Android “L” - HTC One X

Will our device get roms based in Android “L”? I don't think so but i would like to hear developers's opinion. (sorry for my English)

Will not official from HTC but maybe get it by CM, AOSPA, MOKEE, AICP...

Btw whats up with the 3.4 kernel?
and google l is avaliable for devs on nexus5 from today on

JellyBean - JELLYTIME for DHD/Inspire4g - R4 Available
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778202
I really like JellyTime but there are some little things missing for the moment.
This morning I tried the codefireX and for a new rom there is already some cool features. So i kept this one.
I tested Jellybean for a while and I really loved it, but in every update they made some bug was fixed and a new one was created. Finally stayed at ICS with Sense 4.
Right now IMO the best ROM is codefireX nightlies by synergye and Team Codefire.
As of now all of the JellyBean ROMs available for DHD/I4G are more or less at the same level of development. Because they all use the same kernel and other sources (slightly modified for JellyTime by randomblame I guess). So they all have the same bugs. The real question comes down to what kind of ROM you want. Randomblame releases JellyTime in both CM10 & AOKP versions. The unofficial nightlies are also available in CM10 & AOKP versions. The aim of codefireX is to have a CM10 ROM with a bunch of popular AOKP and other custom codefireX features added in. Kind of like the best of both worlds.
Another thing to consider is whether you want to have the latest development and flash a new nightly (almost) everyday, or you'd rather flash a ROM with one or two updates a week. If you want fast development, flash nightlies, otherwise flash JellyTime which gets updated less frequently but gets updated and fixes the same bugs nonetheless.

Now I'm using Jellytime but there are a lot of bugs... I wanna use codefireX, where can I found a bug list for this rom?

There isn't one; the dev isn't active on XDA. The cfX thread has some updates from synergye in the IRC channel. I should warn you that the bug list in randomblame's JT and in synerge's nightlies are very similar. If JT's bugs bother you, the nightlies probably will too.
All JB ROM's have the same bugs...it's like same drink in different cups...so you will have to do your own research and figure out what you like..
I hope the work with jellybean will arrive at the same point of ICS, there's a lot of roms that works fine with it. Jellybean is more fast, a jellybean rom, why not with the sense, could be a perfect rom for the DHD. Meanwhile Jellytime is enought!

Hi,
I used to MIUI.us 2.8.31.
It was wey fast but was some bugs for me:
• Usually I’ve got a black screen after unlock,
• The soft keys (home, menu, back, search) doesn’t light,
• I use a HTC headset. The headsets bottoms don’t function. I can’t pick up the phone.
I went back to ICS

I'd have to agree with what everyone seems to be saying here. My two favorites are Jellytime and CodefireX. CodefireX is releasing updates more often and I am using that at the moment. The main bugs occurring right now for me is the issue of blackscreen at the first sound played after unlock and also randomly when locking the phone the backlight will still be on even though the screen is black. I experience this behavior with both ROMs. Word is, a fix is right around the corner, though.
The issue is all kernel related. So all the JB roms have the same bugs...hope we get some kernel updates soon.
Now I'm using Jellytime r5.1 and I must Say that jellybean is faster a lot then ics! There are still a lot of bugs but with a few of updates we will have a lot of speedy roms!

I'll wait for unbugged rom . I saw a movie in slow motion showing speed ICS vs JB and JB is great

I agree...JB is a bit snappier than ICS.
It’s too early to use and relay to any of these Roms as daily driver, but Jellytime I think will be ready soon.
Any JB rom with working headset buttons?
Is the headset button issue even ROM related? I thought it all depends on the source it's compiled from.
I'm glad I don't need that, it's the only big issue left in Jelly Bean Roms
Does CodefireX have the same HW Overlay issue that jellytime has?

What is MIUI based on?

Is it based on AOSP or CM? I want to say AOSP but I can't quite remember.

cyanogenmod
aokp/cyanogenmod/miui = all are based on aosp (android open source project).
MIUI v2 is based on CM
MIUI v4 is based on AOSP or stock ROM for each model
Gingerbread was CM, but they moved to AOSP.

yeah, right.
"based on stock roms for other devices". what other devices? source isn't available for non-nexus devices, only kernel which is gpl.
so, yeah, miui is aosp based, but then tell me, why does miui support nearly every device that cyanogenmod does? they "solve" stuff, yeah, but the harder parts they lurk around waiting for cm team to do the job.
they dont even put out their source.
miui it's cyanogenmod based, as far as i'm concerned.

