Hardware buttons not working? - Oppo Find 7 and 7a

My hardware buttons on the bottom, back home and menu have quit working. I have a hairline crack on the bottom right, but has been working fine with it on there. I flashed the AOSB rom but, i wouldn't think it has anything to do with it not working?
my question, and I believe I know the answer, would flashing back to stock in any way work to fix this problem?

It sounds like it is mechanically broken to me. Can't say for sure, but when a symptom like that appears after mechanical damage, there is a significant possibility that the two are related.

what I dont understand, is the buttons worked after it cracked?
So what would change?

It's entirely possible that the malfunction happened some time after the ''crack''. (Due to using the device while it is damaged) If you haven't already, you can try going back to stock rom. If the buttons still don't respond, it's unfortunately an hardware issue.

Big Problem. Buttons don't work!

Dear,
Yesterday, suddenly, the buttons on the "front" of the phone (mail, Internet, OK, D-Pad, etc) stop working "sometimes" (50~60% percent, maybe). I thought about ROM problem but I flashed twice with other ROMs and the problem persists.
I thought also a hardware problem, but it's quite strange, because it's not one or two buttons, it's all front buttons (also, buttons on the side seems that work always).
Any idea?
Thanks
Sesaru
I experienced this also on one hermes. This problem was already decribed on this forum (do a search) and seemed caused by a connector between the board containing the button's electronic and a flat cable. Some people solved the problem by disassembling their hermes and by putting some piece of foam behind the connector. On my hermes, it was not that issue. It was in fact the board itself where humidity caused the destruction of some wiring. By pressing on the board, the hermes was again functionning for a moment and then, same problem again. This was also accompaigned by the "white screen" effect. But not always. Another symptom was a row of some pixels on the top of the screen reproducing the bottom of the same screen. Only solution: replace the board.
In my opinion, it is well a hardware problem.
Hope this helps
I have the same problem, along with the white screen of death.

I'll check. Thank you very much!!!

No, it happened suddenly. I flashed after that, thinking in a ROM problem.
Anyway, I think I could fix it. I just slide the keyboard, and (sorry for my English, I'm not sure how to do say this) 'tighten the two smalls screws" on the back of the screen (the were a bit detached). After that, it seems that it works fine
Thanks!

Glad that worked!
I had a similar issue with one of the new rom i installed and later installing some other roms(couple of times though) fixed the issue. I still do not kn ow what was the real problem
Tightening the screws will work for a little while, but you are likely to see the problems return, and eventually the WSOD errors. Exact same thing has happened to many users. I recommend reading through the threads on it. There are few solutions that involve opening the thing right up (just so your prepared if it happens, which fingers crossed it wont).

Proximity Sensor Issue?

When i place a call and put the phone to my ear and then pull back away the screen does not "wake". It stays de-activated, no matter what i do. Eventually the only thing to do is to hold the power button down long enough for the phone to reboot.
Stock ROM, no root.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer.
WTF
I tested by laying the phone flat on a surface, placed a call, and then put my hand over the proximity sensor. The screen turned black as it should. When I removed my hand it did not come back on. Again, the only solution is to reboot the phone. So, the proximity sensor is not working correctly. Is this a known issue and is there a way to fix?
BUMP!
I'm in the self test module and am running the "sensors" test. I'm not sure when this ends if it ends at all or what values that proximity sensor field should have.
Anybody? Bueller?
Apparently Q&A isn't the place to post this? This is dissapointing coming from the E4GT forums which were super responsive.
Cool yer jets. It's only been a few hours. What ROM? Rooted? Any other mods that might affect it?

LOL
I said no root stock ROM
Anyway, I turned off the proximity sensor, verified that it was off, then turned it back on. It works now. Bizarre.
Sorry to get pissy.

NOT FIXED
So after a reboot the proximity sensor does not work on calls again. I turned it off and then back on and still no luck. I didn't actually make a call, but obviously I shouldn't have to do this every time i reboot the phone, so clearly there is an issue. It appears to be software since I got it to work once.
Any ideas? Thanks.

