[Q] Boot Animation sounds - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Can the nexus 7 2013 4.4.3 kitkat use boot animation sounds? If so where to place them and what to add in the desc.txt file. If not does cyanogenmod allow boot animation sounds?
I have used search but it found nothing. Maybe i didn't use the right key words. I searched for bootanimation sounds nexus 7 2013.

I don't think it does, at least not the stock ROM nor any other ROMs I know of (there may be some hardware limitation to as why), but, if they did, they might be stored where a custom bootanimation.zip would be, in /data/local and they might be in the same zip as the bootanimation, some devices use a sound file in /system/sounds, yes, I know, academic.
Yes, you will find posts that say to install/replace bootanimation.zip into /system/media, and while it works, it is not as elegant as using /data/local.

Man that sucks why would it be a hardware limitation for that would be weird. So phones like htc adds something in there hardware to allow bootanimation sounds? To me it sounds more like a software problem then a hardware problem. LIke the nexus 7 2013 dont include the stage fright file or something.

That is just conjecture on my part, I really do not know. Just that I tried many ROMs and not a one had a boot sound. Doing a search as you did, also revealed nothing about nexus 7 2013 sound support. It might not be hardware persae, but rather a limitation on the bootup processes ability to access hardware during boot, again, more conjecture. If you find out otherwise, I'd be grateful if you let me in on it.

[SOLVED]How do I get rid of Sprint 4G sound and boot animation?

Hello,
I have a full rooted EVO with Stock ROM. Is there a way to remove the sound during boot? I have seen some of the post on modifying boot animations but they are a bit too much. I would like something simply.
EDIT:
(Just stumbled on this one).
- Removing the Sprint apps(bloatware) using adb also got rid of the boot animation sound. Specifically, I think it may have been Sprint Promotion.apk.
- Someone else may need to try this in order to confirm.
Boot Animation Lite from the market. Its free.
Does require root access tho, i know you said you have it, but for others that dont have root, and see this.
While it doesnt just take the sound out of the Sprint startup, changing it to the Nexus start screen is cooler to show off anyway.
Requires no knowledge of how to change stuff, just screen size, which EVO is 480x800.

Thanks, looks like a cool app. I only want the Sprint sound out though. Anyone has a better idea?
You can delete the sound using adb. The file is /system/customize/resource/SPC_animation_final.mp3
I hope that answers your question.

[BOOT ANIMATION] LCARS Themed Boot Animation

Here's a boot animation I've been working on and finally got completed. LCARS interface initiating from Star Trek.
Download it from here:
LCARS Boot Animation
You can view the following thread for instructions on installing the Boot Animation on your device: Galaxy Nexus Boot Animations and Mods
Awesome animation!
Some typical LCARS sounds might make even better
Seems I have to reboot more often now

good job man
thanks
Thanks! Glad you like it!
Great work! Thanks
amazing, i'm loving it
This is by far my favorite boot animation
I love this animation so much that I have it on my Nexus and tried to use it on my Galaxy Tab. This is somewhat unrelated, but it displays in the wrong orientation on my Tab. Can you please point me in the right direction toward correcting that?
Thanks,
Jim
I have to change the orientation of the images and in the desc.txt file. You can try this one for the time being:
http://db.tt/UBZkbanK
I made this one for the ASUS Transformer Prime, so it's got four cores at the end instead of just two, but I'm working on one for the Original ASUS Transformer that will drop back down to two Cores.
EDIT: Here is the updated one for the TF101 Transformer with just two Cores: http://db.tt/VpV6NnLa
ah...This made my day.
I complained when my phone booted too fast.
looks awesome! sound+portrait would be even better.
I'd love to add sound but I haven't seen any instructions on how to add any. I know there are a couple ROMs that are out there that have sounds on the boot animation, but I don't think it's a universal setting....just specific to those ROMs. If there's a way to add sound that would work on any ROM, let me know!
Thanks!

OK, how did you get the sound to work? What ROM are you running?
The boot animation and audio with the 1 in front are the originals. I put a 1 so I wouldn't have to move them. Move the audio file you want to the directory in the pic with root explorer and title them exactly as I have. You can delete or replace the originals, you don't need to keep them in there like I did, I was just being lazy.

Oh. And it may be case sensitive, I don't know if it is here but for system sounds like clicks stuff I think it is so if you have issues make sure the case is how it would be by default, lower case for boot audio, and upper case for system sounds. I could and probably am totally wrong though.

i only know how to install the CWM flashable boot animations. i really want to install this one. its awsome. can someone please explain in detail how to install this. i tried coping the file from the sd card to the directory's from the how to install post but the system will not allow me to copy to those locations. they are read only. i am running liquid rom 1.4

[Q] Making a bootanimation and I can't seem to get sound to work!