Simply not true! When one doesn't know, one should keep their mouth shut.
MIUI V.4 is based and many different roms. The one for SGS2 is based a a regular heavily themed Touchwiz rom. No official MIUI-rom is based on CM anymore a few unofficial though. You can even see it inside the roms, cause everything in the framework can't be themed and certain parts of the default graphics is still sadly there.

not entirely true since most manufacturers contribute code to aosp, google merges a great part of aosp into its internal trees and vice versa, and that is what the vendors get to build their frameworks on. so from a certain point of view, it's all aosp based. this is the base for the android ecosystem.

See my post above. It's just because CM supports almost all devices out there. If one created a ROM for a phone which CM supports, does it mean his ROM is also CM-based? :silly:

At least you'll have to differentiate between MIUI v2 and MIUI v4.
Everyone knows MIUI v2 (Gingerbread) is based on CM, that's why it was so good in both performance and features. But since ICS came out, MIUI v4 is built on AOSP, that's the reason there are less features in MIUI v4 and the performance is noticeably worse when compared to MIUI v2. A simple example is CM has "volume rocker skip track" since ages but MIUI v4 still doesn't have it. And it's one of the "most wanted" features by the users

Sure, but my point is, if they have to cherry-pick it then the assumption that MIUI v4 is based on CM would be strange... no?
Are you all retarded? Miui is built from the ground up using aosp. Most builds you see for devices are unofficial ports. Go to miuis website if you want to see official devices.

[Q] What did CM change to make the AOSP work on the HTC One X?

I do not require the exact code, only the overview on what they changed. If I were to export the AOSP vanilla and launch it to my phone I am pretty sure it would not start. I am aware their source code is available for download but comparing two massive piles of code is not the most efficient approach. I thus ask here because I know many of you have the brain to comprehend what I do not, yet. My motivation is to build a ROM, but not based on CM if possible. I would rather have AOSP as source and not CM, calling it more my own.
I think the best way of finding out is to send pm to tbalden.

From what I've gathered from a few guides on porting roms this is the general idea.
Gather these:
ICS sense rom that comes on the one x.
Jelly bean rom from the nexus 4/7
Then take drivers from the HTC rom that tell the software how to work with the one x hardware and put them into the jelly bean rom bit by bit until the Jelly bean AOSP rom works with all of the one x's hardware.
Very simple and could be wrong here? *shrugs*
I think the kernel is the most important thing when thinking of AOSP roms.

So if I have a stable kernel that makes everything work, will vanilla AOSP code work or do I need to modify it?

No he's taking about porting ROMs i.e. taking one device's pre-built ROM and making it work on another device. That's basic ROM development. Real ROM development involves compiling a ROM from source, be it AOSP, AOKP, CM. CM basically takes the AOSP source code and modifies it like hell with all their enhancements. They're not porting ROMs from Nexus devices.

[Q] Best 4.2.2 ROM for the N7100?

I've been using Omega ROM since day one, but I wanna try the stock 4.2.2 Android Jelly Bean. So which ROMs do you recommend me trying? I've heard of PA3.15 P.A.C True All in 1 ROM, LiquidSmooth, JellyBAM ROM, AOKP Unofficial Nightlies, Paranoid Android.. Which one do you think is the best and most stable? (camera working with flash etc..)
Thanks!

Paranoid Android 3 i would suggest
Pacman all in one rom
CarbonROM was my favourite.
RootBox of course
I tried almost all of the 4.2.2 ROMs.
I would say: Paranoidandroid +3.
BUT just so you'll know, 4.2.2 has a problem with the camera. It gets lots of FC or camera gets stuck when using focus+flash.
Carbon is good but didn't understand how to enable tuggels and lock screen. Tried everything.
Good lunch

i have been using for a few days paranoid android 3+, and i can say it works pretty cool, also what i was looking for on any rom 4.2.2 was the camera working, and in this one the camera works well, either flash and video, i havent had any force close since i installed it, before paranoid android i tried pacman all in one but on that one the camera was giving me force closes with flash and video so i changed to paranoid android

Halo will be integrated as soon as PA Team releases the code so it's not really useful to keep PA Rom just for this feature.

[Q] Most Stable and closest stock android looking rom

Hello! In the avaiable roms for the v500, which one you would recommend to be most stable and closest to stock android? Thanks!
I Think that Mahdi ROM is the best my friend... To be honest all the ROMS are good... But i'm using MAHDI ... Try them all to see what's best for you....
I switch between Mahdi and Slimrom. Performance wise I can't tell any difference, but each has slightly different features. Try them both and pick the one you like best.
