Dear,
Yesterday, suddenly, the buttons on the "front" of the phone (mail, Internet, OK, D-Pad, etc) stop working "sometimes" (50~60% percent, maybe). I thought about ROM problem but I flashed twice with other ROMs and the problem persists.
I thought also a hardware problem, but it's quite strange, because it's not one or two buttons, it's all front buttons (also, buttons on the side seems that work always).
Any idea?
Thanks
Sesaru
I experienced this also on one hermes. This problem was already decribed on this forum (do a search) and seemed caused by a connector between the board containing the button's electronic and a flat cable. Some people solved the problem by disassembling their hermes and by putting some piece of foam behind the connector. On my hermes, it was not that issue. It was in fact the board itself where humidity caused the destruction of some wiring. By pressing on the board, the hermes was again functionning for a moment and then, same problem again. This was also accompaigned by the "white screen" effect. But not always. Another symptom was a row of some pixels on the top of the screen reproducing the bottom of the same screen. Only solution: replace the board.
In my opinion, it is well a hardware problem.
Hope this helps
I have the same problem, along with the white screen of death.
Check the link at the bottom of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=394830
I'll check. Thank you very much!!!

No, it happened suddenly. I flashed after that, thinking in a ROM problem.
Anyway, I think I could fix it. I just slide the keyboard, and (sorry for my English, I'm not sure how to do say this) 'tighten the two smalls screws" on the back of the screen (the were a bit detached). After that, it seems that it works fine
Thanks!

Glad that worked!
I had a similar issue with one of the new rom i installed and later installing some other roms(couple of times though) fixed the issue. I still do not kn ow what was the real problem
Tightening the screws will work for a little while, but you are likely to see the problems return, and eventually the WSOD errors. Exact same thing has happened to many users. I recommend reading through the threads on it. There are few solutions that involve opening the thing right up (just so your prepared if it happens, which fingers crossed it wont).

Hi all!
I recently upgraded to WM6/AX3L. This excellent ROM solved many problems I had with WM5, such as SD card problems, USB connection problems with activesync and the missing sync... I am really happy with it!
I was aware of a lot of people suffering the auto-pressing of the "start button", and blaming the LCD screen and high temperature. But, in 6 months using WM5, it never happened to me.
5 minutes after installing WM6 I started suffering this problem. It is not very serious, as it only happen quite sporadically.
This problem is specific of WM6? or this is not related and it was just a random coincidence?
it's a problem of your device... many p3600 have this issue, it's not a problem releated wm6 rom.

yes, is a hardware problem...
see warranty, in case go in a customarker centre for repaire o change the device!!
yep, it is a hardware problem, not WM6. happened to mine and they replaced the whole unit.... very good service but took 8 weeks for the new one to arrive....
What do you guys mean by autostart? I seem to notice this happening when I use my finger to press something on the touch screen then the start menu comes up sometimes. Is that what you mean?
Or does it appear by itself without touching the screen?
Thanks
touching the screen sometimes device is like press randomly the start button without start button is touched
Hi,
Sure that it's a hardware pb? I've been having this issue with different ROMS and a lot with the FAMAN ROMS. At present I'm running a home-cooked ROM and don't have this pb any more (not once in the last week).
Also with FAMAN this pb occured a lot in similar situations (almost able to reproduce it on demand), ex.: when entering the third digit of the Pin-code.
I'm not saying that this can't be an hardware issue, but as far as I am/was concerned, it seemed rather software/ROM related or a mix out of both.
Bye.
Your device is broken
I had the same problem.
Sent it for repair and got a complete new device.
There is a treat about this in the normal trinity forum (not the WM6 forum). It has nothing to do with any rom!
Just out of curiousity...
Since the Trinity P3600 is out of production now...do you think they would replace a faulty phone with the new P3600i?