Okay, so I am porting over the new Virgin Mobile boot animation from the HTC Evo V 4G. I have been able to resize all the images to our phones screen size, and I have also been able to put them in a bootanimation.zip. The bootanimation works just fine, except it doesn't play the boot sound. I have read this guide, and It does not work for me. How do I make it so the sound will play? Any help will be greatly appriciated as I really want this boot animation, and I would love to port over boot animations from other devices with the sounds also!

I don't understand. Haha. Okay, so I suppose I will speel out my little plan here.
I'm planning that if the HTC Golf port gets completed, and then ported to CDMA, (One can hope right?}, that with the approval of the developers I could re-do some things to make it different. I was thinking of like making it look like it was really released as an update from Virgin Mobile. Like by adding the new VM boot animation and sound. I already have the boot animation, the sound file, and all the applications and images that Virgin Mobile has released. I have been trying to get the boot animation all situated on CM9. I have been looking all over the internet for things on how to make the boot sound play with the animation, but nothing seems to work. Do you have any idea on how to have it work? Oh, by the way, the CM9 I'm using doesn't have a boot sound with the ROM, or I would have just named the ogg file the same and called it a done deal. Sorry if that really doesn't make much sense.

Custom System UI sound snafu, need help

Hey guys, I'm not sure what to do next. I recently flashed in Jedi Master 14, which I'm loving, amd decided to be ridiculous and theme the entire phone to Star Wars, or as much as possible. DD gave me a Yoda shutdown anim, and I used the in-house boot animation installer from Rom Toolbox to change my boot animation.
Which led me to my sounds. Figured I'd start off easy with the lockscreen sounds, replce the watery splooshes with saber deactivation/ignition. So I did a bit of research amd figured out how to do it.
Found the files, that was easy. Also found an app to convert my downloaded mp3s to oggs, changed them, copied out the original sounds, put the new ones in, chamged the permissions to match their neighbors, rebooted and tested. Silence. I just also tried changing ownership so both list as "root," same as the other oggs, rebooted and tested again. Still nothing.
At this point, I'm wondering about file size/length, but my digging has yet to give anything about that. Do I need those, or at least the sizes, to match the originals? Any help or advice would be awesome.
Tl; dr, I broke things help.

You'll find the option to fix permissions in a menu someplace after you boot to recovery. In twrp it's under advanced. Not sure about cwm

Ahhh, I understand. I have the same. How old?
And thankee. I found the command, backing up first, just to be safe. If this works, I'm going to be so happy.
And on that note, Pandora just starting playing Alestorm. This is a blessed venture, I think.
Backup finished quicker than I thought. Still no dice. Any other ideas?

And I also somehow managed to break the lmt service...which I rely heavily on. So now I'm flashing in JM16 and leaving those sounds ALONE.
Yeah, right, let's see how long THAT lasts. Ill just be more vigilant with backups.

CTOS Bootup Animation

Hello all!
I claim no fame to this bootup animation. It's a CTOS Bootup from the game WatchDogs. I got the main animation zip from This XDA page in the G3 Forums. All I did was convert it to .qmg format so I can use it on my Note 4. it works perfectly on my phone using DynamicKat ROM.
Extract the zip and place the two files into /system/media and change permissions to rw-r-r- .
EDIT:For those implementing the sounds, it goes into /system/media/audio/ui
As always I recommend changing the original files to *.qmg.bak (* is the like files you are copying over) in case the world explodes, your GF dumps you, or the phone simply doesn't like being touched.
P.S. I shouldn't have to remind you, but just in case... Warranty is voided, do at your own risk, etc etc.

If you go to the link I provided in the OP, can scroll down the list of his available stuff till you hit the CTOS one. That's what I have here, just in .QMG format instead of a bootanimation.zip.
Looks pretty cool. I like the others posted on the op too. Is it difficult converting them? Thanks for this.

It's not that difficult, but depending on the size of the bootupanimation.zip and number of images, it can take a while to convert. I followed this guide and did it in a few minutes. Warning though, if you are doing this yourself the limit to this program is 255 images. The samsung converter seems to auto adjust the bootup size to the images used. Be sure to follow the guide to a 'T' and you'll be fine.
If you want me to I can do a few conversions or help you with some steps. Just let me know.
Thanks for the link. I'll check it out and I'll ask if I got any questions
Thanks works great on my side

Lol ? thank u btw
Well, I'm having issues with the sound on bootup. I changed permissions and all, made sure the sound work while in the phone, and nothing during bootup. Could be the ROM I'm on. Using DynamicKat. I'm mostly deaf though so it might simply be a quiet sound. Lemme know what's up.

The original bootanimation.zip had 265 images, I had to delete a few in order to get the program to render the animation. It's limit is 255. That's why the sound is a little off for you. In the ROM I'm using, there was no PowerOn.ogg. had to look at another ROM to see where the bootup sound was located. It's where it should be but I hear no sounds. No big deal for me, glad it works for you though.
I c, my sound is on system-media-sound-ui hopefully that could help
Works great man. Liked this game and the boot animation is really cool