After insalling a new screen my phone acted the same. I opened it up again and found a tiny piece of plastic form the old screen inside the proximity sensor hole.
I know your problem is not this, just wanted to share

hmmm interesting. I think this is likely a software issue on mine. it would be dumb to have to return it since i'm confident there's a way to fix it.

That solution wasn't very good aha, what I would suggest you root your phone without tripping the flash counter and install a custom rom to see if the issue still exists, if yes you should return the phone.

thanks well it's brand new and it may be hardware related so i'd rather just get a fresh device then sweat dealing with root yet. this is why i waited to root it. I appreciate your effort though .

Plus I don't think just rooting it is a sound fix strategy.

Problem after updating to JB .211 and rooting.

A few days after updating my Xperia s from JB.200 to JB 211 and rooting it with Doomlord's rooting kit my touchscreen stopped reacting. It was showing perfectly and I was able to use the phone with MyPhoneExplorer. I also did the following check:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2025736&page=2
and it showed the screen is OK so the problem is in the software.
Had to take it to the shop for repair

If it was a software problem then a simple re flash was enough.

Next time try reflashing the ROM (.211) using flashtool

Well actually the purpose of this thread was to warn other fellow members of such a problem.
As for your advice, I did flash it twice, once flashing it again to 211 anda second time "downgrading" back to .200, both didn't fix the bug.
Did you wiped everything before flashing ?

Now that you mention it I did UNMARK the data, catch and apsslog hoping I wont need to strat from scratch. could it be that the bug was hiding somewhere in them?
Another solution I encounterd was this:
This is a common problem with many touch screen phones. There are about three reasons this can happen that I know of:
1. Hardware issue. Needs to go in for repair. Hopefully under warranty still.
2. Needs to be re-flashed with the OEM ROM. This is not likely, since you've already Hard Reset, but worth a try.
3. The EASIEST and FIRST thing to check is to run a 'business card' around the edge of the screen between the case and screen. Dirt or other objects can easily get wedged into that area and hold the screen pressed down. This would prevent a press from any other area of the screen. Also, a screen protector that has shifted might cause this. Hopefully this is it, as it's a simple fix!

Always do a fresh clean flashing of rom. That will eliminate all the hidden bugs.

The problem with this suggestion is that the Xperia S, like the vast majority of modern smartphones, uses a capacitative touchscreen which does not operate by detecting physical displacements of the screen surface. If it did then people wouldn't have problems using touchscreen phones wearing cloves and such like. Older style resistive touchscreens did work that way, but they're not widely used in smartphones any more and certainly not in the Xperia S. So while the advice offered might actually be effective, it can't be for the reason stated.

[problem] CM11 Black screen ISSUE {c1905}

Hello everyone. I've just installed few CM11-based roms (MIUI and AOKP) and noticed a strange thing. When I am just locking my phone and trying to unlock it after a while, screen doen's wake up. It just stays black and there is no reaction for power button. I have to reboot my phone by removing battery so that is really annoying. Stock was working fine, i hadn't notice anything like that. Anyone know the solution?

I found another solution i think. I just set up minimal CPU freq. over 400mhz and it's working fine. At least under the charger. You have to press it every single time or once and it's working fine then?
E: Without charger the same issue. Not solved.
I have the same problem and I think it has something to do with the proximity sensor.
Sounds interesting. Why do you think so?
Btw. I don't know why but I am happy that I am not alone with this problem.
Because:
Proximity Wake-Up support – prevent accidental wake-up of device by checking to see if proximity sensor is blocked (eg. Device is in a bag or pocket).

Capacitive touch button not working..Hardware or software?

As the title suggest, my recent button isn't working. The back and home button are working, when I press one of these buttons the backlight lights up for both the buttons. Any ideas whether it's software of hardware?

Try restarting, if that doesn't help... Give flashing another ROM a try( this should help you diagnose as to whetherits hardware or software.

Lol same. It's funny.
I got sad when it stopped working. Checked rebooting and swapping the keys from settings but it was showing light but touch want working. I even confirmed from the *#808# menu and was convinced it's hardware related. So started using onscreen buttons.
After some days I randomly turned off the on screen buttons just to see if the hardware button works and voila, it was working fine. Lol
Still don't know what the heck caused it.
But thanks for your answer, bro. Cheers.
