[Q] Bootanimation with sound? - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Hey I was wondering how I can actually add sound in the boot animation. I have manually installed the "Android L" boot animation. But I would really like to know how I can add sound to it to make it more lively.

I've never heard of a boot animation with sound! Would be cool until it started getting annoying!

You're right, I forgot about non-Nexus phones. But... at least on HTC devices the boot animation graphics and sound are two separate files, meaning that the audio is Not in the bootanimation.zip.
Just to clarify, the boot sound and animation can be deleted independent of each other. If you delete one the other will still work. The first thing I did on my HTC devices is delete the boot sound. All of my experience is with HTC and Nexus devices but I'm pretty sure the other brands are the same. Fact is up until the L Preview boot animation I've only ever used the stock 'android' text boot animation.

Eyes do not flash it's just the first screen that you see then it's the normal android bootup after that. But if you want to grab it feel free. My girl actually gave me an idea for one but have not had time to work on it yet might do it later this week.
maybe off topic idk

Juggalo Animation
For any Redwings fans
I made this for my animation earlier.
It's from a picture of my Halloween costume from last year. A clown with a chainsaw. The shine makes a neat effect in the ring around the picture.

[Q] Making a bootanimation and I can't seem to get sound to work!

Okay, so I am porting over the new Virgin Mobile boot animation from the HTC Evo V 4G. I have been able to resize all the images to our phones screen size, and I have also been able to put them in a bootanimation.zip. The bootanimation works just fine, except it doesn't play the boot sound. I have read this guide, and It does not work for me. How do I make it so the sound will play? Any help will be greatly appriciated as I really want this boot animation, and I would love to port over boot animations from other devices with the sounds also!

I don't understand. Haha. Okay, so I suppose I will speel out my little plan here.
I'm planning that if the HTC Golf port gets completed, and then ported to CDMA, (One can hope right?}, that with the approval of the developers I could re-do some things to make it different. I was thinking of like making it look like it was really released as an update from Virgin Mobile. Like by adding the new VM boot animation and sound. I already have the boot animation, the sound file, and all the applications and images that Virgin Mobile has released. I have been trying to get the boot animation all situated on CM9. I have been looking all over the internet for things on how to make the boot sound play with the animation, but nothing seems to work. Do you have any idea on how to have it work? Oh, by the way, the CM9 I'm using doesn't have a boot sound with the ROM, or I would have just named the ogg file the same and called it a done deal. Sorry if that really doesn't make much sense.

[Request] Convert 720p to 1080p?

Alright, so I got these 2 animations (boot / down) from when I had my One X (720p display) and I would love it if someone could port/convert there into One (1080p) format :fingers-crossed: Would it be possible?? Thanks in advanced!!
There are already inverted animations posted for the One. Search, they're in here somewhere.

Yeah but those animations also have a Beats animation inside and as much as I love it, it always lags like hell on the Beats part... I tried to remove the Beats part, but it just made the phone get stuck at the bootanimation's last image... I could even interact with the phone (ie. unlock it and tick some settings, I could hear it all happening) but the image of the bootanimation wouldnt go away, so I couldnt see absolutely anything that was happening... That's why I'm requesting these, as the original never lags...

[Q] Custom Boot Animation

This might be a real simple thing but I havent seen it anywhere yet in the forums. Using the boot animation changer in ROM toolbox is really cool and today is the first day I actually have tried it. I am just wondering, now that I have the actual boot animation changed, I still have the gut wrenching ATT jingle that plays behind my boot animation. Whats the best way to either change it, or silence it? I still get the 2 LG boot logo's, but I assume that's not going anywhere until the bootloader (if ever) gets dealt with. Hey all, thanks for the help.

[Q] Boot Animation sounds

Can the nexus 7 2013 4.4.3 kitkat use boot animation sounds? If so where to place them and what to add in the desc.txt file. If not does cyanogenmod allow boot animation sounds?
I have used search but it found nothing. Maybe i didn't use the right key words. I searched for bootanimation sounds nexus 7 2013.

I don't think it does, at least not the stock ROM nor any other ROMs I know of (there may be some hardware limitation to as why), but, if they did, they might be stored where a custom bootanimation.zip would be, in /data/local and they might be in the same zip as the bootanimation, some devices use a sound file in /system/sounds, yes, I know, academic.
Yes, you will find posts that say to install/replace bootanimation.zip into /system/media, and while it works, it is not as elegant as using /data/local.

Man that sucks why would it be a hardware limitation for that would be weird. So phones like htc adds something in there hardware to allow bootanimation sounds? To me it sounds more like a software problem then a hardware problem. LIke the nexus 7 2013 dont include the stage fright file or something.

That is just conjecture on my part, I really do not know. Just that I tried many ROMs and not a one had a boot sound. Doing a search as you did, also revealed nothing about nexus 7 2013 sound support. It might not be hardware persae, but rather a limitation on the bootup processes ability to access hardware during boot, again, more conjecture. If you find out otherwise, I'd be grateful if you let me in on it.
