore, and the touch would just jump to the closest area around the dead spot.
I was looking all over for solutions and most of the solutions I've read about (Factory reset and so on) were no effective.
Anyway, I saw this video "Lg g2 ghost touch and dead spot on the Touchscreen" where in one of the comments one guy suggested using the spark mechanism of lighters to give a few sparks to the screen.
I put a coin on the dead spot of the screen and gave a few hits with the sparky thing and it actually worked!!!
I hope this could be helpful to other users, although I have absolutely no idea how it works, but it did. I'm amazed.
So I have had my G3 32gb version for almost a year and this problem popped out of no where 4 days ago. I did exactly what you did and to my surprise it worked lol.:good::good::good:

an or not i hae his issue since today, he touch doesnt respond totally and the only thing i can do is turn on and turn off the screen on rear buttons, and sure i have to press it about 8 seconds to reboot the devide and then the touchscreen is working fine, but after some 1h of sleep screen it dont respond again...i dont know if this are the same problem of yours but is very annoying!
you need to dismantle a " press to spark " lighter and remove the piezoelectric spark generator ( small black bar with a wire in the middle ) , spray some window cleaner on the touchscreen and put a finger along the edge of the display while sparking on the dead spots . the current will go through the screen into your finger .
And your dead spot or dead strip is gone by doing this?
I purchased lg g3 from olx and didnt check it properly whn i bought it home the screen test show a long dead strip i used a coin and put it on the screen and give 2 3 spark with a lighter and it worked my dead strip work again lpoint to b noted i didnt switch off mobile i do it on a battry thank u so much i was going to change my degitizer
wow you are genius thanks very much
Holy ... This totaly works huge THANKS
Hello guys!
I just wanted to ask you about the safety precautions. I mean should i remove the battery or just turn off the phone or the process can be done when the phone is on?
I was totally skeptical about this, but one click on the piezo ignition and back to life! Battery left on, and had my drawing program open.
im totally confused, is there a video showing a process of this? this sounds very dangerous.. lighter.. ignition, fire
Hi I also have LG G3 and face same dead spot issue on my screen, after reading this I tried spark mechanism and its worked, but again after sometime same problem is occurred. Is there any permanent solution for this
Didn't work on me. Is there some special requirement before doing this?
Hello guys!
Background
___________________________________
I'm here to report a sad thing that is happening to me. I'll try to keep it short.
I bought my Zenfone 2 64/4 and got it by first days of october. It's one of the best and fastest phones I've ever used. I noticed the display came defective with the lower left corner a little dimmer than the rest of it, but I couldn't care less because increasing brightness would solve my problem. The bad part was on about december or january when I dropped my phone, I did drop it twice: it slipped from my hands the first time but it was a light fall of like 30 cm; and the second was from greater height and so intense it got scratches on the back cover and the frame, (the impact was on the case and it got no scratches, none at all, like ZERO) but the screen remained intact.
After that second fall, maybe a couple of weeks later, I started to notice a weird color "seeping" and some vertical lines. The screen tarted to look like a painting on a canvas which got splashed with water and the colors started to "fall" and merge with the ones below.
I've been living with my screen like that for like 4 months now and no problem at all, I was thinking about buying a new lcd replacement. But wanyway.... now for the important part.
Problem
________________________________________
Now, after I opened my phone and tried to "connect" the loose cables from the screen (after an impact, it's possible the cables to ge loose), noticed that the screen didn't get better and that problem was not going to disappear. After a failed attempt to repair it, I sealed the phone again and some days passed (like less than 4). Suddenly, I notice weird glitches on the screen and uninstalled CyanogenMod 13 and reverted back to ZenUI, since I though CM 13 was causing the graphic glitches. After restoring ZenUI, I notice the glitches are still present and it's driving me crazy. It only happens on a certain portion of the screen, the top of it is working correctly. Aaaaand, to feed my paranoia, I've seen picture on Google of dead graphics cards and those weird glitches are similar to mine
TL;DR

I am scared, I want the problem to be the screen and not the GPU; if it's the GPU (or CPU), I am screwed. This phone was supposed to be my girl's gift after I got an LG G4. Gonna upload a video later, so you can see the problem. :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:
Why don't you submit you Asus at service center ??
I don't think they will ever help me since I rooted my phone and installed CM. Void warranty.

Flash the black splashscreen zip through whichever recovery you use first in case you still have the white asus splash screen indicating your bootloader is unlocked. Try and flash stock rom on your phone and remove root through Supersu app after this and hope they don't check if your bootloader is unlocked as that's what counts. Take it back to the shop. All the best

Actually, I don't have an USA address. ASUS loves USA but not México nor South America. Bad luck for me.
Proof
Here's a proof that this display is acting B-A-D-L-Y.
I've owned this M9 for about a week now, its the AT&T variant. This is a 2nd line use phone and rarely sees much use so the white line issue occurred when phone was not in use.
This happened earlier today after being in my pocket for a hour or so, then phone sit on my desk for about an hour before I picked it back up and there was bad white lines running up and down the screen even in the boot animation. But then after about an hour they are now completely gone. I did see a few reddit posts about it but didnt see much info other than it went away.
Anyone else run into this? Any ideas?
I can still return the device which I may end up doing. Just was about to buy S-off today
Thanks!
It happened to me twice but lines used to vanish after about an hour. Honestly i don't know why but mine has almost 2 years.
It's hardware problem for sure. Either:
a) display screen defect
b) motherboard defect (GPU probably)
c) some loose connector (unlikely tbh..)