Yea it smells hardwarish... but the strange thing is.. it started to happen 5 seconds after installing WM6... had WM5 for months, heavy use, and NEVER happened. Thats why I asked.
i bet a woman was walking her dog outside the windows at that time too
It happens to me when I try to press about the center of the screen with my index finger. Never happens when I'm tapping with the stylus though.
mm gotta give a try. When it happens, I am always using my fingers. As I lost the stylus can't try :S

i was just making sure it was not the rom he had installed, sorry if you thought i was talking about redoing the rom and that would fix it but their is no way a rom could fix that he prolly dropped his phone 1 to many times
Yeah, i have dropped it a number of times.. but never it happened like this. this has been happening since a week now.. I have WM6 Premuim V2 by Dutty.. Its been on my phone since almost a year now.. Recently I had installed WM6.1 S64 Lite.. But that was very unstable and slowed the phone down.. So now I am back on WM6 Premuim V2 by Dutty..
Hope this helps..
You should DL the htc maintenance manual and try reconnecting the lcd cables. I had whitescreen issues and bottom of screen jumping t top so I bit the bullet and opened hermes up. was considerably easier than expected ( though do yourself a fovour and get the torque set (torque 6) ) and had it pulled apart then put back together in less than an hour. there is a lot of unneeded dissassembly in the maintenance manual (just take apart whats needed) but read thoroughly and do step by step and you should have no problem. Hope this helps you out...cheers....

hehehe that will work for sure.
Yep.. it was the issue with LCD.. also my screen would go fully white and nothing would happen after that.. That happens everytime I slide it.. It is found that the slide strip is the issue.. so that has to be replaced for it to solve..
It happens to me quite a bit when i open up the keyboard..sometimes i'll get just a "t", lots of times "ty." I don't think it's a coincidence that they happen to be the 2 top most centered keys, but I don't think the casing is rubbing and pressing the buttons. Is anyone else experiencing this? It is pretty annoying cause you always have to delete them before you type anything
i get them as well since i last updated (CRC r11.0)
same rom as me...
hmmm....better check in that thread
Mine does it as well using TNT's Rom. I don't think it's rom related, as every ROM I've used has done this.
It may not look like it, but I'm betting your casing it rubbing. I know mine is by using dry erase marker and seeing the transfer on the T and Y keys.
Good luck
lol.. i get them also.. but it only happens sometimes...
im using FARIA-R32-XDA2 rom
Yea, sitting here playing with mine, you're right, only sometimes. Seems it depends how I open the slide, how it torques, etc.
TY
No... It never hppened to me, actually... No matter what ROM I use...
I wish I could help.
Iim sorry...
Cheers.
Your phone is thanking you for installing a new rom! TY!

Hello Together,
I think it is a hardware problem. When push with your thumbs on the bottom of the screen while you slide out the keyboard (this is my normal methode to slide it out) you push the characters T and Y because they are in the middle of the upper row.
I wonder if it is possible to lock the buttons (in software) till the slider is out completely (when the screen rotates). Does anyone know a register or software solution?
Greetings Pudl
yes its a hardware problem...your keyboard cable is a bit loose probably...
you have to take your phone apart to fix that
its the bottom left ribbon cable with a flat silver plate that u need to unplug when u seperate the motherboard
and the screen rotation is activated by some magnetic thingy if i remember correctly
hehe,i also think it's the hardware problem
Hi,
Every second or third time I tap my screen wherever it opens the start menu instead of touching the area I want.
Is this a config problem, a WM61 build problem, or maybe a problem linked to my HardSPL, or is it a harware problem?
I had this problem with different ROMS, and different screens.
Thanks for your help !!
Search for TopBar 0.10 it's a fix for big finger on today screen that made pop up the start menu, you can edit it in registry. Go there http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=370478
@the-uki
I have the same problem on my HTC P3600.
It seems it's because you have dust under the edges of the mobile screen.
Anybody can confirm it ?

