Hi,
I really miss daydream since having the quickcircle case.
You can turn on daydream but once you close the door it turns the screen off. If the screen could somehow be set to stay on when in daydream mode Im sure it would be very easy to make a quick circle daydream using an existing daydream app that supports themes.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

I have never understood the point of daydream, but i'm really interested in new clocks and apps for the QuickCircle.

I'm hoping this will come in a future update or mod. I would like to see the circle clock through the case at all times while charging...I am a bit surprised this was not integrated with daydream at launch. Also hoping other apps will support quick circle like Spotify. Though to be honest, since i'm also using android wear, I'm not going to get much use out of the case other than screen protection and wireless charging most of the time.

the problem is that we don't know where the quickcircle main ui is being saved once that is found it would be a lot easier (my guess is lgsystemui or lglockscreen, but I don't have the time to investigate)

I'm trying to auto-start the desk clock in screensaver mode using tasker.
Basically, I want to replicate starting the (stock) clock app, then long-pressing on it, so that the clock turns blue (I don't want it to dim, which would be a short-press).
I'm attempting to do this using an Action Intent, but so far I have failed miserably.
Any help would be appreciated.
I can create a separate version of the clock that could do that. Any other requests?
Edit: I mean I can build it right into the clock app itself
That would be great. Thank you.
I've managed to create a Component Intent that starts the screensaver, but the actual clock isn't displayed, even if the clock app is already open.

I'm going to create a thread later in the themes and app section with the modified clock app. Would be fun to get some input and modify the app according to user suggestions. Just as a fun project.
Btw I will build al those modifications right into the app itself. (Maybe add some intent "listeners" later)

Actually, here's another request!
Would you be able to include the ability for the screensaver-clock to auto-display after the phone has been face-up for a certain period of time (e.g. 30 seconds), and for it to revert back to the home screen when the orientation changes (i.e. it is picked up).

Lol.. can you describe this in more specific words. What exactly is the scenario here? You have the phone laying flat on your desk and want to launch the desktop clock after 30 secs and if you pick it up it should quit the clock and go to the home screen? Is that it?

Sounds interesting. So you think this is generally useful? Do you have your phone plugged to a power source when you have it on your desk? I'm wondering how the battery drain is when you do this without external power and just a all black screen with only the digits of the clock.
Well I've come from using a Dell Streak, and compared to that, the GN battery seems to last forever!
If the battery is low, I can always turn the screen off, but my phone auto-syncs to my laptop using samba, and I can't access my phone from my computer if the screen lock is on.
My thinking is that having the screensaver active will drain less battery than displaying the homescreen constantly.

Edit: I can't access my phone from my laptop if the screen is off, the screen-lock doesn't seem to make any difference.

Nice nice... for amoled screens the drain would be even less because the black pixels consumes nearly no power. I'll give it a try. I agree it would be a nice thing to have a clock continuously displayed when the phone is laying around doing nothing.
Good luck!
Guys - I know this is an old thread, but the original suggestion is exactly what I'm trying to achieve.
Was anything done on this?
Thanks.

I don't think so
I'm trying to find a decent desk/night/alarm clock app to use with my Nexus. I'd like to just totally get rid of my alarm clock radio and just use my phone. There's plenty of them out there, but the problem I'm having is finding one that has a decent screen saver function. I want to be able to see the clock through the night, but have it dim the screen and rotate the clock face around so it doesn't burn in on the screen.
Wakevoice is "almost" what I am looking for. The clock dims and rotates around the screen, but the navigation buttons don't turn off or dim at all.
Any suggestions? Or should I not worry about screen burn in with this phone?
What's wrong with the stock clock app? It does everything on your wish list.

I agree, I ditched my alarm clock a couple months ago and use the stock deskclock apk for my alarm/nightclock. It does everything needed and mentioned above.

Try doubletwist alarm. i m happy with it so far

The Doubletwist Alarm looks amazing, only thing, I might not be looking in the right settings but, I can't find an option to keep the screen awake in the app. That would make this app near perfect...

Has anybody ported the DayDream mode from 4.2 to non 4.2 phones? If you are not sure what that mode is here is a link explaining it.
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Feature-Android-4.2-Daydream-mode_id36641
I have Llama setup to do this for me right now. I have an event that is triggered by the phone being plugged into the charger and it lauches the Clock application (I installed the 4.2 Clock). The problem I have is I manually have to put the clock into "Night Mode" and while its not a big deal, it looks like the DayDream mode would do all this for me. Also if my phone is locked the Clock application doesnt override the lock screen (It did when I had my GNex setup the same way).
try this, it may help u...

The title is pretty much self-explanatory. Is there a way to set Quick Circle Clock as Daydream but without actually having the Quick Circle case? I don't like the default daydream clock and the quick circle clock is just beautiful but I don't like to use cases on my phone.
Yes, a very good idea but I think LG wants the sales of it's Quick Window cases to stay high so that's why they didn't add it to the DayDream setting originally. Hopefully they will do it in a future update?

If you put a magnet on the left of the screen near center while phone screen off it will enable circle clock

Anyone find a way to do this on the G3 or G4 even?
I don't know how, but two times happened with me that the clock appeared.
First time my wife just put down the phone onto the table, second time I just took it out from my pocket.
Firstly I didn't know what I see, but after some search on the internet I recognized that it is the quick circle clock.
I've checked it and found that it's enabled in the settings.
I don't know how it could happen, but I think somehow my phone recognized something like a quick circle case.
I don't know which sensor is used by the case, I have tried to hide the front sensors, I tried to use my Samsung S4 case too, but I couldn't reproduce it.

Introducing Pixel Pulse - a simple app to make your Ambient Display pulse when you have notifications!
Choose the interval and select the apps you want you to cause your screen to wake.
Optional paid features let you select different icons and colors for specific apps but the interval and app filter core functionality is all free.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.compass.pixelpulse
If you had previously purchased Ambi-Turner, it has been updated for the new permissions, but because it was written for 8.0 and when Google's ambient display worked differently I decided to leave it as it is. You may however transfer your purchase status of Ambient Display to Pixel Pulse using both apps.

Paid customization adds the ability to always pulse (with a view that shows you that you have no important notifications), and the ability to select icons and colors for specific applications.
Screenshots are difficult because you can't screenshot the ambient display. I'll need to try and take actual photographs.
Seems like the settings don't save. Just updated the app and everything is set to pulse even though I removed some stuff :S

This is awesome. But is there a way you can maybe make the icon only pulse and be custom colors? Without showing the actual notification text? That would be amazing! But bought the paid one and I am using it now looks good on the wireless charger. :good:

Thanks, I bought you a beer. Changing the time internal doesn't seem to work. I've tried 30 seconds and it's only 5 before it pulses again. Same thing with any other time I try, it pulses after only 5 seconds.

The update somewhat fixed the timing issue but it still is off by 5 seconds. When setting the internal to 20 seconds it pulses after 15 seconds.
Edit: It seems that the timer starts when the notification pops up not when the notification disappears. Is this the way it is intended to work?