I dont believe that it is the dust under the edges of the mobile screen.
Go here: http://www.xiaprojects.com/?project=TopBar
Description from website:
This bug will popup your starmenu when:
you are using "huge" thumb while tapping the display (xt9 sms writing for example)
cpu is overheating (because it's near the diplay area)
Try installing this as this does fix the problem!

I report the same here. Also HTC3600. I just doubt its problem with dust. I guess its the touchscreen or some sort of WM setts.
It happens when I hit larger area. Eg with whole finger. Not just nail, which is OK.
It cant happen with multitouch if Im right.
Soo.. if there is some solution, help someone Its annoying "feature".
edit: Well, now I see sphinxy's answer. Thx, man
problem
I believe your screen got problem... (hardware) or too much dust...
this is a well-known problem and TopBar is the solution...I'm current using it

Yes, I can confirm that topbar works. Here it is http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/Tweaks/TopBar-P3600-Screen-Bug-Fix-60642.shtml
everyone, installed Topbar but still have the same problem.
So it must be a hardware problem, and since it happened with several screens, it must be on the motherboard, not the screen itself?
Or maybe it's because of my hardspl (very early version before WM61 came out)?
thanks for your help

I had a similar issue. After reading around I followed someone's advice. I don't know if this will help you but it worked for me:
1. Remove any screen protector you may have on.
2. Place a credit card under the edges of the screen frame and press it upwards slightly. Work your way around all the edges of the screen frame, lifting it up gently to release pressure.
3. Not only can a lot of dust build up under the frame, it can also sometimes bend down so that it actually makes contact with the screen when you press an area elsewhere on the screen.
After 10 minutes or so of bending, the screen suddenly started working again, but it was all out of sync. So, I reset the screen configuration with taps (like you do after a flash). Once I did that it was perfect again and has never troubled me since.
This may not be the problem in your case, but may be worth a try.
Mattster.
Silence....
I'm wondering if you sorted it, in case anyone else has the same issue...?
Mattster.
It seems that the Topbar made it's work for me...We'll see....!
Great. Very pleased for you!

topbar works for me
All,
topbar did not work for me, and I ended up buying a new screen on ebay;
installed new screen, and, problem gone!
Not all screens on ebay are good quality, careful!
the one I found has good very screens is joeweiderx
Hello xda members! I have been experiencing a strange problem with my "T-Mobile G2"'s microphone and would like to share it with you in case you had any insight on it:
My phone's microphone is not working - I cannot use voice input, music recognition services, etc. all it picks up is silence. What makes it a "strange" problem? Well, the microphone will work during calls, but ONLY IF I first snap out the keyboard and then snap it back in! Sometimes the microphone will fade out and then go silent again, at which point I'll open/close the keyboard again so that the other party can hear me again.
I thought it was software at first, but then I flashed it to stock and still had the same issue. Now I'm worried it might be a problem with the ribbon cable that connects the two halves. Have any of you ever heard of a similar problem? Any suggestions as to how I might fix it?
If it is intermittent and you reflashed then my guess would be hardware like you suggested.
Most likely you mic is loose. Does it behave the same as opening and closing if you just hit it or shake it?
Sent from my ghdudsjihfr using dhhcdfhuf.
Thanks for the replies, I honestly didn't expect any! Interesting thing.. I flashed MIUI yesterday and now it feels like the problem is fixed. I've noticed a slight lag before the mic responds the first few times but now it's spot on. I don't see why flashing to stock didn't fix it while flashing to MIUI did so I think it's just a coincidence and that this is still a hardware issue.
I'll try and poke around explore this more when I get more time.

Yup I did use superwipe.
Incidentally, the issue returned after 2 days of working perfectly. Doing a wipe and then installing that same ROM fresh (not a backup) did not fix it so that new most likely ROM had nothing to do with it. I'm giving up then and calling this a hardware issue, period. I guess it's a good thing that the HTC One phones are are coming out soon!
